Aquarella hummed to herself as she pressed the keys on the piano, trying to find the perfect melody that fit her lyrics. "I wanna be where you are. Feel it slidin' by your side while you count the stars. I'm like a child in this place." Aquarella sung, the music from the piano mixing perfectly with her song. As she continued she didn't notice Soulina and Riri enter her loft and watch her. "And I don't want nobody else, to hold me when, I'm in pieces. Hold me when. Hold me when, I'm in pieces." Aquarella leaned her head on the piano, closing her watering eyes.
Soul and Riri noticed Jessie get up from the couch and sit down next to Rella, putting an arm around her and she leaned into him. Soul frowned sadly for her big sister, hating how much Aquarella couldn't even enjoy herself without being so heartbroken. Ever since they moved to Boston, all she did after school was stay home, smoke and write her music, that was mainly about Shuri. Jessie always said she wrote so much songs she could have at least three albums already, once he learned what albums were of course.
"What's it called?" Riri asked, resting her hands on the black piano.
Soul couldn't help but furrow her brows slightly, not quite knowing what the title was called either as Rella never told her yet. Soul set the groceries on the table and went to stand next to her girlfriend. "In Pieces." Aquarella stated quietly.
"This might be too soon but girl, you need to figure out your shit and get the damn girl." Riri said. Soul and Jessie didn't disagree but they would've worded it more sensitively. Soul nudged Riri who shot an apologetic look but she did mean what she said.
"It's too late for that." Aquarella mumbled against Jessie's chest. "It's never too late to get your dream girl," Riri countered.
"What are you guys doing here anyways? You're supposed to have dinner with your family." Aquarella questioned, not liking the topic being on her. Soul rolled her eyes at Rella's attempt to change the subject. "We figured you'd need some food so we brought you some since we were at the store anyways. Ri even got you those brownies that make you trippy," Soul explained. She still didn't know what weed was and she didn't really want to.
Riri handed Aquarella a plastic container with the deserts and she smiled barely in thanks. "Okay well, we have to go but you also need to call Mora today." Soul added, leaning down and pressing a kiss to her sister's cheek. "I will. Bye, Shelly," Aquarella waved her fingers as Soul and Riri left the loft.
"I'm gonna put the food away and then I have to go meet up with my tutor." Jessie said in Aquan, standing up and going to the kitchen as Aquarella tiredly watched. "You mean your little fuck buddy?" Aquarella deadpanned. Jessie scoffed, clearly in denial but Rella knew him better than that.
"You still coming to the party tonight?" Jessie asked as he put the milk and juice into the electric freezer box.
"If I'm feeling up to it," Rella shrugged slightly. "Rells, you're never feeling up to anything these days. You're coming, okay? And, I heard their doing some kind of open mic night, so maybe you can sing one of those songs you got going on." Jessie suggested, smirking to himself but Aquarella couldn't see that. "I'm not sure," Rella mumbled, unsure of herself. She definitely was a little nervous about singing in front of hundreds of people when she didn't exactly look completely human. And people made her anxious anyways.
"Don't worry, me, Soul and Riri are gonna be there for you. You'll be okay." Jessie reassured.
Aquarella laid her head on the piano, still unsure of this idea. Top it off, she had nothing to wear. "Oh yeah and Selya sent you a dress she made, it got here last night when you were sleeping."
Fuck.

"It's so beautiful. Who's it for?" Selya asked as Aquarella had just finished singing 'In Pieces' for her, Mora and Attuma who were on video call. Aquarella looked at the holograms with a heavy sigh, "It's for this girl. We didn't really leave on a perfect note, now I can't get her out of my head and my music is the only way I can express how I really feel." Aquarella shut her song journal as Selya moved to sit next to her, despite not being there in person.
"What's her name?" Attuma butted in and Mora pinched his arm for not being sensitive to how Rella was feeling. Though he wasn't exactly the best at relationships either. He was still trying to find ways to impress Okoye and wasn't getting any progress. Even though Soul tried to tell him she was already married. But, that didn't make him back down, it just boosted his ego more.
