21) Animals

Wanda stood next to President Loki, regular Loki and the other Lokis stood at the other side of the room. Wanda had a feeling that this President Loki wasn't too popular.

"You lead the wolf right to the door! Where's the rest of your pack?" Old Loki asked angrily, glaring at the President.

"I prefer snake to wolf." The president said without care.

"I've eaten both, they die just the same." Kid Loki said, stepping forward.

"Apologies my liege." Unfamiliar Loki put his golden hammer to Kid Loki's neck.

Wanda glanced at her Loki with confusion, hoping he'd give her some idea of what was going on but Loki had the same face of confusion.

"I betrayed you, and now, I'm king." Unfamiliar Loki stated proudly.

"About that." President Loki stepped forward and clones of himself appeared all over the room, pointing weapons at the other Lokis.

"You can't be serious." Unfamiliar Loki said, still holding the hammer to Kid Loki's neck.

Wanda rolled her eyes. Wow, Lokis just loved to fight each other. She felt very out of place being the only non-Loki.

Even Kip, who was in her hands, seemed like a Loki at this point. They still wore a small golden helmet and clearly had a dislike for the President Loki.

"Come on, what did you expect?"

President Loki spoke with a hint of amusement in his tone as his army pointed weapons at the other Loki.

"That was not the bargain!" Unfamiliar Loki demanded. "I gave you our location in exchange for shelter and supplies, you give me your army and I take the throne. I don't even see your army! Only clones of yourself."

"Ah yes, well we've had some slight misfortunes." President Loki said, flicking his hand towards Wanda.

Two clones stepped forward and put daggers to Wanda's neck at his will.

"Really?" Wanda mumbled, not showing much sign of fear. She was more just annoyed at this situation all together.

She made eye contact with her Loki and just gave a look that said 'You need better variants'.

"And you chose quite a sad bargain. How about this one? My army. My throne." President Loki winked.

Wanda's eyes glowed red and all the clone's eyes flashed red.

All the clone's weapons moved away from the other Lokis and herself, and pointed at the original President Loki.

"What is this trickery!?" President Loki demanded from the sudden amount of weapons pointed at him.

Wanda silently moved away and over to her Loki. She held Kip, stroking the animal who had started hissing at the President. At the same time, an alligator that Wanda just noticed began growling.

"For God's sake." Unfamiliar Loki muttered.

Regular Loki rubbed his temples at the attitude of all his variants.

"Why the hell is there an alligator in here!?" President Loki shouted.

"He's a Loki!" Kid Loki and Old Loki said at the same time.

Croki growled one more time before running and jumping at the President. He bit at the variant's arm and the President let out a grunt as he shook the creature off of him.

Kip tried to do the same but Wanda held onto them tightly, not letting them run at the President again.

As President Loki ripped his arm away from Croki's mouth, he revealed himself to be missing a hand, causing him to let out a shriek as soon as he noticed.

Wanda's eyes glowed red again and all the clones began attacking one another, as well as going after the Unfamiliar Loki since, in Wanda's perspective, he was another bad Loki variant.

Kid Loki picked up Croki who had a happy smile from the tasty Loki hand.

Loki ducked as a dagger flew over his head and flew into the wall as two clones began charging at the wall.

Wanda put sparks of magic in one hand and held Kip in her other hand, holding them tight to herself as she began going through the battle to get away from the clones.

She'd released her own control over them, but now they barely had any control over themselves since President Loki seemed to be out of commission with his hand gone.

"Just gonna-" Wanda stepped over a clone's bleeding body and continued walking.

Regular Loki, Old Loki, and Kid Loki who was holding Croki were all doing the same thing, silently walking around and past the other clones.

A clone jumped at regular Loki and Old Loki shot a blast of green magic, knocking the clone away.

Old Loki then swung his hand around and casted an illusion of the six, Wanda and Kip, himself, Croki, the kid, and regular Loki, all joining the fight.

"Come on." Old Loki said, leading them to the back of the place, away from where the entrance was.

Regular Loki grabbed Wanda, who had been heading for the entrance, and pulled her with them so she quickly started following them.

Old Loki casted a green, smoke like portal and went through it, Kid Loki and Croki following.

Regular Loki gestured for Wanda to go in, so she did, then he went through the last, the portal closing behind them as a clone was thrown towards it.

Kip, who was now being held a touch less tight once they were back out into the open thanks to the portal, jumped out of Wanda's arms and began walking beside the variants.

Croki, who was still being held by Kid Loki, didn't bother to move, but did keep an eye on the new animal.

"Animals!" Old Loki insulted the President and Unfamiliar Lokis. "We lie and we cheat and we cut the throat of every person who trusts us, and for what? Power. Glorious power. Glorious purpose?! We cannot change."

Kid Loki set Croki down on the ground and he crawled over next to Kip and the two began growling at each other as they marched in next to each other.

Wanda looked down at the two, wondering if they would start fighting. It seemed like they were just in the middle of a conversation though, so she didn't interrupt.

"We're broken, every version of us whether it be a variant or even a clone! Forever." Old Loki finished with an annoyed grunt.

"And whenever one of us dares try to fix themselves, they're sent here to die." Kid Loki said, adding onto the angry rant.

"That's why I need to get out of here!" Regular Loki said.

