Aera's eyes lingered near her eldest brother, watching how his head was frequently dropping while he forced himself to stay awake for a few more minutes and continue working without a hindrance. The girl sighed, shaking her head and pushed his laptop away, gently tapping his cheek.
Jimin blinked a few times, letting out a tired yawn and nodded before cracking his neck and glanced at her, "You can go, I'll come in ten minutes."
The sister shook her head, pouting at him and pulled his hand, "Let's go oppa, you can do it tomorrow."
"Please princess, jus-"
"Nooo!" She whined, stomping her foot on the floor, earning a sigh from the brother. He nodded and stood up, not wanting to argue with a cranky pre-teen almost at mid night when he was, himself, sleepy.
Aera smiled at him, quickly kissing his hand the way he did to her, making him chuckle lightly and scooped her up in his arms. She giggled and kissed his cheek again, then turned her head showing her cheek to him. Jimin smiled and leaned down, kissing her cheek as well and nuzzling her face against her jaw, earning joyous laughs and giggles from her mouth.
Her eyes wandered towards the theatre room, seeing Jungkook giving a thumbs up and she smiled in response, before focusing back on Jimin. "Oppa?"
"Hmm?"
"I don't feel like going to school tomorrow."
"When do you ever feel like going to school?" He laughed silently.
"But you still force me to go there..."
"Because everybody has to go to school. Now get changed, take a shower if you want and sleep. You've been up for too late."
"Okay," She nodded, "but only if you give me my clothes."
"Why're you acting like this today?" Jimin said, frowning at her clingy self and overflowing affection as she kept hugging him.
"...I love you?" Aera said, tilting her head at an angel, having her Jungkook-like doe eyes staring at him.
"I wonder what it'll be like when you grow up." He chuckled, bumping his forehead gently against Aera's.
"I'll be like this." She shrugged, jumping down from the bed and pulled him to the closet, not giving much thought about his brother's statement while he stared at her with fond eyes, wanting to preserve all these precious moments with his sister by the time she's still just a kid.
"That one." Aera pointed at a unicorn onesie, earning a laugh from her brother.
"Are you sure? Wouldn't it be too warm?"
"I like warm." The sister said and Jimin brought it down for her.
"I'll take a shower, you can get changed."
Aera gave a thumbs up, starting to pull her sweater up as Jimin grabbed his towel and headed to the bathroom, leaving his sister in the room as he knew she wasn't very fond of showering.
The girl giggled, instantly jumping out of her clothes and wore the onesie, struggling with the zipper for a while but eventually found a solution, remembering how Jungkook and Taehyung once dressed like that a few years back. Finally zipping the costume up, she snuggled herself under the covers and closed her eyes, pretending to fall asleep.
Meanwhile Jimin dried himself, thinking about the meeting he has with their new client tomorrow. The company had been waiting for days for this, and there's absolutely no way he would let this deal slip out his hands, especially when he's aware of the hard work his employees and board members were putting in, and even himself. Forgetting about every other thing, he had concentrated into this deal, giving up his sleeps and even appetite at times.
He sighed deeply, glancing at the mirror, noticing the faint dark circles he had gifted himself. The towel wrapped around his torso, while his hand ruffled the excess water from his hair. He came out, finding Aera already sleeping in the bed and went in his closet, quietly, not wanting to wake his princess up. Because if she's up, she won't sleep easily.
His eyes fell on the calender, finding the date extremely interesting, for it was at this moment it dawned upon him that today, counting the midnight terms, is his birthday. October 13. The day he came into this world. He stared at the calender for a second, focusing on the fact that he actually forgot his own birthday between all the work and stuff.
After putting on a pair of black pants and drying his hair, he headed to bed, shifting Aera's sleeping figure a little to the side to make space for himself. However the moment he laid down, the girl had turned over again, placing her right arm and leg on him, snuggling against his big body.
