"Your Mom's got me sprung and I don't care who sees
'Cause, Birdy, she got me" I sang as the music my daughter played blasted through my truck's speaker and she danced in the passenger seat

I had, had a long conversation with Talia about why Gracie should be able to stay home since it was her last day of school and how she wouldn't be missing anything; plus the fact my baby had straight A's throughout the year.

But when my wife received the puppy eyes from me and our daughter it was over; now Birdy is headed to the station with me for a bit and then we're going shopping for the Daddy-Daughter Dance we had tonight.

"Baby, she got me!" I continued singing while Gracie got ready for her part

"Heeeeyyyyyy!" Gracie sang causing me to laugh as I pulled up at the station and began dancing with her as the song came to its end

I then looked over to my daughter whose hair was everywhere and whose cheeks were red which led me to laugh boisterously at the state she was in from her performance.

That's when I heard it.

"You DIDN'T?" I asked in playful disbelief as the beat to Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars began blasting through the speakers

"I did!" She rebutted causing me and her to begin singing to the top of our lungs

"Dad, you're like the biggest weirdo ever!" Gracie said as we laughed and walked toward the entrance to the station

"You know you love it!" I rebutted with a smile as I abruptly grabbed her, pulling her into a tight hug she began trying to escape from while laughing

"Hi, Sheriff Ryker!" I then heard causing me to let go of Birdy as we both turned seeing the one and only Luna Wilson smiling coquettishly at me

"Hello Ms. Wilson, how are you?" I asked blankly as Gracelynn sent her an expression I tried my hardest not to laugh at instead replacing my laughter with my poker face

"I'm good, you?" She asked while slightly biting her lip coyly

"I'm good! Me and Gracie are just out on the town about to go shopping for our dance and get the wifey something special" I replied as I rested my arm over my daughter's shoulder

"I actually was headed to the station to speak with you...what a coincidence?!" She said while chuckling softly

"About?!" I asked furrowing my eyebrows wondering what it could be now since she comes to the station five to ten times a month about a petty complaint and to flirt with me for thirty minutes straight as I helplessly try to get out of the situation with Carter laughing at me the entire time

"Well my neighbor has been doing a lot of loud activities during the day and it's scaring my cat." She answered causing me to chuckle and reply, "I'll go over and talk to Marla and Steve but it's most likely Johnny being Johnny"

"Thank you so much, Sheriff Ryker!" She rebutted with a smile before finally looking over at my daughter and saying, "Hi, Gracelynn. How are you?!"

"Could be better but I'm thirsty, you?" She replied with a sweet smile masking her annoyance

"I-i...No." Luna replied causing me to smile and say breaking the tension, "Well, we'll see you around!"

"Alright!" Luna said happily before walking off causing me to sigh in relief as me and Gracie finally made our way into the station

"Didn't Mom punch her in the face?" Birdy asked causing me to laugh

"Back when we were in high school, yes!" I answered

"So I can next right?" Gracie retorted jokingly causing me to laugh harder

"No comment," I replied with a smile

Gracelynn was in so many ways just like her Mother I couldn't help but just smile in response most of the time.

It always amazed me and would continue to simply because since the moment she was born my amazement hasn't been stalled.

"I know you're the Sheriff and all but do you really have to put up with her acting like you were once the love of her life?!" She then asked with a frown

"Listen, Birdy, you and your Mom are the only girls in the universe I care for and that will continue no matter what because absolutely no one can change that," I said as I hugged her before watching her frown disappear and instead be replaced by her cute little smile

"Plus...your Mom thinks I'm really hot, nothing beats that!" I then said causing her to continue smiling while scrunching her face up

"Not the silent judgment face!" I said with a laugh walking over to Fields' office, seeing he was on the phone discussing another petty complaint with someone on the other end

"Well, we'll just wait for Fields and then we can go shopping and bring Mom a gift and food," I said walking into my office to see whether there was any new paperwork or anything I'd need to handle

Gracie then plopped on my couch and began playing a game or something on her iPod.

"Okay, so Scotty is speeding again" I murmured with a sigh knowing I was eventually going to talk to his grandmother about his adrenaline seeks after each of his baseball games

"What's up kid, Chief?!" Fields said as he appeared in my doorway

"Hi, Uncle Carter!" Gracelynn excitedly exclaimed getting up to hug him

"Hey, Fields"

"I see Luna's harassing you again. I can throw her in a holding cell for a day or so if you want?!" He said with a smile causing me to chuckle lowly and say, "Stand down, Deputy"

"What are you doing down here?! I thought you and Gracie had the dance tonight and were going shopping today for it?!" He asked

"We are! I just came down here to formally let you know you were in charge tonight. Anything that happens tonight let me tomorrow unless it's something serious" I insisted

"No problem, Chief. You two get out of here and have some fun!" He then said before tickling Gracie causing her to squirm away and into my arms while laughing

"Alright, we'll see you on the flip side, Fields," I replied giving him a quick handshake before me and Gracie began heading out of the station

"Baby!" I called after opening the door to her practice which was now closed for her lunch

"In here!" She called in response as me and Gracelynn made our way to her office

"We brought food!" Gracie said sillily while placing our meals on her desk and walking around to hug her

"Hey, Mom!" She then said before sitting on her lap causing me to smile

"Gracelynn usually I'd let you being a big kid slide but I'm nauseous today, pretty girl," Talia said causing Gracie to get up

"You need some medicine, Momzie?!" She asked as she pouted

"No, I'm pretty sure it's just because I'm getting old." She rebutted causing me to laugh

"Yeah, whatever, I'll go get you some ibuprofen," Gracie replied before heading back out to the truck to grab her purse

I then laughed to myself knowing this was just something Talia was doing to get us alone for a few seconds.

"I got you your favorite...and these," I said to my wife while walking around her desk to hand her the lilies I had brought her

"Thank you." She said beginning to smile a bit harder as she stood up taking them from me gently and placing them on her chair

"You've been on and off nauseous all this month is there something you have to tell me?!" I asked while placing my hand on her cheek

"No, Sheriff" She replied lowly as she wrapped her arms around my neck

"You know you're beautiful for a borderline sick woman?" I said before leaning down to press my lips against hers as I gently gripped her ass for a second before redirecting my hand to her lower back instead

"...And I love you so much" I then said after pulling away from our kiss while biting my lip gently wanting more than I was bound to receive

"I love you too" She replied with a little smirk

"You know, now I'm uncomfortable and want to eat in a patient room" Gracie then said causing our moment to break and us to laugh

"Oh shut it, Birdy!" I rebutted while laughing

"Yeah, but my only question is...how much was it?!" Talia asked causing Gracie to scrunch her face in response to the question that was leaving her obviously confused

"500$" I answered before looking over to Gracie and whispering in a playful tone, "She's talking about your dress."

"I knew it! Girl, you better smile in every picture I don't care if you're eating!" My wife then told my daughter causing me to laugh loudly

"So you can get Louis Vuitton purses and I can't get the dress I want without stipulations and the talking behind my back?!" Gracie asked while sarcastically placing her hand on her chest

"I work!" Talia rebutted while laughing

"Mmhm...everyone knows Dad brought you those purses!" Gracie retorted causing me to look away trying to avoid eye contact with the both of them so I wouldn't be drug into their bout

"You know, the way your mouth runs you have two options; a lawyer or reality tv star," Talia said beginning to place her flowers in a vase

Gracelynn then broke her stone-cold glare beginning to laugh at her Mom's comment.

"That was good!" Gracie said while giggling causing me to laugh along with them both

"You two scare me with how alike you guys are" I then said beginning to shake my head