Attuma rolled his eyes at Rella's no response, "That just told me all I needed to know. It's that girl named, uh Sushi? No, uh Shuri, right? Yeah it's her. I knew you liked her!" Attuma grinned. Aquarella rolled her eyes, choosing to ignore him, she turned to look at Selya. "Don't listen to him, he doesn't know anything about love." Selya said.
"Still no progress with Okoye?" Aquarella glanced back at Attuma with a smug look and he couldn't help but scoff as Mora and Selya chuckled. "Says the one who falls for her enemies every single time. Why are you always with someone who you hate? It's a bit concerning." Attuma said and Mora pursed her lips, not totally disagreeing with him.
"It's not my fault! It's a coincidence!" Rella argued, a small pout on her face. "So, why don't you just tell her that you like her?" Mora asked.
"I don't like her." Aquarella grimaced, getting eye rolls from Mora and Attuma. "That makes no sense. Why do you hate her, she's very nice?" Selya spoke, feigning confusion. Selya never personally had a problem with Shuri and they did have a conversation once when she seen Shuri at the beach with some girl. She never told Rella as she didn't see it as a huge deal considering she assumed Rella and Shuri still hated each other.
"There's a reason I dislike her and one of those things is she's making me feel like this and I hate it. I don't do feelings, I don't do emotions, I don't do relationships, and I certainly do not do love." Aquarella stood up, walking towards her bedroom with her bracelet as the holograms followed her.
"So you should tell her and let her go." Selya advised but Mora knew that wasn't gonna work. "Aquarella, you should at least try with her. If she makes you happy, that should be the only thing that matters." Namora said, Attuma and Selya both obviously agreeing with her.
"Can we move on from this topic please?" Aquarella requested, pulling out the dress from her closet that Selya made. She was never a fan of long clothing that covered her but the dress was way too gorgeous to not wear.
"How's everything going over there since I've been gone?" Aquarella asked, pulling off her top after Attuma turned around so she could change. "Well, Namor and your mother aren't very good at sneaking around. I found a painting in his room of her so safe to say he's always been absolutely in love with her. And your mom sometimes just goes in your room and cries. She's been pretty depressed lately." Selya informed, a sad smile on her face.
Aquarella licked the front of her teeth, not wanting to feel bad for her mom but she couldn't help but blame herself for her mother's depression. If she just listened and heard her out then maybe they could be a happy family. But, the more she thought about that, the more she didn't care. They could never be happy with the secrets she knew her mother and father carried. "So that was probably the painting he wouldn't show me," Aquarella figured with a careless shrug.
"How's school? Make any friends yet?" Namora asked before Selya could.
"I wouldn't say friends exactly. Half the people there are scared or freaked out by me and the other half just wanna fuck me." Aquarella shrugged, it's not like she was even into any of them anyways. Americans definitely freaked her out, especially the preppy white girls. "Do you like anyone there?" Selya asked.
"Well...there's this one girl named MJ and she's pretty cool I guess. I feel like she got memory loss or something cause this girl can't remember shit from high school." Aquarella said, recalling anytime she asked MJ if she had any friends or did anything cool in high school and MJ couldn't remember half of it.
"I also learned about some of those earth heros from books at the library. Otherwise school is pretty boring and not as fun as I hoped it'd be. They said I'm way too advanced for some of the classes so I don't know if that's a compliment or not." Aquarella slid into the red dress that hugged her body perfectly, as expected because Selya knew her measurements by heart.
"Aren't you going to a party tonight?" Attuma asked.
"Only cause Jessie is making me go, plus Riri, Soul and MJ will also be there so I guess it won't be that bad." Rella held up the red latex type heels that Soul bought her and cringed, still hating how she had to wear shoes. "I still hate these." Rella muttered, pulling them on her feet and tying the laces.
