Adam had been hitting me, hurting me, forcing himself upon me. I couldn't take it anymore. He never dares to hurt the children, but I'd like you to take them when I'm gone, so I know they're safe. You always seemed happier with children around, anyway.

Dear TJ,

What to say to you? You were the best big brother I could ask for. You were always there when I needed you. You kept us sane after we lost papa. Your humor was what kept us going. I can never repay you for that.
