backstory
born and raised in australia meant that surfing was practically in mazie's blood. with her father being the one to introduce it to her since she was old enough to walk. her family was happy for a majority of her life, not living in the luxury that they have now, but still happy nonetheless. mazie's father was an amazing surfer, teaching her to become his prodigy in a sense.  for a while, mazie could remember the two fighting behind closed doors. words that she couldn't quite understand or grasp, she watched the downfall of her parents. the way her mother became less and less enthusiastic in surfing and pushed her to pursue in her ballet instead. then one day when she was twelve he had just left, no goodbye or warning. just a note of a pathetic apology, saying how he loved her but needed to follow his own dreams. in other words, he ran off to follow his dreams of surfing around the world. maybe even making it to the pros. after this incident her and her mother's relationship was strained, with her mother banning surfing and putting all her effort into her work. she became closed off, working herself up to higher promotions and becoming wealthy from all of the time and dedication to her job. she's barley home, hence how mazie can hide the fact that she still surfs, and when she is home the two just bicker relentlessly. her mom never accepting her out of fear she'll turn out like her father, and constantly pushing her to become perfect in ballet because it's something other than surfing. to become perfect in life, just to show to the world that they are better off without a husband or father.

when the girl first came to shorehaven, mazie had taken interest in her rebellion. not to mention that she also was a sucker for pretty new girls. summer was a breathe of fresh air and a new opportunity for a little bit of fun and trouble. two things mazie adored. although, her team hadn't liked summer that didn't stop mazie from shamelessly flirting the girl. even sharing a few kisses at parties, but both had agreed that what they were doing was purley out of fun. no feelings attached, which is why now the girls are just best friends.

mazie was apart of  the anchor cove team before ever joining the shorehaven team. being wealthy, popular and a bitch made her a perfect new addition to their cocky team. she was a selfish, spoiled snob in the shorehaven team's eyes, not that her attitude helped. thus, it only made sense for her and marlon to bump heads. their teams were big rivalries after all. being their teams most talkative and attention loving members, insults and snarky remarks were always thrown at each other.

after having a fallout with her team and joining the shorehaven team, things were rocky at first. mazie wasn't sure how to work with a team, always being one to look out for just herself. plus, it wasn't like everyone was all that thrilled to have her on their side. slowly, she got used to everyone even becoming close with most of her new team. especially marlon, the two bonding over many nights out searching for parties or entertainment. there was still that bickering, yet this time they did it for jokes and their own sort of affection.

the two had a small fight whenever marlon was revealed to have wanted to switch to her old team. the two exiling each other for a while. it was what had set back her realization of her feelings for him, causing her to push them down all over again. now, she won't admit that she likes him. opting to keep her reputation of someone who dosen't do relationships, all to cover up the fact that she's scared of him leaving her like her father did.
