[SEASON FOUR: EPISODE ONE]
[PART ONE]
"You ready?"
"Let's begin!" Johnny instructed.
Ethan and Sam exchanged puzzled glances as the other kids looked around in confusion, trying to decipher the meaning behind this mysterious statement.
"Uh, begin what exactly?" Demetri asked, raising his hand up. The two grown men exchanged uncertain glances, both clearly unsure of what steps to take next.
"Begin a new era. Many of us used to be enemies, but rivalries don't need to last forever."
"The All Valley Tournament is just a few months away, and this year the stakes are higher than they're ever been. We know that Cobra Kai is gonna use every dirty trick in the book. And there's only one we're gonna be able to beatโ"
"By kicking their asses so hard they shit themselves." Sensei interrupted, cutting him off completely.
"We gotta take things to the next level. Gonna teach you an aggressive stronger than anything Cobra Kai can throw at us. They strike first? We'll pre-strike!"
"Okay, we're getting ahead of ourselves." LaRusso said, before stepping down on the ground next to him.
"We are going to respond to what they do."
"Eagles do not respond. They swoop down and take whatever they want. That's what we're gonna do. Take back the Valley."
"Take it back in a measured and organized approach."
"We bite first!"
Daniel sighed heavily, realizing he couldn't change Johnny, but he held onto the help of helping him see things from a different perspective.
"Okay, let's just warm up with some simple exercises."
"All right, line up!" The blonde man shouted, and the students quickly arranged themselves into two neat rows.
"And just breathe and follow me." Daniel commanded, inhaling deeply as he began to execute his kata.
"Fighting positions!" Sensei exclaimed, prompting his students to assume their respective fighting positions.
"Right leg back. Front kick ready. Hi-yah!"
The Eagle Fangs executed a synchronized front kick, but suddenly Mitch accidentally kicked Nathan in the back, causing him to tumble to the ground.
"Shit, dude. I'm sorry."
"Ready. Fight!" Johnny bellowed before stepping back. Bert launched jab punches at Mitch, who skillfully blocked them. As the boy prepared for a kick, LaRusso intervened, stepping in and separating them.
"Hey, hey. You're just swinging at each other. Don't you teach any defense?"
"Best defense is more offense." The boy said, but unexpectedly got kicked in his side, and got shoved backwards. Causing him to fall back on a big rock that had writing on it.
"Why do you have a rock in the middle of your dojo?"
"Wax on, wax off. It doesn't matter how many times you've done it. You always need to practice your fundamentals." Daniel remarked, strolling around classic cars as his students diligently preformed the Miyagi-Do method.
"That's right, clean it good. Want it to look brand-spanking-new." Sensei ordered, leaning up against his Caravan.
"Get all the can out of there. You find any loose change, it belongs to me."
Johnny took one final swig of his beer before hurling it to the ground, causing it to shatter into pieces.
"Come on, you maggots! Faster!"
The kids maneuvered through an obstacle course as he set up drums with fire in them and initiated spinning on a baseball bat.
"We're gonna get sued here."
"Uh, sue me for what?"
"Oh God. I think I'm about to barf." Chris panted, stumbling around a bit before hastily making his way over to the wooden boat.
"No, no, not the boat!" Daniel yelled, but it was already too late as the boy leaned over the boat, vomiting.
"Fight!"
Hawk and Mitch circled around each other before the boy rush forward, striking him in the stomach. He groaned out in pain and retaliated with punches, engaging in a heated exchange. Eli extended his leg out, but his opponent swiftly evaded, causing his foot to crash through a plastic door.
"Oh shit."
"You see, this is why we don't spar in here."
"All right, who's next?" Johnny asked.
Inside the Cobra Kai dojo, Tory practiced her punches with a punching dummy. Suddenly, memories of her confrontation with Sam at her own house flashed through her head.
Meanwhile, Kyler engaged in a conversation with the other students, discussing his plans after he finished high school.
"Yo, I'm telling you, man, when I get to ASU, honeys be lining up for this snack, know what I mean?" He questioned, and they all laughed. She stopped, making her way over to them.
"Anyways, my dad, he wants me to go to Harvard, but ASU's like the Harvard of the west coast."
"You guys are pathetic. If you'd handled your business, we would have won." She stated, and he turned around to face her.
"Okay, whatever. Hawk, he switched sides." The boy scoffed.
"Yeah, Ethan just got out of a wheelchair and he still kicked your ass."
"You know what? At least I'm still here. Half the squad quit." Kyler exclaimed. Suddenly, the doorbell rang, and Robby stepped inside, earning looks of disbelief from everyone.
"Well, look who showed up."
Ignoring them all, he made his way towards the storeroom, where he was now living or staying at for the moment. Kreese stepped out of his office and stood behind the boy, rolling up his sleeping bag.
"You're late."
"I'm not here for practice." He stated.
"Well, if you wanna be a Cobra Kaiโ" The old man started.
"I never said I was joining. I just needed a place to crash."
"Well, you can crash here as long as you want." Kresse said as Keene stood back on his feet, facing the person in front of him.
