CHAPTER FOUR:
YOU CAN DO THIS

SCHOOL WAS NOT A TOP priority for Lilianna, well, at least that's what her mother said. But yet, Lilianna would force herself to sit there and learn about history, and write essay's on books she's never read, whilst figuring out who the hell created math and why they made it so complicated. Her head was pounding as she narrowed her eyes at the numbers and letter's scattered throughout the page, a huff falling from her lips as she finally let the pencil fall from her hand and onto the table.

She stood up, walking out of her bedroom and into her brother's room without such much as a knock. She plopped herself down on his bed, whilst he looked up from his laptop at her with a raised eyebrow. He turned his chair to look at her, watching with amusement as she had a silent debate with herself before she huff and sat up, her jaw clenched as she looked at her brother. He leaned back in his chair, arms crossed over his chest as he waited for her to say whatever it was that was on her mind.

"Who the fuck decided that letters were allowed to be in math?" Lilianna snapped. "It's so stupid. How the hell does a/b equal 2,750 or some shit like that? Math is stupid. Who ever likes math, they have something wrong with them."

"I like math." Grayson shrugged his shoulders.

"Exactly. You just proved my point."

Grayson rolled his eyes at his sibling. "No one is forcing you to learn it. So, if you hate it so much, why don't you just stop assigning it to yourself?"

"Because, I want to suffer through high school homework like normal kids do." Lilianna sat up, pressing her back against the headboard of her brother's bed. She sat there, biting on the inside of her cheek as she blankly stared at no spot in particular. She hated being cursed with the fate of being the best of them all. She hated it. And she just wanted to be a normal kid for once, but she knew that she could never admit that out allowed. Her mother would kill her for ever wanting that for herself.

Her mind traveled back to the file her mother had given her. And if she was being honest, she hadn't even attempted to search for the Mikaelson girl. But she knew that her mother would notice then soon, meaning that she would have to drop everything and find the tribrid, not stopping until she was dead. Her jaw clenched without her even realizing it as she thought about killing the Mikaelson, but Grayson noticed. He noticed his sister falling into her thoughts once again, and he knew that her thoughts quickly became dangerous. He softly sighed before standing up from his chair, moving over to sit beside of her, grabbing her hand to bring her from her thoughts.

Lilianna turned her head to look at him, sighing as she saw the familiar worried look cross her face. It was true that Grayson worried about Lilianna a lot. She had this legacy on her shoulders, and the weight was so heavy, he could see it physically and mentally tearing her down. It didn't help that their mother was constantly putting pressure on her, making that weight heavier and heavier as the days passed by. That's why they spent so much time together, because when it was just the two Stark siblings, Grayson would never dare to speak of her legacy, and it was simply a breath of fresh air for the teenager.

"You alright?" Grayson broke the silence, leaning his head against the headboard as he looked at the teenager. He watched her hesitate in her response, and he simply nodded his head in understanding. She wanted to say that she was fine, because she hated it when he worried about her, but the words simply wouldn't leave her lips, and the only thing she could do was look at him in response. Their was a fear behind her eyes, one that was usually hidden by her confidence and infamous smirk that always danced on her lips.

"Talk to me." Grayson met her eyes, and he offered her a gentle smile. "You know that you can talk to me about anything, right?"

"I know." Lilianna whispered, giving his hand a thankful squeeze in response. "I'm just thinking about this mission. About what I'm going to do, how I'm going to find this girl and kill her all in the matter of seconds. I haven't even started searching for her, and if mom found that out, the yelling would be endless. But this is a Mikaelson, one of the most infamous supernatural families. I have to be careful on this."

"I know." Grayson nodded. "Sis, you can't let mom constantly get in your head, alright? You can do this, but do it on your own terms. Don't rush into anything, plan it out if you have to, take all of the time in the world. It's more important that you take your time and not die instead of rushing into this and getting killed the same way dad did."

"Mom doesn't think that." Lilianna frowned, swallowing as she shook her head. "She'd rather I get this done and out of the way, than to know that I survived whilst completing the mission. You saw how she was with dad. She barely shed a tear when she found out he was dead, she simply got angry, and suddenly being a mother was the last thing on her mind, and making sure we were the perfect soldiers was. I wouldn't be surprised if she stopped loving us at this point."

"She does love us." Grayson assured, nodding his head. "Just in her own way."

Lilianna scoffed. "Right. 'Cause every mother that loves her child places a bow in their hands instead of pencil to do their school work."

"Grayson! Lilianna! Come eat!" Their mother's voice echoed down the hallway, and a sigh immediately fell from both of their lips.

"It was nice knowing you, brother." Lilianna muttered before removing herself from the bed and walking out of the room. Grayson watched her leaving with a small frown dancing on his lips before he sighed and forced himself to stand up, not ready to witness the fight that was about to take place between his mother and his sister.
