3 • The fighting beauty
Suna had had enough of waiting.
It was cold.
Her butt hurt.
She was bored.
And then her father finally stepped out of his tent.
Behind him came Aline.
She seemed much happier and more hopeful and that made Suna happy.
She jumped up and ran towards the two.
What could they have been talking about?
"Suna, how about you show Aline the camp and introduce her to the others?", asked the lion.
"I'll do it!", Suna said happily and eagerly pulled Aline with her.
"Can't we walk normally?", Aline asked after a few seconds.
"Nope," Suna said simply and giggled.
"You're my friend now, which means you have to put up with me the way I am!"
Aline groaned.
"Now I understand why I've never had friends before," she murmured. "Because they couldn't stand me..."
Suna stopped abruptly. "I don't think so," she said, turning to face her.
Aline looked at her unsure.
"I think you have a beautiful personality, it's just deep, deep inside in you and you have to dig into yourself to find it, like a treasure buried deep down in the earth. And the greatest treasure is that which lies deepest. And your beautiful personality lies pretty deep!", Suna declared confidently.
When she talked like this, most people always looked at her as if she were telling some wild story she had dreamed of.
As if she were talking big nonsense.
But Aline looked at her very strangely, as if she had to process what she had said first.
After a little silence, she said:"You know that was pretty cheesy?"
Suna started to grin.
"Yeeeaaah!" she giggled.
And then she pulled Aline further with her, into the snowy camp.
It didn't take long to introduce Aline to everyone, because most of them were together in the meadow to practice sword fighting, and no one hated her for her mother as Suna had expected.
It didn't take much time to show Aline the camp either, because it was still quite small.
So Suna and Aline went back to the fighting meadow.
Oreius saw the two arrive and trotted over to them.
Aline looked around again in amazement, although she had already seen it.
"Can you fight with the sword?" Oreius asked her.
Aline nodded in surprise.
The centaur smiled and handed one of his two swords to Aline.
Suna, who got what Oreius wanted, also drew her sword and stood in front of Aline with a grin.
"I have to warn you, I'm pretty good," she said. "We'll see," said Aline and went into attack position.
Oreius stood to the side, then the two girls began.
Suna found out, that Aline was a rather good swordswoman.
But she also realised that Aline fought bitter and hard like this was a test and she needed to pass it.
It looked like Aline would win but Suna gained new strength through the thought that everyone was watching now.
In the end, Aline won, but Suna got compliments from the few Narnians that she "had fought like a lioness".
The typical comments.
Aline smiled and pushed her long, white hair out of her face. Suna saw, that she was pleased with what she did.
"Well, Aline", Oreius said. "You're a good fighter. I would be thrilled to have you in the army when you're older."
Aline's face lit up and Suna smiled. She was glad that Aline was happy.
Later the two of them found themselves on a walk through the camp.
"You can fight pretty well", Suna said.
"You're not bad either", Aline said shyly.
"Thanks", Suna said and smiled. "But do you know what I'm curious about?"
Aline shrugged. "What?"
"Why you were able to see Oliver! I just don't get it!"
"Well...", Aline said.
"What?"
"Aslan talked to me about that."
"And?"
"I'm kind of... I'm kind of the "Queen" of the dragons or something like that. I can give them orders, talk to them in thoughts and all that", Aline answered shyly.
"Wow!" Suma grinned excitedly. „It's like straight out of a fairy tale!"
Aline made a face.
"If I don't get a prince, I will agree with that."
Suna laughed.
The same evening the girls lay in their beds in Suna's tent and somehow started to talk about the future.
"But imagine someday", Suna started, "someone comes, saves your life and you fall in love! That would be so so cute!"
"Why would I need someone to save me?", Aline asked confused.
"Because it's cute and it shows that they care for you!"
"Pff", Aline said and turned around.
Suna smiled. Maybe Aline was older, but Suna felt like she had much more to learn than she.

"Oliver?", Aline asked.
"Hm?"
"If I am...the "queen of dragons", I could give you orders, right?"
Oliver nodded.
"Probably", he said.
"Do you want to try?"
Aline looked up.
"Why should I try to give you an order?"
Oliver shrugged.
"Uhm, okay, so...bring me Suna!"
Oliver's eyes turned silver.
"Oliver?", Aline asked.
"As you wish, your majesty", he said.
Aline went pale.
