chapter 8

"THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING." Astra whispered, her eyes never leaving Aro's. She ignored the way Scarlett was staring down the said vampire while occasionally giving Astra curious glances. All the blonde woman could do was stare into the eyes of one of her soulmates. "How is this happening?" Astra whispered again in shock.

A wide grin spread across Aro's face, all signs of shock were completely wiped away as he moved closer to the girls. "You're just as gorgeous as I imagined, if not more." he purred as he reached his hand out to his soulmate. "What's your name?" he asked.

"Woah, woah, woah." Scarlett said as she raised her hand up in the air as if she were asking a teacher for permission to speak. "First off, creep, you need to stop eyeing my girl like she's a piece of meat." The redhead threw her arm around the blondes shoulder for emphasis and narrowed her eyes at the vampire.

Aro couldn't help but glare at the girl who was claiming his mate as hers. He felt a tad bit of disappointment, but mostly he felt anger. He didn't want anyone touching the one person he had been waiting for his whole life. "This doesn't concern you, human." he practically sneered. "I suggest you walk away, find the party and leave us."

Scarlett gave him a weird look at his choice of words, and opened her mouth to say a sarcastic retort, but Astra spoke up before she could say anything.

"I'd actually rather her not leave me alone with you, no offense." Astra silently cursed herself as she spoke. She shouldn't be too brave, the man in front of her could kill her in a blink of an eye. She kept her eyes on his and ignored the outreached hand. She could vaguely remember the Cullens mentioning something about mind reading powers when touched skin to skin. She wasn't sure which of the three had the power, but she didn't want to risk it.

Scarlett snorted, "Like I was actually gonna leave you." She began to turn her around and walk her towards the front door. "We're leaving." she called over her shoulder at the strange man.

Astra glanced back at Aro, and noticed that a dark expression had come over his face. She quickly turned her head back towards the front door and whispered to her friend, "Lettie," she hesitated, "I think you need to leave me here."

Scarlett's eyes shot to hers, a fire burning in them, "I don't think so." her voice was filled with conviction.

"I think it would be wise if you listened to your friend, Lettie." Aro said as he suddenly appeared in front of them.

"What the fu-" Scarlett began, but stopped when Astra pinched her arm.

"No cursing." Astra lightly scolded, she tried to keep a light smile on her face to convince Scarlett to leave her there. She didn't want any of them getting wrapped up in the world of vampires. She knew that the second they left, Aro would most likely be trailing her. She didn't want to risk her brothers and friends lives. That was, if he let her leave. She had a feeling that Aro was two seconds away from ripping Scarlett's head off.

"I don't like him." Scarlett said, ignoring the way Aro narrowed his eyes at her, "He gives me the creeps."

"Everybody gives you the creeps." Astra mused. She glanced at Aro again and tried to ignore the fact that she was already becoming more comfortable in his presence. No, Astra, she thought to herself, We're not going to let fate have her way. We're going to be our own person.

"That's besides the point." Scarlett said, exasperation written on her face.

"Lettie," Astra sighed as she closed her eyes for a moment to regather herself. "I need you to leave. Aro is an old friend of mine, I was just shocked that I was getting to see him again. I'll be back at the hotel later."

"Bullshit." Scarlett deadpanned. She flicked her red hair behind her shoulder and glared at her friend. "But if you're so desperate to be stuck with a serial killer, then be my guest." She removed her hands from Astra and stormed off.

Astra sighed in relief as Scarlett left. She was glad that her best friend wasn't going to become the next meal on the menu. She felt someone come up behind her and lightly trail their fingers up her arm, causing her to instantly tense up. Hot breath fanned across her ear and her body began tingling. "What's your name, mi amore?" Aro questioned as he inhaled her scent.

Astra's heart was racing due to the closeness of the vampire. She couldn't help but fear him and what he could do to her. It was too late when she realized he was touching her skin.

"Astra." The way he said her name was sensual, and it made the blonde girl almost melt on spot. "You don't need to fear me."

"Crap." Astra muttered as she tried to will her body to move away from him. Something about him was drawing her in, and she hated it. "You must be the one who reads minds." she said as she finally pulled away from his touch. She turned around to face him, and gazed into his eyes. Her breath hitched at the look in them, he was looking at her as if she were the only girl in the world.

"I would be angry that you know of the existence of vampires, but from your memories I can see that the Cullens found you before we did." his face scrunched in distaste, "They shouldn't have told you about us."

"On the bright side, that means I'm smart enough to not run." Astra smoothly lied with a fake smile. She was totally gonna try to run.

A small smirk appeared on Aro's face as he reached his hand out to her, "Come with me."

