ONE.
october 1st.
the day that na eunha dreaded.
31 more days until this she could finally relax, knowing that the holiday she hated so much would be forgotten for another year.
halloween.
"eunha, i just don't get why you hate halloween so much! everything you dislike about it are just minor inconveniences that everyone experiences!"
eunha's best friend, jiyeon complained about her attitude towards the holiday as they walked down the hallway to their first class.
"well you forgot about one thing-" eunha was about to speak when she got interrupted by jiyeon.
"let me guess, jaemin? I have a brother too, yet you don't see me absolutely despising a whole month."
"but jaemin is 100000 times more annoying then jisung! at least he doesn't bother you every five seconds and tries to convince you to do something you don't want to for weeks on end!" eunha ranted about her brother she despised when suddenly she heard the familiar iphone notification sound.
"speak of the devil.." eunha sighed as she took her phone out of her pocket, only to see jaemin had texted her.
"let me guess, he's already started with his antics.." jiyeon said as the girl put her phone back in her pocket, obviously frustrated.
"how about you go with him this once? just this halloween? if you don't like it, you don't have to go trick or treating. just see if you like it or not!" jiyeon suggested.
eunha seemed to think a bit. sure, it wouldn't hurt to try trick or treating one time.
"if I feel like it, maybe I'll go." eunha said, putting an emphasis on the word maybe.
jiyeon smiled as the two stopped in front of their first class, immediately wanting to leave. they both entered, preparing for a long day of classes.
"she still doesn't want to go with me, jeno!" jaemin pouted as he stared at his screen, sad that his own little sister didn't even want to go trick or treating. he sat down on the cold concrete floor of the old school courtyard.
"whatever, if she doesn't wanna go she doesn't wanna go jaemin. there are much better things you could do with your time."
"shut up renjun, you're the one going with me anyway." jaemin rolled his eyes and looked back at his screen.
"speaking of trick or treating, is your sister gonna come again jisung?"
"chenle, i know exactly what you're trying to-"
jisung was interrupted by the sound of a creak, signaling the door to the courtyard was opening.
"fuck."
the six boys quickly ran to hide somewhere, some behind the fountain, some behind the stone figures, just anywhere they could hide and not be caught.
they made one mistake though.
"hmm, i swear I would have heard some voices here-"
they looked down at the floor to see a pin. but it wasn't just any pin.
"wait a minute..isn't this the watermelon pin I gave to donghyuck?" he picked it up and examined it, and it seemed as if it had fell.
meanwhile behind the fountain, donghyuck was mentally cursing himself out.
"i know you're there donghyuck, come on out!" the mysterious figure kept yelling until he finally decided to actually look.
donghyuck was pretty dumb to hide behind the fountain because that was the first place he checked.
"there you are! you dropped this!" he said with a wide smile, as the figure handed it to donghyuck.
"that's what you're worried about..?" He responded.
"oh, yeah! you can't be skipping class donghyuck!! it's bad for you!" he kept scolding donghyuck for a solid 5 minutes.
"minhyung, it's just one time, relax.." hyuck sighed as he stood up from his spot.
"hey, i-it's mark! don't call me that!" mark got flustered quickly as donghyuck started to leave.
"oh, by the way renjun is behind the last statue, jeno is behind that big plant over there, and jaemin is behind the statue in the middle. chenle and jisung are in class."
"DAMNIT LEE DONGHYUCK YOU SNITCH ASS HOE!"
the familiar bell rang as the students grabbed their items and immediately ran out of class, their teacher barely being able to get out the words "have a good day."
"finally, I barely understood what was going on in that class.." jiyeon sighed as she followed behind eunha into the crowded hallway.
"yeah, mr. choi speaks too fast." eunha and jiyeon walked down the hallway and past the detention room, but eunha caught a quick glance of a familiar face.
"wait. is that jaemin?" eunha asked as they stopped in their tracks to check through the window of the detention room.
well, they were right. jaemin and his rascal friends which eunha didn't really like were stuck in detention, most likely for skipping.
"what did they do now.." jiyeon let out an exasperated sigh as she peeked through the window.
jaemin immediately spotted the two, and just waved. meanwhile on the other hand, renjun was trying to signal to let them out of the room, but it was no use as the pair had already left.
"dang it! if only they listened, then just maybe we could have gotten out of this stupid room and been able to go home! this is all your fault donghyuck!" renjun scolded donghyuck as he sat in his seat idle, not paying attention to the angry gremlin.
"renjun, stop yelling so much. literally no one wants to hear it." an obviously annoyed jeno interrupted the hotheaded male, to which he just rolled his eyes and slumped in this chair.
"bye jiyeon, see you at school tomorrow!" eunha waved to the small girl as she continued walking on the sidewalk to her own home. jiyeon lived further away from eunha, but it was a bit unusual as they usually went over to each other's houses after school.
fiddling with her keys, she finally found the right one and opened the wooden door to her home, where her parents were invested in their k-dramas in the living room.
taking off her shoes, she quickly greeted her parents and went upstairs.
but not before they stopped her.
"eunha!" her mother yelled as she was halfway up the stairway.
sighing, she quickly turned back around and went downstairs.
"yes, eomma?" eunha wanted to get whatever her mother was going to ask her out of the way quickly, as she wanted to finish her homework as soon as possible.
"where is jaemin?" she asked, an obvious hint of worry in her voice.
"I'm pretty sure he's in detention." eunha answered with no hesitation, as she quickly went upstairs to leave her parents to wonder why jaemin got detention in the first place.
eunha looked over at the the digital clock on her nightstand. the time read 11:11 PM. she sighed and looked back up at her ceiling, not being able to sleep because of one thing on her mind.
it was a stupid thing to lose sleep over a question like "do you want to go trick or treating with me", but there was just something about it this time around that made her really think about it.
her brother would be graduating this school year and going to college, which meant she would see him a lot less, and definitely no trick or treating.
besides, it wouldn't hurt to go one time, right? just once, to see what it would be like. sighing, she grabbed her phone and texted jaemin.
"you know what, I think i want to go this year."
