╰┈➤ ❝ [ And now I see daylight, I only see daylight ] ❞
UNFORTUNATELY FOR KIM JI-AN, LEE JOO-HEON had not been lying about the upcoming party. Once she returned home from having dinner at Han Seo-jun's house, Ji-an asked her parents about what Lee Su-ho's father had said and they were more than happy to announce his statement as true. Kim Ji-an was not as thrilled about the party. But as much as she wanted to decline the invite she knew there was not much of a say on her part. This was a huge thing for her parents as this was a big window for them to regain Lee Joo-Heon's sponsorship.
And It didn't seem like luck was on Ji-an's side, because the next day at school Seo-jun told her she had left her headphones at his house and that he hadn't bring them with him because he had woken up late that morning and forgot. Clearly, she had been so busy trying to leave as fast as she could that she forgot to grab her headphones from the living room.
Now, she had to go get it. Just great.
She could only cross her fingers in hopes Mi-Hyang was not home. Don't get her wrong she loved the woman to death, but she couldn't afford another interrogation in the span of less than twenty four hours. If the woman saw her she would insist on making her stay again. Ji-an was supposed to let Seo-jun know when she was coming to retrieve her headphones but the girl had just left from a meeting she had with her new manager and she was close to his house. So she decided to quickly make a pit stop at the Han's household.
When she knocked on the door she was greeted by Go-Woon. The younger girl had unfinished makeup on her face. "Oh, hey Ji-an! Come in!" Go-woon moved to the side to let the girl step in.
Ji-an was even more surprised to see Jug-yeong sitting on the floor. Jug-yeong waved at her showing off her gummy smile. There were make up products all over the table and floor making Go-woon's unfinished make up look make sense.
"Hi, Ji-an!" Jug-yeong greeted standing up from the floor to give her a hug. "I didn't know you would be joining us."
"Oh, no I'm just passing by to grab my headphones. I left them here by accident yesterday." Ji-an cleared up, not having any intention on staying.
Sadly, the two other girls were not having no for an answer. "Oh, come on! You should stay with us." Go-woon pouted and wrapped an arm around Jug-yeong. The latter copied the gesture the two doing their best to show their puppy eyes.
Ji-an let out a sigh knowing she could not say no to that or anything in general. It was hard for her to say no. Call her a people pleaser. "Okay, fine. I'll stay. But give me my headphones before I forget them again."
Go-woon and Jug-yeong let out a squeal. The younger girl skipped to grab the headphones from the table and handed them to Ji-an. Both Go-woon and Ji-an sat on the couch while Jug-yeong went back to her spot on the floor. "I'm doing Go-woon's make up. How do you think it's coming out so far? We started not too long ago so I still have a lot to do."
Ji-an leaned forward and looked to her left to take a look at Go-woon's face. The girl had a nice smooth base and her eyebrows were already more defined with the help of the make up. "It looks really nice so far. I like how you don't over do it but instead bring out her features more."
"Thank you." Jug-yeong smiled.
Kim Ji-an returned the smile and relaxed back in the sofa. Her attention was fully on Jug-yeong as she watched her continue her work on Go-woon. For some reason watching people do something in a quiet and relax environment relaxed her a lot. Unfortunately that did not last very long.
"Okey, dokey! Is that true? Yes!" Ji-an watched with raise eyebrows as Han Seo-jun made his way out of his room, earbuds on, no shirt in sight, blue robe covering most of his frame, and last but not least a pair of cheetah print boxers. A song was playing on Seo-jun's earbuds as he skipped with one leg over to the fridge completely unaware of the three girl's watching him. Ji-an had to put a hand over her mouth to cover the laugh that wanted to come out as she watched him.
"Yes! Okey, dokey." He took a sip of the water bottle he grabbed from the refrigerator before pouring some of it over his head. Finally, he turned around with the robe falling off his shoulder and he froze when he realized he was in fact not alone.
