The first place Laurie runs to is the AV room. Unfortunately, he's not there, so she continues running around while the kids follow behind, calling out Will's name. She stops in her tracks when she sees him on the field, eyes closed and not moving. "Shit." She yells before running out the door, not knowing that Mike and Lucas are behind her.
"Will!" She screams while running to the boy. Grabbing his shoulders, she starts to shake him, "Will. Wake up. Come on, buddy. You can't do this to us. Will, please!" Mike starts to shake him and tries to get him to open his eyes. "Lucas, go grab the others. We're gonna need as much help as we can get." He nods and quickly runs off.
It seems only a second until Lucas returns with Joyce, Dustin, and Max. When they get close enough, they can see Laurie crying as she begs for Will to open his eyes or just move. "Please, please, please, Will. I know you can hear me! Open your eyes, do something!" She lets go of him when Joyce puts a reassuring hand on her shoulder.
Max, Dustin, and Lucas pull her into a group hug as they watch Mrs. Byers try to bring Will back. Everyone watches as time seems to slow down and waits with bated breath. They can't lose Will like this. He survived in the Upside Down for over a week and came out of it alive. He can survive this.
With a loud gasp, Will opens his eyes wide. "Oh my god," Laurie whispers as she wipes away some fallen tears. He's okay. Will Byers is okay for now.

Walking out of the school and watching Joyce take Will with her. The group watches silently until Max speaks up, "Okay, that freaked me totally out. Did that not freak you guys out?" No one answers her. How are they supposed to? She doesn't know anything, and they would like to keep it that way, the fewer people involved in whatever is going on in Hawkins, the better. Fewer chances of casualties if something goes wrong.
"Two episodes in two days," Lucas comments, but no one's eyes were leaving the retreating mother and son. "It's getting worse," Mike says while Dustin grips the hem of Laurie's sweater. "You think it's True Sight?" Laurie looks at Lucas, confused, True Sight?
What the hell kind of D&D shit are they talking about?
"What's True Sight?" Max asks before Laurie can. The boys seem to only stare at Lucas, and he brushes it off. Well, at least they also agree that, hopefully, very little information will keep Max from getting involved. She can't imagine the redhead going through the stuff they did last year. Someone, she's close to deserves to have a normal childhood.
The car drives off, and Laurie sighs, "Who's catching a ride?"

Max is the last person Laurie decides to drop off, mainly because she decided that she was finally ready to talk to Billy. Get things out in the open and hopefully continue a nice friendship. She would say maybe something more, but honestly, with how everything is going with Steve, she can't rule him out completely.
Max unlocks the front door to the medium-sized house. Laurie walks in behind her and closes it; the sound of loud music is a key giveaway that Billy is home. "Billy! You got a visitor!" Max calls out while walking over to the fridge. "Coke or water?" The redhead asks the girl fidgeting with her hands while waiting, "Uh, either is fine." Max nods and grabs two cokes. One for her and one for Laurie.
After Billy still hadn't come out of his room after a few minutes, Laurie decided to find him herself. Following the music, she finds an open door, where the music is loudest. She peeks in to see him lying on his bed with a porno mag. Why is she not surprised?
Knocking on the door, he groans but doesn't look up. "Max, I don't care. Go away."
"Luckily, I'm not Max." He jumps at Laurie's voice and quickly throws the magazine in his hand somewhere in his room. "What are you doing here?" She laughs at his shocked expression, "I wanted to talk to you. I was also dropping Max off from school." He quickly sits up as she walks into his room.
"Yeah, that sounds...okay." She gives him a kind smile before sitting on the bed. "I wanted to apologize for how...short, I was with you. This morning, I had a lot on my mind, and I was still processing last night." He stays quiet as she rambles. "I want to get to know you more because you seem like a great guy underneath all your...broody bad boy stuff. Not that I don't like it because I do, and you pull it off, but I jus-" Her words are cut off when he pulls her to his lips by the back of her head.
It's a quick kiss, nothing too passionate or crazy, just enough to make her feel warm inside. "You ramble a lot, darling." He smirks against her lips before kissing her again. This time, she wraps her arms around his neck to pull him closer while he slides his hands onto her hips. She pulls back before the kiss gets too heated, "I should really get going. I have a lot of homework to do." She explains before standing up.
Billy follows her to the front door, not noticing Max sitting on the couch. "I'll see you tomorrow then? Want me to pick you up?" He caresses her cheek, making sure to keep eye contact. "Yeah, I'll see you tomorrow, but Dustin has something after school, so I'm gonna drive again. Thanks, though." She gives him a quick peck before heading out the door.
Billy watches her walk away back in the house, then closes the door when she drives off. "You hurt her, and I'll find a way to kill you," Max says with a death stare before heading to her room.

The next morning, Laurie knocks on Dustin's door as he's feeding Dart. "TinTin, we gotta go. I don't want to be." She warns as she walks into his room. "I gotta go to school, but I'll be back soon. Sound good?" He asks his pet which makes a noise back. She thinks it means yes but has no idea. He covers the tank, and the two are off.
"I still can't shake the feeling that Dart is something more than you think. Not in a good way like he's a science miracle or something, but he's dangerous."
"Well, I haven't told you something," Dustin admits as he stops before they get to her car. "What's up?" He looks at her and feels terrible. His sister has only wanted to protect him, and now he has a potentially dangerous creature in their house. "Well, Will said that he coughed something up and that it could be Dart. The party thinks he might be something from the Upside Down."
She says nothing; she's too stunned to speak. How can he be this stupid? Things from the Upside Down kill people! "Dustin, you mean to tell me. That we have a potential interdimensional monster in our house?!" Her voice is firm as she bends down to his eye level. "You know you're my favorite person in the world, right?" He questions with a genuine smile.
She clenches her jaw before standing back up to her full height. "We don't have time for this. We will discuss this later today. You're gonna be the reason I have gray hair." He laughs at her before getting into the passenger side of the car.

