CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE: YOU BROUGHT US HERE TO DIE!

You were startled to hear the bell, or perhaps a gong, ringing throughout the building. Somebody rang the bell from the lobby. The building was shaking as the lights changed. Everyone was shocked by it. Diego released a frustrated huff. "Does no one listen to me?" He asked out loud.

"No, sweetie, we don't," Lila replied.

You rolled your eyes. "I still haven't found anyone and someone already rang the damn bell." You grumbled and started walking around. "I need to get back to the lobby."

After spending a few more minutes circling the area in search of the sigil, waiting for a guardian to appear, or seeking for an elevator, your head snapped to the side as you heard rapid footsteps. As you narrowed your eyesight, you noticed two familiar people. "Allison? Viktor?"

"Go, (Y/n), go!" Allison yelled as she held her arm tightly. When the two of them got close, Viktor took hold of your hand and pulled you along with them. "Here, here! Go, go!" As soon as you three entered the spa room, you hid behind a counter.

Your eyes widened to see Allison's wound. "What the hell happened?" You questioned in shock.

"The guardian attacked us." Viktor quickly explained as he looked for a towel to bandage Allison's wound. "I managed to push it away to buy us some time to escape."

You found a towel and started to bandage Allison's injury. Allison gave you a surprised look as she turned to face you. You still cared, just a little bit, despite her hatred for you and her desire to vent her frustration on you. Viktor, who was assisting you, caught Allison's attention. She was horrible to all of you, yet her siblings still cared about her.

Out of guilt, Allison began confessing the truth. "I made a deal with Dad."

You and Viktor both took a brief pause as you both fixed your eyes on Allison. Your heart ached at the thought that Allison would make a deal with Reginald that would result in the deaths of Klaus and Luther. "This was all your fault?" You asked while Viktor continued to tie the towel to wrap Allison's wound. "You're the reason why Luther and Klaus are dead?" You asked angrily.

Allison shook her head. "No, I had nothing to do with that." She said truthfully. "I swear." She wailed in pain when Viktor tightened the knot on the towel.

"And you expect me to believe that easily?" You hissed as you almost tried to attack Allison, but Viktor wrapped his arm around you to stop you. "After everything you've done to me? To us? Are you fucking kidding me?!"

Allison shook her head as she winced from her wound. "I promise, (Y/n), I would never hurt Luther and Klaus."

"Why tell us now?" Viktor asked as he continued in trying to prevent you from ever laying a finger on Allison.

"Because I need the two of you to believe me, okay? That I did this for all of us. Luther and Klaus too." Allison replied while wincing from her wound.

"What did he offer you?"

Allison hesitated for a moment. "I need you to trust me. If we get through this, everything's gonna be okay."

In a fit of rage, you tore yourself away from Viktor and raised Allison, choking her with your powers. "(Y/n)!" Viktor called out as he grabbed your shoulder. "That's enough! Let her down!" He pleaded

Dark red veins started to show up around your hands, and your eyes were glowing a deep shade of red. Looking down at you, Allison attempted to gasp for air. She had a pleading look in her eyes when she faced you. "(Y/n)... please trust me."

"I heard a rumor..."

"I heard a rumor... you forgot you killed those men."

"I heard a rumor that you think you never joined this last mission and you were in your room resting."

"I heard a rumor... that you're going to do exactly as I say."

As you continued to stare at her, her words resounded in your head. She used her powers on you once more despite her apology from back in 1963. You shook your head at Allison. "I don't think I can..."

You choked Allison harder and you could see her failing an attempt to rumor you to stop. Allison's eyes was about to roll back and you would've snapped her neck until the guardian barged in and threw his flail weapon while holding a chained sickle. You dropped Allison and the three of you dove and moved away from the lethal weapon. "You guys go! I can buy some time." You told Viktor and Allison.

Viktor shook his head. "No way, (Y/n). I'm not leaving you!"

"Just go!" You yelled before standing up to face the guardian. Viktor groaned and hesitated before leaving the spa while Allison lingered for a brief period of time, peering up at you. You looked down at Allison. "Allison, fuckin' leave!" You scolded. Allison hesitated but left at the other exit.

Viktor's floor changed into the fourth floor while Allison landed on the ninth floor.

You quickly used your powers to blast the guardian away from the room. "Alright, fucker. Let's do this."

You stepped out of the room and shoved the guardian into the hallway once more. The guardian bumped his back against the wall and it immediately threw his chained sickle. Its blade grazed the outside shell of your ear as you duck.

