38) Working Through Things

The group sat around a large dinning table. The room was filled with many tables, but they were at the largest one. This table only consisted of Hela, Frigga, Odin, Sylvie, and the main party.

The food was served by servants under Odin. Different foods of all sorts sat on the table, especially meat. There were lots of meat types.

Small bowls of fruit sat at each person's spot, and Wanda and Strange learned that those were the desert trays and to not touch until Odin said it was clear to.

Loki sat next to Wanda, his eyes passing from Odin to Frigga, unsure how to feel. Both were dead according to TVA standards, and this would probably be his last time seeing either, and they didn't even know who he was.

Wanda noticed his worry, and she put a hand on his thigh, squeezing it gently to remind him that she was there, he wasn't alone.

Odin wasn't too talkative, but when he did talk, his voice boomed and the Midguardians had to refrain from flinching or covering their ears.

"So, what is this news that you bring us? You require the gauntlet back?" Odin asked, directing his question at Sylvie.

"Yes, there is an evil man on Midgard and he wants the gauntlet so that he can build an army and take over the timeline." Sylvie recapped.

"It would be helpful if some of the Asgardian army could assist us." Strange mumbled, and Sylvie added it to her previous statement.

"No. Midgardian problems can be solved in Midgardian ways. We have no reason to venture across time. Find me in the future and perhaps I will agree then." Odin stated.

Loki resisted the urge to say, too bad you're dead in the future Old Man. Luckily he managed to keep his tongue in his mouth.

He wondered who ruled Asgard in the future after the Thanos situation. It could be Thor, but something told him it wasn't. Thor liked Midgard to much to leave it for a destroyed castle.

"Odin, it wouldn't be such a bad idea to help them." Frigga suggested, her voice calm in opposition to Odin practically shouting.

"What I've said it final. We let these outsiders into our home and have them a feast. We don't need to give them any more until they show us that they deserve it." Odin stated, glaring at the queen.

Hela rolled her eyes, careful to not let Odin see the gesture.

The rest of supper passed by quickly, the halls loud with the sounds of roudy Asgardians. Occasionally there would be some chatter between Hela and Sylvie, but the party mostly stayed quiet.

Strange had a steady glare at Wanda and Loki, and from what Wanda could read in his mind, he was not unkind word happy with them unkind word running off together and unkind word taking the Tempad with them.

He was also very unkind word unhappy that Wanda was reading his mind.

Afterwards, they were lead towards the exit of the castle by Frigga, and Hela was sent to her room since Odin didn't approve of her joining the group.

Frigga handed Sylvie the gauntlet that she'd gotten from their souvenir chamber.

"Take care of it and be careful. Visit me after the fight, please." She said, looking at Sylvie like she was her daughter. In another universe, she was.

"We will. Goodbye." Sylvie said with a nod to the queen.

The group began walking away from the castle since Sylvie told them not to open a time door yet.

"Why not? We're wasting time standing around." Strange replied, annoyed at Sylvie's bossy attitude.

"Just give her a minute." Sylvie replied, glaring at the man.

The group turned around and saw Hela, far away on the balcony, getting up on the rails and jumping over. She landed in front of Sylvie, repeating the motions she'd done when the group first arrived.

"Sorry that took a minute. I had to get the maids off my ass. Let's go." She said with a smirk.

Strange rolled his eyes and Loki casted the time door.

The group, now holding another Asgardian, walked through one by one and made their way to Wong. He didn't seem too stressed at the moment, meaning there were no attacks thankfully.

As soon as he saw Hela, his stress rose. Strange quickly pulled him aside and explained that Hela wasn't the evil, murderer goddess that she would be in the future, or.. well, was in the past. Time stuff was confusing, but Wong didn't seem to appreciate his commentary.

"I told you to keep an eye on Maximoff and the Mischief God. Now you have two more Asgardians with you? You need to work on saying no to people joining us." Wong said, his voice at an angered mutter at Strange.