Dropping Dustin off in front of the bike racks, they notice that none of The Party are there. She quickly pulls into a close parking spot and then gets out. Following her little brother, it doesn't take them long to find Mike and Max behind the school. Especially with Mike being as loud as ever, "Stop being a baby and do it already!" He yells at someone in the trash. "This is so disgusting. Is this necessary?" Max says as the siblings stand in front of them. "What the hell's going on?" Dustin asks, very confused. This is definitely not something either of them expected to see today.
"What do you think? We're looking for Dart." Mike explains as if it's the most obvious thing in the world. "Where's Lucas?" Laurie asks, then jumps when some bags fly out of the trash, then puts her hands on her hips when Lucas jumps out of the trash. "Really?" She questions, looking at Mike, who shrugs.
"Well, well, well. Look who finally decided to show up after I drew the short straw. Real convenient." The sarcasm is prominent in Lucas' words while giving Dustin a slight glare. "You stink," Max says while walking to Laurie and Dustin. "Hi, Max," Dustin says with a lovesick expression. "Hi," Max responds awkwardly before she moves to stand next to Laurie as the older girl just smiles at her brother.
"Where's Will?" Dustin asks, noticing the missing boy. "He'll be here," Mike answers a bit too quickly. "Are you just gonna stand there? Or are you gonna help?" Lucas asks, throwing a stick at Dustin.
"You guys have fun. I have important things to do. Good luck." She says to the group of small children before walking away and heading to her car. Those kids are going to kill her one day.

Walking into the gym for the second day in a row during her free period, Laurie finds a seat on the bleachers and gets comfortable as she pulls a ring pop out of her bag. Her usual candy stash she keeps for when Dustin needs something to pep him up or when she needs a pick me up.
Enjoying the artificial cherry flavor, she smiles as she watches the boys play basketball again. It makes sense as basketball season, and the coach continues to recruit people even during the season; he wants to be open to all options.
The whistle blows as a new play starts. Billy is guarding Steve as the coach yells, "Let it go. Pass it up now. Get open!" Billy runs away from Steve to get open and catches the ball as Steve tries to interfere. Billy laughs as he looks at Steve in front of him, "All right! All right, all right! King Steve. King Steve, everyone." He's cocky, more than usual. So it seems to her which is something that she didn't think could happen.
"I like it. Playing tough today."
"Jesus! Do you ever stop talking? Come on!" Steve says loudly, his voice annoyed, which is what Billy wants. "You know better than that, Stevie," Laurie whispers as she licks on the ring pop.
Billy laughs at him again as he dribbles the ball, keeping it at the perfect height to not slip away from him. "What? You afraid coach is gonna bench you now that I'm here? Huh?" He charges at Steve, which catches him by surprise, and knocks him down again like he did yesterday. He makes the basket perfectly as Laurie looks down at Steve in worry from the bleachers.
Billy high-fives Tommy before holding his hand out for Steve. She watches Steve take his hand, and the blonde whispers something in his ear before shoving him back down to the floor.
It doesn't take long for Billy to spot her sitting in the bleachers. She gives him a small wave as she sucks on the candy on her finger. He winks before turning back to get in game mode. Her eyes go over to Steve, who is slowly picking himself off the floor. They lock eyes, and she gives him a reassuring smile as the coach blows his whistle.
Billy and Steve continued to go at each other for the rest of class, so when the class headed to the showers. She started to put her backpack on. The first one out of the showers was Billy. "Hey darling, waiting for me?" He questions as he slides on his jean jacket over his white button-up. "I was just hanging out, had a free period and all." She explains as he leans over some of the bleacher seats.
"I think you just wanted to see me with my shirt off." He teases, making her laugh. Neither of them notices Steve walking out and watching them. "I mean, I'm sure it's not that hard to see you without it. You already have a good amount showing how much you've unbuttoned your shirt." She smirks up at him as he chuckles.
"You are something else, darling. You need a ride home?"
"No, I'm busy. Sisterly duties." She explains, then stands up. "Maybe tomorrow, though." She pinches his cheek and then walks down the bleachers to the floor. It doesn't take her a second to notice Steve staring at her. He walks off before she can say anything and her heart breaks as she walks toward the gym doors.

Dustin runs out of the car as Laurie pulls into the driveway. "Dustin! You know not to get out of the car until I stop!" She grips, but he ignores her as he runs into the house. Sighing, she grabs her stuff from the back and then locks the car. She walks into the house a moment after Dustin and hears him sliding his door closed, "Is your brother okay? He seems off." Claudia asks as her daughter comes into her view.
"Yeah, he's just been having some girl trouble. He's got a crush on this new girl at his middle school who goes to the Arcade a lot, so I'm trying to help him the best I can." Laurie's not lying; she knows that Dustin has a major crush on Max. It's obvious. She's just deciding not to tell her mother about the strange creature he has in his room, which his friends are looking for, because it's a possible interdimensional monster that could kill them all.
Just your average daughter hiding things from mom stuff.
"Oh, okay. Sweetheart, can you keep an eye out for Mews? She's not coming to eat."
"Yeah, mom. She's probably just in my room asleep." She hopes that's the case. She doesn't know what she would do if something happened to that sweet and fat orange cat. She heads upstairs to her room to settle in for the night and get her homework done so she can just relax and enjoy her night before work tomorrow.
