"We have a rather interesting cadet joining us."

"Hmm?" Erwin hummed, looking up from his paperwork when a soldier walked in with a cadet's file. Which he would have to evaluate. Something he did when new cadets joined the Survey Corp.

"Her name is Pariza Al Ghul. Ring any bells?" he said, placing her file on his desk.

Erwin knew that name. Al Ghul was a very uncommon surname on Paradis Island. In fact, it sounded rather foreign but he knew who that name belonged to. Lieutenant Cyrus Al Ghul, a strong leader and warrior. Whom tragically died when Wall Maria fell.

He knew because he was there. He witnessed his death before him. But Erwin wasn't the one who had to inform his parents of the heartbreaking news.

Cyrus was crushed by a huge piece of the wall and told Erwin to help the people of Shiganshina, rather than die trying to help him. It was an incredibly sorrowful moment for Erwin. For, he looked up to Cyrus.

Cyrus was someone who was his confidant and friend. So to see his death in front of him, messed him up because he couldn't help but think of Naisha and their then little girl. He left behind his family for the sake of humanity.

And Erwin didn't want his hard work to go to waste.

Now, he sees that his only child, Pariza Al Ghul decided to enlist and he couldn't help but think about her parents.

"Cyrus' daughter?" Erwin questioned, looking over her enlisting papers. "How interesting...."

"Yeah," the soldier said. "Seeing her now, you would think it's like looking at a ghost of Mrs. Al Ghul, she looks so much like her mother."

"I bet..." Erwin trailed off, thinking for a moment. "I'm going to ride out on the fields tomorrow. Just to evaluate the cadet training."

Come on, Eren..... Pariza thought anxiously as she, Armin and Mikasa stood with the other cadet as Eren was being strapped into his ODM belt.

"I hope he passes." She mumbled nervously as she grabbed onto Mikasa's hand.

Mikasa wordlessly and emotionlessly laced her fingers with hers as she watched Eren begin his aptitude test.

Everyone watched as Eren seemed to have had it down. Which sent hope through his friend's bodies. Only to fall short when he, once again, flipped upside down and nearly gave himself a concussion.

"Wait, I can do this!" Eren called out, seeing as Shadis was about to end it. "I can do it."

"Give him your belt." Shadis told one of his assistants.

The assistan did was he was told and replace Eren's belt with his. Once he was strapped in, the test began again as they cranked up the machine.

Pariza and Armin watched with nervousness while Mikasa just watched blankly.

Once he was up, Eren was able to perfectly balance his body onto the belt. To which, he celebrated by smiling widely. Armin sighed in relief as Mikasa gave him a small smile. Pariza smiled just as wide as he did, happy that he was able to pass now.

And as they were silently celebrating, Shadis examined the belt once more. "Hmm....it seems that this one is broken."

"Broken?!" a random cadet said incredulously. "He passed with a broken belt?!"

Broken? Pariza thought, frowning a little. It was amazing to see he was able to do it still but on the outside, the belt seemed perfectly fine. Maybe the inside was busted a little. Maybe that's why he wasn't able to get it the first few tries.

Either way, she was happy that he was able to get it properly.

After Shadis gave the okay to Eren, he was finally free from the belt and he ran to his friends.

"Eren!" Pariza exclaimed, before being tackled into a hug by Eren. He even lifted her up in the air and spun around a couple of times. She squeaked, thrown off guard by his hug.

"I did it!" He chanted over and over again, spinning her around in his arms, which was making her very dizzy.

Mikasa stopped him before she got sick. "Stop spinning her around, she'll get sick."

Eren listened to her and sat her down again. "Sorry, Pari. I'm just happy!"

"We're happy for you, too." Armin said, patting him on the back.

A full day of training started as Shadis made them due a few drills before they had to work on their combat. Since Mikasa and Pariza were paired up to spar, it was a very tiring day for her.

She might know a few things about fighting because of her father but she wasn't like Mikasa. Who was like an expert at combat. Any time she would fall, Mikasa would help her up and tell her what she should do and what she shouldn't do.

Even having moments where she would help her with her stance. And because the scene looked rather.....romantic to many of the male cadets, some couldn't help but to stop and stare at the two girls interacting.

"Man...." Jean mumbled, marveling at the both of them. "They are such goddesses."

