PERSONALITY blythe rydinger is truly a kind soul, and seeks harmony with everyone and everything above all else, so most of the time she avoids confrontation and arguments (unless she's feeling argumentative that day). but harm the people she cares about and she will physically fight you.

soft, humble, and loyal to an incredible fault, blythe wears her heart on her sleeve. she cares about people more than she actually wants to. when it comes to the people she cares about, she's willing to do anything for them. blythe will get into difficult and complicated situations just due to the fact that she spared someone's feelings, catered to someone else's beliefs, or she was too afraid to tell someone "no" for once. the only people who really see bly's aggressive side are her family—more specifically, her disaster of a brother.

she is an introvert by nature, but this doesn't mean she's antisocial. the girl is just shy and reserved, but once she starts talking, it's hard to get her to stop. she doesn't fit in with the usual "popular" crowd, and the truth is that she doesn't want to. blythe is at peace with her social status and she doesn't need validation from anyone—except herself. the girl is lacking in self-confidence, and has no sense of true identity. she feels lost and alone, and that people don't understand her, when in reality, blythe is so guarded with her inner emotions that she doesn't actually let people understand her fully.

for the most part, she's mature and reliable. she has to be in order to take care of her younger siblings, namely her baby sister. she's very protective of her family and often looks out for them above anything or anyone else, including herself. if you really want to piss her off, don't take shots at her (because she could care less), but at her family. and then you're in trouble.

blythe is sensitive and she loves way too easily. she craves a intimate bond like no other, and wants someone to understand her as much as she understands them. her feelings can get hurt because of this, which can make her all of a sudden defensive and hostile. she's stubborn, and doesn't like to be vulnerable in front of people, and will often glaze over her own feelings in order to ignore talking about them.

deep down, she's a romantic at heart. she's in love with people, places—and she's even in love with the simple idea of love. blythe's an idealist, and is normally optimistic in most situations. kindness and loyalty is what she values above all else.

BACKSTORY growing up as the oldest sibling in her family, blythe was always the responsible one, always the mature one. she was bossy, always giving her younger brother heck and telling him what to do—lovingly, of course.

living just minutes away from the maine coast, blythe developed an intense love for the sea at a very young age, and feels as if the blue waves are a part of her. so she decided to take up surfing, and she's stuck with it ever since.

a few years ago after her baby sister was born, blythe's father left, leaving her mother to take care of three children by herself. blythe assumes that the pressure of another child, eight to ten years difference compared to the older rydinger siblings, was just too much for him, and he dipped. blythe holds a grudge against him for what he did, but knows that if he ever came back, she'd forgive him in a heartbeat—and that bothers her. blythe misses him a lot.

her mother works late nights to keep food on the table and the power on, so blythe often helps out and makes dinner, helps her baby sister with her homework and tucks her in at night.
