41) Goodbyes
Kang stepped towards the middle of the energy shield that had been placed around him. He showed no fear as the four prepared their powers to fight back at him.
America stepped towards him, going to fight him first as the other three began stepping around him, forming a triangle.
America threw a punch at him, aiming for his face, and Kang raised his arms, blocking her fighting motions out of the way. America raised her legs and kicked him in the gut, making him stumble a bit and give an annoyed look.
"You are going to win this fight, Chavez." He stated.
"I.." She threw another punch, hitting him in the face. "Don't have to!" She smirked.
She threw another punch and he caught her hand. A look of fear crossed her face as he chucked her across the shield, causing her to hit the energy that surrounded them.
"Now." Strange ordered.
The three magic users summoned their power, aiming all their force on Kang. His body was forcefully held still as the magic of the three surrounded him.
His first thought was that they were trying to kill him, and he happily shouted; "You cannont kill me, witches!"
The three ignored him and pulled out the infinity stones, each one holding two.
The infinity stones lifted into the air, complying to the will of the three and forming a bubble around Kang. The powers of the three enhanced the bubble, forming a small pocket reality around him.
The spell ended and the infinity stones fell to the ground. A colorful shield surrounded Kang, and when he ran towards the edge, trying to break out, the bubble threw him backwards.
He was trapped.
America got up, walking towards him. She punched a star portal, one that she forced to not leave the universe, and she punched Kang's bubble through it before shutting the star.
The army around them immediately felt the loss of their leader, and began running. They spawned portals, time doors, anything that could get them away.
Carol and Monica released the energy shield and they hurried over to the four that all looked a bit exhausted.
"Should we go after them?" Monica asked, glancing around at everyone leaving.
"No. Give them a headstart. Our sorcerers will find them." Strange said. "You two deserve to go back to your universe."
"What about Kamala?" Carol asked.
America swallowed down a lump that had been forming in her throat.
"She's gone. One of the TVA soldiers pruned her." She said, her voice quiet.
"She's not gone then." Wanda said, cutting into the conversation.
"What are you talking about, I thought those that got got with the sticks got sent to the void at the end of time or something?" America asked.
"Yeah, but she's not dead. We have friends in the void. We can get her out." Wanda said with a smile.
A smile formed on America's face, very happy to hear that her friend hadn't met her end. Not yet at least. They could save her.
"I'll help Wong get this place to rights. For the dead or almost dead TVA men, get their tempads and prune sticks. Send Sylvie and Hela back to Asgard, America, once you guys get Kamala, send the Marvels back to their universe. One of you two, put the infinity stones back in the TVA. Then you three meet me back here." Strange said.
The group nodded before breaking up.
America looked at Wanda and Loki.
"I'll go find Kamala." Wanda decided.
"I'll get the infinity stones back to the TVA then." Loki agreed, not bothering to argue.
Wanda still had a Tempad from bringing Pietro back, then her eyes widened.
"Let me do something first." She said.
She flew herself off and America watched her leave.
"I'll go find a prune stick then, make myself useful. Want me to find you a Tempad?" She asked Loki.
"That would be nice, yes." Loki said, going to collect the stones off the ground.
America nodded and walked off.
—————
Wanda landed down next to Pietro. She used her magic to lift his body, then she casted a time door to the moment she left, back on Sokovia.
She set down Pietro's body where it needed to be, and she gave a sigh.
"I'm sorry. I tried, I really did. I wanted to bring you back. I.. I hope I can see you again one day." She said, looking down at his body.
He didn't reply.
She swallowed down her emotions and stood up, looking down at his body.
"I love you, Pietro. And I miss you."
She casted a time door, leaving before Clint or her own self could see her.
—————
She walked back out, going over to Loki and America, who now had a prune stick. Loki had a Tempad and he gave a nod to Wanda.
"Good luck." He wished.
"You as well." She smiled faintly.
He casted a time door and left, leaving Wanda and America alone.
"If you don't want to go to the void, that's fine. Getting pruned isn't exactly the nicest feeling." Wanda said.
"No. No I want to go." America stated confidently.
Wanda gave a nod and she took the prune stick from America. She turned it on and lightly tapped America, then herself. The two became a pile of sparks that flew off into the breeze.
Surprisingly, it wasn't as bad as the first time.
Wanda appeared, sitting on the grassy ground, and America was next to her, lying down. Wanda blinked and rubbed her eyes, standing up and leaning over to look at America.
America's eyes were shut, and Wanda carefully poked her, trying to get her to wake up. After a few carefully pokes to the face, America woke up and swatted Wanda's hand away.
"Okay, this place can get a bit creepy, and if you see Loki, just know it's not our Loki." Wanda said.
America gave a confused look, then a slow, awkward nod as she stood up.
Wanda looked around. She raised her hand and allowed her magic to scan for signs of life in front of the two.
"Hey Wanda." America said.
"Shh." Wanda said, trying to stay concentrated.