Astra hesitated, she truly wanted nothing more than to turn around and run away from this man, yet she knew it wouldn't be smart. "I'm not going to grab your hand so you can see my thoughts and memories again." she stubbornly replied.

A shadow of hurt passed across Aro's face, and for a moment Astra almost felt bad. "It's okay, I guess I'll have to just earn your trust." he replied as he put his hands behind his back. "Please, come with me."

   Astra nodded, "Okay."

ARO LED ASTRA TO THE THRONE ROOM WHERE HIS TWO BROTHERS WERE SITTING. He couldn't believe the blonde beauty had walked right through the doors of the castle. He always thought that he was going to have to hunt his soulmate down to find him or her. Yet, here she was, standing right next to him.

"You'll have to ignore my brothers attitude." his said, "They tend to not care for the feelings of others and they may try to kill you." he said nonchalantly, "But I'll protect you."

Astra stifled a laugh, "I think I'll be fine."

Aro looked at her for a moment, wishing he could see her thoughts again. That's when it clicked, he had seen in her memory that she was to be the soulmate of all three of him. No wonder she's so confident that she won't die. He pushed the doors open and motioned for her to stay behind him.

"Caius. Marcus." he said as he walked closer to the thrones. "I have somebody I want you to meet."

Marcus seemed to be entranced with something in the air as he was staring with a deep concentration at something the others couldn't see. "Impossible." he muttered lowly.

Caius took in a deep breath and his eyes started to become darker. He could smell something entrancing, something that his inner animal was screaming at him to go find. "It might have to wait, Aro, I have somebody to go find." he said as he began to stand up.

"There's no need for that. The person you want to find is already in the room." Aro said with a smile as he moved to the side to reveal Astra.

Before Astra could blink, she was in the arms of a growling Caius. What the fuck? She thought as she struggled to breathe in his arms. "Dude. I'm human. I need air." she choked out. His arms loosened enough to allow her to breathe, but he didn't move his arms from around her.

"Mine." he growled lowly into her ear.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever." Astra replied, she refused to admit that she felt some sort of satisfaction from the whole ordeal. It was oddly comforting to be in Caius' arms and it caused her to want to stay there forever. But she knew that she couldn't become attached if she was truly going to leave them. Her heart broke at the thought and a sharp pain went through her chest, leaving her gasping for breath.

"What's wrong?" Caius asked, ignoring how Aro and Marcus were suddenly around the pair. The blonde king was too busy rubbing his hand up and down his mates back, desperate to calm her down.

Marcus simply placed a hand on the girls lower back and sighed deeply, "The more you think about such nonsense, the more painful the pain will become."

Astra was confused out of her mind. She started to breathe in Caius' scent and she pushed the thoughts of leaving them away. "What was that?" she asked, her voice a small whisper. She buried her head into Caius' shoulder and sighed. She couldn't believe she was in this situation.

"You were trying to reject us." Marcus said, pain in his voice, "And your soul was protesting."

Astra pulled away from Caius and looked at Marcus. "So I can't reject you without feeling immense pain?" she asked in a small voice. She could feel herself breaking, the room was spinning and she was starting to find it hard to breath again.

Marcus hesitated as he looked into her eyes. He could tell she didn't want to be there, but she was their soulmate and nothing was going to change that. "You can't reject us without dying." He finally said.

Astra's eyes got wide and suddenly everything went dark for her as her body tilted over and began falling towards the ground. Caius instantly grabbed her body before it could fall too far. He lifted her up and carried her to his throne.

Marcus looked at Aro with a thoughtful look on his face. "Who would've thought that we would all three share a mate.." he said lowly. "She's been rejecting the bond the whole time, but since she's met all three of us now, it's going to get worse for her."

Aro ran his fingers through his dark hair and sighed, "I know. I could feel the rejection the second she laid eyes on me. I just wish I knew why she didn't want this."

"It's probably because we're blood sucking monsters." Caius said in amusement. "She's a human. She doesn't understand what we are, and she definitely doesn't understand the concept of soulmates."

"From her memories, I saw that Carlisle Cullen thinks that she's a phoenix." Aro said as he walked towards where Astra's body laid in Caius' lap.

"A phoenix?" Marcus asked in disbelief.

"A phoenix." Aro confirmed as he lightly touched Astra's face.

"That means she's probably got enemies that she doesn't even know about." Caius said, a small growl in the back of his throat threatened to come forward.

"We'll protect her." Marcus assured as he joined his brothers around their soulmate. "No one will touch her." he promised.

AUTHORS NOTE ;
Hey, it's been awhile. Sorry for not updating, I'm kind of losing inspiration for this story. Since we're all in quarantine, I'm going to try to update this story often. This was kind of rushed so it's kind of the worst chapter I've ever done.

What did you think of this chapter?

It's around 2000 words.