"What- you were home?" Go-woon said, looking at her brother with an expression of irritation. Her tone shifted a little as she conveyed her embarrassment. "Please put on some clothes on when you're home."
Kim Ji-an was still covering her mouth, her eyes and full attention on Seo-jun. Jug-yeong stayed frozen on the floor with her mouth hanging open and make up brush hovering over Go-woon's face.
Seo-jun looked down at his lack of clothing and placed the water bottle on the counter. He looked at the guests, doing his best to stay composed and avoid eye contact. "Hey." He turned and danced his way out of their view. Even though they couldn't see him, they could hear him rushing to his door and closing it behind him. There was yelling from inside his room and Ji-an this time couldn't contain her laughter.
"Hey, I didn't see anything! I really didn't!" Jug-yeong yelled in hopes of reassuring Seo-jun, but Ji-an did not care.
"I did see everything!" The girl yelled making sure Seo-jun will be able to hear her.
Go-woon opened her eyes after regaining her composure. "It serves him right for not listening to me." She was tired of her brother doing the opposite of what she tells him. All she wanted was to have a peaceful afternoon.
Snapping back into reality, Jug-yeong applied some glitter underneath Go-woon's eyes. "My little brother's like that at home too." She paused remembering something. "Wait. He's in your year. Do you know Lim Ju-young?"
"No, he must be in a different class." Go-woon responded after mentally checking her brain for someone with that name.
"He's not worth knowing. Just pretend he doesn't exist." Jug-yeong said with a look of distaste on her face. Despite her words, Ji-an knew Jug-yeong loved her brother. The hint of a smile on her lips was a give away. It saddened Ji-an. She also had a brother but it didn't feel like it.
"I can say the same thing about mine." Ji-an said, pushing away her discomfort. At that moment another scream came from Seo-jun's room making Ji-an quietly chuckle.
Go-woon tapped on Ji-an's leg not wanting to move and ruin what Jug-yeong was doing. "Ji-an could you go check on him? I swear if I hear one more sound from him I'm going to lose it."
Ji-an was so close, so close to letting out an annoyed groan at the request. Why did she had to go check on him? He'll be fine. Nobody told him to go around the house dancing with no shirt on and without checking his surroundings first. Kim Ji-an wanted to decline and stay seated but then she gave it more thought and bothering——making fun of Seo-jun never failed to lift her spirits. So, she agreed and made her way to his room.
She knocked softly on the door and when she didn't hear anything she walked in, knowing that if she gave him the chance to figure out it was her, he will lock her out and not let her come in.
Han Seo-jun who had been sitting on his bed stood up at her presence. "What the heck are you doing here?" The boy asked, giving her a judgmental look. He placed his hands on his hips involuntarily revealing more skin as the material of the rope was pushed back. He has been too busy having a crisis to remember to put something on, meaning he was still wearing his blue robe and cheetah print boxers.
"Your sister asked me to come check on you." Ji-an moved around the room purposely grabbing stuff and observing it. "Don't worry too much. We all go through embarrassing moments."
Seo-jun scoffed and took away the notebook the girl had grabbed, placing it in a higher shelf out of her reach. "What makes you think I'm embarrassed?"
"Anyone with a somewhat decent hearing will know." She responded moving around Seo-jun's frame to take a look at his vanity. His room was pretty much the same way as the last time she had been there, so there was no reason for all her exploring. She just wanted to get on his nerves as she knew how much he hated when people touched his stuff. Ji-an grabbed one of his perfumes and sprayed some of it to take a sniff of the scent. Letting out a sound of approval, she turned to Seo-jun. "You should use this more often. I like it."
Seo-jun rolled his eyes. "Will you stop?"
"Why? Are you hiding something?" Ji-an opened one of his drawers mindlessly looking around. "Scared your girlfriend will find-" suddenly she paused at the sight in front of her, biting her lip to contain her laughter. She grabbed the piece of clothing and turned to face Seo-jun with an amused grin. "You have more than one cheetah print boxer?"
