02. he did deserve it

LORELAI WALKED OUT of the house when she heard the horn of the house. Olivia was waiting outside the door. She looked her up and down and grabbed her hand.

"We'll be back in two minutes, boys!" she shouted at the T-Birds before pushing Lori inside.

"What's wrong?" asked the brunette.

"We're going to make an entrance that no one will forget."

Olivia opened Lori's closet. She didn't have as many clothes as her best friend. She mainly dressed in thrift stores or garage sales because she and her brother could not afford to buy anything else. Olivia still managed to find a dress and adjust it so that it highlights Lorelai's curves.

"Are you sure about this?" she asked as they were walking towards the school after they get out of the car.

"I am. Just follow my  lead." Olivia smiled at her.

They were both wearing a vest that hid their outfit because Olivia wanted to show them at the last moment. Lorelai wasn't very comfortable being the center of attention but she was doing it for Olivia.

Cynthia arrived and started walking near them. She was forced to wear a skirt because it was the rule but everyone knew she hated it so Richie couldn't help but comment about it.

"Oh, look, it's the belle of the ball!"

"Change your face, Richie, or I'll rearrange it." Cynthia threatened.

"Let her do it, Chato! Can't get uglier than what you've got now!" Olivia giggled.

The twins started talking in Spanish and Cynthia came near Lorelai.

"Hi." she smiled. "Feeling better than yesterday?"

"Yes, thanks to you." the brunette replied. "I think talking with you kind of helped me."

"Cool." Cynthia nodded.

Olivia put a hand on Lori's shoulder.

"You ready?"

"Not really." she replied.

Olivia laughed and lowered her friend's cardigan to reveal her outfit. Lorelai took it off completely as Olivia imitated her. Richie tried to hide his sister but she grabbed her best friend's hand before throwing her own cardigan over her shoulder. Lorelai did the same and they walked up the sidewalk together. It was obvious Lorelai wasn't as comfortable as her friend but she did try to seem confident. Olivia was wearing a tight red skirt and a button-up shirt with a yellow scarf. Lorelai's colors were more subdued, she wore pastel green and white. Her dress was tight on her chest but the bottom was flared veil.

Everyone was staring at them. The boys especially were looking at them longingly and whistling as they walked past them. Olivia didn't pay attention but Lorelai had never been looked at that way and honestly it was kind of freaking her out.

The girls separated once inside the high school as they had different classes. Lorelai rushed to sit in the last row and silently took out her things, taking care to avoid people's eyes. It wasn't easy since many of them were staring and laughing at her.

The period seemed to move into an unbearably slow pace. Lori was bouncing her pen on her notebook, staring desperately at the clock hoping to see the hand quicken. When finally it was time for lunch, she stuffed her things into her bag and stormed out of the room.

She went to the football field because Olivia and the T-Birds sometimes ate on the bleachers. When she arrived, Olivia wasn't there so she sat down with Cynthia and the boys.

"How was your first day back?" Shy Guy asked her.

"Fine, I guess."

"What did you do this summer?" Potato continued.

"Uh, I worked as a camp cunselor for three weeks. And then I worked at my brother's store." she replied, surprised by his question. They had never been close, so she didn't think he would have been interest in her summer.

"Didn't do anything else?" Gil asked in a weird voice and Cynthia hit his arm with a dirty look.

"Okay, um.. why all these questions?" the girl worried.

"It's nothing. They're just dumb." Cynthia told her.

"We aren't." Potato exclaimed.

Their attention was caught by Susan and Richie who were talking next the bleachers.

"Are you going to ask me on another date or what?" the blonde girl asked.

"I'm real sorry but I can't." Richie replied.

"Why?"

"Because, kissing you is like going through a car wash, without a car!" he exclaimed and everyone laughed at Susan, causing her to scream.

"Richie Valdovinos, you're despicable!"

She ran towards her cheerleaders friends and the football team.

"Uh-oh." Gil said.

The whole gang walked off the bleachers to follow Richie, so Lorelai followed them. Olivia got out from under the bleachers and joined them. Susan was yelling.

"I had one soda with him last night to be nice! And now he won't leave me alone!"

"She's flipped!" Richie exclaimed. "She's been tracking me like a bloodhound all day!"

"As if I would chase after a boy like him." Susan crossed her arms.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Olivia asked.

"It means she doesn't wanna be bothered by any lowlife, dirty greasers." Neil replied. "Or their whores." he added, looking at Olivia and Lorelai.

"Nobody talks about-" Richie rushed towards the boy but he was cut off as one of the Socs grabbed him and put him down.

The rest of the T-Birds were ready to put up a fight but Jane Facciano ran towards them and stood between the two groups.

"Wait!" she yelled. "Richie is telling the truth! I saw it, I was under the bleachers."

"Well, that figures." Susan mocked.

"Richie rejected Susan for a second date." Jane declared. "Not the other way around. But, he was a little rude about it."

"Richie Valdovinos has never even had a second date." Cynthia said.

"Not with a girl like her." Olivia added.

"A girl like you doesn't have any lesson to give." Neil replied. "But you should be happy that you're not the only slut in school anymore." he mocked as he looked at Jane and then, at Lorelai.

Everyone looked at her. She felt her legs shaking. She looked towards Milo who was smiling as Neil patted his back.

"What did you say?" she asked as her voice broke a little.

"The truth." he replied calmly as he looked into her eyes. "I broke up with you because you cheated on me during the summer, like the whore you've always been."

"That's not what happened." she said as she came closer to him. "You know that's not what happened."

She felt her breath quicker and she felt so stupid. Of course Milo couldn't let her go without destroying her life. He always had to be in control of everyone. She should have known. She should have been careful. She shouldn't even have gone out with him in the first place.

"You're pathetic." he laughed. "I broke up with you, get over it. Stop stalking me, weirdo."

His friends laughed. Lorelai felt she was dizzy. Normally she would have left or looked down, but that day she was fed up with him treating her like garbage and she didn't want to give up like that, not when everyone was staring at her that way.

"You're disgusting." she said.

"I'm not the one who cheated. Fucking whore."

Without thinking, Lorelai's fist crashed into Milo's face. He screamed in surprise and took a few steps back in shock, holding his nose. Everyone jumped and gasped in surprise. Lori clapped her hands over her mouth, shocked at her own action.

"Fuck! I'm bleeding!" Milo exclaimed. "Crazy bitch!"

"What the fuck is wrong with you!" Neil pushed her.

"Hey, don't touch her!" Richie pushed him back as Cynthia grabbed Lori's arm to make her move back since she was still frozen in shock.

"Stop!" Jane tried to stop them.

Cynthia didn't let go of Lorelai's arm and started to run, dragging her with her, as Olivia followed them. They ran to the entrance of the school and Cynthia burst out laughing when they stopped.

"That was so cool! Right in the nose!" she exclaimed.

"I don't know why I did that, I'm usually against violence." Lorelai muttered.

"This lying bastard deserved it." Cynthia assured.

"He did deserve it." Olivia told her friend with a soft smile.

The brunette nodded and forced a smile. Yes, he had no right to talk to her that way and he deserved to be put back in his place. But why was she feeling so much guilt then?