"Yeah yeah, got it. After we finish this, everyone will clear out." Strange assured him.

Wong didn't believe him, but it wasn't a good time to argue.

"So this guy, Kang as Sylvie calls him, he rules the construction of time and now wants to rule the whole universe?" Hela asked, bringing the two's attention back to the others.

"Yep." Loki nodded.

He seemed more relieved now that they were out of Asgard, but he wished he had said more to Frigga rather than just staying awkwardly silent every time he saw her.

"Well if he's constructing an army and Asgard won't give us their army, let's make our own army or team. I mean, you have the technology to go back to any time, surely we can recruit people." Hela offered.

"That's actually not a bad idea." Sylvie tapped her chin.

Mobius walked into the room that the female Loki variant was being held in.

He saw B-15 sitting against the wall, looking very distraught. He'd gotten closer with her over the past few weeks, so he quickly went over to her and sat down in front of her.

"Hey, earth to B-15." He said, his voice soft as he waved his hand in front of her face to get her attention.

"I don't understand." She muttered.

"Hey hey hey, stay with me. What happened here? Where's the variant?" Mobius asked, putting a hand on her shoulder.

"She took her." B-15 said, putting a hand on her forehead.

"Who?"

"Maximoff. A variant of our Wanda. Our Wanda is... dead." B-15 said, her voice low and shaky. "But then she refused to kill me."

Mobius hated this.

The things Loki told him were streaming through his head, even when he tried to push it away. If B-15 was in this too...

"What did she tell you?" He asked.

"She said that you and I were friends of hers.. And Loki, and that they had to leave us behind for some reason. Now we're brainwashed apparently." B-15 replied, moving her hand and staring at the man.

"Oh. Do you believe them?" Mobius asked.

B-15 opened her mouth to speak, but she wasn't able to for a moment.

"Yes." Her voice croaked. "I keep.. I keep having flashbacks. They're always in a green blur, maybe the Loki variant did something to me? But she's been inside here, no magic. But I keep seeing an old life, no TVA. What if..." Her voice trailed off. "What if they're telling the truth?"

"It's probably a sick game to get us confused." Mobius said, although he wasn't too sure himself.

"Yeah but why us? I mean, we're not superpowered, I'm a regular hunter and you're a dangerous variant specialist." B-15 argued.

"I... I don't know. The Loki variant told me the same thing, that him and Wanda left before they could get us out and that Kang did something to our minds." Mobius sighed.

"We can't tell people this." B-15 warned.

"Yeah, I agree." Mobius muttered.

"They'll think we've been confiscated, they'll have us pruned." B-15 continued.

"We should tell Ravonna, I trust her." Mobius said.

"No-!" B-15 said quickly.

Mobius glanced at her cautiously.

"I- I have a bad feeling about her. Let's just keep this between us for now."

"Okay."

The group stood around a room in a circle, facing one another. Strange next to America, America next to Wanda, Wanda next to Loki, Loki next to Sylvie, Sylvie next to Hela, Hela next to Wong, and Wong next to Strange.

"We have the sorcerers, that gives us some of an advantage but they had Mordo, meaning they probably have more sorcerers of their own too." Strange said.

"Their team has most of the power down, thanks to you guys, but they still have one power fuel, Jean Grey. Apparently she's from a team called the X-Men. She has power from a fire god or something, I don't know much but she is powerful. And she's a telekinetic." Sylvie continued.

"There's also chance they have another secret weapon stored. B-15 didn't tell me much but from what I gathered, they are prepared." Wanda added.

"And they have TVA hunters, all could be a problem if they join this fight. Their weapons are simple, get hit by the glowy end and you get sent to the void at the end of time." Loki finished.

America, Hela, and Wong stayed quiet for the moment, then the conversation continued, Wanda speaking.

"If this Jean Grey is a telepath, I'd be the best person to handle her. Sylvie, you killed Kang once, you can lure him with the gauntlet and make it seem like you want to kill him again, he'll fight back and then we trap him." She said.