Seo-jun's eyes widened and he launched forward to snatch the item from her hand. But the shorter girl was faster and she moved away. "Aww, are you embarrassed?"
"Kim Ji-an, could you just stop being annoying for one second and give me the damn thing?" Seo-jun asked, following after the girl. He was not about to admit he was actually embarrassed. Although he was sure she could see it, if the way his cheeks were burning was any give away.
"Now, where's the fun in that?" The girl asked as she continued dodging Seo-jun's advances. She was glad she had listened to Go-woon. Seeing Seo-jun's irritated expression was, as predicted, very amusing to watch.
Stopping his attempts on taking the boxer from Ji-an's hand, he pinched the bridge of his nose. "What are you even doing here? I thought I told you to let me know in advance before coming."
"Yes, I know. Believe me, I wasn't even planning on staying, but Go-woon and Jug-yeong kept insisting and you know I don't work well under pressure." The girl admitted hating how hard it was for her to say no. She crossed her arms over her chest with Seo-jun's boxer tightly in hand.
"That still doesn't answer my question."
Ji-an resisted the urge to take a seat on Seo-jun's bed as she stood in front of it. "I forgot how noisy you are."
"Says you." Seo-jun replied making the girl roll her eyes.
"Well, to answer your question I'm back into modeling. The manager wanted to go over some stuff with me and the agency is super close to your house, so I decided to stop on my way back and grab my headphones." She explained.
Seo-jun hummed before sarcastically saying. "That's great so not only I have to see you at school and outside of school but now you also work with the same agency as me."
"Wait, what?" Ji-an asked uncrossing her arms to let them fall to her sides. Taking advantage of the girl's change of demeanor, Seo-jun jumped forward and took the boxer from her hand. What Seo-jun did not anticipate was tripping on the blue slides that were laying right next to Ji-an on the floor. This caused him to fall down on the bed with Ji-an right underneath him.
Kim Ji-an's eyes widened at the sudden position. Her heart was beating loudly in her chest and she could almost hear Seo-jun's heartbeat too with how close he was. His bare chest was right on top of hers, radiating warmth. Ji-an could only stare back at Seo-jun, the two unable to look away. His feline eyes were already captivating to begin with but from up close they might have been the most beautiful thing Ji-an had seen. And the way he was looking at her was not helping either. The girl tried reading his expression, figure out what he was thinking but it was hard to tell. It was always hard to tell with Seo-jun.
Han Seo-jun felt like he was stuck in place. He might as well been having an out of body experience. He had never seen Ji-an from so up close. The night the kiss happened everything had unfolded too quickly for his brain. This was different though. There was no Su-ho. It was just the two of them. Seo-jun had to fight off the smile that wanted to make its way into his face when he took noticed of the pink hue adorning Ji-an's cheeks. He has never seen her like that before——wrong he had seen it before. Difference was this time it was because of him.
Ji-an had not been anticipating this in the slightest when she decided to bother Seo-jun. She was supposed to make him flustered not the other way around. Why was she even blushing in the first place? It was only Han Seo-jun. She was used to being around him, just not like this. This was weird. Specially because he was bare chested and right on top of her. Han Seo-jun was bare chested and on top of her. Yeah, no.
"Can you get off me?" Ji-an asked, with a clear of her throat.
It was Han Seo-jun's time to snap back to reality. He quickly got up from the bed and away from Ji-an to go place the boxer back in its drawer. Ji-an fixed her clothes as she raised to her feet. She tried to think of something—anything to say to save herself from the awkward silence.
"Is it true?" She asked causing Seo-jun to turn around to face her. "I mean, what you said about working in the same agency?"
Seo-jun nodded, "Yeah."
"Oh, okay." Ji-an cringe internally. Really? That was all she had to say. She really needed to get a grip. "Well, I won't annoy you anymore. See you around." Not waiting for a response Ji-an almost sprinted out of the room making sure to close the door on her way out.