"Oliver! Stop that nonsense!!", Aline yelled, but Oliver turned around and Aline watched as he flew away.
What was going on?
Scared Aline waited.
Oliver came back, with Suna in his hand.
When Suna saw Aline, she asked:"What is going on here?"
"I don't know!", Aline exclaimed.
Oliver's eyes scared her.
Looking into these magic, silver eyes, she decided, that she would never ever give anyone orders again.
He dropped Suna to the ground and finally his eyes turned back brown.

Another few months had gone by and Suna loved seeing Aline happy. She didn't even know why, but the girl was important to her.
Oliver liked Aline too, maybe because of the dragon thing, but also Carlos started to like her, so maybe it was just because Aline had a beautiful personality, deep, deep down.
"Do you know what?", Aline said one day, while all four of them were sitting on a small hill and watching the camp.
"What?", Suna asked.
"We need a place where we can go, a place, no one knows!", Aline said.
"Ooh, yes!", Suna said. "I have the perfect idea for that! We only need something like... a plank!"
"A plank?", Carlos asked. "You two want to become pirates?"
Suna burst out into laughter.
"No! I want to build a swing!", she said laughing.
"We could ask the centaurs!", Aline said.
Suna jumped up.
"Are you coming?"
The other three followed her down the hill.
Suna wanted to ask her strategy teacher, who currently was in the tent with the many maps.
"Filosios?", she asked and walked in, stumbled over one map holder, which was just like an umbrella holder, and fell to the ground. The ten centaurs in the tent looked down at her.
"Uhm", she said embarrassed.
Aline appeared behind her and fell over her leg. Oliver, who was too big for the entrance ripped the tent and almost brought it to fall. Carlos didn't even come in anymore.
"What is it now?", Filosios sighed.
Suna quickly got up.
"We wanted to ask you for something", she said with a nervous smile.
"And what?"
"A plank", Aline said and also got up. "For a plank."
"A plank? For a simple plank you come here, almost destroy our tent and disturb us?", one of the other centaurs asked.
"We're sorry! We really didn't want to disturb you or destroy your tent!", Suna apologised.
Filosios left the tent and came back with a wooden plank.
"Is that enough?", he asked.
Sina smiled thankfully. "Yes. Thank you!", she said.
Filosios nodded and Suna and Aline left the tent quickly.
Oliver stared at them, red all over his body.
"Yes, let's ask the centaurs!", he grumbled.
Aline laughed. "Next time we'll ask someone else!"
❥︎
Three years later, Suna sat on a swing.
The girls had built it themselves, with the plank from the centaurs.
About fifteen minutes away from Cair Paravel was a cliff and on that stood one, big tree.
So Suna always sat on the swing, her feet floating over the gorge and Aline sat in the tree, so she could look at Suna when they talked.
"Do you want to visit Mr. Tumnus?", Aline suddenly asked. She had been with the faun a few days ago and wanted to visit him since then all the time.
"Don't you have strategy lessons?"
"Damn!"
"I could wait for you", Suna said.
"No, no, you can go. I'll be after you!", Aline said, jumped from the tree, and ran back to the camp.
Suna looked after her before she got off the swing, turned into a lioness, and ran towards the lantern waste.
She knocked on Tumnus' door and he opened it, looking a little nervous.
"Oh... Suna. Why are you here?" he asked, closing the door behind her.
"I wanted to visit you. But if you don't have time, I can leave again!"
"Oh, please not! It's just... the Secret Police could stand in my doorway anytime now..."
"What? Why?", Suna asked shocked.
"Well, I met...a... human!" He looked around, before whispering the last word.
"What?", Suna exclaimed.
"She said she was from Spare Oome in Ward'robe, but that doesn't make sense, right?"
"Not really..."
Suna heard wolves barking.
"They're coming", she whispered and fear filled her mind.
"Hide! In the closet there!", Mr. Tumnus ordered.
Suna climbed in and the faun closed the door behind her.
From the wolves she didn't notice much, her main priority was being silent, but when the Secret Police started making trouble in the house, and the closet fell over and she hit her face, she couldn't help but groan.
Fortunately, the wolves didn't notice and after a while, they got lost.
And so was Mr. Tumnus.
Lost.
Why had she gone into the closet? She could've helped him! And now he was a prisoner and she was trapped.
For a long time, nothing happened. The taste of blood faded but she felt it at her jaw.
Suddenly she heard steps.
