[SEASON SIX: EPISODE TWELVE]
Hawk and Demetri walked up to the entrance of the Miyagi-Do dojo, pushing a cart loaded with VR equipment, hoping to help Robby prepare for his upcoming fight against Axel, the former Sekai Taikai champion, just in a few days. As they approached the doors, they chatted about which colleges they planned to attend after high school.
"After today, we shall forever be known as the Binary Senseis, huh?" He joked, earning a chuckle from his friend.
"So, uh, you hear anything from MIT? Hm?"
"Uh.... Yeah, I did." Eli replied, sounding a little hesitant as he turned around to look back at him.
"I just didn't know how to tell you. It's gonna be a no-go."
"Oh. I'm sorry, Eli."
"It's all good though. I.... I got into Caltech."
"Okay, Caltech, yeah."
"Honestly, it would've been my first choice if you were going there too. But.... I'm still pretty stoked."
"Dude, that's.... That's awesome. But, um, if this is really our last rodeo, I'm.... I'm glad we're going out with a bang."
"What's up, guys?" Robby greeted them, with Ethan standing right next to him as they both walked up to them.
"Hey, there he is. The future champion of the Sekai Taikai."
"Well, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Nobody scored a point on Axel all tournament." He replied.
"Yeah? Well, that's about to change."
"What's with the tech?" Williams asked, gesturing to the box of VR equipment sitting in front of him.
"All this is how Miyagi-Do is gonna win the Sekai Taikai."
They all moved to the backyard of Miyagi-Do, near the sparring desk, where the two brothers changed into their training gi. Eli began attaching the VR gear to Keene, while Demetri set up the computer station near the back corner.
"We call it Fully Integrated Generative Haptic Technology, or FIGHT. It is the most advanced karate training program in the world."
"Okay, what does it do?"
"Put these on, and you'll see." The Mohawk boy said, adjusting the headset behind Robby's ears. As he peered through the lenses, his eyes widened when he glanced at his brother, who suddenly transformed into Axel.
"What's it doing, bro?"
"Whoa."
"What do you see? Is it something awesome?" Ethan asked, grinning as he waved his arms back and forth, dancing playfully in front of him.
"This is trippy."
"We uploaded all the data from Axel's fights to develop a prediction algorithm that can be fed to Ethan's headphones."
"Yeah, so today, Ethan is Axel. With more reps than you'd get at the tournament, this is a good chance to juice your odds."
"Okay, what are my odds now?"
"Well, the program's still in its infancy phase. So...." Hawk trailed off, sounding a bit unsurely. The Miyagi-Do captain pulled the computer screen toward him and frowned when he saw the numbers, only a twelve percent chance of winning the fight.
"I only have a 12% chance of winning?"
"Yeah, but think about it. No one was able to get a point on the guy. And the last person to fight him ended up dead. All things considered, 12% is actually a pretty great place to build from." Demetri explained before padding his hand on the boy's shoulder in reassurance.
"He's not wrong about it, bro."
"And we'd be bummed if you died."
"You guys ready?"
While the Binary Brothers finished setting up the computer on the desk, Ethan and Robby stepped onto the sparring deck, adjusting their headgear before taking their fighting stances.
"All right, we are gonna start you guys off a little slow. It takes a couple of moves to get it dialed in, all right?"
"Ready? Fight."
Williams landed a front roundhouse kick against his opponent, catching his brother off guard. In which, Keene let out a groan as he hit the ground.
"Good start."
"Okay, let's run it again. Ready? Fight!"
They ran it back again, exchanging blocks and blows. It was clear he was struggling to land a hit on the enemy. Demetri glanced at the computer screen and noticed the percentage had dropped significantly.
"Something's off. Robby's odd are dropping faster than a quantum particle in a gravitational field."
"Well, it can't be that bad." Hawk said but when he glanced at the data himself, his eyes widened in shock.
"Oh."
"Yeah."
"Did you over-calibrate the predictive algorithm or something?"
"Are you seriously asking me whether I know how to design an AI-based battle module?" He questioned, his tone dripping with disbelief. His friend just shrugged his shoulders in response.
"Your VR overlay probably has some lag."
"Okay, I'm gonna pretend you didn't say that."
The two brothers finally came to stop, pulling off their headgear and glancing over at the Binary Brothers.
"How am I doing?"
"Uh, the AI's still calibrating, so...."
"Yeah, and we rushed the prototype, so maybe justโ" The tall boy started to say, but was quickly cut off as Robby walked over, moving the computer screen toward him. His eyes narrowed when he saw the percentage had dropped all the way down to just four percent.
"Four percent?"
"The headset's not the problem." He said angrily, setting the headset down on desk before turning and walking away into the Miyagi-Do dojo.
With letting him cool off for a few minutes, Ethan stepped inside, closing the double doors, behind him and watched his brother pacing back and forth, hoping to talk some sense into him.
"Thought I might find you in here."
"Yeah."
"So what's it like training with VR?"
"It's pretty realistic. Probably a little too realistic."