You winced slightly and used your powers to block the sickle from coming back. You yanked the guardian towards you and fired a powerful blast. "I'm angry and frustrated." You huffed as you threw a table at the guardian. "So I'm not gonna hesitate to tear you apart."

The samurai guardian they had earlier encountered was still being fought by Ben, Five, and Sloane when they got to the laundry room. The trio had now taken cover behind the washing machines. "You've hit him with your axe five times," Ben told Five as he glanced at the axe that he was holding. "He should be dead by now."

"It's the armor." Five replied. "It's like hitting cement."

Sloane has abandoned her white jacket. "There's a space between the backplates." She informed.

"We need to get behind him." Five glanced at the guardian which was snarling.

Sloane nodded. "Let's kill this thing."

"Sloane, wait—" Five tried to stop Sloane but Sloane ran away from her hiding spot. "Shit." He murmured before spatial jumping.

"Hey, asshоlе!" Sloane yelled. When Sloane jumped up the wall to attack the guardian, the guardian hurled a dagger at her, stabbing her in the side of the stomach. The guardian was about to execute Sloane when she collapsed to the ground.

Reappearing behind the guardian, Five swung his axe and was about to strike it until the guardian swung its fist in his direction. Five fell to the ground after losing his hold on his axe. He noticed the guardian preparing his sword to kill him when he looked up.

Ben closed his eyes tightly and debated whether or not to assist. After a brief moment of doubt, he turned to face the guardian and let loose his stomach's tentacles. He tried to kill the guardian by squeezing it with his tentacles, which gave Five and Sloane time to catch their breath.

Ben screamed in agony as the guardian cut through his tentacles after breaking free. The guardian was getting ready to murder Ben as his tentacles withdrew back to his stomach. Five immediately grabbed his axe and yelled as he swung his axe to kill the guardian from behind.

The three panted heavily from exhaustion as Ben and Sloane looked at Five incredulously. Ben and Sloane smirked and smiled in relief while Five fought back a grin before exiting the room with them.

While this was happening, Viktor started to explore the fourth floor where he was located since he was now apart from you and Allison. "Five? (Y/n)? Allison?" He suddenly heard energy building up from a closet just from behind him.

The door was busted open revealing Lila stepping out of the room. "Finally, someone with a power worth mimicking." She said breathlessly.

"Lila?" Viktor asked in surprise. "Why were you in a closet?"

"I'll explain later," Lila replied as she stared at the incoming guardian wielding an ax. "Shit."

Lila stood beside Viktor while Viktor sighed. "I'm tired of running."

"Me too."

In response to Lila's nod, Viktor began to glow and use his powers, and Lila mimicked him by doing the same. The energy built up inside them as the guardian charged at the two of them. "This feels oddly familiar," Lila commented.

"At least this time, we're not aiming at each other," Viktor replied as he and Lila shared a look. Together, Lila and Viktor launched a coordinated energy blast that was strong enough to permanently knock the guardian down.

Lila laughed in delight. "Let's go." She told Viktor as the two of them walked together out of the hallway.

Diego found himself back in the lobby and spotted Klaus lying on the floor. "Klaus?" He asked in disbelief. The elevator opened revealing Viktor and Lila together. Viktor's face lit up in surprise when he saw Klaus. "Oh my God, Klaus!" He gasped. "Are you okay?" He asked worriedly as he helped Klaus stand up. Allison has also arrived at the lobby. "Klaus!"

"Lila!" Diego called out to catch his lover's attention. "How'd you get out?"

"What happened?" Allison asked worriedly as she also helped Viktor to help Klaus up. "We thought you died."

Klaus groaned. "If only. Hey."

"Hey, you okay?"

"Yeah, I think so."

When they arrived, Five, Ben, and Sloane spotted Klaus as well. "Klaus." Five breathed out.

Viktor turned to look at Five. "You look like hell." He commented.

"Why don't you try killing a guardian?"

"We just did."

"So did we," Ben replied.

Five turned to look and noticed that almost everyone had returned to the lobby. When he realized you were gone, he started to fret. "Wait, where's (Y/n)?"

Viktor looked back at the elevators. "Sh-She stayed behind to fight the guardian..."

Lila approached Diego ad Diego continued to speak. "I told you to stay in the—" She didn't let him finish when she slapped him across the face. Lila paused for a moment before grabbing Diego's head and pulling him into a kiss. After pulling away, Lila grumbled. "I love you!"

While Five was patting Klaus on his back, Sloane gasped when she saw that Klaus was still alive. "Klaus, I thought you were dead."

Klaus nodded and waved his hand down. "Yes, yes, I'm alive and amazing, despite Dad's attempts to bash my brains in, but tearful reunions later. What you guys need to know right now is that... Dad killed Luther. And he locked me out of the tunnel, and he rang that stupid bell!"

