"I can't believe you snuck me out!" I said to Grayson while smiling in his arms where I felt safest

"I can't believe it either." He replied bluntly as we lay on a blanket in the park beneath the starry night

"Do you ever think about if our parents actually were able to waver the way we feel about one another?" I asked after a long pause of silence between us

"No, because they can't change love. What me and you have will carry us on until we are ghosts." Grayson replied as he rubbed my arm

"We should run away...from our parents, the nosey ass people in this town...everything." I proposed while turning to face him

"Baby, your parents would kill me..." Gray replied with a sigh

"Then they'd have to kill me too." I rebutted promisingly after leaning my forehead against Grayson's

"Nope!" Grayson boisterously said as he pulled me into his lap while smiling: "We still have three babies to have and a whole life to live with them!" He continued while tickling me as I squealed in laughter trying to escape his hold

"Okay! Okay!" I yelped in hopes it would stop his blithe antics

"Okay!" Gray rebutted as he stood lifting my body in his brisk movement before swinging me around playfully

"Grayson!" I shrieked while laughing until my stomach began to tighten

I knew Gray wasn't going to drop me. But, he does things like this so quickly that it always catches me off guard yet leaves me in extensive bliss.

"I love you." He then said while holding me securely in his arms and sending me a gaze that sent chills down my spine.

"I love you," I replied with a smile before leaning my head in the crook of his neck

"I should get you home...It's later than I thought." He informed me after looking at his watch

"No, I wanna stay with you!" I whined like a baby leaving him in light amusement the more I pouted

"I wish you could...just a few more months and you can. I promise." Grayson replied as he gently rubbed his thumb over my chin before kissing my forehead

I had three more months before I turned 18 and it seemed the closer I got to that date the more they had begun crossing the line as far as their antics involving keeping me and Grayson apart.

I already had been accepted into University and was so ready to live my life within my own expectations not for my family.

"Come on, pretty girl..." Grayson said with a smile as he stood before holding his hand out for me to grab so he could help me up

And once I did he pulled me closer so he could hug me tightly leaving me in a euphoric state as his scent filled my nostrils the more his warm body pressed against mine.

He'd never understand how complete he made me feel. It was the main reason I was so scared to fall in love with him at first. Grayson was like a star; so bright and alluring you would think he was the only perfect being in the universe.

Grayson then picked the blanket up from the ground and threw it in the back of his car and before I knew it we were on our way to my parent's home.

I had left the side window unlocked so I could just slip back in and I was still in my night clothes to make it more believable if that happened to wake up and I was downstairs.

And, I wasn't worried until I noticed the red and blue flashing lights around me and Grayson's parents' houses as we pulled into our neighborhood.

"Shit!" I groaned as Gray parked on the street behind one of the police cars that sat in front of my home.

Grayson then walked around his car, opening the door for me before we began walking down the sidewalk toward the group of people that consisted of both of our parents and a few cops.

My Mother's eyes then widened the moment she saw me with Grayson.

"How dare you both!" She then shouted angrily as she walked toward us

"Where the hell did you go with her?!" Grayson's Mom asked angrily

"Yeah, because you were supposed to be in Dallas at school!" His Dad added

"We just went to the park," I answered

"At 3 in the morning?!" My Dad snapped

"Alright, I'm going to need you all to calm down." One of the police officers then said

"No, I'm not going to calm down! My daughter is a minor and he is an adult there is no way this is legal!" My Mom rebutted

"That is such bullshit," Grayson replied lowly while huffing

"Is that true, sir?!" Another officer then asked Gray

"No, that isn't true!" I sneered

"Get inside of the house!" My Dad ordered as he tightly grabbed my arm resulting in me snatching away

"No, don't touch me!" I retorted as Gray gently pulled me toward him so my Dad couldn't grab me again

"How old are you two?" The officer asked and just as we were about to tell him my Mom cut us off saying, "He is 21 and she is 17!"

"I'm 19, not 21. I turn 20 three days after Talia turns 18." Grayson scoffed now pretty pissed off along with myself

"Can I see your ID, Mr. Ryker?" The female officer then asked causing Grayson to grab his wallet out of his pocket and hand her his driver's license

"Mrs. Tookes, Grayson is 19. Not 20." She then informed her with a stern expression

"Alright, I will let you all know that these two dating is completely legal. Ms. Tookes is 17; by Texas law, she is at the age of consent, and with our Romeo and Juliet law they are completely within legal boundaries to date and have an intimate relationship. Now, Mr. Ryker, you can be charged with harboring a runaway since Ms. Tookes is still a minor and you snuck her out without her parents' permission; which is a Class A misdemeanor and with conviction can mean you serve a year in jail and can pay up to 4000$ in fines." The male officer ranted

I couldn't believe my parents. How could they put us in this situation?

"And, we will press charges if you don't leave Talia alone. So, you can kiss your football days away if you keep it up!" My Dad threatened

"This is so fucked up!" I blurted as my eyes began to water at the ultimatum that was given to Gray just for loving me

"You watch your mouth, young lady!" My Mom asserted

"I told you, Grayson! Time after time, I warned you to leave this girl alone. Is it really worth throwing your life away for some high school fling?!" His Mom asked with her hand still on her chest from the news she had just heard about him possibly going to jail

Grayson did nothing but look between all of them before saying after a long minute of silence, "Yes."

His Mom then slapped him and uttered between her tears while pointing in his direction, "You're so selfish!...After everything me and your Father have done to get you where you are just for you to throw it away for a damn girl!"

"And you! You were nothing but a problem from the beginning!" His Mother scoffed before storming off

"Mr. and Mrs. Tookes, will you two be pressing charges?!" The male officer then asked a bit timidly

I could tell he didn't want to ask after gathering the fact that our parents didn't want us together. But, I guess he had to.