"Look, it's doesn't matter what the computer says. All right? You can beat Axel, bro." Williams said firmly.
"No, I know I'm a good fighter, but clearly, I'm not the best. The numbers prove it."
"So what? Fuck the numbers."
"No, I gave it everything I had last time, Ethan. It didn't make a difference."
"You're gonna give up cause Axel scored a couple of hits and you can't land one? What about our first fight when I beat you, even though I was fighting dirty. But how come you didn't give up then? Because you knew exactly how hard you trained. You weren't gonna give up fighting just because it wasn't easy."
"Okay, so forget all about that computer. Numbers are for pussies. All matters to you is whether you're gonna win or not."
"Of course I do." Robby replied with an understanding nod.
"Then get your ass back out there and prove it to yourself. Training isn't over."
"Wow. It's scary how much you just sounded like dad right now."
"Look we both probably know dad probably failed at math, so it's not really that big of a stretch."
"Okay. Be careful what you wish for." Keene said, fastening the letter back onto his hands.
"If you say so, bro. Game on."
The two of them walked out and stepped onto the sparring desk, getting right back into training. Meanwhile, Eli and Demetri sat near the computer desk on beach chairs, sipping canned drinks as they watched the brothers train together.
"Yeah, there you go, man. Dude, he's up to 42% now. How about I visit Pasadena in the winter, and you come to Cambridge in the spring?"
"Classes at Stanford in the summer."
"All right." He agreed, tapping his own can against Alexopoulos'.
Not even a second later, Ethan and Robby finished their training session, breathing hard but smiling. They shared a fist bump, proud of the work they'd put in.
"Nice one, bro."
"You too."
After convincing Tory to help her train for her match against Zara in the Sekai Taikai, now that the tournament was back on, Sam was more determined than ever. They opened a back door to the old All Valley arena, walking up to the mat with their gym bag slung over their shoulders.
"Breaking and entering. Wouldn't have expected this from Little Miss Goody Two-Shoes."
"If you wanna be the best, you can't be afraid to get your hands dirty. My dad's a former board member, so lifetime privileges."
"Things were a lot different the last time we were here."
"Yeah." The brunette nodded in agreement.
"We pretty much hated each other's guts."
"You'd better still fight like you hate me.... If you've got any shot of taking me down."
"Is that so?"
The two stepped onto the blue man and got into a fighting stance. Nichols struck first with a front kick, which her opponent quickly blocked. They exchanged blows and blocks, moving with speed and precision. Sam attempted a leg sweep but the blonde countered with a quick cartwheel, regaining her balance.
As she landed back on her, the LaRusso girl seized the opportunity, trapping her between her legs and pulling them both to the ground, where she delivered a sharp kick to her enemy's stomach.
"Nice one, LaRusso."
"Thanks."
"Kind of feels right, us being back up here again. Doesn't it?"
"I guess so." She replied with a shrug, as they both sat up from the mat.
"That's why you can't quit. You've come so far. We have come so far."
"Would you give it a rest already? I told you I'm done." Tory said, angrily, getting back on her feet before turning around to face the girl behind her.
"Please, just help me understand."
"Because every time I put on that gi, it destroys everything that matters to me. I get caught up in Kreese's messed-up plans. I ruin my relationships with my friends and Robby. I'm not doing any of that. Ever again."
She walked up to the top row of bleachers, and sat down, giving herself a moment to clear her mind.
"Mind if I sit?" Sam asked calmly. Nichols hesitated for a second before giving a slow nod and she took a seat next to her, keeping a respectful distance.
"It's your arena."
"I'm sorry for pushing. I wasn't appreciating how hard all this is for you."
"I was finally on a good track. Then my mom died, and my whole world blew up. I thought going back to Cobra Kai was my only option. But all it did was ruin every relationship I've ever cared about. I'm lucky Robby and I even talking. If I go back to Cobra Kai, it'll be the thing that ends us for good." The blonde explained, her voice soft but filled of emotion. She hoped the brunette would understand, but she just looked shocked as the other girl turned away in disbelief.
"You wouldn't understand."
"I actually kind of do. Ethan thinks I'm going to UCLA. The truth is, I might be going somewhere a lot further than that."
"Where?" Tory asked, sounding quiet but curious as LaRusso sighed before giving her an answer.
"There's this year-long program in Okinawa. I haven't been accepted yet, so it's not final or anything, but.... I grew up hearing my dad's stories, and Mr. Miyagi was basically my grandfather. I've just always really wanted to go. But I.... Don't know how to tell Ethan."
"Just don't do what I did. Keeping secrets from the people you love will only hurt them worse. When you make your decision, just be honest. You and Ethan will figure it out." She stated, her tone calm and sincere.
"That's good advice. So here's mine. Nobody's gonna think badly of you for finishing this fight. You might not have gone back to Cobra Kai in the right headspace, but.... You're not gonna lose your friends. Or Robby. I can promise you that we have your back.... No matter what logos on it."