"Keep dreaming, man." Reiner said, crossing his arms. "It seems like they are spoken for."

"By who?" Jean asked, whipping his head towards him.

But Reiner just nodded towards the two again. "Can't you see? They're way too close to be just friends with each other. Why do you think they always seem to cling onto each other?"

"It seems like Al Ghul is the one that always cling onto her." Bertholdt pointed out curiously. "She always seem to be the one to hug her in some way or even holding her hand in some way....If I didn't know any better, I would say Mikasa and Al Ghul are in love."

"That's not true." Eren cut in. "Armin and I grew up with Pari and Mikasa. They've always been like this."

Truth be told, Eren was always secretly jealous of Pariza and Mikasa's closeness. How they naturally just gravitated towards each other. How Mikasa would always be on her feet whenever Pariza would need or want her.

It was silly for him to think that because Pariza treated him and Armin the same way all of their lives but with Mikasa, it always seemed different and more....natural than it is with him. And it made him envious to see how Mikasa and her looked very much like they belong.

And he didn't know who he was jealous of. Pariza or Mikasa?

They all watched as Mikasa stood behind Pariza, aligning her hips and legs in the right position and straightening up her arms for her while she was telling her what to do and how to do a certain fighting move.

"If it were the case...." Reiner trailed off, staring at Pariza's golden tan skin shine in the sun light. "I can see why....she's very enchanting..."

"You're right." Bertholdt agreed. "I've never seen someone with skin and eyes like hers."

"She's a goddess." Jean swooned.

Eren rolled his eyes at them. Of course, he agreed with their thought but seeing as he grew up with Pariza, he knew not to act like a lovestruck idiot when she was of visual sight of him. Keep that for private moments.

After dinner, it came time for everyone to get to bed. But as Pariza tried to sleep, she couldn't get comfortable enough to even feel a little bit tired. Feeling frustrated, she groaned inaudibly and tossed the blankets off of her body.

Careful not to wake up her roommates, she slowly crept out of their room and into the quiet hallway.

The hallway was dimly lit by a few candles and the moonlight that casted through the balcony opening. Whenever she had trouble sleeping, she would sometimes stargaze until she had cleared her mind.

Pariza quietly tipped toed down the hallway, knowing she could get into so much trouble if she was caught. The last thing she needed was Shadis catching her out and about in her night gown. That would not only be embarrasing, but it would mean he would make her run around the entire place until her feet bleed.

She already had him watching her like a hawk because of the type of cadet her father was, she didn't want him to see her as a troublemaker.

"What are you doing?" A cold and bored voice made Pariza jump and nearly squeal out loud as she turned to see Annie standing a few feet away from her, also in a night gown.

Her hair was out of it's usual low bun and she looked at her as if she would rather be somewhere else, rather than catching a fellow cadet in a darkened hallway.

"I-I uh...I couldn't sleep." She whispered, admittedly as she giggled a little.

Annie looked her over. She had no reason to lie to her and she could already tell this girl was terrible at being deceptive so she believed her. Though standing here, she could tell why this girl got all of the male cadets into a tilt-a-whirl.

The way the moonlight shined on her golden skin, illuminating sparkles off of her high points and bare shoulders like she was some goddess of the night, her hair looked impossibly long and it was the same color as the night sky. Her eyes glowed in the dimly lit hall. Annie could definitely see why she's popular amogst the male cadets.

"Hmmm...." Annie hummed, still staring at her blankly. "Well, I was just heading to an open rootop area....You're welcomed to join or not. I don't care."

"Oh!" Pariza nearly exclaimed, shocked to see that she was inviting her to come with her. Annie didn't seem the type to even want friends. "O-Okay."

"You always come up here by yourself?"

Pariza sat next to Annie as the night breeze ran through their hair gracefully. The two sat right on the ledge of the roof together and for the first 5 minutes, neither of them said anything.

Suddenly curious about her, Pariza was the first to break the silence.

"Not always." Annie said, giving her a short answer.

Silence fell between them again and Pariza wasn't sure how to start up a conversation with her. Annie sure was hard to talk to. But she didn't want to think negatively of her. She hadn't given her a reason to feel such a way.

"If you got something to ask me, just do it." Annie said, peering at her from the corner of her eye. "Don't just sit there and stare at me."

