"OKAY, spill it."

stella shoots sebastian a look. "spill what?"

daisy rolls her eyes. "stella, we've known you for years. we know when you're hiding something."

zoe raises her eyebrows. "and you're definitely hiding something right now."

stella debates lying. it would be difficult, but she could convince her friends that nothing is wrong and that she's completely happy and well.

but she isn't sure she wants to keep things to herself anymore.

she did that back when she was dating hunter. she didn't tell anyone the kinds of things he would say to her, and she definitely didn't tell them the first time he cheated on her or the second. but keeping all of that shit to herself only led to her own downfall, and she doesn't have the energy to do that anymore.

which is why she tells her friends everything.

about hunter threatening her the other day with all those pictures as blackmail and what he said about louis. about how terrified she is that maybe hunter isn't just bullshitting her and he could actually ruin her reputation.

when she finishes, her friends stare at her in silence.

and then zoe slams her hand on the table and stands.

"take me to the fucking asshole right now. what fucking right does he have to say all that shit? call you a slut? he's the biggest fucking manwhore i've ever met!"

daisy nods in agreement and places a comforting hand on her girlfriend's arm but keeps her eyes on stella.

"stells, you know he's not going to do shit, right? how many times has he pulled stunts like this only to backpedal at the end?"

sebastian nods, grabbing stella's hand. "and even if he does, your fans know you better than that. we know you better than that. we'll support you no matter what, alright?"

stella sniffles, nodding once. the three friends embrace the brunette, crowding around the small booth at the diner they always go to.

for a long time, they just stay like that. stella immediately feels a weight lifted off of her chest as her friends surround her with their warmth and their genuine words of comfort. she wonders why she ever used to keep things to herself when she feels so much better by just letting it all out.

for the next hour, the friends just laugh and eat their food and talk shit about whichever people pop up in their heads. stella feels a million times lighter, and she's so grateful for all her friends who never judge her no matter what.

when they're waiting for the waitress to come back so they can order dessert, zoe gasps as she looks down at her phone. with furrowed brows, daisy glances over at the screen and widens her eyes.

"what?" sebastian asks since he's sitting on the opposite side next to stella.

daisy and zoe both send stella a sympathetic look. she just stares back at them in utter confusion.

"what, guys?"

daisy bites her bottom lip. "it's probably nothing. you know how all these magazines just make shit up for views."

stella grows even more worried. "give me your phone, zoe."

"stella—"

"just give me the phone."

zoe sighs and hands her the phone. sebastian glances over stella's shoulder, and they both look down at the headline.

"meet louis partridge's new girlfriend: celeste mckay"

below is a picture of louis with his arm around a blonde girl that stella recognizes as a model william has worked with before. it's at the party from a few weeks ago.

in the back of her mind, stella realizes that hunter must have taken this picture and tipped off some reporter.

"you okay, stells?" sebastian asks quietly.

she swallows but nods, handing zoe her phone back.

"it's probably not true," zoe offers.

"yeah, you know how people will do anything for clout," daisy adds.

stella just shakes her head sadly, forcing a smile. "maybe. but i guess this is a sign that it's time to get over him. after all, it's been seven fucking years."

"stella..." daisy sends her a sad look.

the brunette smiles, this time a genuine smile.

"it's okay, guys. really. yes, it hurts, but i'll get over it. i always do, don't i?"

but even as she says it, she knows that this time is different.

this time, she had let herself start to believe that maybe something could actually happen between her and her brother's best friend.

the rest of the group is unconvinced at her attempt of staying nonchalant but doesn't say anything more which stella is grateful for. she'd rather just process this alone and make the decision to get over him once she's alone in her room.

while the others start talking about something else, stella's phone chimes with a message. glancing down, she sees that it's from calum, who she's been texting since the party.

i feel like the other countries should have the chance to experience the original eras tour with all of the original songs from the eras and that ttpd should only be in the surprise songs section. i feel bad if she takes away songs from other albums that people in other countries were looking forward to and don't get a chance to experience.