"Anyways, I have to get going. MJ is gonna be here soon. Bye my lovely family." Aquarella blew a kiss before hanging up the call and their holograms disappeared. She sent a quick text to Jessie to let him know that she was on her way. And since she obviously didn't have a license, MJ was gonna pick her up.
MJ and Ned both sat in the car, patiently waiting for Aquarella to come down after the text MJ sent her. "So her name is Aquarella, she hates shoes and she's oddly captivating? Don't you think that's suspicious? She could be a mermaid or something," Ned suggested, always finding Aquarella a bit odd when he seen her around campus. "Mermaids don't exist Ned," MJ denied.
"We said the same thing about aliens and yet here we are," Ned pointed out, making a pretty good point. "Good point. Maybe we should just ask her," MJ said and Ned nodded in agreement.
Aquarella walked to the car struggling to walk with the heels. Once she made it to the car she hopped into the backseat and smiled at MJ. "Thanks for picking me up last minute."
"Of course, it's not a problem. This is my friend, Ned, by the way." MJ introduced and Rella took his outstretched hand and shook it gently with a smile. "Nice to meet you, I'm Aquarella but everyone calls me Rella." She greeted, "Nice to meet you too," Ned smiled, already liking her kind personality.
"Before we go, I have a quick question for you," MJ said, turning her body more to look at Aquarella who fiddled with theย ย rings on her fingers. "Are you a mermaid?" MJ asked and Aquarella's eyes widened, not expecting that. "It's okay if you are! We totally don't mind at all!" MJ rushed out, mainly scared to get Aquarella upset if she was one.
"We don't?" Ned mumbled and MJ shot him a warning look. "Oh yeah! We totally don't mind!" Ned added.
"Y'all are weird, you know that?" Aquarella chuckled to herself, more amused than anything. She didn't really care if MJ knew cause she was pretty chill and assuming Ned was similar to that, then she didn't really mind if they knew. "Yeah we get told that a lot," MJ said with an awkward smile.
"I'm not a mermaid. I'm a siren though," Aquarella shrugged, looking down at her phone that Riri insisted for her to get. MJ and Ned's mouths fell open as they stared at the girl. "Can I hook my music up to the car thing?" Rella looked up, not sure why their mouths were open.
"Are you like messing with us? Or are you for real?" MJ asked, using her hand to shut Ned's agape mouth. "Huh? You asked me the question. I'm confused, I thought y'all wanted an answer," Aquarella furrowed her brows in confusion. MJ and Ned shared a look, both silently agreeing that they believed Aquarella but needed some sort of proof. "Can you prove it?" MJ asked.
Aquarella pursed her lips in thought and leaned forward, grabbing Ned's water bottle in the cup holder. She unscrewed the cap and used her hand to bring the water out of the bottle, letting it float around in small bubbles as MJ and Ned watched in fascination. "Awesome," the spoke in unison. Aquarella hummed and put the water back into the bottle and handed it to Ned. "Is that good?" Rella asked, ready to leave already.
"Uh yeah, yeah that's good." MJ pursed her lips awkwardly, starting the car and beginning to drive to the party as Ned asked Rella questions the entire time.
At the party, to say half the school was there was an understatement because it was absolutely packed in the house. It looked like some kids threw the party once their parents left home on a business trip or something. There was no way a college student could afford it so she knew they definitely must've had some rich ass parents. Aquarella walked into the living room area where everyone was dancing to the music the DJ was playing.
As she glanced around the room for Jessie she still couldn't see him anywhere so she decided go outside to check. Rella grabbed a cup and walked to the table where the drinks were. "So did you hear that there's apparently like a new king of wakanda? Doesn't that sound suspicious considering the other king didn't even have siblings?" Aquarella furrowed her brows in confusion as she listened in on some girls conversation.
"No that's not true, he had a sister," The other girl corrected. Aquarella looked at the alcohol choices and grabbed the red drink that looked like it would leave a pretty good stain. "Why didn't she take the throne then?" The third girl questioned, causing them all to think about it.
