Author's POV :

Within half an hour the trio reach the hospital. Aryan is holding Ansh in his arms and Ankita is holding all the documents and reports. They had already booked the appointment online. They directly enters the room which they have told.

It's quite a large room. Many parents were there holding their babies. Doctor and many nurses were present there doing their job.

Aryan POV:

Seeing many unknown faces, Ansh is getting slightly uncomfortable and put his face inside my neck. I pats his back kissing his head time to time.

Ankita handed all the reports to the doctor and ask her to hand the baby to nurse and till that time he will prepare the shot.

By looking at the shot ,Ankita grips one hand of Ansh . I could see the nervousness lurking in her eyes. It will not happen like this.

Ankita ? I call her .

She looks at me with tensely.

'You go and bring the medicine from the store ' she looks at Ansh and then at me.

' I will be with him. Nothing will happen . Trust me . ' I blink my eyes assuring her to go.

She stares at me for few seconds and rush outside.

The nurse takes Ansh from my arm. That's it. His lips starts wobbling and eye scrunches filling with water staring at me.

He does a grabby hands infront of me. I couldn't control anymore and takes him in my arms.

โ€œNo, no, my jaan... shh... Iโ€™m here, donโ€™t cry, Iโ€™m right here,โ€ I whisper, pressing a kiss to his nose, now flushed a deep red.

His cries subside for a moment, but when the nurse reaches out again, the panic rises in him, louder this time, echoing across the room.

โ€œDoctor, please,โ€ I say, my voice tight, โ€œcan he stay in my lap? Heโ€™s too scared.โ€The doctor nods, understanding the plea of a parent.

I pull Ansh tighter against me, rocking him gently, his small frame nestled into my chest.

His sobs quiet as he finds the comfort of my arms, but I know whatโ€™s coming.
The cold rub of alcohol on his skin makes him shift in my lap, and I close my eyes, bracing for the inevitable.

Then it happensโ€”the sharp prick of the needle. His cry is instant, piercing, his little body trembling as he lets out a heart-wrenching wail that vibrates against my chest.

I hold him tighter, my own eyes squeezing shut as I try to absorb his pain, as if my embrace could shield him from the world.

The doctor moves quickly, covering the injection site with cotton, but the damage is done.

Ansh's cry rips through me, filling the room with the raw sound of his discomfort.

'Shh..shh its overย  jaann ...now no more pain...shh bacha...' I whisper sweet words rocking him back and forth.

'You are my brave boy na Jaan? Then why my brave boy is crying so much hmm?' I wipes his eyes with my thumb. He was sobbing clutching my shirt.

Meanwhile Ankita also comes there buying all medicines. Seeing the tear marks on her son's face, her eyes fills up.

"Heโ€™s asleep now," I murmur, gently rocking him.

"He cried a lot, but heโ€™s okay." My voice trails off as I look down at his peaceful face, his little body still trembling slightly in sleep.

Ankita bends down and kisses both his closed eyelids, her lips trembling with the unspoken comfort only a mother can offer.

She strokes his cheek, careful not to wake him as he breathes softly against my chest.

Before we leave the hospital, a nurse approaches and asks me to fill out a form.

With Ansh still resting in my arms, I nod and follow her instructions, but as I shift, my hand accidentally brushes against his thigh.

He stirs in his sleep, his lips quivering with the start of another whimper.

"Iโ€™m so sorry, bachaโ€ฆ Iโ€™m so sorry, my nanhi si jaan," I whisper, caressing his thigh gently where the shot had pricked him.

"Soh ja, bacha," I murmur, pressing a kiss to his head. Slowly, he relaxes again, slipping back into a peaceful slumber.

My attention is fully on Ansh as I balance him in one arm, carefully filling out the form with my free hand.

When the nurse asks me to sign, I do so without much thought, my eyes still focused on the gentle rise and fall of Anshโ€™s tiny chest as he breathes.

โ€œSir, please sign here,โ€ the nurse says, pointing to a particular spot.

Author's POV:

He quickly scribble his name and handed the form to the nurse.

The nurse glances at the form, then at both of them, her smile warm and knowing as she watches the bond between father and son.

"Thank you, sir," she says softly.

Not realising he has mistakenly sign which was meant for Ansh father Aditya -his bhaiya..

Aryan gently place Ansh sleeping form on the bed. Since the hospital he is sleeping due to the injection effect.

'Give me his new pairs .I'll make him wear' I ask Ankita .

She come towards me. Her body posture is telling me that she wants to tell me something.

'Aryan today you have help me a lot with Ansh and I'll be forever grateful to you. Butย  I think you still have time for your office and you should attend it'.

I gets up from the bed not understanding anything what she is trying to tell me.

'Ankita,by any chance if you are not liking my presence or what ?? You can tell me clearly. I will not mind anything ' I ask her truthfully.

I could clearly read the hesitation from her body language.

Her eyes widens listening me and shakes her head repeatedly.

'No Aryan...hell no ..I didn't not mean it like that . Never think like this'

"Then why say something like this?" Aryan presses, confusion clouding his features.

"Since yesterday, Iโ€™ve noticed something is bothering you. You want to say something, but youโ€™re holding back. Just tell me, Ankita. Whatever it is, Iโ€™ll listen. Maybe I can help."

Ankita looks away, then finally speaks, her voice trembling slightly. "I canโ€™t see you suffering like this, Aryan."

"Suffering?" Aryan frowns, his confusion deepening.

"What are you talking about?"

She looks at him, eyes filled with concern.

"I know you love Ansh, and he loves you just as much. But I feel like youโ€™re forgetting about your own life. Your life is just beginning, Aryan, and you have a whole career ahead of you. You canโ€™t keep neglecting your work like this. Last year, you worked so hard to get this jobโ€”"

Aryan opens his mouth to protest, but she cuts him off.

"Please, let me finish," she sighs, gathering her thoughts.

"I donโ€™t want you to compromise your future. It feels likeโ€ฆ like Ansh is becoming a burden on you because of me. I donโ€™t want to pressure you."

Aryan listens to her, his face hardening as she finishes.

When sheโ€™s done, he speaks in a calm but firm voice.

"Are you done, or do you have more to say?"Ankitaโ€™s eyes fill with guilt as she realizes she might have hurt him.

"Iโ€™m sorry, Aryan, if my words upset you."

Shaking his head, Aryan steps closer, gently cupping her face.

"Now listen to me, Ankita. I love Ansh as if he were my own son. I will always love him, and whatever I do for him is out of my own will. As for work, todayโ€™s meeting wasnโ€™t as important as being here. Iโ€™m not compromising anything."

He wipes the tears that have begun to fall from her eyes, his voice softening.

"Donโ€™t ever think that you or Ansh are a burden on me. Youโ€™re not. Is that clear?"Ankita nods, tears still shimmering in her eyes.

They stand there, inches apart, his hand resting on her cheek. Their breaths mingle in the quiet of the room, and for a brief moment, the world narrows to just the two of them, caught in each otherโ€™s space.

Both were staring at each other. They were standing too close to each other with his palm touching her cheek and such that they could feel each other warm breath.

Ankita soon realises it and take a few steps back awkwardly.

She doesn't realise, how they step into each other personal space.

"Iโ€™ll get his clothes," she says awkwardly, her voice flustered as she rushes out of the room.

Aryan, too, pulls his hand away, unsure of what just happened. He doesnโ€™t understand why heโ€™d reached for her, why seeing her tears had stirred something deep within him. All he knows is that in that moment, he couldnโ€™t bear to see her in pain.

Something within him had compelled him to wipe those tears away, a force stronger than reason..
