Her carpeted floor glowed ice blue in a form of a huge snowflake shape, the candle fire around her burned ice blue as Tomomi's meditating position levitated a few feet above the glowing incantation. It has been some time since eveything that has happened to her. It's been a few months, exactly. Since the kidnapping, rescuing Eri, The news about Overhaul's disappearance, and the School Festival.
When the breaking news that Kai Chisaki, aka Overhaul, went missing, it spreaded all over like wild fire. No one knows where the police truck he was in has went, for there were no more records of it. No evidence or anything. It is now a cold case. Tomomi says good riddance. She didn't care what happened to him anymore. She was glad he was out of Eri's life for good.
But besides that, Tomomi had been working hard on her new level of her quirk. When she talked to Aizawa about her new form of ice, he was immediately intrigued.
"Mr. Aizawa?" Tomomi mumbled, as she walked into the now empty classroom.
The school day had just ended and everyone began leaving back to their dorms. But Tomomi wanted to talk to Aizawa before heading back. So she told everyone to just leave without her.
"Yes, Miss Todoroki?" He asked, not even looking up from his work. He was grading their last essays they had to do on modern art. "You being here now usually means you want to talk about something serious."
"I have something to show you and you're the only one that I feel I can trust to see it, first." She explained, clutching her school book close to her as she closed the door behind her.
She walked over to his desk, standing in front of him. Aizawa sighed, setting down his pen to give her his attention. "What's wrong?"
Tomomi said nothing but stuck her hand out in front of him. She quickly made the ice blue flames pop out of the palm of her hand, into a small fire ball.
Aizawa's eyes immediately widened as soon as he saw what she could do. It shocked him completely. He did see some of it when they were rescuing her and Eri but not like this. Does this mean she has fire, now? It really wouldn't make sense since her body temperature was way lower than the average human.
The last time they checked, Tomomi's body was so cold that she could survive in the middle of Antarctica and live there for however long she wanted. Which means this fire should have burned her severely by now.
But he also noticed something. This fire didn't radiate heat. It actually made the room colder than before. Super cold, actually. He felt coldness hit his face his as he leaned in to look at it closely.
Aizawa's curiosity peaked as he slowly grabbed an unsharpened pencil. Slowly, he pushed the pencil into the ice fire and watched as it froze in an instant, falling into a pile of snow. In the middle of her hand.
"That is suspicious." Aizawa mumbled, watching Tomomi let the fire die. If you could even call it fire. "How long have you been able to do this?"
"It only happens when I'm stressed or angry." She explained. "It happened when Midoriya and I stopped Chisaki from taking Eri again. And it happened when Mirio was shot. I was......So angry that he was hurt and all of a sudden, the tips of my hair formed into the ice fire and....I don't know."
"Hmmmm....."Aizawa hummed, thinking to himself. He was afraid this would happen. He was beginning to think that he maybe her quirk wasn't just of elemental property. Maybe her quirk was something more. But ice fitted her better.
"Well....."He started, leaning back. "I think it's best we look more into it. For now, try not to use it too much. Especially during hero courses. It's best if you try to keep your emotions at a peaceful level if it's emotionally charged."
Tomomi nodded, wholeheartedly agreeing with him. She did not want to harm anyone accidentally anymore. Not after what happened with Shimesu.
'Tomomi.....' a whisper ran through her head as she continued to meditate, with her eyes glowing bright blue. Her levitating sitting position slowly floated up and down as her fingers slowly moved fluidly. Making light blue sparkles and light glow around her.
She had the Himura Family book in front of her, being held up into the air at her level by white smoke as she turned the pages with her quirk.
The book was given to her by Rei. She and Shoto visited her last weekend and she began telling them the history of her side of the family. Shoto was intrigued by it but not like Tomomi. Their mother gave her the book because she was so curious about their ancestors and where they were from.
'Tomomi......' the voice whispered again, nearly knocking her out of her concetration. 'Tomomi.......'
Tomomi frowned a bit, trying to ignore the dark voice. She shook her head a little, trying to get back to her reading until it happened again. It was worse then the noise she used to hear.
Her room was super cold as her lightstrips were even a light shade of blue. And the more she was losing control over her thoughts, the more it got colder in her room. Snow began to fall as the whispers began to become relentless.
'Tomomi.......listen to your soul.....' it kept saying. 'Embrace your darkness......Ignore the light.'
"Ugh!" She groaned, trying to ignore it again. But the more anger she felt, the more her room began to turn into a blizzard.
'I am all you need.....'
'I am all you should want......"
'I can end your pain....."
'We can end your pain together...'
"Damnit!" Tomomi exclaimed, her body falling right to the ground, the candles were blown out and the huge snowflake disappeared into cold smoke.
Tomomi's eyes went back to normal as the blizzard in her room stopped completely. She laid her hands on her bare knees as she sighed, annoyed with herself. This has been happening for the past three weeks. That same damn whisper in her head. At first, she only had it happen when she was sleeping. Which is why she thought that maybe meditating was the best approach. While learning about her family.
But it didn't work. Sadly. And it irritated her to no end.
She tucked a piece of her stray hair behind her head as she picked up the book, closing it before standing up. "Well, this was a failure." She mumbled to herself.
Bruni, her new light blue pet gecko, croaked a little, crawling from her desk to her legs. He traveled up her bare leg, all the way to her shoulder, cuddling his head on her neck. Tomomi smiled a bit, tracing a finger on his head before walking over to her silk kimono robe.