"Maybe she's like scarred for seeing her mom die and was too depressed to take it," the first girl chuckled, causing the other two to do the same. "Or maybe she realized she wasn't made for royalty like that chick in the princess diaries," The second girl imput with a small laugh. Rella rolled her eyes at how stupid they sounded and took a sip of her drinking, grimacing at the horrible taste.
"Or, maybe she killed her own brother. I mean they did say he died of some illness that nobody heard of. And she is some kind of scientist so it does add up." The first girl said and they laughed together. Rella tapped the first girl on the shoulder and she turned around, looking at Rella with an annoyed look once she seen who she was. "Yes?"
"I couldn't help but overhear y'all's little conversation and I think it's very disrespectful to speak on the deceased in that way." Aquarella stated, not wanting to cause a scene but she could handle it if it went that way. "And I'm supposed to care?"
"Because people like you can go to hell if you say stuff like that," Rella said with a smile. "What do you mean by 'people like you'?" The other girls behind her both stepped up so it looked like it was a three against one. "Well seeing as you're wearing a cross, I'm assuming your definitely a Christian and you guys believe in hell and heaven so if you keep talking your shit then you gon' be in hell soon," Aquarella explained as though it was obvious.
"Is that a threat?" The girl asked, getting in Aquarella's unfazed face. "You keep gettin' in my face and it's gonna be," Rella stated, not noticing a crowd begin to form. Jessie shook his head, and ran to the kitchen to grab Riri and Soulina. "Why don't you mind your business new girl. You don't wanna start shit with me, I know karate." Aquarella chuckled and the girl shoved her, causing her to almost lose her balance.
"FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!" The college students chanted, pumping their fists in the air as Soul, Riri and Jessie pushed through the crowd.
"I really wish you didn't just do that," Aquarella sighed, pulling off her earrings and tossing them into someone's hands. "Rells! What are you doing?!" Soul rushed over and pulled her back from stepping forward. "You can't fight them, Rells!"
"Yeah listen to stupid little sister, freak! Wouldn't want her to lose another family member and become an orphan, would we now?" The girl taunted, laughing with her friends.
"Oh you better fuck her up before I do," Riri said, pulling Soul away from Aquarella to let her continue. "You know what? Beat her ass," Soul said. Jessie face-palmed, obviously not wanting Aquarella to go to jail for beating the life out of this girl.
Aquarella watched as the girl pulled off her heels and handed them to her friends, asking them to step back and let her take care of it as if she had the win already. "Come on bitch!" The girl taunted.
"Come on, Rells! Fuck that white bitch up!" Riri cheered her on.
Aquarella immediately dodged the kick from the girl who's name was apparently Jazmin. Jazmin threw a punch but Aquarella blocked it and threw her own, knocking the girl onto the ground and it wasn't even full force. The crowd of students cheered her on and Jazmin pulled herself back onto her feet, wiping the blood from her mouth. "You think one punch is gonna do shit! You got lucky!"
"Do you ever shut the fuck up?" Aquarella dodged another punch. Jazmin went for another kick but Rella swept her foot, causing her to fall onto the concrete again. "You ain't worth my time," Rella shrugged and walked to Soul but Jazmin grabbed her foot and tripped her, making her fall down.
A punch was thrown at Aquarella but it barely did anything to her, hurting Jazmin's hand more. Aquarella climbed on top of Jazmin and threw more punches with more force, to where her two friends had ran over and attempted to pull Aquarella off. Soul and Riri ran up and grabbed the two other girls presumably named Brittany and Tiffany. "Don't touch my sister you stupid blonde bitch!" Soul punched Tiffany and shoved her into the pool, getting a round of laughter from the crowd of students.
"And don't touch her hair!" Riri punched Brittany and shoved her into the pool as well.