"Oh!" Pariza blushed a little, not realizing that she was staring at her. "I'm sorry. It seems as though I can't stop staring at pretty things hahaha."

Annie's eyebrow twitched upward as she slowly turned to face her. Did she really just say that to her? "Pretty?"

Pariza paused again, realizing what she said again. "A-Ah! I'm sorry! I sometimes speak so fast, I never know what will come out, you know?! Hahaha."

"You're very talkative." Annie pointed out, bluntly. "But lucky for you, I can handle one talkative idiot at a time."

She must be talking about Eren Pariza thought, sweat dropping. "W-Well, I'm glad you approve of me."

"Hmm." Annie hummed, leaning on her knees as she stared at the night sky. Pariza sat there next to her, her legs also bent upwards with her arms folded over her knees. The light breeze picked up slightly as the trees shook with the wind.

"We should get back inside before anyone else catches us." Annie said, swinging her legs over the safe side of the ledge and hopping down. "You coming, Golden?"

"G-Golden?" Pariza echoed, hopping down as well.

"You got golden skin and I can't actually pronounce your name correctly." Annie explained, as emotionless as she usually is. "So, I'm calling you Golden. Take it or leave it."

"I'll take it!" Pariza smiled brightly at her, thinking she was gaining her as a friend now. "Then I'll call you pretty, from now on."

Annie looked at her with slight suprise as she felt her cheeks grow a little hotter by the second. She wasn't expecting something like that coming from Pariza and she wasn't sure on how she felt about the girl giving her a nickname like that.

Then again, she would be a hypocrite for thinking that because she just gave her one. Either way, she wasn't sure why she was blushing. She has been called pretty many times from many different people. Why does it feel a little different now?

"Let's go before-"

"So I heard that she wears white underwear. That means she's totally untouched."

"Really? No way, Floch! You're lying."

Annie, without warning, grabbed Pariza's hand and took off running the opposite direction. Pariza nearly lost her footing but quickly ran with her.

The two girls made it to the staircase that lead to the roof and quietly climb down. Just as they got to the main hallways, they noticed another candle light coming from one end of the hallway.

"He's getting better, I reckon but he has a lot to work on than just going in with blind rage." They heard Shadis speak to whoever he was walking with.

Shit...Annie thought, trying to think of a plan.

"We can't be seen!" Pariza whispered to her as Shadis' voice got closer to them.

Annie looked around and noticed a small storage closet right beside them. "In here." She mumbles, pulling her into the closet after she swung the door open.

The closet was small and barely had anything in it. Just new mops and a few cleaning supplies. There was barely any light but the hallway candle's light seeped through the cracks of the woodened door enough to see their faces in the dark.

Pariza noticed how close she was to Annie. And how she was a few inches taller than her. But not by much.

Her eyes traveled over her entire face. She noticed just how beautiful Annie really was up close. And she smelled like the forest and the flowers her grandmother sold on the streets of Mitras.

But it was her eyes that made her stare so much. How bright and pretty they were. They were so blue, Pariza was reminded of the blue sky. And as cold as she was, her eyes made her feel very warm.

"I think they're gone now." Annie whispered, not even noticing her staring.

The blonde looked at her funny. She was wondering why she was gawking at her? Did she not hear what she said?

"Golden.....we can go now."

"Oh!" Pariza snapped out of her daze as Annie opened the door again. "Sorry, again."

"You find me that pretty or something?" Annie asked, her voice was laced with a hint of humor as she made sure no one else was coming.

Pariza giggled sheepishly as they made their way back to their rooms. "Well, I did say I can never stop staring at pretty things."

Annie offered her a very very small curve on the corner of her lips before she let it disappear again.

One thing's for sure. There was never a dull moment with Pariza.

"So this is my stop." Pariza said, as they stopped right in front of her room. "I'll definitely sleep now, haha."

"Don't go getting yourself in trouble, Golden." Annie said before turning to return to her room.

Pariza watched her walk away, smiling softly at her. Her room was only five doors down so she could see her go inside.

Annie paused and turned to Pariza before she stepped inside. Pariza smiled at her and waved before opening her doon.

Annie nearly frowned as she felt her face grow hot again. Why was this happening? What was her deal?

With one last unsure wave, she walked into her room and quietly closed the door. Being careful not to wake up her roommates. But all she could think about as she laid down in her bed was Pariza and the small effect she already had on her.
