A SINGLE TEAR ROLLED DOWN ROSALIE'S FACE. Diana stayed quiet as the pinned back the white dress that hugged Rosalie's body. "Why does it have to be so tight?" she complained.

"If people find out you are to have a child, then it will cause issues. The tighter the dress is, the less noticeable your pregnancy is." James said, standing with his arms crossed.

Rosalie ignored him, staring at her stomach through the mirror.

"This dress will be ready by Sunday, yes?" James asked Diana. "I've spoke to the dress maker and she'll have it done by Friday," she said bluntly, giving Rosalie a reassuring glance.

"Very well," James hummed, leaving the room.

"Diana what do i do. I'm to be married by the end of this week." Rosalie sucked in her bottom lip, falling onto her bed. "Whilst Micheal is waiting to die in that fucking jail. Every day, his child grows inside me. He won't even get to meet his kid."

"My lady, i'm so very sorry." Diana clasped her hands together.

"Leave me be, Diana. Please"

Diana nodded, leaving Rosalie alone with her thoughts.

James handed one of his men a letter. "You make sure that Micheal Gray receives this. And make sure it is before Sunday,"

-

Micheal stared down at the piece of paper with sad eyes.

Dear Mr Gray,
You are probably aware that Rosalie is to marry Luca Changretta. It shall happen on Sunday. He will raise your child and that child will never know their real father. Rosalie is to move on and learn to forget you. You have done this to yourself, Micheal. You have taken the innocence of a lady, you have attempted to ruin her life but miserably failed.

It was not signed but he knew exactly who it was off. James Williams. The letter was made to hurt Micheal, to rub it in his face that his life was being destroyed, that Rosalie's life was being destroyed. It killed Micheal that she had to raise that child alone, without him there to help her.

It killed him that she'd have to marry a man she disliked and hardly knew.

He felt as though he had failed.

-

Rosalie stared out the window as multiple maids got her ready. "Are you ready, my lady?" Diana asked, pinning the last piece of her hair back. She took a shaky breath. "That's a stupid question, Diana," she insulted.

Diana bowed her head, embarrassed.

"Let's get it over with."

All of the maids followed behind her, holding the end of her dress as she walked to the car. The man held the door open and she climbed inside, staring at her hands as he started driving off to the church.

She felt guilty. Although there was nothing her or Micheal could do, she felt as if she was betraying him. He promised her they could raise their child and have a happy life. But now neither of them would have that.

Time moved terribly slow on the drive down to the church but eventually the car stopped and her mother waited outside.

"My daughter," Anna whispered, holding her shoulders. "The best thing for you to do in this moment is smile." she whispered.

"I asked for your help, mother. And you didn't help me, did you?"

Anna closed her mouth, pursing her lips into a line.

Rosalie's heart pounded and she felt as if she could hear it in her ears. Anna took Rosalie's arm and began walking down the red carpet. Her eyes grew watery and she bit her lip that began trembling.

Luca turned, his hands clasped in front of him. He smiled at her and her jaw tightened.

Anna departed from her and everyone sat.

"Dearly beloved," the priest began, "we are gathered here today to join together in holy matrimony, Lady Rosalie Williams and Luca Changretta,"

"Do you, Luca Changretta take Lady Rosalie Williams to be your lawful wedded wife?" he asked. "I do" Luca said, his accent thick.

"Do you, Lady Rosalie Williams, solemnly swear to love, honour and obey till death do you apart" he turned to her.

Silence.

All eyes were on her.

Her heart pounded.

Luca frowned, waiting for him to talk.

She shook her head slowly. "I'm sorry," she croaked, dropping Luca's hands and practically running back throughout the church.

"Rosalie," James shouted. "Rosalie you get back here,"

Murmurs came from the people in the crowd.

"Take me to London." She said the the driver. He stared at her blankly. She quickly glanced over her shoulder. "I demand you take me to London." she shouted.

The man nodded and opened the door for her.

She watched as her father ran outside the church, shouting as the car drove away. Rosalie tugged at the veil in her hair, pulling it out. Tears streamed down her face although relief had filled her.

-

"Rosalie?" Ada Thorne asked, opening the door to her house. "I'm sorry, i understand this is a inconvenience-"

"No, not at all, come in," Ada stepped aside, opening the door more. "Thank you.." she whispered. "Why on earth are you wearing a wedding dress?"

"I was to marry Luca Changretta, but Ada i ran. I've left. I'm not marrying that man."

"Oh come here," the slightly older woman sighed, pulling her in and rubbing her back. "Everything will be okay," Ada assured her. "How's the baby?" she changed the topic.

"Good, strong heartbeat." Rosa sniffed.

"That's amazing, come sit and i'll get you some tea,"

That night, Ada borrowed Rosalie clothes and allowed her to stay the night. They spoke about Micheal and his cousins. Ada told her how her own husband had died, Freddie, she told her how she dealt with it.
