๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐.
I was by no means a heavy sleeper, I used to think the smallest of noise could wake me up. But three very loud bands and the shout of my name is what fired me up from my sleep, eyes jumping open to the ceiling of my room.
"(Y/N)!" The voice I've become familiar with sent me into a full stage of panic.
I shot upright on the bed like they do in the movies, my portfolio laid sprawled out onto my bed all around me and the static from the tv was still on. I look at the clock that reads 5:10am.
I run to the door and open it up, my hands shaking. I met eyes with Ares standing there with her braids wrapped up into a messy bun, a pink drink in her left hand and the clipboard in the other, and a look of purge rage on her face.
"Did you die in your sleep and let your phone die along with you!"
"I'm so sorry IโI could've sworn I had my phone plugged in. I'll be ready in five minutes." I said in maximum stress, lightheaded from jumping to my feet so fast and having no hydration in my body since last night.
"Everyone is waiting for you, we need to get on the bus. We have a change of plans for the schedule." She shouts again, my heart racing.
I prayed no one came into the apartment last night to sleep or else they would hear my scolding.
"Okay, yes! I'm sorry!" I quickly shut the door in her face before gasping, opening it back up to her dramatically shutting her eyes before opening them back up and turning on a heel to head out the front door,
I shut the door once more and sprint around the room to collect the items I'll need, scooping the portfolio into the large bag it's designed to be carried in. I rushed into the bathroom to start brushing my teeth and washing my face. If there is one thing about me, I refuse to go anywhere without doing these two tasks. I toss on deodorant and grab my pink crop top that has cherries on the chest, throw my pyjama shorts off to replace them with fitted sweatpants and my Nike dunks. I didn't finish Hobie's outfit that would be needed and I only prayed that wherever we were going for a sudden change could give me some time to whip up something fast.
During all of this, toothpaste was nearly foaming out of my mouth and I only had a split second reaction time to rush back to the bathroom to spit it out real quick. I continued to brush while smoothing out my hair and then wrapping it up in a loose ponytail. I was glad Sydni told me to pack an emergency bag for situations like this. The one time her obsessive nature of watching romance movies paid off.
I wanted to blame myself, not liking how my first morning was going, but then I remembered I didn't even get told a time to be up.
I finish collecting all of my things with one hand, running back to the sink to spit out the remaining bit of toothpaste again. I quickly rinse my mouth out and tap my toothbrush on the side of the sink to get rid of the wetness before tossing it into my beauty bag.
I throw my bag over my shoulder, tuck away my glasses in the small pocket of it and grab my bag before rushing out the door of my room and directly outside to be faced with two large tour buses right in front of the sidewalk.
"Let's go!" Ares ordered as she hangs out the doors of the second bus while pointing to the one behind hers, disappearing inside. Wasn't this bad supposed to be low maintenance?
I hopped on and met the driver who was there impatiently waiting.
"Ah, so you must be the girl we have all been waiting on." He said.
"Yeah, though I wasn't told what time I needed to be up." I snipped back, already flustered enough by my actions.
He shut the door behind me instead of responding, turning to look out the front of the window and honking twice. I looked in front of us to see where he was honking at, as the first bus was starting to move.
"Find a seat or a rack, we are on a tight schedule." The driver said once more.
"Yeah, yeah.." I mumbled, hoisting up my two bags before walking further down the bus. Clicking on a glowing button that opened the door to the dimly lit bunks, I walked through and shut the door behind me while standing in the hallway between all the beds that had some curtains covering them.
I was in no mood to sleep again, but I was curious if this bus was for the staff and the bus in front of us held the band since Ares was there with Ciera.
I tiptoe down the narrow hall between the beds, getting to another door at the end with the same glowing button on the right hand side as before. I reach up and click it, causing the door to fly open at a tremendous speed. I prayed whoever or whatever on the other side were groups of people that worked in the shadows of Spider-Band.
Noise suddenly filled my ears the minute the door opened, catching me completely off guard. I stood in front of an actual lounge area, four bodies filling the room.
The first eyes I met were Opium's, manspread on the couch with a set of cards in front of him.
Please god, let this be a dream.
I then looked at everyone else and was quick to understand this wasn't the team bus, this was the band busโCrass, Rico and Ozzy were in different areas of the lounge area.
Fuck.
In reflex I gasped and slammed my open palm hand on the button again, shutting the door so I was standing in the quiet dark bunk area.
I couldn't move, my feet glued to the floor like a punishment.
The sound of the door opening once more had me move only my eyes to stare up at Opium's an amused look on his face, the air conditioning hitting my eyes as they rapidly blinked.
"Got something in your eye, doll?" He questions, moving to the side to let me in but I couldn't move, at least not until he reached behind me to place his hand on the top center of my back to push me inside and shut the door behind me, moving back to the couch to swat at Crass's fingers to stop him from peeking at his cards. Their chatter died down now that I was fully in the room.
Ozzy was lounged back with his legs crossed, arms stretched on the back of the couch. Crass sat criss crossed on the floor with his legs propped up on the seat in front of him to be closer to Opium to play their game. Rico was on her phone, not even looking up but I could see her lips twitch like she was about to say something.
And I was right.
