Chapter 7 - Taking In News
Y/N POV
"W-what did you just say?" These words were pretty much useless. I had heard excactly what GF said. She stared at me for a little while more , before her face became even more serious. "When you talked about the most upsetting parts of the past, your eyes glowed. And there was an angel's sigil on your forehead. That is an.. very angel-like feature." GF's voice trembled a little. Can you imagine how I feel right now? Being told you're a literal angel isn't as cool as it might seem when your entire family are demons. "But how... why-.. Why now?" I had so much more to ask than just that. But my throat was all dried out, making it hard to speak.
GF put a hand to her chin. "I don't know. But, that explains why you haven't had demon powers when we were children." I didn't answer. I didn't know what to do with that new information. All I could do was stare with my E/C eyes wide. GF got up. "I'll.. get you a glass of water." When she came back, I snatched the water from her hands immediatly. The cool liquid lessened the aching of my throat, in a way. I felt compelled to say something, anything.
"....So what do I do now?" My timid words made GF blink in thought. "Well, I don't think there's anything to do besides wait. Your powers could be activated at any time now that we know you're an angel." Wait? Haven't I waited my whole life already? But, I thought I wouldn't be getting any powers at all... I took in a sharp breath, letting all of this sink in. Muttering an 'okay' was the most natural response I could give at the moment. Then, I thought of what else to do.
"Can I tell.. Sky?" She is my best friend after all. We tell each other everything. Well, except for her former crush on my sister.. but we let that be the past. GF nodded after a bit. "I guess. It won't really change anything. But try not to trumpet it all around, will you?" So I can tell Sky! Good. Not right now, though soon. What am I gonna say though? 'Hey, I'm actually an angel. Suprise!' Eh. I'll think about it.
I looked over at GF. Even when I was still shook, I tried as hard as I could to not show my bewilderment. "Sis, can... I be alone for a bit?" After all, it's not every day you find out you're not the entirely same species you thought you were. GF took me in her arms, putting her head on my shoulder. "I can't imagine what this is like for you.." I melted into her comforting touch, for a moment feeling like we were children again. As my little sister walked to the door to leave, she shot me a last glance. "Just tell me if you... feel anything, m'kay?" I nodded.
GF closed the door behind her, leaving me alone. With a heavy sigh, I laid down on my bed. Did I look like I took the news lightly to GF? I have no idea. She knew I didn't feel like it. I was freaking out a ton, that's for sure. I'm tired... It was just noon, but that didn't matter to me right now. I felt exhausted. Within a few more seconds, my eyelids fell shut, thoughts swirring in my head like bees in a hive.