Aquarella stood up and pulled up Jazmin by her hair. Soul passed Rella the red solo cup, "You look thirsty, maybe you should have a drink." Rella poured the red alcoholic drink into the girls mouth, causing it to spill out as she coughed it out.
"Hey what the hell is going on here??!!" The two students who apparently threw the party pushed through the crowd, and the students all booed them for crashing the fun. "Oh she just drank a lil too much. You might wanna take her home to get some rest," Aquarella said. "Yeah take these hoes too," Riri pointed to the other two girls who were being helped out of the pool.
The two boys took the three girls away, and the crowd of students applauded. Aquarella shrugged and walked over to Jessie who held a look of exasperation. "You're gonna make me have a heart attack one of these days," Jessie said and Aquarella chuckled and threw her arms around him. "Oh you love me anyways."
"Unfortunately," Jess laughed.
As it got later, more people left but there was still at least 100+ people there. Though all of them were just hanging around, all partied out and just chilling. At this time the DJ was playing more slower songs for the few couples that were dancing together. MJ and Ned left a few hours prior as Jessie was gonna give Rella a lift home.
Aquarella sat on a couch next to Riri with Soul obviously sat on her lap. Jessie got up and walked over to the DJ who was unironically Jessie's friend. Aquarella didn't know how he did it but he was constantly making friends. A lot of girls always pushed themselves on him until they found out he way gay or when Aquarella would threaten them.
"What's he doing?" Riri asked as Soul and Aquarella clearly knew him better than her.
"I don't know." Aquarella shrugged, confused herself.
"Aye!! Can I get everyone in the living room please?" The DJ who's name was Mustang, called everyone in the party to the living room and they obeyed. "Alright so someone here is a songwriter and she wants to sing a special song she wrote. So, everyone give it up for my girl Aquarella!" Everyone clapped as Aquarella's eyes widened.
Jessie dapped up Mustang, giving him an appreciative nod and going over to Aquarella. He took her hand and pulled her off the couch. "I am gonna kill you!" Aquarella whisper-shouted at Jessie who made her sit at the beautiful black piano. "At least you'll face your fears," Jessie shrugged as Mustang set up the microphone onto the piano for Aquarella.
"Uh, sorry I'm a little new to performing in front of people so bare with me." Aquarella pushed her red locs back as she spoke softly into the mic, seeing all the small talk between the students, good or bad but she didn't really care. "This is called In Pieces." Aquarella cleared her throat, pressing the keys of the piano as everyone listened.
Her complete focus was on the piano to where she didn't even notice another person enter the living room. Jessie gave them a small smile and Soul and Riri both waved at her with bright smiles and she returned them.
"I wanna be where you are
Feel it slidin' by your side while you count the stars
I'm like a child in this place
Watch me turn in circles like a tiger in a cage"
"Ooh, I know it's complicated
Ooh, but you don't have to say a single word"
"'Cause I don't wanna go on
Oh, livin' a life that you've been missin'
And I don't want nobody else
To hold me when I'm in pieces"
(Ah, ah, ah)
"I wanna be where you are
I want you to need me like the fire needs the spark
I need to see it in your eyes
To lose myself completely like a full moon in the tide"
"Ooh, I know it's complicated
Ooh, but you don't have to say a single word"
"'Cause I don't wanna go on
Oh, oh, oh, livin' a life that you've been missin'
And I don't want nobody else
To hold me when I'm in pieces"
"It's like I'm barely breathin' (Ah, ah, ah)
Strung out on the feelin' that I know I can't explain (Ah, ah, ah, ah)
But you've got to believe it (Ah)
I would die to keep you in my veins
I wanna be where you are
Feel it slidin' by your side while you count the stars"
Aquarella opened her eyes, looking at the people who were listening and nodding along softly to the song. That's when she noticed her. There she stood, her eyes not once leaving Aquarella who continued to sing. As she sung, she never took her eyes off of Shuri.