Jimin smiled a little and kissed her forehead, "Good night my princess." His voice came out softly, before closing his eyes too.
A Few Minutes Later -
Aera's eyes fluttered open, staring at the brother to make sure he was sound asleep. She lifted her hand slowly, shaking him once... twice... thrice. He's sleeping. She smiled to herself and removed his hand carefully, freeing herself from his hug and slipped out of the bed, not making any noise that would wake Jimin up.
The girl heaved out a sigh in relief after successfully sneaking out of the room. Her feet jogged down the stairs with a toothy smile playing on her lips out of excitement. The rest of the boys were already there, and glanced at her as she entered the room.
"Aw Riri, what're you wearing baby?" Jin cooed, pinching her cheek, earning a giggle from her.
"I'm a unicorn." She said, turning around and posed for the boys to see her outfit. They chuckled at her, cooing at the overflowing cuteness from the twelve-year-old.
"Jungkook-ah" Taehyung nudged the younger male, gesturing towards the girl, "Why is she wearing it like that?"
Jungkook squinted his eyes, nodding at Taehyung's remark and couldn't help but snicker silently covering their mouths. The brother cleared his throat and sat on the couch, motioning his hand for Aera to come near him.
"Yes?" Aera chirped, "You should wear your onesie too oppa, then we can match."
"Yeah, but tell me one thing, why are you wearing it like this? The zipper and the tail should be at the back." He said, almost laughing at the little mistake.
"I know, but I couldn't reach the zipper like that. So I turned it around. It's easier this way." Aera shrugged, "And you wore it like this too, tail looks better in the front."
The boys choked at that, Jungkook lowered his head covering his mouth with his hand while he laughed silently, remembering the last time when he had jokingly told her to wear it backside-front as him and Tae were doing the same, and then laughed about it because she actually liked the idea.
"You're pathetic." Yoongi muttered, glaring the youngest males before turning to the kid, "Aera come here, we don't wear it like that."
"Why not? It's easy like this. Otherwise I have to go to oppa again and again if I have to use the toilet."
"It's okay, we can help you with that." Jin said, while Yoongi made her wear it properly and sighed in relief.
"Koo likes it like this..."
"Your brother's weird, so he likes weird things. Don't pay attention to him." Yoongi said, making Aera laugh while Jungkook and Taehyung just shrugged their shoulders, not giving much thought about it.
"But Riri wanted a tail in the front right?" Jungkook asked, laughing when the girl nodded.
"God! Jeon Jungkook if you don't shut up, I swear I'm gonna whoop your ass right now!" Jin scolded, covering Aera's ears.
"Stop talking nonsense in front of a kid who's also your sister." Yoongi said.
"Okay Okay! sorry." Jungkook grinned.
"Anyway, let's focus on Jimin's birthday for now." Hoseok said. Jin released Aera's ears and patted her head, smiling at her as if nothing ever happened. So she smiled back.
"I don't have a gift for oppa." She said, turning to Jungkook who nodded and sat her on his lap, "What are you giving him?"
"It's not ready yet, I'll have to look into everything properly." Jungkook said dismissively.
"Okay... tell me something that I can give oppa."
"Mm how about a kiss? Or card?"
"No, that's so simple. I wanna give hima big gift."
"Big gift... are you saying you wanna buy him something?"
Aera nodded excitedly while Jungkook chuckled, "That'd be great, but do you know if he wants something?"
"...no, but you can tell me what big people like."
"Honestly, he'd like anything you give him Riri. Even if you don't have a gift and just wish him without anything, he'd still like it."
"No I want to give something."
"Make a card then, he'll love it."
"You sure?"
"One hundred percent sure." Jungkook smiled and kissed the tip of her nose, making her smile too. The girl nodded and stood up, determined to make the best birthday card for her brother.
Meanwhile the boys were busy discussing about the planning for the day. From how to keep Jimin busy to how to prepare for everything and what the rest of them would be doing. Everything was settled. Jungkook sighed in satisfaction, happy with the birthday surprise for his brother, now he just hoped for Jimin to like it.