"Bruni, I feel as though I am envious of you." She said, slipping on her long silk robe. Tying it loosely on her, she slipped on her slippers and began to make her way towards the door. "You don't have to worry about human complications. And anything cam make you happy."
She stuck out her left hand and used her right pointer to twirl above her palm, making a small pile of snow appear in her hand. Bruni squealed happily and jumped from her shoulder to the small pile of snow as she left her dorm room.
She smiled as he snuggled into the snow, sinking in it and letting it cover him. "Cute~"
"Hey, you guys seen my favorite red shirt?" Denki ran into the common room with only his pajama pants on. His hair was diseveled and everything. Sero and I were planning on going to the mall and I can't find my damn shirt."
Bakugou, who was cooking pancakes for everyone ( shocker, I know.....He actually lost a bet to Kirishima ), looked over and saw that his shirt was laying ontop of his messy hair. His face deadpanned as he stared at him, thinking he was the dumbest person in the world.
Everyone else noticed immediately and began to laugh at their goofy classmate.
"Hey, dumbass." Bakugou called, making him whip around to look at him. "Use your head, maybe you'll find it sooner than later."
"Huh?" Denki said confusingly, patting the top of his head. As soon as he felt his shirt, he blushed light pink. "Hehe......thanks, man."
"It's too early for your silly incantations, Kaminari." Shoto grumbled, dragging his feet to the refridgerator. He was helping himself to a cup of ice coffee his sister premade the night before.
"Anyone noticed how cold it was just an hour ago?" Mina asked, ruffling her curly hair. It was the last warm days in Musutafu before the winter weather began to come in so everyone was dressed lightly that morning.
"That was coming from Tomo-chan's room." Momo said, pouring syrup onto her pancakes. Her hair laid all around her shoulders as she sleepily ate. "My room is next to hers so I felt it the most."
"Yeah, snow began to blow through the vents." Hagakure added, drinking warm tea. "My room is below hers so I felt it almost all morning, as well."
"Does that usually happen?" Akira asked, ruffling his impossibly long black hair a bit.
"Only when she has nightmares." Shoto explained, sitting nex to him at the kitchen island. "Which is why I'm worried about her."
This has happened a lot lately. But neither Shoto or the rest knew that it wasn't from nightmares, it was from her meditating. She never told them about her new found powers in hopes that she could control it a bit. Also, she was kind of embarrassed about causing a mini snowstorm just by meditating.
Bakugou wouldn't admit it but he was a bit worried about her, too. There were times in class where she would doze off during lessons, she would always be in deep thoughts and she looked troubled about something. Like she was fight a thought away. Everytime he questioned her about it, she would just reassure him that she was fine and that she was just fighting off a migraine.
He didn't believe it. But he wasn't going to pry if she didn't want to talk about it yet. It obviously was not his business.
Soon, Tomomi exited the elevator with her left hand out and her kimono robe flowing behind her. It was the beginning of the weekend and she made plans with Momo, Tokoyami and Akira to meet his girlfriend, Mira at the mall near his family's home. Almost everyone in class has met her and they all like her. She was very beautiful and sweet. On the shy side but very comedic and socialble once they got to know her.
Bakugou and Kirishima were spending the day in the gym. It was like they were gym buddies now, ever since they got permission to leave campus to go to a local gym. But hey, it paid off really well. They look great.
"You doing okay, Tomo-chan?" Uraraka asked as she sat next to her. Bakugou placed a plate of strawberry and cream crepes he made Tomomi seperately, knowing it was her favorite food.
"I'm okay." She reassured, giving her a smile. "My apologies if I caused the dorm to be cold again. I was doing some meditations and I began to think too hard."
"As long as it's not nightmares, again." Shoto mumbled, crossing his arms. He stared at his twin blankly.
Are you sure it was only due to meditation? You know you can tell me anything. We promised each other that we would not hide from each other anymore. He telepathically said to her, raising an eyebrow at her.
Tomomi sighed inaudibly, looking back at him with a promising glance. He had every right to act this way. She does have a bad habit of hiding things from him and she did promise him that she would never do it again. If only he would do the same thing. I'll tell you about it tonight. But only you can know right now.
Shoto grew more curious. What did she mean by that? He was even more worried now.
"Well, we should start getting dressed pretty soon." Akira said, eating his pancakes. He had 7 pancakes on his plate. "The driver will be here in about two hours."
"How is it that you can scarf down 7 pancakes? Don't you ever get stomach aches?" Kirishima asked, still shocked by how much this guys could eat in such a short amount of time.
"He eats for the both of us." Venom's head popped out of his head, stretching all the way around his body, just to face Kirishima's surprised look.
"WOAH!" Kirishima leaned back so quick, he nearly fell off his chair.
"I didn't know he could do that!" Midoriya suddenly appeared near him, scribbling down in his journal. "It is almost like Dark Shadow! But.....more monstrous."
Venom's head slithered towards him, all the way around his neck and back to his face. It was like he was flashing him a scary smile. "I like this fluffy haired green boy." He said in his deep and gravelly voice. "Can we keep him?"
"Venom, he is not an object you can keep." Akira groaned, controlling him to slither back into his body. "Sorry about that."
"Oh don't apologize!" Midoriya waved off with a smile. "He's actually helping me with learning all about your quirk~ You're truly amazing."
Tomomi smiled at the two. Midoriya was so cute when he was excited about different quirks. She was glad that Akira found a friend in him so quickly. It made her more hopeful about his future here.
She felt like he was going to be just fine going forward. It was moments like this that made her feel at peace. Now if only she could find a way to keep it from disappearing.