"Ooh, 'cause I don't wanna go on
Oh, livin' a life that you've been missin'
And I don't want nobody else
To hold me when I'm in pieces"
"Hold me when
Hold me when I'm in pieces"
Everyone clapped, including Shuri who held a smile on her face knowing the song was about her. Now she knew why Jessie begged her to come to the college party. "Let's give it up one more time for Aquarella!" Mustang said into his mic as Aquarella stood up, giving everyone a grateful smile. "Thank you for listening. Y'all have a good night," Rella said.
Aquarella wrapped her arms around Jessie with a smile, but her eyes remained on Shuri. "You still need me to drive you home?" Jessie asked, pulling away to look at her.
"Nah, I'm good. I'll catch up tomorrow." Aquarella said, leaning down to press a kiss to Soulina's forehead. "Text me when you get home sis," Rella said, looking more at Riri who wasn't as drunk as Soul was. "I got her, don't worry," Riri reassured.
"I'll make sure they get home safe," Jessie said.
"All right, I'll see y'all tomorrow." Aquarella said before walking over to Shuri. "You bring an actual car this time?" Aquarella raised a brow at Shuri who held a small smirk. "See for yourself. Come." Shuri took Aquarella's hand and led her outside.
"I'm guessing Jessie set this all up, huh?" Aquarella guessed, as per usual was Jessie doing the lords work. "Definitely. He begged me to come to this party for whatever reason. I'm glad I did show up though. Just in time too." Shuri unlocked the car that appeared to be Aquarella's dark purple camaro. "You stole my car?" Rella raised a brow.
"You don't even use it or have a license, so I see no problem in borrowing it," Shuri chuckled. "I got it because it's pretty and suits my colors." Aquarella said with an eye roll as Shuri opened up the passenger seat and let Rella slide in. "No offense but it doesn't really go with the red hair," Shuri said and before Rella could argue she had already shut the door.
Aquarella hummed to herself and connected her phone to the car, playing Kehlani. Shuri hopped into the car after waving Jessie goodbye whilst he was helping Soul into his car. "So what's with the red hair?" Shuri asked, driving off and Rella had no idea where they were going cause it certainly wasn't her place. "I just wanted to try something new, but I'm going back to purple tomorrow cause it's way too heavy. Why? Don't you like it?" Rella turned her head to look at Shuri.
"I like it, it compliments you well. But I prefer the purple, it just suits you better." Shuri answered, glancing at Rella and back on the road.
"You talk with my mom lately?" Rella couldn't help but ask, wanting another opinion on the situation. "Not really, why?"
"I don't know, I guess a part of me feels guilty for shutting her out of my life," she said, messing with the seashell bracelet Soul made her. "You shouldn't feel guilty after everything she put you through." Shuri added, turning a corner and Rella noticed that they were close to the secret beach Rella found a month ago. She only told Jessie, Riri and Soul about it so she assumed Jessie must've told Shuri where it was.
"Do you think I'd be stupid if I forgave her?" Rella asked, pulling down her dress that kept riding up her thighs. "I think it'd be a mistake to forgive her for feeling guilty rather than forgiving her for the right reasons," Shuri replied, putting the car in park and turning to look at Aquarella. "And what are the right reasons?"
"You'll have to learn that for yourself. Now, come on." Shuri unlocked the car and they both got out, walking down the hill as the moonlight shone on their skin. "Hold on. Let me take off this stupid fucking feet suffocation things," Aquarella sat down in the sand and untied the red heels before yanking them off her feet and leaving them in the sand to get later. "Now we can continue."
Shuri chuckled at Rella and took her hand, pulling her towards the water. Shuri sat down and Rella followed, both of them looking at the stars. "What was that song called?" Shuri asked, leaning her chin on her knees.
"It's called 'In Pieces'," Rella said, looking more at the moon that hit the ocean waters than the stars. "Is that the only song you wrote about me?" Shuri asked, being quite cocky which annoyed Aquarella to a certain extent.