"Aera," He called softly, shaking the girl who had fallen asleep halfway through her birthday card preparation. "Get up, let's sleep in your room, not here."
"Mm" Aera shook her head subtly in sleep. The pencil color was still in her hand and her head resting on the paper. Jungkook shook his head and carried her in his arms, glancing at the boys who were also leaving for their respective rooms.
"Good night everyone, please don't be late in the morning." Namjoon said, earning several nods from the boys.
Next Morning -
"Jungkook it's 7:15 already!"
"Yes hyung!"
"Get her ready, I'm leaving!"
"Okayy!"
"Jin hyung, where are you? We're running late!"
"Relax Jimin, we're on time."
"Five minutes more and you'll be late."
"Where're the others?"
"Waiting outside, Tae said he has some work and Hobi is going with him. So it's me, you, Joon and Yoongi."
"Okay- Oh and Jungkook, make sure she eats something before going!"
"I know, now go. You'll be late." Jungkook said, "You said there's an important meeting today, good luck with that."
"Yeah, thanks. Bye."
Jimin left with Jin, leaving Jungkook alone in the living room. The boy sighed, shaking his head at the elder brother stressing so much early in the morning. But before his mind wandered to another thing, he was up on his feet, realising it was time for Aera to get ready for school.
"Shit!" He cursed, running upstairs and opened the door to his sister's room, "Aera get up, you're half an hour late!"
Aera didn't budge though. He sighed and pulled her blanket away, earning a disheartened whine from the girl as she kicked her legs in the air, squirming in the bed. Jungkook held her feet pulling her to the edge of the bed and made her sit up, ignoring all the cries and pleadings to let her sleep.
"C'mon baby, you don't wanna get late for school, do you?" He said, patting her back encouraging her to get up and head straight to the bathroom.
"I don't wanna go to school..." She mumbled, hugging his waist tightly as she shook her head.
"Yes you do. Now be a good girl and get ready."
Aera looked up at him, eyes brimming with warm tears and lips puckering out in a pout as she mumbled, "Just one day?"
Jungkook sighed and sat on the bed, bringing her in his lap and hugged her loosely, "It's just today that you have to go to school. Tomorrow's Saturday and then there's Sunday, you'll be having two days off. So you should go today right?"
Aera stared at him, probably forcing her brain to come up with something else. She rubbed her eyes to get rid of the tears and looked at Jungkook again, "...but today's oppa's birthday, we have to prepare for the party."
"You don't have to do anything in that. I'm getting everything arranged." Jungkook said, "You can go to school."
The girl stared at him with an upset look, which made Jungkook to avert his eyes for he knew he wouldn't be able to resist if she continues doing that. "...I have to make a card too." She said hopefully.
"So you really don't wanna go?" The brother asked, earning a nod from the girl. "Okay fine, but you'll listen to me and be a good girl, yeah?"
"Thank you!" Aera chirped, hugging him tightly, all the sadness vanishing away in a second.
Jungkook smiled and ruffled her hair and said, "You can go back to sleep if you want, or get ready, me and Tae hyung are going out to get some stuff."
"I'll go with you." She said, standing up quickly and rushed to the bathroom. Jungkook sighed, wondering if his sister will ever have the same energy in the name of school.
________
"Are you done Riri?"
"Yes oppa, look." Aera grinned, showing Taehyung the card she made for Jimin. Taehyung smiled, patting her head in appreciation for the hard work she's been doing since morning and helping the boys around for Jimin's birthday party.
"Aera?" They heard Jungkook's voice as he walked down the stairs, wearing black slacks and a blue, soft-looking shirt. He shook his head once, adjusting the bangs in the natural way he liked and focused on the girl, realizing she wasn't dressed yet.
"Is your card ready?" He asked.
"Yeah, look." Aera stood up, handing it to him and waited for a response with a hopeful look towards him.
