Ava Duncan, the daughter of Klaus and Diana Duncan, was everything a well brought up girl should be, given the fact her father was an immigrant from England, but that didn't stop her from being down-to-earth, friendly, and kind.

Growing up, Ava was a happy child, who had a deep passion for books, especially in the foreign languages, something she inherited from her mother.

Ava and her parents relocated to California, seeking better job prospects and closer proximity to Diana's siblings, Freya and Elijah Gray, since Diana was originally from the United States.

Upon her arrival, she met a boy her age, Bobby Brown, who soon became her best friend, and stuck by her side through thick and thin. Always being each other's shadows, always giving each other good advice.

That is until, their ninth grade year, when Bobby joined a karate dojo, Cobra Kai, and made four new best friends in the process, acting as if he were better than everyone and even treating Ava like crap.

Bobby completely abandoned her, left her alone, and through his new friends became the most popular boy in school, the one everyone, even Ava feared.

Ava soon became best friends with a girl named Ali Mills, and the two were joined at the hip. You never saw one without the other. When Ali started dating Bobby's best friend johnny, Ava of course still spent time with Ali, but avoided the Cobra Kais at all costs.

In the midst of it all, in 1984, Klaus and Diana were killed in a horrific car crash, leaving Ava to feel completely and utterly alone and devastated. One fateful summer night, Ava and Bobby are reunited at a beach party, and everything changed.

Bobby Brown is a handsome and wealthy karate student at the notorious cobra kai dojo in the valley. However, he's second best to his best friend, johnny lawrence. Even though he's successful in karate, he still thinks about his beautiful former best friend, Ava.

One fateful night, he and his best friends attend the end of summer party, where he is reunited with the beautiful girl he abandoned so long ago. She appeared shattered, yet she still possessed her passionate spirit that left him breathless, and he fell deeply in love with her.