"Look, this was a bad idea. I know Cobra Kai helped when I was getting jumped in juvie, but I am not gonna be a pawn in this vet you've made with my dad and Mr. LaRusso."
"I don't think of you as a pawn. I think of you as a king." Senesi retorted.
"Your father had all the talent in the world, but he squandered it. I gave him every opportunity to come back, but he chose Williams and he left you with that mark on your head."
"Trust me, you've got even more talent than your father. You just need to show it to the world."
"After everything, do you think I care about a stupid trophy?" The boy questioned.
"It's not about the trophy. It's about being a champion. Win or lose, that reputation will follow you for the rest of your life." Kreese said.
"Ask your father and LaRusso."
"Yeah, well, they have a good chance of winning now they've teamed up."
"They're not the only ones teaming up." The old man stated before walking away.
Later in the day, Daniel and Sam arrived back home. Suddenly, their alarm started blaring, prompting Amanda to sprint into action with a baseball bat, with her son following closely behind.
"Oh shit." LaRusso said, turning around to press a few buttons and shut off the alarm system.
"I-I'm still getting used to the code."
"This new alarm sucks. You should've sprung for the pen with facial recognition." Anthony stated, and someone's phone started ringing.
"Hi, this is Amanda LaRusso. Sorry, it was a false alarm."
"Uh, password is 'Outlander'."
The married couple went into the kitchen and sat down in the family table, sipping on some wine to relief their stress, while Sam was in the living room on the couch, typing up something on her laptop.
"I'm trapped, Daniel." She stated, as her husband sighed before taking the seat across from her.
"I thought the new security system would make me feel safer, but it's just putting me more on edge."
"Those little Cobra Kai shits ought to be locked up. Especially that Tory psycho. If anyone deserves no mercy, it's her." Amanda said, talking a swig of her wine glass.
"If you want to, honey, we could still go to the police." Daniel pointed out.
"We've already been through this. Sam doesn't need to go through all this again and our....Business can't survive another PR nightmare."
"I know things are less than ideal." He said, placing his hand over hers in a comforting manner.
"A small boy was thrown through our ownย window." She remarked.
"Daniel, if you would have told a year age that our family's safety depended on winning a karate tournament, I would have thought you were joking."
"Here we are. Living in The Twilight Zone."
"Believe me, I want things to go back to the way it was. But, if Johnny and I can just actually work together, also with the help of Ethan, it gives us a very big chance of putting an end to all of us."
"So.... You're saying is Ethan is your only shot at winning the tournament? You do remember that he is still recovering from his injury?" Amanda asked.
"Yes, I do." Daniel agreed, nodding his head.
"But at least on the first day, we didn't kill each other."
"Oh. Well, progress." She complimented, holding up her wine glass as they tapped glasses.
"Do you really think Kresse is gonna shut down Cobra Kai if he loses?"
"Oh, he's gonna lose." He stated, sounding determined to win.
"We got LaRusso 2.0 fighting for us. And once he loses, it won't matter if he welches or not. Everyone in the Valley will see that Cobra Kai doesn't work. Especially Robby."
Johnny decided to invite the Jones family over to his apartment for a somewhat family dinner. He stepped over to the table, sitting a dish down.
"Dinner is served."
"All right, tonight's main course is fajitas and grilled vegetables. I have pico de gallo and corn and flour tortillas."
"Wow. This looks delicious, Johnny." Elizabeth commented.
"Thanks. I got the recipe off the Chili's website. Also, wanted it to be authentic."
"Authentic for who? We're Canadians not Mexican." Lois stated.
"Mama!" Her daughter exclaimed, and she laughed in response.
"Here, try this. Spicy mango. Just like the old country." Johnny said, holding up a jar of salsa. Then he unscrewed it, and poured some onto her plate.
"Thanks."
"So how was the big first day?" She asked, looking around the table.
"Uh, you know, it's the first day. Work in progress." Sensei shrugged.
"I'm really happy you and Daniel are finally working together. I want to make sure Ethan's safe."
"My back's in better shape than ever, I feel amazing." Ethan replied.
"Alright? You don't have to do worry about it."
"She's your mom, she's always gonna worry. But don't worry, I'm watching him." The blonde man reassured her.
"So, Ethan, tell me, how do you like doing karate with your girlfriend? You guys enjoy a lot of one-on-one sparring?"
"Actually.... Me and Sammy, we've spared a lot of times when we were little back then." He answered, his cheeks flushed bright red in embarrassment.
"I'm glad you and Sam are finally together. You two are great together." Elizabeth said, smiling at her son.
"Yeah, well, I'm not the only one who's getting with someone, huh, Sensei?" Williams asked, smirking in his direction.
"He had a date with the love of his life. The one that got away, right?"
"Is that right?"
"It wasn't a date, no." Johnny declined, trying to move on from this conversation.
"He's being modest. We took all of those cool pictures and made you look.... And not to say you didn't look cool already, but he had to look really special for a special young lady."
"Why don't you tell them about the sushi?" Ethan questioned.
"We don't have to talk about it." Sensei stated, shaking his head.
"Okay, I don't know why he's being all shy about it right now. We went a sushi place because Ali likes it or that's what we thought she liked. So we got the dragon roll...."
