PERSONALITY when you first meet orion,
she seems like probably one of the most apathetic people you've ever met. sarcastic as hell, witty and acutely candid, it's easy to become flustered around her because she's so outspoken. expect profound opinionated responses to everything—it's not that she's striving to upset anyone, ryan just doesn't see the point in lying or simply sidestepping the truth; however, this doesn't mean she's never lied. but if you want a truly honest answer, you'll get it.

down-to-earth and focused on practicality more than imagination, ryan lives in the real world. she is well aware that no success comes without risk, that happy endings are never actually the end. this makes her somewhat of a high intellectual (street smarts as well as brain smarts).

once people get to know orion, they're shocked to see that she is actually very caring and passionate, especially when it comes to the people she cares about. she's habitually defensive and mistrusting towards new people, but once a certain someone has gained her trust and admiration, orion is unyieldingly loyal, and has an inexplicable love for those that have won her devotion.

BRIEF BACKSTORY ryan has definitely not
had it easy over the years. her dad took off and left gravity falls when she was a baby, leaving her in the sole care of her mother, linnea. linnea wasn't a terrible mother, but she wasn't a great one either. she took care of orion and paid the bills on time, but she was cold and distant, never really developing the mother-daughter relationship ryan craved. and orion finally figured out why: she reminded linnea of her absent father too much. heck she looked just like him.

but over the past couple years, linnea's health has been seriously declining. once it got to the point where linnea was so ill that she could barely get out of bed, orion stepped up and took over her mother's shifts at greasy's diner. orion is the sole provider of her family now. she works around the clock and pays the bills. when school was in session, orion rushed back to the diner and worked all night shifts, just to go back to school in the morning.

exhausted and overworked, orion uses drawing as an outlet, and it works most of the time.
