Arabella was accustomed to Noah's habit of making up for arguments with gifts and extravagant dinners, so when he mentioned a surprise, she remained unfazed.

But as usual, she selected an appropriate outfit and took care of her appearance, knowing what Noah's preferences were. She sat on the plush couch, her leg bouncing with anticipation as she waited for Noah.

"Where are you off to?" Madelyn asked as she stepped out of the kitchen, a box of cereal in her hand. With Ivy doing a shoot in Durham and Madison visiting her girlfriend's family in Goose Creek, that left only Madelyn and Arabella at home.

"Noah said he had a surprise for me, I'm waiting for him."

Madelyn pursed her lips and nodded slowly. "You guys had a fight?"

Arabella's head immediately shot up and her leg stopped bouncing. "How did you know that?"

"Belle," Madelyn chuckled softly. "He only takes you on surprises when he did something wrong. He never truly apologizes."

"He did apologize." Arabella's response was sharp, her tone defensive, as if trying to convince herself as much as Madelyn.

"His half-ass apology doesn't count, half of the time you end up apologizing," Madelyn retorted, mirroring Arabella's defensive tone.

"You've always had a problem with Noah." Arabella spoke. "I don't understand why you can't get along with him."

"Hmm," Madelyn pretended to think for a moment, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "I don't know, maybe because he's a bitch?"

"You're the one being a total bitch, if anything." Arabella muttered under her breath, her words barely audible, intended only for her own ears.

"What did you just call me?" Madelyn spoke sharply as her arms were crossed and eyebrows were  furrowed.

Arabella's head tilted slightly as she raised her eyebrows in a taunting manner. "Hm?"

"Well you're the bitch," Madelyn sassed, her head tilting to the side as she shot a challenging look. "Ha! There, I called you one first."

"Um, no you didn't, I did," Arabella retorted, rising to her feet.

"No I did."

"Nice try, I did." Arabella scoffed.

"Well, I said it out loud, so technically I said it first," Madelyn smirked tauntingly.

"What? That makes no sense at all! I clearly called you one first," Arabella exclaimed, flailing her arms in disbelief.

"Well, too bad, I didn't hear it," Madelyn countered, her tone matching Arabella's, her face clearly displaying anger. Her jaw was set, eyes narrowing as she stared at Arabella.

"Well, maybe you can hear this better," Arabella paused for a moment, letting the tension build before she spoke again. "Bitch."

Madelyn looked taken aback for a moment before she spoke as well. "Cunt."

"Skank." Arabella fired back.

"Whore." Madelyn shot out.

"You're unbelievable.." Arabella exclaimed, frustration evident in her voice. But all Madelyn did was give her a disbelieving look and mutter a sarcastic "Sure."

"Whatever, I know you know I called you one first," Arabella retorted, rolling her eyes in exasperation. She walked around the table, pointedly ignoring Madelyn's raised middle fingers. "Where's Lola?"

"You're taking Lola as well? God I'm praying for her."

Arabella didn't respond; instead, she turned back and gave Madelyn a mocking look, mimicking her expression.

As Arabella picked up Lola's collar, her phone buzzed with a text from Noah saying he had arrived. She quickly wrapped the collar around Lola's neck and led her to the front door.

"I'm going to be late. Don't wait for me." Arabella spoke as she put on her shoes.

"Wasn't going to," Madelyn sang, as she settled onto the couch and turned on the TV.

Arabella huffed in frustration before swinging open the front door to leave. Just as she was about to step out, she heard Madelyn yell from behind her, "I said it first!"

"You guys got into a fight?" Noah asked, popping a fry into his mouth. "What about?"

Currently, the two of them were sitting on the beach. Noah planned a date in the beach which consisted of a picnic blanket that laid on the sand with Italian food that Noah ordered. It was Noah's type of apology.

Lola also enjoyed the dinner as well, occasionally snatching a fry out of the box and then darting around the beach.

"I don't even know," Arabella groaned in frustration as she threw her head back. "I just... I hate her."

"Same."

Arabella's head jolted up, her expression one of disbelief and disgust. "You can't say that."

