29) Many Questions
The four sat in one of the living rooms. Two couches and one comfy chair sat in the room with multiple bookshelves around the room.
Wanda and Loki sat on one of the couches, America on the other. Strange sat in the solo chair.
America had a stare on Wanda, but everytime Wanda glanced to her, she looked away.
"So you two were at a place called the Time Variance Authority?" Strange asked.
"Yes." Loki replied.
"And they consider themselves to be the rulers of the uh.. timeline?"
"Precisely."
"So the two of you got sent to the Void, a vacuum space at the end of time, and then escaped with a device that can send people to any point on the timeline."
"Uhuh."
"While your friend, Sylvie, who is another version of Loki, stayed back to kill whoever was behind this?"
"Yep." Wanda said this time.
"So how did you end back on earth?" America asked. "And how come I've never met the TVA although I'm a multiversal traveler." She added.
"Well for one," Wanda noticed America cringe a bit when she spoke, but she tried to ignore it. "I assume Sylvie killed the person in charge and it caused a disruptive thing to go through the system and it tried to change my perception of reality, which my magic sensed. So we got out before it could change us or kill us. For two, I'm not sure. Maybe everything you've done up until now has been necessary in the TVA standards, or you jumped through the portal to here after they got taken down and no other TVAs live among the universe."
America gave a glare to her as she talked, but then nodded and turned away to look at Strange.
"Sure." She muttered.
Wanda gave an internal sigh. She wanted America to warm up to her, but there was no way that she could see. America already hated her and she couldn't even blame her.
"Okay so let's say this Sylvie person did kill the man behind it all, and that means that the timeline now has no restrictions. Now there are endless possibilities that could occur since the timeline isn't under watch. The multiverse will collide on itself." Strange said.
"But then that wouldn't explain what I felt back in the TVA. Something was changing, yes, but what if another person came in and took charge? Someone with more power than the first had?" Wanda suggested.
"Why do you think that?" America asked.
"My running theory is that whoever is behind this has the ability to time travel, meaning that they could've gone back in time in our universe when the man in charge was killed, so therefore they can take over completely and rewrite everything now." Wanda said.
Loki was staring between the three of them, completely lost.
"Time travel is confusing. But we could use the Tempad, although Mobius did warn not to use the Tempad when it came to events like these." Wanda said, noticing his look.
"I wish we still had the time stone." Strange muttered.
"Wait, I know!" Wanda exclaimed. "Tony Stark. Before I left, the Avengers were talking about pulling a time scamp and they said they would go ask Tony Stark. I'm not a huge fan of man but chances are, he most likely built a successful time machine."
Strange bit the inside of his mouth, looking at Wanda with a hint of pity.
"What?" Wanda asked.
"Tony Stark, uhm. He's gone." Strange said. "He died, sacrificing himself to kill Thanos."
Wanda's face fell, her excitement at the idea that she had the answer now gone.
"Okay, what about Steve Rogers? He and Tony weren't exactly friends but he was the leader of the team and Tony still went to him for things. They reunited, right?" She asked, her voice less excited.
"He's, uh, gone.. too. He lived after Thanos then died during the process of returning the stones, I was told."
"Returning the stones-? Nevermind. Natasha Romanoff? She and Tony always had a small connection."
"Um.."
"Natasha is gone too?"
Wanda could feel her heart shattering. Tony Stark and her were never close, but Steve Rogers and her were. He was like a father figure. And Natasha?
Natasha was the only person who helped Wanda for a long time when she first joined the Avengers. They were the only females in the group and they bonded rather quick.
Wanda let out a shakey breath.
"Bruce Banner? He and Tony were.. friends."
"Bruce Banner is a complicated situation, we aren't exactly sure where he is."
"You have portals don't you? Use those." Wanda said.
"It's not as simple as that."
"What about Pepper Stark? Is she.. is she gone too?" Wanda asked.
"No. No Pepper actually might be the best person to go. Well.. Maybe not Loki." Strange replied.
"Hey!"
"You tried to mind-wipe her husband with the tesseract."
"Yeah like forever ago." Loki scoffed.
"Can I go meet her? I met a version of her once but she wasn't with Tony Stark, she was the leader of an evil organization. It started with an H, I forgot the name." America said.
Loki glanced to her with a confused look, but didn't say anything. Wanda slid down into the couch a bit more.
"Maybe. The only problem is we need to find her. Yes my magic can create portals, but we need to know where to go." Strange explained.
"Stark Industries? If Tony Stark is dead then she must've taken over. Let's just check what Stark Industries is doing." Wanda said, her voice low.
Loki scrunched up his nose a bit in disgust at the Stark Industries, but he agreed with Wanda.
"And, Doctor, if you're so against the idea of me being there, I can just shapeshift." He said.
His form shifted from Loki into Strange, only this Strange didn't have the magic red cloak.
Strange narrowed his eyes.
"Don't shapeshift into me." He stated.
"I'll keep that in mind."
Loki shifted back into himself.
"Fine, you can come too. Wong did say I need to keep an eye on the both of you so it's probably easier if you two are together." Steven sighed.
"Then let's go figure out where the Stark woman is, shall we." Loki said, standing up.

The four crossed into the next room that didn't have a bunch of ancient books, it had a few computers.
Only three though, which was fine since Loki didn't know how to work a computer. He stood behind Wanda, watching over her shoulder as she clicked away at the keyboard.
America was also a bit confused, working the computer, but she wasn't as terrible as Loki initially was.
"So what I'm seeing is most don't know where she actually is, but she hosts a lot of charity events after her husband passed away." Strange said with a sigh.
"Then let's find one of those in the near future." Wanda suggested.
"I did. A uh, ball sort of event. Dress fancy, blah blah, it's for an orphanage in Alabama." He said.
