∞༺♥༻✧"𝐆𝐄𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐅𝐔𝐂𝐊 𝐀𝐖𝐀𝐘 𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐌 𝐌𝐄!" the redheaded girl screamed as large pools of tears left her eyes, she had an armful of shoes at the ready to throw at the boy. hiccups began to leave her throat as her body rattled in fear.
never in her life did she think she'd end up in this situation. face to face with the ghost of her ex boyfriend. but then again she didn't think she'd ever have a dead boyfriend. or should she call him her ex-boyfriend? they hadn't broken up, no he died. so was that his breakup, him dying?
"davy, please listen!" the boy pleaded as he tried to make a move towards her, this only caused her to scream again. her voice was beginning to crack as her screams grew louder. she backed up into the wall as much as possible hoping someone would come and save her.
her dorm room was littered with shoes thrown everywhere, ripped and scrunched up balls of paper on the floor and the sink from the attached bathroom beginning to overfill the sink and drip onto the floor.
before she could let out another scream the bedroom door slammed open and in came running her little brothers, george, fred and ron all wanting to defend their sister with their wands at the ready.
"davina! what's wrong?" ron asked jumping over all the shoes and rushing up to the girl, she let out another strangled sob as she dropped all of her shoes and wrapped her arms around her brother who was the same height as her, despite being younger.
george and fred shared worried looks as they took in the state of their sister and noticed the mess the room was in. george rushed to turn the bathroom tap off well fred began to pick up the shoes and throw them into the corner of her room.
"he's there" she cried into rons shoulder, the tears not stopping no matter how hard she wanted them to. "make him go away!" she said louder now as she quickly picked up a balled up piece of paper and threw it where she could see cedric.
"vina! vina!" ron called as he grabbed her wrists stopping the girls motions, "there's no one there" he said as he gave her a sympathetic but concerned look. mum would so be hearing about this in the next hour or so.
"he's right there!" she yelled as her eyes kept watering, she pointed to where cedric stood with a frown littered across his pretty face. his pretty face, the way it had been before he went into that maze. no scars or bruises or scratches. just cedric's pretty face.
"there's no one there, v" george and fred said at the same time as george made a move next to his sister to try and wrap an arm around her, fred going to pick up one of the papers on the floor.
instead of letting george wrap an arm around her she screamed and pushed him away, she was growing hysterical the boys thought. some other gryffindors had crowded outside of her room to see what was going on. all of them feelings large amounts of pity for the girl.
"v, please" george pleaded as she began to push ron and george out of the room to her best efforts, the boys tumbling over paper and their own feet. george tripping over a medium sized bunny teddy before davina quickly rushed to pick it up before giving her two brothers one final push and turning to fred.
"i'll go!" he said defensively as she began trying to drag him out. she ignored all of the eyes watching her as she slammed her bedroom door shut. she let herself slide down into a ball against the door as she clutched the toy tightly to her chest and sobbed into its fluff.
cedric only stared with sad eyes and an aching heart. he had done this to her without even meaning to and he felt an immense sense of guilt. could dead people even feel guilt? he asked himself before shaking the question away.
" 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐝?" george asked as the three boys began making their way down to the owlery to write their mum a letter updating her on how davina was doing.
fred quickly unscrambled the note before trying to make out the smudged ink that was due to tear stains. he could see it was addressed to cedric and was from davina. the boy frowned before handing it over to his brothers to see.
"do we get ginny?" ron asked not knowing what to do. he was really worried for his sister, she was the closest sibling he had and he hated seeing her go through this. but still he had no clue how to help her.
fred and george shook their heads "already tried" they kept trying to think. they would usually go and get hayley and emori but both girls were also grieving in their own way. hayley in a bottle of fire whiskey and emori in the corner of the library.
"𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐠𝐨 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲" she tried once more, her body now leaning against the door but her voice was still strained. it kept cracking throughout her sentences and she was sure to wake up with no voice tomorrow from all the screaming she'd done.
"i can't do that, love" he whispered as he slowly began to take steps towards the girl, her pushing her body closer to the door to try and make distance between them.
before she wouldn't even think away moving away from him, she'd usually be clinging to his side or be in his lap. but now the thought of being near him revolted her. it brought vile up her throat which she was forced to swallow. the acidy liquid making her feel uncomfortable for the rest of the day.
why? he thought. because he was dead he reminded himself. "i need you to listen to me right now. i am here and only you can see me. you're not going insane, you're not imaging me because you miss me. you can see me. alright?" he tried as he knelt down in front of her a few feet away.
she shook her head in denial, squeezing her eyes shut so she wouldn't have to see the boy. he was still wearing his hufflepuff top that he had on before he went in. only it was cleaner this time. that's how she knew he wasn't really there, because she had the top tucked away in her trunk. it was still covered in dirt and his blood though. she couldn't bring herself to look at it.
"you're dead. cedrics dead" she whispered over and over to herself as she tried convincing herself that the boy was gone and that she was going crazy. maybe now was a good time to call up st. mungos.
cedric only sighed out loudly in defeat before collapsing to the floor, his back hitting the wood as he stared up at the dorm room ceiling. how he would get this through her head, he didn't know. all he knew was that at least she could see him right now. and that in some sick and twisted way, brought him some comfort.
she felt her body carefully fall to its side, her head touching the hard wooden floor as her grip on her bunny tightened. cedric smiled at this not meeting her eyes thinking it'd just bring her to tears again. heavy, heavy tears.
"you kept hoppers?" he chuckled to himself not thinking she heard him, the girl looked down at the toy that she'd stolen from his bedroom when she visited him after the quidditch world cup. the grey bunny had been perched atop cedrics hufflepuff bedsheets and looked like it'd been around for years. 17 long years to be exact.
she didn't reply as she stared at the side of his body, unbruised, a slight pink scare on his hand from the dragon challenge, messy brown hair and his pretty face. cedrics pretty unbruised face.
"i've missed you" the boy whispered into the silence of the room, her soft whimpers had stopped as well as her tears hitting the floor. he didn't except a reply for a long time. he didn't except her to even look at him.
but it was alright. because as long as he knew he was there, he knew she'd be somewhat alright.
