"Are you buying this whole thing Mom is giving about not being sick?" Gracie asked me as I began to park in her school's parking lot

"Weeeeee belonggggg togetherrrr!" Me and Gracie sang as we danced in the middle of the dance floor to one of the songs she used to go crazy to when she was younger

The majority of the dads seemed to be either bored or bummed out that their daughters were now to school for these types of things which sucked for them, but for me and my daughter, we do this on a daily basis which meant we were living our best lives.

Personally, one thing I loved most about Gracelynn was the fact she didn't let the world and what it thought was cool cloud how she wanted to live her life.

I struggled with that a lot when I was her age. I wanted to reach my Mom and Dad's every expectation for me -being I was their only child- and I wanted to be accepted by my teammates.

Then one day I happened to see this bubbly cheerleader on the sidelines cheering for my team and ever since she has changed those thoughts of me seeking acceptance from those I shouldn't have cared about and the ones that should've accepted me for who I truly was.

Mom and Dad didn't accept me. But, my daughter and wife did every day.

I began serenading the song like a rockstar, of course, because it would have been a disgrace to my teenage years if not.

"Something is really wrong with you, Dad!" Birdy said still laughing at me of course

"Nope, I need the damn guitar. Someone's gotta do it right!" I rebutted causing her to laugh harder

"I'm going to the bathroom. I cannot with you anymore. Sheriff Ryker is going to be in the headlines for smashing that same guitar into the middle of the dance floor if I keep encouraging you" She ranted as she walked off causing me to smile and pull out my phone to call Talia

"Hello..." She said sweetly picking up immediately

"Hey, baby, you feeling better?" I asked hoping she was

"Yeah, a lot better actually now that I'm hearing your voice" She replied causing me to smile

"You just trying to flirt with me or actually are feeling better?" I asked

"I just said I am. How's Gracie?" My wife asked causing me to slightly shake my head as she diverted from my question

"She's great...but how are you, really, Talia?" I asked again causing her to laugh lowly

"You really do not need me to tell you that over the phone...I just really can't wait 'til you get here and are in bed with me so I can show you just how much better I am doing." She answered causing me to groan lowly

"Really?! All I need is your permission and I'll get to everything and more you'd like" I rebutted

"Permission granted. Have fun, baby, I will continue to think about that" She replied causing my mind to roam in very bad places

"I love you more, bye!" She replied hanging up causing me to chuckle lowly at the fact she did that before we went into the who loved who more thing that usually happened when one of us said that

"Hey, Dad..." I heard Gracie say causing me to turn and face her

"Yeah..." She replied

"Okay, so go back to the bathroom and I will run to the truck and get you some stuff your Mom leaves in there for things like this and I will be right back," I said causing her to nod and begin making her way back to the bathroom

I then quickly made my way outside to my truck and looked into the dashboard grabbing one of Talia's pads and medicine placing them into my pocket and rushing back in.

Once I made it to the girl's bathroom I called Gracie lowly down the little hallway at the entrance.

She then came around the corner causing me to slip her the pad and medicine before going around the corner to wait for her.

A few minutes later she came back looking so sad that it broke my heart causing me to hug her and say, "It's okay. We can still party if you want"

"I'm going to kill Mom she wished this on me," She said causing me to laugh lowly

"She didn't wish it on you. She said it was going to happen soon" I replied kissing her head

"Same thing!" She rebutted

"I'm really hungry and sleepy now." She then said

"I can go get you some food because you are going to need it with that medicine. Then I'll take you home so you can shower and get some rest and Mom will get you more stuff for that" I proposed causing her to nod

"Can I get chicken, fries, cookies, and ice cream?" She blurted causing me to laugh

"Yes, you can," I replied as we began making our way out of the school

"You guys are home sooner than I expected," Talia said as we walked through the front door

"Well, I got my period because of you," Gracie said as she walked over to us with a smile

"It's Mother Mary, baby girl, it happens to every girl" She rebutted causing me to not say anything knowing how these mood swings can be

Talia then hugged her and said, "You are going to be fine. Have you had any medicine?!"

"Yeah, it's making me feel like I'm about to fall out" Birdy replied

"Alright, baby, go ahead and get ready for bed so you can get your rest and I will bring you some pads and tampons to your room. Oh, yeah, and a heating pad." Talia said as Gracie began to head upstairs to her room

"Hey, Sheriff" She then said placing her undivided attention on me

As time passed I found myself taking a nice long shower before making my way out with a towel wrapped around my waist.