"Plus, I was kind of looking forward to seeing how hard you would kick Zara in the face." Sam added with a grin, and the two shared a laugh together.
"Is that like an I'm-back-in-the-tournament laugh, or....?"
Nicholas slowly rose to her feet from the bleachers, glancing at the person next to her, hoping she'd do the same.
"Don't just sit there. Got a fight to train for."
"Yes, Sensei." She chuckled before standing up from her seat, as they walked down to the floor and approached the mat once again.
A few hours later, at the West Valley Hospital, Elizabeth was in a medical room, ready to give birth at any moment after her water just broken. The doctors had settled her in while a nurse checked on her, making sure she was okay and comfortable.
"How are you feeling? Okay?"
Suddenly, Johnny rushed inside the room, still wearing a suit, and hurried to her bed, his face filled with concern as he checked to make sure she was alright.
"I didn't miss it, did I?"
"No, contractions are still about six minutes apart, so you've got a little time. Okay? I'll be back." The nurse said before walking out of the room to grab something from the front desk.
"Thanks, Doc. How are you feeling?" Need another pillow? Let me get an extra. Where's the emergency call button on this?" The blonde man asked, his voice rising as he started to panic.
"Johnny, I'm fine." She replied, slowly exhaling a breath.
"I'm feel so much better now that you're here. Honestly I'm a little scared."
"Yeah?"
"Why are you wearing a suit?"
"Oh. Yeah. I wanted the circumstances to be different, but.... There's no time like the present." He said, taking a knee in front of her bedside.
"Elizabeth. You're the woman of my dreams. You made me a better man. And you've made me a father again. I can't wait to see what a badass mom you're gonna be to our girl. You make me so happy. There's only one thing that'll make me happier." Lawrence said pulling out a small box of his pocket and opening it to reveal a shiny wedding ring. Elizabeth gasped in surprise, her eyes widening at how beautiful it was.
"Elizabeth Jones, will you be my wife?"
"Johnny, you've changed my whole life completely. And I love you. Yes. A million times yes."
He gently slipped the ring onto her finger, and they shared a soft, loving kiss. When they pulled away from each other, both smiling through the overwhelming emotion of the moment.
"Oh, I can't wait to marry you."
"I'm so glad you said that." He said, and then turned to glance at the open door, waiting for the others to come inside.
"Guys, it's on!"
Ethan and Robby entered first, followed by Lois, who was awkwardly carrying a bouquet of flowers. The LaRussos with Chozen right behind them, trailed in after. They all gathered around, Bobby made his way through the group, giving Daniel a friendly pat on his shoulder before heading over to the older couple.
"I know this probably isn't how you imagined your wedding. We can do a big celebration later at Don Cuco's if you want. Right now, I just wanna be your husband."
"Everybody who I love is here in this room with me. Let's do this. Quickly."
The two turned to Brown, nodding their heads in acknowledgment, waiting for him to began his speech.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to celebrate the union of two remarkable people, who will remain best friends no matter what the future brings, who will help one another grow into stronger individuals, who will choose to set their individual differences to forge something beautiful. Because a marriage is about family. The people we surround ourselves with and whom we support each and every day. By choosing to be married, you're committing to this family that you've built for the rest of your days." His eyes landed on Lois and the two teenagers beside her.
"And I can say, without question, it's a badass family."
"So, Johnny.... Do you take Elizabeth to be your wife?"
Johnny turned around to glance down at the woman next to him and nodded, before giving his answer.
"Hell yeah. I do."
"Elizabeth, do you take Johnny to your husband?"
"I do."
"Then by the powers vested in me by the state of California and the city of Burbank, I now pronounce you husband and wife. Johnny Lawrence, you may kiss your bride."
Everyone started clapping in excitement as the married couple shared a kiss. When they pulled away from each other, Elizabeth gasped in shock, after feeling a sudden pain, and placed her hands on her stomach.
"Oh!"
"What? What?"
"Our baby's coming."
"All right, thanks for coming. Time to get the hell out." Lawrence demanded, gesturing for everyone to leave the room so she could deliver the baby in peace.
"Move it. Move your asses!"
Ethan and the others sat patiently in the waiting room, anxiously awaiting any updates on his mother and the baby. He scrolled through TikTok, watching funny cat videos to pass the time. After a moment, the boy looked up and noticed Johnny standing there with a grateful smile on his face.
"Alright. You guys ready to meet her?"
They slowly walked back into the hospital room to find Elizabeth cradling a small baby in her arms. The group grasped in surprise, marveling at how adorable she looked with her newborn.
"Meet baby Laura. She's named after Johnny's mother. And she's wonderful."
The blonde man moved to the bedside, leaned forward, and took a closer look at his daughter, his face lighting up with a joyful smile.
"Welcome to the Valley, Laura. Your brothers and I are gonna bring you home a trophy." He kissed her forehead softly before pulling away and wrapping an arm around both the two teenagers between him.
"Now, we are officially brothers. We got a little sister to look out for, bro."
Keene chuckled at his brother's comment, before nodding in agreement.
"Yeah, we do."