"What?" Noah chuckled, popping another fry into his mouth, seemingly unfazed by Arabella's reaction.

"You can't make fun of her," Arabella stated firmly, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. Madelyn was Arabella's best friend; only she had the right to openly make fun her.

"But you can?" Noah countered.

"Yeah," Arabella spoke in a duh tone "Because she's my best friend..."

"You make no sense," Noah sighed, shaking his head in confusion. "You're her best friend, but you can still hate her?"

Arabella opened her mouth to respond, but before she could say anything, Lola suddenly bolted away from their spot on the beach.

"Lola!" Arabella yelled in annoyance, trying to get the dog's attention, but Lola wasn't turning back. Arabella quickly got up and started jogging after her, her focus solely on catching up to Lola.

Noah trailed after Arabella, not bothering to run.

All of a sudden, Lola bolted towards someone, her tail wagging furiously as she jumped and licked them. Arabella looked up, her eyes widening in surprise at the person Lola was currently playing with.

"Drew?"

Drew, who was crouched down, petting and playing with Lola, looked up, amusement written all over his face. "Arabella, hey," he greeted, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips.

Arabella glanced over to where Drew had come from and noticed Rudy and Jonathan slowly backing up, making their way back to the car.

"I guess she still remembers you," Arabella laughed, noticing how Lola kept snuggling into Drew, clearly happy to see him.

"Guess so," Drew shrugged, standing up. "God, I haven't seen her in like forever. I remember when you first got her. She was a baby."

Arabella smiled, "I know and—"

"Drew," Noah's voice cut Arabella off. Arabella took a deep breath, sensing that this moment could end up going one of two ways.

Drew turned towards the source of the interruption and didn't bother to smile nor greet him.

Arabella, eager to end the awkwardness, turned to Noah, attempting to strike up a conversation. "Noah, isn't it crazy how Lola still remembers—"

"Nice to see you again, man, but Belle and I were clearly in the middle of something," Noah spoke to Drew, his tone taunting.

"So were we," Drew laughed, but there was no humor in it.

Arabella's eyes quickly widened, and she was pretty sure Noah's eyes widened as well. Neither of them had expected Drew to respond like that.

"We were doing something before you came," Noah quipped, and at this point, it didn't even seem like he were talking about the date.

"What do you mean, I came?" Drew scoffed, furrowing his eyebrows in disbelief.

Arabella smiled awkwardly at the pair, who were practically on the verge of punching each other. She silently cursed JD and Rudy, who were watching from afar with frozen yogurt bowls in their hands. "Well, it was nice seeing you again, Drew. But I think Noah and I should get back to what we were doing."

Drew pursed his lips together, his gaze still locked on Noah, before finally nodding his head. "Talk to you later, Ara," he scoffed, notably irritated.

Arabella managed a slight smile at Drew before she heard hurried footsteps in the other direction. She turned to see Noah quickly stomping away, clearly frustrated. Arabella groaned inwardly, feeling caught in the middle, but she gathered Lola's leash and hurried to catch up with Noah.

"Where are you going?" Arabella asked, noticing that Noah wasn't heading back to their picnic spot but instead was heading towards his car.

"I'm sick of this shit!" Noah exclaimed, causing Arabella to take a step back in shock. "You were clearly flirting with him while I was right there. This date was supposed to be both of us fixing things, but you ruined it."

"What do you mean?" Arabella replied, her voice shaky. "I wasn't flirting with him." She took a tentative step forward, trying to reach out to Noah, but he pulled his arm away.

Noah scoffed, "Yes, you were, and if you think you weren't, then you might want to get your head checked because it's clearly empty in there."

"Noah, I swear I wasn't—"

"You know what?" Noah's voice was dangerously low. "I'm done. Find your own ride home," he said before getting into his car. Leaving Arabella standing there, stunned and hurt.

Arabella didn't try to argue back as she watched his car pull out of the empty parking lot. She didn't try to hold back the tears that were now streaming down her face.

She sat on the curb, feeling lost, and pulled out her phone. With tear-blurred vision, she dialed the only number she knew by heart.

"Maddie," Arabella sniffed back the tears, her voice cracking. "Can you pick me up?"