"Aw it's beautiful." Jungkook smiled, "Now go and get dressed, we'll be leaving in a while."
"Okayyy" She sign-songed, running upstairs to her room.
Taehyung called one the hyungs, making sure they were doing their job of keeping Jimin busy properly. Meanwhile Jungkook called the manager, wanting to know if everything was ready just as he had asked. A smile played on his lips, sighing in relief on hearing a positive word.
Aera's footsteps echoed in a while, stealing attention from the boys as they turned around to see if she was ready. The girl had the pastel pink dress on with white sandals, a hair brush and a hair pin in her hands. She stopped in front of Jungkook, handing the things to her brother and pointed at her head.
Taehyung chuckled, watching how Jungkook instantly came up with a hairstyle that went well with Aera's overall look. Securing her hair with the pin, Jungkook smiled satisfactorily and took a proper look, nodding to himself.
"It's good, you're ready." He said.
"You look adorable." Taehyung pinched her cheek, "Seriously, beauty runs in the family."
Jungkook laughed at the elder's comment,l and held his sister's hand as they headed outside. Aera sat in the back, while Taehyung on the passenger seat and Jungkook took the driver's, speeding away from the house.
In merely fifteen minutes, they had reached a big building, shining with lights in the late evening. Aera recognised this as their company, Jeon Corporation. She held on to the nearest person's hand, not minding who and headed inside, smiling at the familiar people who bowed to her oppas and smiled at her.
"Where's Jimin hyung?" Jungkook asked the manager who followed behind them.
"He's in his office."
"Alright, we'll be heading to main conference hall. Please go according to the plan."
"Don't worry, sir. Mr Jeon won't know a thing."
________
"Alright, I guess that's enough for today." Jimin sighed, keeping the file down and motioned his hand for the assistant to leave him alone for a while.
A sigh worked out of his mouth, mixed thoughts running in his mind. Some making him a bit upset as nobody remembered his birthday, and the rest trying to explain that there are many other things in people's lives than to memorize others' birthdays. And that's okay. So what if he remembers every special day of siblings and the boys? Maybe they all are too busy this year and his birthday probably got lost between the rest of the schedule. It's okay.
He heard a knock on the door and looked up, groaning faintly in annoyance, however pulled up his posture again, sitting straight.
"Come in." He said and saw his manager opening the door. The man bowed to Jimin, earning a subtle nod of acknowledgement and a gesture to say whatever he came here for.
"Sir, there's an urgent meeting with you in main conference hall. Mr Min and everyone else from the board is already there."
Jimin frowned, recalling if he had any meeting lined up at this hour, "What for?"
"The profit stats. sir."
Having no other work in the moment, Jimin nodded and stood up, adjusting his neck tie as he walked out of the office, followed by the manager and his secretary.
"Call Director Park and tell him we'd like post-pone the seminar to next week. I'm not available tomorrow."
"But sir, it's-"
"Any problem Secretary Lee?"
"No sir."
The man opened the door to a dark conference hall which made Jimin's brows to scrunch in confusion. His eyes wandered towards his manager who smiled nervously, gesturing his hand for the CEO to go ahead first.
"What kund of joke is this?" Jimin hissed, "Do y'all wish to get fired or somethi-"
He felt silent as the lights suddenly glowed up, filling the hall with brightness. The usual huge conference table wasn't there, instead the whole area was cleared and decorated with balloons and ribbons, while confetti sprinkled from above on Jimin.
"Happy birthday!" Jungkook and the rest of the boys came forward with wide smiles, watching Jimin's reaction that was a mixture of confusion and happiness.
"Oppa!" Aera chirped, running towards him and hugged his waist, giggling up at him, "Happy birthday!"
He smiled, they remember, feeling his eyes moistening with happiness as he stared at his sister and then at the boys, "Thank you... this is really beautiful..."
"I know right?" Jungkook joked.