"You are on the wrong bus, strawberry shortcake." Rico broke the silence grinning a bit.
"I knowโ I was directed to come here andโ"
"Now you are stuck with us." Crass finished the sentence, chuckling.
"Yeah..." I tuck my hair behind my ear, staying in my place by the door.
"No worries, there's enough room for you." Opium shuffles over a bit to give me a spot to sit next to him while he shuffles his cards in hands. The giant c-shaped couch was big enough to fit everyone, but I didn't question why Crass preferred to sit on the floor.
"Are you sure? I don't want to be a bother..."
"Where exactly else could you go then?" Opium asked.
I nod my head slowly as I acknowledge that. I guess he was right.
I exhale under my breath and play with the loose strings on my bag, taking a pause before slowly walking over and sitting down next to Opium with my elbow resting on the arm rest.
Opium puts one of his arms behind my shoulders on the couch, my bag resting between my legs on the floor while I pull out the portfolio to rest on my lap.
I glanced at Ozzy who was scrunched back with his hood up, eyes closed and arms crossed over his chest. He looked very tired when I came in, his spikey white hair was wetted down and the ends were dyed a small bit of black. I glanced at Rico who was completely slouched back, the souls of her shoes extended out on the floor and the back of her neck was on the back of the couch. Her phone was resting on her stomach while she scrolled through it, dead silent with dark circles under her eyes.
My heart was pounding in my chest as I didn't notice the one person who I dread seeing everytime I step foot out in public.
"Don't worry, Hobie is knocked out in his bed." Opium asked me to my right, finally finishing his game as Crass crawled up onto the couch to sleep. My arm was now pressed against his side, meaning he got closer to me when I was preoccupied trying to figure out everything. "He said he hasn't been getting any sleep lately so he put on his noise canceling headphones and is in a deep sleep."
"Weird.."
"What is this?" He swipes the portfolio out from my hands and holds it out in front of him, taking a good look at what it was I was doing. He smelled really good.
"It is everyone's outfits, I didn't have time to finish Hobie's but I got everyone else's outfits done." I explained, pointing off each little sketch of what I think they would look the best in today. "I already ordered the outfits and they'll be at whatever destination we go to."
"Ares gave you a time limit, huh?"
"Yeah, I am worried I'll make even more of a fool of myself if I don't get Hobie's right."
"Don't worry about him, every stylist we had that tried to get him to wear something they put together he declined. Like I said before, he hates consistency and going by other people's work."
"I should probably have one on standby just in case." I laugh.
"Why? You're wasting your time and money. If anything, Ares won't get mad at you if Ozzy swoons her over like always." Crass adds on with his back to us.
"Very true." Opium agrees with him, looking over at e.
"Hmm." I looked down at the designs, knowing how much more I needed to get down.
Opium exhales a chuckle under his breath, he seemed easier to talk to out of all of them. Crass seemed a bit chatty, so did Ozzy, Rico not too much.
But the girl looked very tired, I don't blame her for being quiet.
"How long are we trapped on this bus for?" Crass asks Opium.
"Few hours at least." Opium shrugs.
"For fuck sakes." He rubs his eyes. "I'm going to bed." He shakes his head, standing up while plowing through Rico and Ozzy's legs to make them sit forward from the force.
"Take sleep beauty with you, he's dead asleep and I want the couch for myself." Opium directs his attention to Ozzy who was sleeping.
"I'm awake you fuck." Ozzy said with his eyes still shut.
"Well I'm going to bed, maybe Hobie will share his headphones with me." Crass teased while rubbing his cheeks, walking towards the door. "Wake me up gently when we're there."
Ozzy stands up and heads to the door too, following Crass to go to bed. He was quiet, but then again so am I when I get asked a shit load of questions. I watch the two leave the room, going to the bunks while the three of us stay behind.
"You better make sure our outfits are ready to be presented to Ares." Opium looks back at the board. "She will come for them at our first stop."
My stomach clenched, knowing I was supposed to show these to her first thing in the morning. This day will already be so much worse, I was slowing everything down.
"Which will be when?"
"In ten minutes." He shrugs.
I shoot forward and dive into my creative mind to piece everything together, grabbing my ipad from my emergency bag and saving all eight designs to show Ares.
Opium laughs at my reaction.
In my peripheral vision I see Opium and Rico start getting up, my stomach starting to turn because it felt like they were throwing me to the wolves. I watched at the corner of my eye as they stood up and communicated in silence, walking to the door and leaving.
Just as I thought everything was going to go smoothly, the door opens up again and in comes Ares who was puzzled to see me here before looking down at the ipad, her hand extended out to see.
"Why are you on the wrong bus?" She holds the ipad up to her face.
"I was in a hurry."
"Where is Hobie's?"
I look down to my board and pale, I didn't think when Opium said he would get Ozzy to swoon her it would be when he was here, not alone.
"Never mind that, I doubt he would wear anything anyway. Did you get them delivered?"
That I did right, they were being sent to wherever we were at.
"Yes."
"You are sure?"
I stood to lean over the ipad to press on another tab to show the tracking page, watching as the clothing was only two hours away from our final destination. "Yes."
"Good, now get on your bus."
I rush past Ares and go to the door, getting out of there as quick as I can.