Seo-jun took a deep breath once she was gone and ran a hand through his almost dry hair. He was seriously going to lose his mind if this kept on going. Making his way back to his bed, he felt the need to glare at the blue slides on the floor, cause what the heck. Seo-jun wasn't sure whether to put them on a pedestal or burn them down. He threw himself on the bed and let out a loud sigh when he caught a small whiff of Ji-an's perfume that had adhered to his sheets.
As if having her constantly in his mind wasn't enough.
He had two choices. Stay in bed for the rest of the night alone with his thoughts or go and confront Lee Su-ho about having payed the hospital bills of his mother. Who else could have done it? Seo-jun did not know anyone else who would have the money to do that. Ji-an could have done it but her family's financial problems quickly scratched off the idea. So, it must have been Su-ho, and as much as Seo-jun had a feeling it was him, he wanted to hear it from Su-ho himself.
Han Seo-jun did not want Su-ho's money, let alone his pity. Nobody asked him to do that. The thought of someone apart from him, paying his mother's hospital bills irked and discomfort him. As the only man in the house that was his job and priority. If he couldn't do that one thing, then why was he even there for? He couldn't have somebody else——and definitely not Lee Su-ho, doing what he was supposed to do. It angered him, because as much as he tried to have nothing to do with Su-ho, his ex best friend always found a way to be involved his life.
Seo-jun stood up from his bed and dressed up. He grabbed his keys from his night stand and made his way out of his room. To his surprise, a certain someone was not there anymore. "Where's Ji-an?"
"She left a couple of minutes ago." Go-woon said as she helped Jug-yeong put her make up products back into her bag.
"And you let her go alone?" Seo-jun asked, having a weird feeling about the situation.
"I told her to wait for my dad to pick me up so I could take her home but she said no." Jug-yeong explained, confused at the boy's reaction.
Seo-jun turn to his sister, "I'll be out for a while. Let me know when mom gets home." With that he got out of the house. He walked in a fast pace hoping to catch up with Ji-an. He was taking the usual route leading to the closest bus stop but the girl was nowhere to be found. Beginning to worry, he decided to call her. The phone rang for a few seconds and Seo-jun started to wonder if she would even answer but before the voicemail could come in, Ji-an spoke from the other end.
"Han Seo-jun? Why are you calling me?"
"Where are you? I tried catching up to you but you're nowhere to be found. How fast do you walk?" Seo-jun asked, annoyance in his voice as he walked through the streets.
"That's because I'm not walking home. I'm getting something from the store first. Why are you so agitated?"
Seo-jun let out a sigh. That was a good question he didn't have a good answer to. Honestly, why was he so worried? "Just let me know when you get home. Okay?"
"Fine."
Ji-an stared down at her phone with confusion after ending the call. What was up with Seo-jun will always be a mystery to her. She made her way to the closest convenience store in hopes of finding her favorite ramen. Chin-sun told her, her brother had eaten the last remaining ramen from her stash and the girl was currently craving some. She'll honestly have to start hiding her food in her room. No way, she was going to let her brother eat her stuff.
As she walked, suddenly two figures stood in front of her blocking her path. Her eyes widened as a dreading feeling crept into her. Ji-an looked around and saw there was no one else in sight causing her nerves to increase. She turned the other way in hopes of avoiding the unknown men but two more popped out of the shadows making her stumble back. The familiar one walked closer making her slowly back away. "Hi, Kim Ji-an. How have you been?"
It was the same guy that had chased after her and Seo-jun that night. How did he even know her name? "You again?" The girl asked while glaring at the boy. "Look, I don't even know you. Whatever deal you have going on with Han Seo-jun, you can work it out with him."
The boy tilted his head with a disapproving look. "I guess I never really introduced myself. I'm Sung-yong."
"Respectfully, I don't care." Ji-an said and tried to run away from the group but to her luck two more guys blocked her path and pushed her back to where she was standing before. This time she was completely cornered and with no way of getting out.
"As if we'd let you go easily."