"You did all this?" Jimin asked, looking around the beautiful and elegant hall.
"We all did." The younger shrugged, smiling at his hyung.
"Guys, you didn't have to." Jimin sighed.
"Of course we had to Jimin, what are you saying? It's your birthday brother!" Taehyung said, earning a cheer from the boys and the employees who were there.
Jimin smiled and looked down at Aera and patted her head, "You helped them too?"
"Yes," She nodded, "I have a gift too that I ma-"
"Not yet Riri." Jungkook hushed her.
"What?" Jimin looked at the two.
"Nothing!" The girl shook her head, "Let's go, cut the cake oppa. "
"Okay?" Jimin chuckled, following the excited twelve-year-old to the table draped with white cloth and balloons stuck to the sides while a cake was placed in the middle.
Aera stared at the cake in anticipation, wanting Jimin to cut it quickly and give her to eat, which the brother noticed and brought her forward, "Let's cut the cake hmm?" He smiled.
"No, you cut the cake. It's your birthday, not mine." Aera said and went to stand near Jungkook who handed Jimin the knife, while the others started singing him happy birthday.
A roar of cheers echoed in the hall, mixing with a loud applaud. Aera took a piece of cake, feeding it to Jimin who just took a small bite and fed the rest to her. While the boys dragged him to one side, shoving the cake in his mouth and laughing as it, now, completed their birthday wishing procedure.
"Aish!" Jimin shook his head, grabbing a tissue and wiped his face.
"He's gonna fire all of you." Taehyung laughed.
"He wouldn't dare." Yoongi joked, earning a chuckle from Jimin.
"I wish I could." Jimin played along.
"Are gonna fire me too?" Aera said, looking a bit hurt for she probably didn't understand the elders' harmless teasings. "I didn't put the cake on you, oppa. Don't fire me."
Jungkook laughed and patted his sister's head, "He cannot fire the people who are not working for him."
"So I'm safe?"
"Yeah probably." He chuckled, "But he can fire you if he wants, it's oppa's birthday."
Aera pouted, glancing at Jimin, shaking her head as a gesture for the brother not to fire her, "I'll go to school, I promise, don't fire me."
"You didn't go to school today?" Jimin frowned and glanced at Jungkook for some explanation, earning a nervous laugh from the boy.
"I mean yeah, something like that. But nevermind let's focus here." Jungkook said hastily, and raised his glass of wine, "Everyone, are y'all enjoying?"
"Yes!" The people cheered along with a joyful hooting as it was the first time Jimin was letting himself and his employees to loosen a little. And of course everyone wanted to enjoy this rare occasion.
"Oppa" Aera said, tugging on Jimin's sleeve, making him lean down to hear what she had to say. "I made this for you." She smiled, handing him the sky blue colored, handmade card.
Jimin smiled keeping his glass away for a moment as he focused on his sister's gift for him. He sat on one of the chairs, bringing Aera in his lap and opened the card, chuckling softly as a smiling heart popped up. There was a caricature of him with the similar platinum blonde hair, wearing a suit. The drawing-Jimin was holding a little girl's hand, who was definitely Aera, for the girl was smiling, wearing a pink colored dress. Happyyy Birthdayyyyy oppa was written on the top, and you're the bestest brother in the world inside a globe.
He glanced at Aera, feeling her intense gaze on him, hopefully staring at him for a reaction, "Thank you so much," Jimin said, kissing her cheek, "this is beautiful."
"Really? You like it?" Aera smiled widely.
"Of course, baby. This is the most beautiful birthday card I've seen."
Aera giggled and kissed his cheek, "I wanted to get something big for you, but I didn't have that much money. So Koo said I can make a card for you, and you'll like it."
"Yeah, in fact I love it." Jimin said, "You don't need to buy anything for oppa, kiddo."
"No, I'll get you a big gift when I grow up and start earning."
"Really? What will you get for me?" He chuckled.
"Car" Aera said nonchalantly.