"Who said it was about you?" Rella shot back, even though she was lying through her teeth.
"If it wasn't about me you wouldn't have sung it whilst looking into my eyes. And you didn't answer my question." Shuri retorted. Rella rolled her eyes, hating how Shuri basically saw through her. "Writing songs is how I express my feelings, so maybe there's a couple in my book about you," she answered honestly.
"So you do have feelings for me?" Shuri turned her head to look at Aquarella who unfortunately didn't wanna look at her. "Even if I did, which I'm not saying I do, I wouldn't want to pursue it. As I've stated before, I don't do love, and I don't do relationships." Aquarella stated, glancing at Shuri and back at the moonlight.
"I'm gonna be honest here. You confuse the fuck out of me! One minute you're singing me a song and being all nice in the car and the next minute you're pushing me away and denying your feelings!" Shuri exclaimed frustratingly, slamming her hand into the sand. "Just make up your fucking mind," Shuri huffed.
Rella blinked, not moved by Shuri's little outburst. "I can't do this right now. This wasn't a good idea." Rella shook her head, standing up and walking to the water. Shuri stood up in confusion, "Where are you going?!" Shuri ran down to the water as Rella was already halfway in.
"Away from here!"
Shuri pulled off her shoes and ran into the water, swimming after Rella. Shuri managed to grab onto Rella's arm, not caring that she was in the middle of transforming. Rella's purple eyes looked into Shuri's, confused on why she chased or rather swam after her. "What?" Rella furrowed her brows.
Shuri let out a heavy breath, glancing down at Rella's lips and compensating what move to make. "Screw it." Shuri hurriedly pressed her lips against Rella's soft ones before she could change her mind. Her hands trailed to the back of Aquarella's neck, mentally smiling as Rella kissed back, it was hesitant but she still did.
Aquarella was the first to pull away, blinking rapidly as she tried to wrap her mind around that kiss. "Why did you do that?"
"Because I love you." Shuri blurted, feeling like her heart was pounding in her chest and it probably was. Aquarella didn't even know what to say, she didn't wanna say what she felt or she feared it would be true. "You don't have to say anything, Rella. Just listen to me, hear me out, please," Shuri begged.
Aquarella's mirrored Shuri's, trying to decide if she could spare a few minutes to listen to Shuri. "Okay. I'll hear you out," Rella finally agreed.
Shuri sighed in relief, but then quickly realized she didn't even know what to say. But she needed to figure it out quickly or Rella would change her mind. "Look, Rella I know you're just trying to protect yourself from heartbreak, and I get that. After all that you've lost I can understand why you're hesitant in getting close to anyone. But Aquarella, I've been in love with you since we were kids, when I was mean and cruel to you that was just my way of making you hate me so I could to come to the realization that we would never work together. And it worked for a while, until that night that you stayed over."
"From the minute you left Wakanda and moved here, I have never felt more alone and empty in my entire life. And I will do anything to make this work out. I want you to at least give us a try. Just please, don't make me wait any longer than I already have. I need you." Tears welled up in Shuri's eyes as she spoke, her hands cupping Aquarella's jaw. Rella obviously didn't know what she could possibly say to that. Part of her wanted to just leave, but the other part wanted to make it work.
Aquarella pressed a small chaste kiss to Shuri's soft lips and pulled away before it could be extended. "I love you too."
Shuri sighed in relief hearing those words spill from Rella's lips. "I think I can make this work, but you have to be patient with me, okay?" Rella ran her thumb down Shuri's cheek gently. "Anything for you," Shuri whispered.
"We should get back before you get sick," Aquarella said, going to transform back into her human form.
"No," Shuri stopped her, "Let's just stay like this for a little longer." Shuri said, getting Rella to agree. "Okay, just for a little bit."
"Did I ever tell you how beautiful you look with your purple eyes?"
"They're not that great."
"Yes they are. But you're beautiful either way."
"I guess it's no longer forbidden, huh?"