When Five spotted Reginald by the entrance of the hotel, he walked away from his family. "What's your plan, old man?" He questioned in annoyance as his family followed and walked behind him.

"We don't have time for this," Reginald responded.

"You killed Luther!" Sloane barked in anger.

"I had no choice. You refused to come together as a team."

"All of your stupid myths and stories." Ben hissed in anger, finally speaking against Reginald. "There were never seven bells or Norsemen. You brought us here to die!"

"That's not so. Somewhere in this hotel is the key to resetting the universe. We just need to find the sigil!"

"I don't care about your sigil! None of us do." Sloane argued.

Five first glanced behind him before turning to gaze at the ground when he noticed something strange. Running up the stairs in a hurry, he checked what he had found.

"We barely survived that guardian with his stupid helmet and his sickle!" Diego exclaimed.

Viktor stared at Diego. "The guardian we killed had an ax." He said.

"Ours had a sword," Sloane added.

Lila and Diego exchanged looks. "There's one left."

Viktor's eyes widened in horror. "It's still with (Y/n)."

Klaus froze when he heard your name while Sloane snapped her head to look at Viktor. "We have to go after it."

"Because that worked so well the first time," Ben replied.

"It's (Y/n) we're talking about! My sister!" Viktor argued and soon the group began to argue while Five scanned the floor. Five's eyes widened in realization. "Hey, I found the sigil! It's on the—"

You ended up falling with the third and last guardian as it made an entrance in the lobby by destroying its ceiling from above. His foot was on top of you and you were below him as the two of you fell down. You turned to look around and saw the chained sickle abruptly severed Five's arm. Five screamed in pain.

"FIVE!" You yelled before glaring intensely at the last guardian you've been battling since a while ago and changed your position to be on top of him. "You fucker!"

You used your powers to push him to the ground while flying yourself in the air. Your eyes were ablaze in dark crimson. You checked on Five, who had just swiftly undone his necktie and was using it to apply pressure to his bleeding arm. As the guardian started to stand up, you landed right next to Klaus on the ground.

"Baby sis!" Klaus gasped.

You glanced at him and stared at him wide-eyed. "Oh, my God! Klaus!" You gasped before snapping your head at the guardian, who immediately threw its chained sickle at you and Klaus. Klaus was hit but you quickly stopped the sickle just in time before it strikes you. The guardian's armor plate was cut when you yelled and turned around to re-direct the chained sickle at it.

The guardian snarled and threw bombs around at Diego, Viktor, Allison, and Lila. The flail weapon of the guardian, attached to his chained sickle, struck Ben in the stomach. Diego made an attempt to knock the guardian down with a few punches, but he was unsuccessful and collapsed to the ground.

Your eyes widened when you saw the guardian charging at Sloane. You quickly stood in front of her, using your powers to stop the guardian and protect Sloane. In an attempt to murder you, the guardian pushed its sickle farther, but you had to surrender control as the dark red veins grew more evident. You tilted your head and used your other hand to push the sickle away, almost destroying it.

You hoisted the guardian into the air, stripped it of its armor, and rendered it defenseless since it was no longer armed. Reginald, who was now in a different position to stay safe, was in awe of you. The guardian moaned and managed to stealthily remove a dagger from his back before hurling it at you and stabbing you in the right side of the chest. You cried out in pain and fell to the ground. "(Y/N)!" You heard Five's distant scream.

While you continued to lay down, your ears rang and your vision started to blur. While attempting to focus your vision, blood started to choke you. You have to finish the guardian. You need to. When you sat back up, you saw Sloane was attempting to prevent the guardian from killing her.

Sloane strained, trying to use her powers even as she winced in pain. The guardian was abruptly grabbed by someone to keep Sloane safe. It appeared as though Luther had returned. "Nobody hurts my wife, you son of a bitch." Luther hissed before throwing the guardian away from everyone, but it wasn't enough for it to be killed permanently.

It turns out that Klaus was the one who assisted Luther in making a brief comeback so that he could assist everyone and see Sloane once more. You weakly smiled when you saw Luther.  Luther and Sloane exchanged hugs as they expressed their longing for one another's warmth and comfort. When Luther spotted Reginald, he gave the man a hard look. "All those years I stayed loyal to you." He stated in anger. "You wasted my life on the moon, and for what? To use me on this stupid mission?"

"You did have a purpose," Reginald stated. "I left you to guard the most precious thing in the universe."

"And what was it?"

"You'll soon understand. You all will."