"No, Wanda." America repeated, tapping her shoulder.
"What?" Wanda asked, lowering her hand.
America was facing behind her, and Wanda turned around.
A random doorway was in the middle of a field, and Wanda grimaced, remembering who lived there.
"Do you think Kamala is in there?" America asked.
"Let's hope not." Wanda replied with a sigh, walking that way.
America followed behind her, worried as to what might be in the doorway.
—————
Loki walked into the TVA. He saw massive panic as doors opened and shut, hunters running in and out.
He walked through the chaos, heading towards somewhere random he could put the stones. What? Casey told him they were basically paperweights.
This wasn't what Loki was concerned about. He wanted to find Mobius. He thought maybe, just maybe, he could tell Mobius everything, get him out of the TVA area and figure out how to enchant him like Sylvie taught.
Is that not what Sylvie did to B-15?
Loki walked towards one of the two places he believed Mobius would be. The library.
It took him a few minutes, but he found it and walked inside. He saw a bunch of shelves knocked over, and went that way. He was very happy when he saw a distressed B-15 and a comforting Mobius.
He set the stones on one of the few standing shelves and he went over to the two.
"Mobius, B-15." He grabbed their attention.
Mobius gave a concerned look as to how he was there, but B-15 looked more like she'd seen a ghost.
"Look, I know you don't remember me or Wanda but I need you to leave the TVA with me, then I can reinstate your memories." He said with a confident look.
"You don't have to. I.. I remember it. Mobius doesn't but he knows you're telling the truth." B-15 said, standing up.
"Okay, well then I still need to get your memories back." Loki replied.
Mobius gave a concerned look at B-15, probably questioning his safety, but he didn't disbelieve B-15 and something told him to trust Loki, just this once.
"Fine, reinstate my memories." Mobius sighed.
Loki grinned and casted a time door. He walked through, Mobius and B-15 following him. They walked out to the front lot of the Roxxcart mall and Mobius grimaced as rain poured on him.
"You had to chose here?" B-15 shouted, also unhappy with the storm.
"No but I had a calling to come here for this!" Loki shouted back.
The storm was loud, so Loki could barely hear the scoff that B-15 released. He turned to Mobius, who looked like he recognized the place but didn't know for sure.
"Okay! This is only the second time I've done this, so bear with me!" Loki warned.
Mobius gave a huff and held out his arm. Loki gripped his wrist and focused his energy on enchanting his mind and allowing him to see everything.
—————
Sylvie took a Tempad and casted a door to Asgard. She and Hela walked through, going straight to Hela's room. It didn't seem to matter though, cause Frigga knew she'd snuck out.
The queen was sitting on a chair that was in the corner of Hela's room, and she set down one of her book into her lap and looked at the two as they entered.
"AH-! Oh.. Uh.. Hey mom." Hela said nervously.
"I'm not mad you left, I just wish you told us before you did." Frigga said, standing and walking over to the two.
"I know. I shouldn't have. Are you gonna tell Odin?" Hela asked.
Frigga chuckled.
"I have no need. I'm proud of you. I assume all went well in the fight?"
"Yeah! I killed so many sorcerers." Hela said excitedly. "The bad ones of course."
Frigga smiled.
"Well, I'm glad you're already here so I could tell you that we're all okay." Sylvie said.
"So where will you go now?" Hela asked, turning to her friend.
"I'm not sure. I doubt Strange will allow me to stay with his crew, but I'll figure out something." She shrugged. "I'm not hiding in apocalypses anymore, that's for sure."
"How about you stay with us. If the TVA is no more, you can't be taken from us again." Frigga offered.
Sylvie's face lit up.
"Really? Like.. You mean it?"
"Absolutely. Besides, Hela needs to spend more time with creatures aside from her pet wolf." Frigga said with a small wink.
"Mom!" Hela gave an annoyed look, causing Frigga to laugh.
For the first time in ages, a genuinely happy look was on Sylvie's face. She was finally home.
—————
Wanda used her magic to unlock the door and open it, walking down the steep steps, America walking carefully behind her.
They both heard chatter, and the chatter died down. Whoever was there definitely knew that Wanda and America had entered.
Red magic formed in Wanda's hand, expecting an army of Lokis like there were last time.
Instead, she saw old friends.
"Wanda?" Kid Loki asked, noticing her first.
"Lokis!" Wanda exclaimed, a grin forming on her face.
"Kamala!" America exclaimed, seeing her friend on one of the couches on the other side of the room.
"Ah so she's your friend?" Old Loki asked with a nod.
The magic in Wanda's hand went away as a sigh of relief formed on her face.
"Wait why are you guys here? What about the other place?" She asked.
"Oh, the other Lokis took that, so we came back here and turns out it's a perfectly good base, aside from the entrance." Kid Loki explained.
"What about the giant Loki downstairs?" Wanda asked.