"No!" I blurted once again with tears running down my eyes as Grayson squeezed my hand trying to comfort me in the most uncomfortable situation possible

"You don't have a say in this!" My Dad sneered

"If you guys do this...I'll never forgive you two," I said beginning to break down before walking away not wanting to hear anymore of this conversation

"Talia!" Grayson called after me as he followed me

"Yes?" I answered while wiping my eyes

"It's okay," Grayson said while pulling me into his arms

"No, it's not. I'm so sorry." I cried while weakly holding onto him

"Mr. Ryker..." The female officer said causing us to turn to face her

"Listen, I know you're in University and a football star which also means you're too young to have a tarnished record that can result in you messing up your chances of going to the league or getting kicked out of school. But, her parents are saying they won't press charges under the circumstance that you stay away from Talia." She ranted

"This isn't right! We've been dating since we were both minors and the only reason this is an issue is because both of our parents don't want us together." I replied

"Me and my partner have gathered that. But, um, when do you turn 18, Talia?" She then asked

"In 2 months," I answered

"Alright, my advice would be for you two to just keep a low profile until you are legally an adult and can do things like this without either of you possibly getting in trouble." She advised

"Absolutely, not!" Grayson's Dad said chiming into our conversation

"Sir, calm down." The officer then said

"No. Grayson, you're going to go back to Dallas and stay there unless I or your Mother tells you it's okay to come back; and you're going to leave her alone and that's final!" His Dad bellowed

"No," Grayson replied simply causing his Dad to grab him by his collar and push him into a nearby car

"No?" His Dad asked mockingly

"Sir!" The officer called as the male officer rushed over getting between the two

"I wouldn't dare live like you and Mom. You two don't love each other you tolerate each other for status and I refuse to live a life as empty and cold as you two's." Grayson rebutted

"If you don't give this fling up by the end of the year you're cut off from the family completely!" His Dad declared before storming off toward his home

I couldn't believe this. I truly was starting to believe both of our parents were batshit crazy. I mean, banishing your son from his family? Threatening to put your daughter's boyfriend in jail just because you don't like him for no valid reason other than the fact you don't feel he'd fit the qualifications of what a COO's daughter's boyfriend should be?

I know it's wrong to think like this but I had slowly begun to hate my parents. They have always had control of what I do but when I drew the line as far as them telling me who and who I couldn't love it's like they didn't know how to accept it.

They wanted me to live a stimulation like Grayson's parents wanted him to.

We just were old enough to finally see and not allow it.

𝑵𝑶𝑾

I had finally finished Tommy's check-up and the weird thing was nothing was wrong but I could see what Joyce meant by 'He's just not right.'

I mean, his blood pressure was normal along with his vitals and heartbeat. But, he seemed out of it like his mind was in some sort of vacant daze.

It was strange he barely moved the entire time almost like he was ignoring me. But, there was something behind that blank stare.

It was strange.

"Well, Tommy, you're looking good. Are you struggling with any depression or anxiety possibly?" I then asked in search of something that I possibly had missed

"I'm fine. You, know Joy, she's always worried." He replied averting my question

"Yeah, well, do you have any plans this weekend?!" I asked while I began to jot some notes down on his check-up form

"I'm fine. You, know Joy, she's always worried." He repeated causing me to slowly turn my head to glance at him with furrowed eyebrows

Strange.

"Well, let's get you back to Joyce so she can take you home and you can get some rest." I then said causing him to stand and walk out of my exam room

I then placed the check-up sheet with his file and stashed it away in its alphabetical order along with my other patients' files before walking back out to the waiting room seeing Tommy had left Joyce in a confused manner as she stood there watching him exit the building.

"Is he alright, Talia?" She asked clearly worried

"His vitals are fine along with everything else. I have to meet with a specialist regarding a patient in Dallas on Monday. So, I'm thinking while I'm there we schedule him for a CT scan for that same day I'm in the city so I can take a good look with my colleague. Just to make sure everything is truly fine. Sound good?" I informed causing Joyce to nod as she said, "Yes. Of course."

I then placed my hand on her shoulder in a comforting manner before saying, "You need me, you call me. Day or night. Okay?"

"Yes. Thanks, Talia." She then said before picking up her purse and making her way out

I then locked the door behind her closing up my practice for today before sighing.

Now, let's take these tests.

Oh God.

I'm pregnant, after six painful and disappointing years of trying. I had met with all of the best of the best over the years and they all said the same thing.

I'd most likely never have another baby and would most likely never get pregnant again either. I even took three to be sure and my chorionic gonadotropin levels were through the roof.

Smiling I quickly began to clean up and discard the materials from my pregnancy tests before washing my hands and rushing to find my phone.

I had to tell Grayson. Most times I'd wait until we were face to face to give him big news, but my excitement and happiness had gotten the best of me.

I mean, I had so much adrenaline from being ecstatic I was trembling slightly as I pressed call on his contact with him picking up on the second dial tone.

"Baby!" I squealed happily the moment my husband answered

"Yes?" He said

God, I could feel the man's smile.

"I took three tests and they all came back positive!" I blurted while smiling so hard my cheeks began to ache

"We are going to have another baby?!" Grayson asked with his breath slightly hitched in surprise as he took in the news

"Yes!" I replied with a light-hearted laugh feeling my tears beginning to fall as his end went quiet minus the cheers of the kids at the game he was chaperoning

"Car, see that!" I then heard him say in a serious tone leaving me in a worried state as I wondered what was going on

"Gray?!" I called lowly

No response.

"Grayson, is everything okay?" I asked straightening up in my chair now anxious

"Baby, I'm going to have to call you back." He then said before abruptly hanging up the phone

What the hell was going on?
