❝Let go of me, you fucking bastard!❞

Athena was still sat in the dropship after she had started bulding a tent, with limited resources.

Easy-peasy.

She thinks, when she's interrupted by someone opening the latch.

She shines the flashlight on the figure and nearlt drops it.

"Callum?"

"Athena,"

She stands up at the same time he pulls his body out of the hatch and they meet in a warm hug.

"Oh my gosh," she breathes out in shock.

"How are you even here, you're 20!"

As Athena and Callum embraced, she couldn't shake the disbelief coursing through her veins.

Callum Hays. Also a council kid, has the title of Wells' best friend. He was like an older brother to Athena.

"I helped Wells get a spot dropship and managed to get on too. I came to be with you guys."

A wide smile stretches on Athenas face, not aware of the acts he had to commit to make his way down there.

The last time she had seen her older brother's best friend, he had been a teenager like herself.

Now, here he stood before her, a grown man who had somehow managed to navigate the complexities of Ark politics to join them in their journey to the ground.

Callum's presence brought a sense of comfort and familiarity to Athena, easing the tension that had been building within her since they had crash-landed on Earth.

"Callum," she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper as she pulled away from their embrace. "Thank you for coming."

He grinned, a mischievous twinkle in his eye that reminded her of their childhood antics.

"Wouldn't miss it for the world, little sis," he replied, tousling her hair affectionately.

Athena couldn't help but laugh at his playful gesture, feeling a sense of warmth wash over her at the sight of his familiar grin.

For a moment, it was as if they were back on the Ark, sneaking around the corridors and causing trouble wherever they went.

But reality soon intruded on their moment of nostalgia, reminding Athena of the dangers that lurked beyond the walls of the dropship.

He glanced around the dimly lit interior, acutely aware of the uncertainty that lay ahead.

"We need to be careful," he said, his tone serious as he turned back to Athena. "There are people out there who will do anything to survive, even if it means hurting others."

Athena's expression grew somber, her playful demeanor fading as she took in his words.

"I know, Cal," she replied, her voice tinged with concern. "But we'll stick together, just like old times. We'll watch each other's backs and make it through this, no matter what."

Callum nodded, she smiled; A feeling surge of determination welling up inside her.

With Callum by her side, she knew that they stood a fighting chance against whatever challenges awaited them on the ground.

Together, they began to make plans for the days ahead, their voices mingling with the sounds of the wilderness outside as they prepared to face the unknown together.

And as they huddled together in the dimly lit dropship, Athena couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope stirring within her heart.

━━━━━━

The cool, think air of the summer night filled her lungs as she stepped out of the dropship, eyes wandering.

She wanted to find her brother, and make sure he was safe.

But as she ventured into the darkness, her senses heightened, she heard the unmistakable sound of voices nearby.

Curiosity piqued, Athena followed the noise until she stumbled upon a scene that made her blood run cold. There, in the flickering light from the moon, stood Bellamy and his boys, restraining her brother.

Fear gripped her chest as she caught sight of the gun in Bellamy's hand, the glint of metal sending a shiver down her spine.

For a moment, irrational panic threatened to overwhelm her, but Athena forced herself to push past it. She couldn't let her fear hold her back, not when her twin was on the line.

Summoning every ounce of courage she had, Athena stepped forward, her voice steady despite the tremble in her limbs. "Let him go," she demanded, her eyes blazing with determination.

To her surprise, Murphy and Atom complied immediately, releasing Wells from their grasp. But Bellamy didn't take kindly to her interference, his expression darkening with anger as he turned to face her.

"You have no right to interfere, Jaha," he growled, his voice low and menacing.

But Athena was too tired and too upset to back down now. With a fierceness she didn't know she possessed, she launched into a tirade, giving Bellamy a piece of her mind. Every ounce of frustration and anger she had been holding inside spilled out in a torrent of words, each one more cutting than the last.

"You think you can just go around, waving that gun, thinking you own everything and everyone? Well, you don't. You don't get to decide who lives and who dies. They aren't your pawns to play with," she scoffed.

She took a step closer to Bellamy, her gaze unflinching despite the fear that still lingered in the back of her mind.

"You wanna talk about or dad? But your no better than the council, using fear and intimidation to control people. But I won't let you. I won't let you hurt anyone else, not if I have anything to say about it."

As Athena stood her ground, her pink-streaked hair catching the moonlight, Bellamy couldn't help but be struck by it.

Despite the chaos around them, he found himself admiring the vibrant hue of her hair, a stark contrast to the darkness of the night.

He watched as strands of pink framed her face, the color adding to her aura.

It was as if the brightness of her hair reflected the fire burning within her, refusing to be extinguished by the darkness of their circumstances.

Maybe she wasn't just the girl from the skybox.

Despite his initial intentions, Bellamy found himself hesitating, his usual bravado faltering in the presence of Athena's unwavering determination.

He listened in stunned silence, his eyes wide with surprise and maybe a hint of shame. Despite his exterior, you could see a flicker of respect in his gaze.

As their confrontation drew to a close, Athena took a deep breath, her heart still pounding in her chest. But before she could say another word, Bellamy spoke up, his voice softer than before.

"I promise," he said, his tone sincere. "I won't hurt your family."

As the tension between them simmered, Bellamy's gaze lingered on Athena's pink hair. And in that moment, he made a silent promise to himself to never underestimate her again.

You could say a new understanding blossomed between them, a fragile truce forged in the heat of their confrontation.

As Wells approached her, Athena snapped out of her trance, her heart still pounding from the adrenaline rush of the confrontation with Bellamy. Shock flooded her senses as she realized what she had just done. She had yelled at someone—something she never did.

Her usual shyness and reluctance to speak up had given way. It was a side of her she didn't even know existed.

But even as she grappled with the aftermath of her outburst, a small part of her couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction.

As Wells reached her, concern etched on his face, Athena's shock began to give way to a wave of guilt. She had acted on impulse, driven by fear and anger.

And now I had to grapple with the consequences

"I-I'm sorry," she stammered, her voice trembling with uncertainty. "I don't know what came over me. I've never yelled like that before."

As Bellamy reached out to speak, Wells shot him a glare that could freeze fire. "Do not touch her, haven't you done enough?!"

Athena felt Wells' firm grip on her arm as he led her back to the dropship. "Come on, Athena," he said softly, his voice a mixture of concern and frustration.

Inside the dropship, Athena collapsed onto a makeshift seat, her mind still reeling from the intensity of the confrontation.

"What was that?" she murmured, more to herself than anyone else.

Wells crouched down beside her, his expression grave. "I don't know, but you were amazing," he said, his voice filled with pride.

Athena shook her head, still trying to process everything that had just happened. "I yelled at him," she said, disbelief coloring her tone. "I never do that."

Wells placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Sometimes, we have to stand up for ourselves, especially when it comes to protecting the ones we love.

And hey, you protected me, I thought I was the one supposed to be protecting my baby sister huh?"

Athena leaned into her brother's embrace, letting out a slight giggle, finding comfort in his words. "Thanks, Wells," she said, her voice wavering with emotion.

Wells squeezed her shoulder gently. "Anytime, sunshine."
