PERSONALITY carrigan used to be a very self-conscious, quiet, and withdrawn individual. she hid her true self from everyone—except her parents (andthatoneranchhand), and even then, she didn't tell them everything. but when she came to shadow hill, carrigan reinvented herself, and stopped caring what people thought. now the only thoughts that truly matter to her are her own. she is no longer humble and meek. she's sharp, sassy, opinionated, and not afraid to shove her Louboutin so far up your ass that you'll taste the leather—should you ridicule her.

more than anything else, carrigan has always been honest, and loyal to an actual fault. and when she came out of her shell, her honesty straight-up turned into brutal honesty—actually, more like borderline tactlessness. she's a no-nonsense person and she speaks what she thinks and gives you her opinion, especially if you don't want to hear it. on occasion, her frankness can hurt people's feelings, and it's not that carrigan wants to make anyone feel bad, but she thinks sometimes that's what it takes in order to tell someone what they need to hear. it's kind of funny, really, just how candid the girl can be. carrigan is one of the most loyal people you could ever meet. she prides herself on her loyalty, and while she may give it to her friends, she expects their loyalty in return.

carrigan's first instinct is to protect herself and hide her emotions. she considers this a strength, even though it's more like a weakness. she's very protective of her private life, and often uses her sassy, witty comebacks to cover up her true feelings. carrigan is normally a very relaxed person, but she can become fiery and defensive quite easily when someone starts to question her past. deep down, carrigan is still that quiet, lovesick girl, who spent all her time drawing and daydreaming—but she doesn't want anyone to see that part of her. she's worked so hard to push that sensitive, scared girl deep, deep down, and doesn't want her to resurface again. to reach that girl, you'd have to endure a lot of scathing remarks and possibly some punches thrown your way, but eventually you might get there.

──you'd think a rich, elegantly dressed, fashion-week obsessed girl like carrigan would hail from new york city, los angeles, or maybe even paris. but no, she's from jackson hole, wyoming: a tourist trap of a town with multi-billion-dollar ski resorts and a surprisingly large number of wealthy families.

BACKGROUND as a descendant of the great 19th century railroad tycoon, collis p. huntington, carrigan has always lived a life of luxury and privilege. she was born in hampton, virginia, but her family moved west when she was two, and settled in jackson hole, wyoming. her father, the ceo of huntington ingalls industries, had to travel a lot for work, but was still involved in her life. however, not as much as her mother was. her mom was a socialite from new york, and is now the co-owner of the most popular ski resort in jackson hole.

life in jackson hole was easy during carrigan's childhood. she was an only child so she enjoyed having all attention centered on her and being spoiled beyond rotten. but she was lonely and too shy to make any friends, so she grew very close with both of her parents and considers them to be her best friends—especially her mom. middle school was a little tough: care was an unusually academically gifted student, which caused others to look down on her out of disapproval and jealousy both. they thought she was weird: a quiet, intelligent, not-terrible-looking girl with loads of money, and an honorable family name that goes back generations. her filthy rich, egotistical, self-obsessed peers couldn't process why a high status person like themselves was so quiet, so different. and they didn't like different. carrigan did have an outlet, though. she took up drawing at a young age, and her skills just increased with time.

high school was when it got bad. the girls would tease her, call her names, knock the books out of her hands in the hallways. the guys would watch and laugh. one guy sat with her at lunch once, and then after he got a thorough talking-to from his friends, he never so much as looked at her again. one night at a party, a guy bumped into carrigan and spilled red punch all over her white dress. the town's mean girls (carrigan's main antagonists) laughed and pointed at her, feigning fear and screaming "carri! carri!" after the character with the same name in stephen king's carrie. pretty soon, the whole party got into it, screaming and jumping away from her, only to point and laugh as she passed them.

for carrigan, that night was the last straw, and she finally decided that enough was enough. she searched up schools far away from jackson hole, and stumbled upon shadow hill. she was intrigued by the idea of an equestrian academy, and had always been slightly jealous of her neighbors—who owned and managed a ranch. so she convinced her mom to convince her dad into letting her attend shadow hill, and was soon enrolled into the next semester. carrigan invested her allowance into new clothes, a new hairstyle—a completely different look. she stripped away her meek and homely exterior, and embraced the girl that she wanted to be—the girl she knew she was.

OTHER
──she's really good at skiing, and it's actually one of her favorite hobbies
──she'll wave it off like it's no big deal and ignore you if you mention it, but the girl is actually wickedly smart. it's one of the reasons she's so quick and witty with her responses. back home, her intelligence is what made her different and what got her picked on; she doesn't want that to happen again, so she hides it.
──desires to become a model, and has done some amateur modeling for a few clothing lines. however, that's not where her ambition ends. she's wants to become a model, then hopefully one day run her own fashion company, and sketch her own clothing designs.
──she's a hell of an artist, and mainly prefers sketching and drawing over painting, but will succumb to oil paint every once in a while. her sketches are very personal and private to her and she hides them in journals, books, and anywhere else. she has some hanging up in her dorm room, but will quickly hide them if someone other than her friends or roommate enters. drawing was one of the few things that carrigan didn't reinvent about herself, and she wants to keep that part of her private.
──used to sketch outlines of the mountains back home, and sometimes drew pictures of her neighbor's horses and their workers—mostly of a certain cute ranch hand that she spent a couple nights with. she thinks about him often.
──she reads vogue books like they're the bible, and would be liable to hit you over the head with it if you were to mock her.

EVENTS carrigan is second best at horse racing, which is her favorite event, and she's training extra hard so she can become the best. lately she's been trying out show jumping as well, and is pretty good at it.

CLOTHING STYLE carrigan wears designer and designer only. miss her with that cheap, faux shit. her style normally consists of blazers, plaid dresses, skirts, turtle necks, button down shirts, and boots—leather, chanel or prada is preferred. she's an avid fan of tweed and she has no idea why, but it looks good on her and that's all that really matters. most outfits she wears will be a matching set; she can't stand when things don't match, it irritates her. normally, carrigan sticks with shorts and skirts, and she's rarely seen in pants—except when she's riding, of course. if it's cold out though, chances are carrigan will still wear a skirt or shorts and just wear thigh-high leggings.