"And if we're going to form a bigger team, we need suggestions." Strange said, glancing at Hela.

"We could call the Avengers. Perhaps not now but go back in the past and see if they'll join." Wanda suggested.

"As much as I'd love a reunion with the lot of them, the Avengers wouldn't do us much good." Loki began. "They have Thor, yes, but the rest of them are regular humans with machines and Midgardian weapons. They wouldn't be a good fight against a bunch of sorcerers and TVA hunters."

"You're just salty they beat your sorry ass in New York." Sylvie smirked.

"I let them win." Loki rolled his eyes.

"Okay, not those Avengers, but what about Pietro? He's enhanced." Wanda said.

Strange gave an eerie glance to her and Wanda looked back at him.

"As much as having another mutant on the team would help, I'm not sure having your brother on the team would work well." He stated.

"Why not? He's fast and can do a lot of damage." Wanda stated.

"We don't need any more family reunions. And in the end, we'll need to put him back in his timeline. You can't bring your loved ones back." Strange continued.

"I'm not saying we should! I'm simply stating that having him on the team would be smart, considering he's more powerful than people think!" Wanda argued.

"We'll talk more about this afterwards." Strange said before turning his attention to the rest of them.

"Talk about what!?"

"How about the Marvel's?" America suggested.

"Who?" All of the others asked simultaneously.

"In another universe, Carol Danvers, Monica Rambeau, and Kamala Khan were a Marvel-ous trio. They're super powerful together and could totally be useful, especially against an army. Before I was with Strange, I hung out with them and they do a really good job at defense and offense."

"Sure, we'll get those three." Strange nodded.

Wanda threw her hands up to her sides, an annoyed look on her face that Strange was approving the Marvels but not Pietro.

"If you go to another universe, you'll need America's power. Even if the gauntlet didn't send up a signal to Kang, her using her power sure will." Wong warned.

"Only a few of us will go then." Strange said. "Then if a fight starts, we'll come back and be ready."

"I'll stay. I'd like to be in the front line when the fight starts." Hela grinned.

"I'll stay as well, keep the gauntlet hidden until Kang shows himself. He'll probably send his own team or army first, so we need to draw him here before turning over the gauntlet." Sylvie added.

The group split up after a bit more conversation and Wanda walked over to Strange, crossing her arms.

"What's wrong with me getting Pietro, letting him fight, then bringing him back home safely?" Wanda asked, annoyed.

"Wanda, listen to me. You have the power to bring him back, you know this and I know this. What's to stop you from doing that now?"

"Fine, you want the truth? I miss him, but I understand the laws of nature. I understand that he's gone in this universe and there's a version of him in whatever verse I take him out of. So I'll take him out of a specific point, then put him right back there after the fight." She said.

Strange stared her down, then sighed.

"Fine. I'm trusting you Maximoff, don't make me regret it."

A smile formed on Wanda's face.

"Thank you." She said sincerely.

"Yeah, but I still need to know something." Strange said, crossing his own arms.

Wanda's smile fell.

"What?"

"What were you and Loki doing in Asgard? I turned around for a moment and then the two of you were gone. Thankfully you came back, but what happened?" He asked.

Wanda's eyes had opened a tad wider as the events replayed in her head.

Lips, hair, hands. More lips, tongue, sunset.

"He needed air. Seeing his mother must've made him uncomfortable so he left for a bit and I figured I'd go with him to make sure he came back." Wanda said, giving a nod.

Strange raised an eyebrow.

"Mhm." He hummed. "Whatever the reason, I'm glad your hands are healed. Did Loki do that or someone else?"

"No that was Frigga." Wanda said.

Her tone fell short at the end, remembering what the queen had told her. That would be later in life, hopefully. She didn't want to make a world changing decision right now.

"I hope you thanked her."

"I did."

"Good. Now let's go find more enhanced folks." Strange said with a huff, walking back towards the group.