"I already have a lot of cars, honey."
"I'll give you one more." Aera giggled, "A pink car."
Jimin laughed, shaking his head as Aera smiled as well, happy that they're having fun and also the cake was delicious. Their attention diverted towards the stage where Jungkook was standing, holding a mic as he spoke to gain people's attention.
"As we know, this... all of this is for Jimin hyung since he's a year older now. If it was for my birthday, he would've said how I was in diapers a few years back and stuff, but unfortunately I never saw him in diapers, so I can't use that." Jungkook said, earning chuckles from the people and knowing smiles from his hyungs.
"The good thing is-" He stopped, hearing an excited squeal from one corner of the hall where a group of female employees stood. Jungkook chuckled and nodded, "Yes, he's twenty-five, calm down ladies."
The girls looked shy, meanwhile the rest of the people laughed amusedly. Jungkook smiled and continued, "It's been almost six years, since Jimin hyung is handling everything. Whether it was my high school, or Aera's school, this company, home, just everything in short."
"I can't even imagine what would've happened if you weren't with us. Maybe I wouldn't be here, standing like this, maybe y'all'd be working somewhere else. But fortunately, Jimin hyung is here, so everything is good." Jungkook smiled on seeing Jimin smiling softly at him.
"So today, hyung I wanna thank you on behalf of me and Aera. Even though it's still not enough after what all you've always done for us, but anyways I hope you'll like it." Jungkook said, stepping aside and gestured his hand towards the glowing screen behind him, which was now displaying a statistical page of something that made Jimin gasp.
"Seriously?"
"What is that?" Aera asked, tugging on Taehyung's sleeve. "Looks like a lot of math."
"It's not math, Aera," Jungkook chuckled in his mic, gaining Aera's attention, "It took a bit of time and studying, but look I made it and it's for you hyung." He grinned at Jimin.
Jimin glanced at Yoongi and then at Namjoon, before looking back on the screen, reading the page again that showed the deals closed and the profits rising in the company under Jimin's control.
"He worked hard for your present, Jimin." Jin said, patting Jimin's back.
"Yeah, all that is worth a 160 thousand dollars." Yoongi said, smiling.
"You didn't have to say that." Jungkook mumbled, "Anyways, hyung, did you like it? I wasn't sure at first, but after discussing everything with Yoongi hyung, Namjoon hyung, Jin hyung and our Manager, I felt it was worth risking. So I invested in your Tokyo deal, then in Bangkok, and it's all going good now."
"Jungkook..." Jimin sighed deeply, "160 thousand dollars is not nothing. Why would you do that when we already have enough investors?"
"I wanted to surprise you with some profit." Jungkook shrugged.
"Business is a two way thing Jungkook, you could've had a huge loss." Jimin said.
"We were with him through everything Jimin." Namjoon smiled, "The boy worked a lot for you, don't discourage him like that."
"I'm not discouraging him. It's just... Aish! Jeon Jungkook, come here." Jimin sighed. Jungkook smiled widely, getting down the stage and hugged his hyung. "Where did you get th-"
"Money? I work too remember?" Jungkook joked, "I have my own studio where I make music, produce, direct, sing and even gaming. I've been earing for a good amount of time now."
Jimin chuckled and patted his head, "You didn't have to do this."
"But I wanted to," The younger smiled, "This is nothing, hyung, really. It's all good if you like it."
"I feel proud." Jimin said, knowing that Jungkook was never into business. The boy always had a separate interest and approach for life. But the fact that he did all this for Jimin, warmed the elder's heart.
"That's great!" Jungkook cheered, followed by a loud cheer and clapping from the rest of the people.
Jimin smiled at him and glanced at Aera who was happy too, not about the business math, but about the fact that everyone is happy and cheering, so why not her?
"You both are the best thing ever happened to me." Jimin smiled to himself, watching Aera and Jungkook doing a mini cheers with their glasses filled with orange juice.