"Why a ball?" America asked with a small chuckle.
"The Starks are very show-y, everything is go big or go home for them." Strange answered for her.
"Yeah, don't they have a tower with their name on it in the middle of the city?" Loki asked with a laugh.
"That got destroyed." Wanda answered this time.
"Oh."
America glanced between the other three. She liked this universe, yes, but she didn't know much about it other than Wanda was supposed to be dead.
"Well anyways." Loki continued. "I am totally fine with going to a ball. If these people think I'm dead then I need a dramatic return, don't I?"
"Yeah, about that." Strange started. "Last time you went to a ball like this, you took out a man's eye. You would be kicked out immediately."
"Shapeshifting." Loki reminded him.
"A ball? I mean if that's the only way, sure, but really?" Wanda asked.
"What's your problem with balls, Wanda?" America asked.
Strange internally facepalmed from that sentence.
"I'm just not a fan of overcrowded fancy events. And now if people think I tried to kill a child, I don't think I'm gonna be liked in a crowd." Wanda replied.
"You two are both coming. If there's any way we can figure out time travel without an infinity stone or your Tempad thing, we need to do it." Strange stated.
"Can I come?" America asked.
"Aren't you a bit young to go to a ball?" Loki asked.
"Aren't you a bit old to talking like that?" America rolled her eyes.
"Yes. The four of us will go. The timing says it'll be tomorrow, staring at 7. Until then, America, work on your flying. Wanda and Loki... Don't work on your powers at all." Strange decided. "And I will go get a glass."
"Of tea?" America asked.
"Sure."
Strange turned off the computer and got up, exiting the room. America glanced at Wanda and Loki before following him out.
Wanda turned off her own computer as well and looked back and up at Loki.
"Do you even still have the Tempad?" She asked.
Loki waved his hand and the Tempad appeared. He handed it to Wanda and Wanda began clicking on it, trying to figure out how it worked since this was her first time actually getting a good look at it.
"What if this is a waste of time?" Wanda asked.
"It probably will be, I'm not a fan of Midgardian inventions." Loki replied casually.
Wanda gave an annoyed stare at him.
"But hey! Maybe it will work out. Before I got sent to the TVA, I noticed two Tony Stark's in the Avenger's compound meaning they clearly succeeded. I'm just unsure if this will help us reach whoever is behind this before he can take over." Loki said.
He put up a thumbs up and Wanda rolled her eyes, standing up.
"You're lucky you're pretty." She mumbled.
"Obviously." He flipped his hair.
Wanda handed him back the Tempad and he de-summoned it, allowing it to disappear in green sparks.
She brushed her hand through her hair and grumbled a bit.
"I hope this works. If not then we could've left Mobius and B-15 and the others to get their mind wiped, or worse." She said.
"I agree. As much as I don't like the TVA, I don't want harm to come to Mobius." Loki admitted.
"And God, what about Sylvie? She definitely killed the thing behind this, what if she got hurt in the process?"
"Relax, she's me. She'll get out of their fine."

----------
Sylvie gave a shakey breath. She hadn't gone back to the TVA, she couldn't. She was still walking down through the void. Alioth was tamed, eating the new things that were getting pruned but staying away from Sylvie.
Things we're still getting pruned.
Sylvie had killed this man, but what if another came through, just like he said there would?
Sylvie held her bloody sword in a firm grip. She couldn't seem to release it.
Her hope was that people had free will, they could do what their actual mind wanted, not what was written for them. She hoped Loki and Wanda were safe, that even if a new man did come through, they had made it out.
She doubted that.
If they had made it out, they would be trying to fix this problem. There was no way to fix what was happening here. The timeline was broken and now things were spiraling out of control.
Sylvie could hear her feet hitting against the grass before a crackling sound occured behind her. She turned her head and a look of confusion formed on her face as she noticed something unfamiliar.
A man made of blue formed into the world and Sylvie turned completely around, lifting her sword a touch.
The man of blue turned around and faced Sylvie, looking her up and down.
"You must be the famous female Loki variant." He said.
"My name is Sylvie." She replied through gritted teeth.
"My apologies." He replied. "I came to an understandment that you are the one who killed my variant? I'd like to thank you for that."
"You're He Who Remain's variant?" Sylvie asked, her sword lowering.
"That's what he's called?" The blue man laughed. "My name is Kang. Kang the Conqueror."
"That's a bit on the nose."
"Perhaps, but it isn't lying. I'm looking to create an army." The man stepped towards Sylvie. "I believe you'd be a perfect fit to join."
Sylvie eyed his hands. He wore silver gauntlets that looked powerful, and he must've noticed her gaze.
"Ah, these beauties. They have special abilities in each, allowing me to control certain aspects of-"
He was so caught up in viewing his prizes that he failed to see Sylvie raising her sword up to swing at him.
He got a frog hair's amount of notice and his first instinct was to raise his arm. He could have casted a shield, but Sylvie's movement was far too fast.
Her sword swung down and chopped off the man's arm, slicing it clean through just where the gauntlet ended on the arm. She clicked the Tempad that she had on her waist. She'd stolen it from He Who Remains, and the man fell through the portal that opened beneath him.
Sylvie gave out a breath and looked at the bleeding out arm in front of her. She pulled off the gauntlet and held it carefully.
She'd taught Loki how to enchant a giant cloud, she could learn his magic to send things out of the naked eye.
She gave a shakey breath again and her green magic swarmed the gauntlet, causing it to disappear. She felt a slight heaviness in her step the next time she walked, so it worked.
Maybe it actually was in her heart.
The blue man, Kang, appeared again, although this time it was in front of her.
"Shit." Sylvie mumbled.
She clicked the Tempad a few times and quickly portaled out of the void, ending in a new place she didn't know, but figured she could hide in.
Was she really back on the run again?