He sped up a touch so he could walk next to Kid Loki rather than behind, but Wanda stayed in the back since she didn't really feel like apart of this conversation.

"Nothing can change until the TVA is stopped." Loki said.

Old Loki stopped and turned around.

"And you trust an Avenger and another Loki variant?" He asked, his tone not exactly kind.

"Yes! They're the only ones I do trust. And now, I've gotten half of the people I trust and the other half may be our only chance of getting out of here and stopping the TVA."

"That's good enough for me." Kid Loki said.

Old Loki stared at regular Loki, then at Wanda, then back to regular Loki.

"Okay, okay. We'll help you." He said. "But approaching Alioth is a death sentence. We'll get you to it, but that's as far as we go."

"I'm sorry," Wanda finally cut in. "You want to fight Alioth?" She asked, looking at her Loki like he was crazy.

"Yes. Do what we do best and stab it in the back." He replied confidently.

"It's a cloud."

"Yeah, a living cloud that can die."

Wanda shook her head, then gave a sigh.

"Fine, let's go."

They began walking again, this time walking next to each other rather than one by one behind each other.

Well, Kip and Croki were behind them, but that was it.

"So, how did you get wrapped up in all this Loki buisness?" Kid Loki asked after a bit of walking.

"That's a great question. Um, I got brought in at the same time as Loki, well, this Loki." She pointed at the Loki walking to her right. "And then a TVA worker told us that he wanted our help with finding a different Loki variant and, so I wouldn't get pruned, I said sure and had to deal with a bunch of Loki nonsense. Then I ended up getting pruned anyways and I guess this Loki decided to follow me."

"Ah." Kid Loki nodded.

"So does this place not have time rules or were you recently pruned?" Wanda asked.

"No, we don't have time rules. I've been here for decades, probably centuries. It got lonely but I met other Lokis, some as foolish or brave as you, trying to go to Alioth, others who betrayed me. Our Alligator Loki and this Loki were probably the only ones who didn't turn on me. They're my family, I'd say." He replied.

Wanda nodded, wondering if her variants had ever been pruned and were killed by the Alioth. Most likely.

"I have to say, it feels odd walking toward the gargantuan creature." Old Loki said after a bit. "What's your full plan of action other than just stabbing it?"

"Go behind it, go inside, find it's heart or brain or whatever, and then you know, do it in." Regular Loki explained.

"I mean.." Kid Loki started.

"Okay just because it's not complicated doesn't mean it's bad."

"It also doesn't mean it's good." Kid Loki replied.

Croki growled, crawling to the other side of Loki while Kip brushed against Wanda's legs as a way to say 'pick me up'. So she did.

"See, he's on board." Loki said, gesturing to Croki.

"He's praying. He thinks we're going to die." Old Loki replied.

The six stopped as they reached the top of a small hill. Alioth was in the sky, barely moving. It looked like a normal storm cloud for a short moment.

Suddenly, a ripple in front of them appeared and a yellow glow showed. Cracks in the sky opened and a large ship appeared, landing on the ground.

Many soldiers ran around, probably confused but looking to save themselves as they ran around their ship.

"All hands to battle stations!"
"This is the work of the devil!"

The storm cloud began lowering to the ground in the near distance from the ship.

"Alioth is like any animal." Regular Loki explained as the six watched the scene.

The storm cloud began racing towards the boat. Purple lightning flashed inside of the storm as it moved.

"It'll go after the big meal first." Loki continued. "And while he's busy with that, we can sneak around the back and uh.."

Loki's voice trailed off as Alioth reached the ship. It's black and purple smoke began taking and killing all the soldiers on the ship in a matter of seconds.

"Fire!"

A soldier shouted and multiple cannons began shooting out balls of fire at the beast, but it didn't do anything to affect the cloud.

Alioth went around the ship and filled it, then left within seconds, leaving the boat broken and abandoned, no more soldiers.

The human variants gave different reactions to the sight as it ended.

Old Loki had an annoyed face, Kid Loki looked like he'd seen it before but felt uncomfortable by it, Regular Loki looked like he was disappointed in himself cause now he'd have to change his plan, and Wanda was in shock, unsure of how to process that.

"Okay.." Regular Loki mumbled. "Maybe, we uh. Um think a bit more about this, huh?"

All the other variants, animals included, turned and looked with him with a slight glare.

Then Kid Loki turned his head around.

"Car." He said.

"What?" Regular Loki and Wanda asked at the same time.

"Along the horizon." Old Loki added.

"Is that bad?" Regular Loki asked.

"Well, usually means cannibalistic marauders or cannibalistic pirates." Kid Loki said.

Sure enough, a red car with odd symbols on it was coming up, over one of the hills and towards the variants.

"Delightful." Regular Loki replied.

"They're slowing down." Wanda said, confused.

The car seemed to have noticed them and was now coming to a stop.

"What are they doing?" Old Loki asked.

"Just stay on guard." Kid Loki instructed.

The passenger seat to the car opened and a familiar figure stepped out.

"Sylvie." Loki and Wanda said simultaneously.

Loki took off running toward her and Wanda quickly followed.

"I don't understand. Are they cowards or trying to be brave?" Old Loki asked.

"In not too sure." Kid Loki replied.

"Come on."
