The way Jamie had yelled immediately prompted Cass and Tessa out of their seats to join the others on the balcony. His eyes hard darkened with rage but only momentarily soon they were filled with ache.

Layton was startled by the way Jamie had raised his voice and was standing behind Rick

"What's all the noise about" Cass cuts through the tension in the air

"I'll tell you what, I just caught these two sucking face" Jamie voice cracks as he tries to be abrasive

"Alright everybody let's go inside and talk about this, we are all adults here" Tessa tries to aid the situation.

Everybody agreed and made their way back into the apartment, once inside Jamie was like a savage ready to attack once more

"How could you Rick? You knew how I felt about her and yet you still choose to stab me in the back."

"And what about you Layton, he's my best friend. Did your'll not consider anybody else before fooling around?"

In the background Tessa whispers to Cass about leaving the three of them to handle their business and they slip out without anybody noticing.

"We weren't fooling around okay, it just happened. I thought she looked beautiful under the starlight and we were having a moment, maybe the universe brought us to exactly where we were supposed to be." Rick looks at Layton and smiles

"Oh spare me the charm" Jamie muffs and rolls his eyes

"Jamie we didn't mean for things to be blown out of proportion like this, it was one kiss, it's not like we slept together." Layton finally finds her voice

"Who knows, maybe if I hadn't interrupted you two would be banging on the balcony right about now."

"Come on man, you know I have too much respect for the both of you to even contemplate something like that." Rick argues

"You know what Rick, No, I don't know that because your actions say otherwise." Jamie lets out a faint laugh and strokes his chin.

"You know come to think of it I should have seen this coming. That evening I called you in panic when I nearly kissed Layton you said you would gladly throw your hat in the race for her heart. I didn't think anything of it then but that and how fast you two became close with your'lls road trips and visits to the farm it all adds up."

"Jamie" Layton reaches out to his shoulder but he pulls it away

"I swear I was just been a good friend to her that's all" Rick pleads with him

"I had to learn how to live with been in love with my best friend and not been able to do shit about it. Now you just prance in and what start playing happy families with her?"

"If you wanted her so bad maybe you should have fought for her then, done something about it instead of pushing her away like you did. Don't blame me for the fact that you didn't try and be the right man for her."

Anger and rage were oozing of both men at this point. One more wrong word spoken would definitely lead to a physical brawl and Layton wanted none of that.

"Enough" Layton yells "Look I get it we didn't mean to hurt you but we did. Our friendship is far too valuable to throw away over a kiss. Jamie I lost you once please don't let it happen again" She begins to tear and Rick goes over and hugs her much to Jamie's disapproval.

"Oh I see what's going on here" Jamie menacingly laughs "Is this your idea of payback?" he directs the question at Rick.

"It's really not Jamie drop it" he commands

"But I think it is see you never got over the fact that Amelia cheated on you with me"

"Wait, Amelia as in your first love Amelia" Layton eyes widen in shock. Rick looks away in shame

"Why yes dear Layton, see Amelia and I hooked up at one of those Cop Career Days at school. Rick boy found out and yet somehow the two of us ended up forming this friendship but I see now he's still a bit sour about the whole thing. That's why he's trying to get with the girl I love." Jamie asserts

"Oh my god, Jamie I remember you telling me you lost your virginity to an older women and Rick you said Amelia cheated on you with someone from the academy." Layton tries to piece everything together

"Well I was embarrassed okay, she cheated on me with someone 3 years my junior, it doesn't exactly do much for my ego and Jamie we became friends because we both realized what a slut she really was. I helped you get into the academy, with your training and tests, don't you see our friendship meant something to me, I wouldn't just throw it over nothing."

"I think I'm going to leave now, we all, I need some time" and with that Jamie grabbed his coat and walked out the door.

"I'm going to take off too, emotions are running high right now, and I don't want us regretting anything that might happen. Rick kissed her cheek and left

"Gosh I need bubbles and bubbly to deal with what just happened" Layton says to herself before taking a bottle of champagne with her to go soak in the tub.

Kiandre's p.o.v

I turn and look at Sienna, a girl from my math class fast asleep on the other side of my bed, usually I wouldn't allow my one night stands to overstay their welcome but tonight I just wasn't in the mood to chase her off.

Now I know what you all are thinking 'oh my god he's sleeping with other women, how could he, he doesn't love Layton'. Firstly it's just sex, I'm not making love to anybody- those are two separate entities

Secondly, according to the biological approach in psychology, our sexual drive is linked to other biological drives like hunger- here we would seek out food but when it comes to our desires we often seek out pleasure in order to reduce or avoid an underlying pain, so yeah let's go with this explanation.

I roll over and open my bedside drawer where I keep a Polaroids of Layton and me.

Every time I look at them I can't help but think about the Nickelback song 'Photograph', this song always related to me because my first kiss was with a girl named Kim in the 4th grade, ironic right? Now it holds a much greater meaning to me...

I miss that town

I miss their faces

You can't erase it

You can't replace it

I miss it now

I can't believe it

Kiandre's Translation: I miss how things were when she was here.

I miss our old squad.

Our memories together are engraved in my mind.

She's forever in my heart, there's no room for anybody else.

Looking at this photograph, makes me smile and remember her.

You get the idea. Here I am sleeping with girls to fill the void yet if I think of another guy experiencing the same pleasures she gave me I want to punch the wall, hypocritical right?

But I have to accept the possibility there might never be an 'us' to get back to and if that's the case I'm going to be a hoe- yes I said it, because she is the only one I want to have the whole 'white picket fence, family life' with.

I get out of bed carefully, I didn't want to wake Sienna, she's quite a lot to deal with and clingy- argh what has my life become. I make my way out to the terrace to have a smoke. It's quite comforting knowing Layton and I are under the same night sky, I only hope she looks at the moon and knows my love for her shines just as bright.

I just need a little more time then I'm coming for you babe, your home will be in my arms once more.