"Oh he's happy. We found a bunch of food and gave it to him, making sure he wasn't going to receive the same treatment that the president gave him." Old Loki answered.
"You guys have a president?" America asked.
"One of the other Lokis." Wanda replied.
"Ah." America gave a confused look.
"So are you guys staying for a bit? What brought you here?" Kid Loki asked.
"We kicked the ass of the guy who ran the TVA. I'll have to tell you the whole story some other time. I'm afraid now we're needed for clean up." Wanda replied.
"Well I look forward to when we see you again. Tell Loki to come by too, Mobius as well!"
Wanda gave a small nod.
"I'll make sure to do that." She said with smile.
She casted a time door and America and Kamala walked through, Wanda waving bye to the variants as she exited last.
—————
B-15 watched as Mobius arm and eyes glowed a green color. Loki held onto his arm, his own eyes squeezed shut as he brought all of Mobius's memories back to him.
Mobius stared into his memories, gasping silently as he watched his life before the TVA, during the TVA, and after Kang all at once.
Loki let go of him and he put his hand on his head, trying to concentrate on one thing at a time.
"That was... A lot." He mumbled.
"Yeah. Kang kind of messed up your mind." Loki agreed.
"Where is Kang, now?" Mobius asked.
"Trapped. You guys are safe now." Loki said.
"So the TVA has no ruler now?" B-15 asked.
"No. But that's okay. People have free will now." Loki answered.
B-15 nodded.
"Thank you." She said.
Wow, words she never thought she'd say to a Loki. It felt weird.
Loki casted a time door and the three walked back into the TVA library, all soaking wet but none seeming too bothered by it.
"I have to go back to the Kamar-Taj, but I wish you two the best." Loki said.
B-15 nodded, putting a hand on Mobius's shoulder.
Loki casted a time door and went back to his timeline.
—————
Strange stood next to Wong as Wanda and Loki's time doors spawned around the same time, four people walking out. Loki dried himself the moment he regained his power.
America turned and saw the Marvels. Kamala hurried over and joined her older role models.
"You can send them back home?" Strange asked.
"Of course." America nodded.
She punched a star into the air and the Marvel's walked through, waving goodbye to the five. The portal shut and America walked back over to the others.
Wanda and Loki stood next to each other, Strange standing in front of them with a look of approval. Wong spoke to the two.
"You two proved yourselves. I don't see a reason in forcing you to stay here. You saved many lives, and many owe you. Thank you for your help."
A smile crossed Wanda's face and Loki just nodded, as if he expected that to be what was said.
"I'm glad we could be of use and proved ourselves. Are you certain that everything here will get fixed up?" Wanda asked.
"Yeah. Won't be the first time we've had to clean this place up from an attack." Strange replied.
Wanda's smile fell and she rolled her eyes, realizing he was mentioning the fight with her crazy variant way back when.
—————
Wanda and Loki were out of the Kamar-Taj, walking down an empty street. It was dark, for nightime had fallen. Wanda yawned and Loki glanced at her.
"Tired?" He asked.
"How could you tell?" She gave a chuckle.
"Lucky guess." He replied, not moving his eyes off of her.
They walked a bit mores, quiet with one another. Until Wanda spoke.
"What were you going to tell me, earlier?" She asked.
"Hmm?"
"You know, before you decided to die on me." She gave a glance to him.
Loki breathed in air, then held his breath for a short moment before he replied.
"For a Midgardian, you're not so bad." He admitted.
Wanda turned to look at him, an annoyed look covering her amusement.
"That's it?" She asked.
"Sure." Loki replied.
Wanda rolled her eyes.
"For a guy who tried to take over New York, you're not so bad yourself." She stated.
Loki gave a chuckle before speaking again.
"You know, you've made me feel many things. Things I never believed I would be one to feel. I mean, no one else in the nine realms has made me feel like this before."
A slow smile crossed Wanda's lips.
"And what's that?" She asked.
Loki released a breath he'd been holding.
"I love you, Wanda Maximoff."
Wanda brushed a strand of hair out of her face as blush crept over her. She didn't reply, trying to figure out the right words.
Loki noticed.
"If you don't feel the same, I understand. I promise to not be like other Midgardians who I've heard about." He said, his voice holding a hint of worry that she actually didn't feel the same.
Especially since he was so confident she did. The way she constantly was around him and always made sure he was apart of the conversation. Afterall, she used a whole lot of magic just to bring him back! Necromancy isn't something you do on a random person. Not to mention the kissing.
Wanda stopped walking, causing Loki to stop too.
She turned and faced him, looking up and making eye contact with him. She pushed herself on her tiptoes and wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him into a slow, long kiss.
One he didn't want to break out of.
Her lips were warm and soft against his, and her hands made their way to his hair, tangling her fingers in his curls.
The moment didn't end for a few minutes, until Wanda let go and she settled back on her feet. A smile had formed on her face and red covered her cheeks.
"I love you too, Loki Odinson."
