Chapter 12. Valley Fest

══════ஓ๑❀*̥๑ஓ══════

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐎𝐅𝐓 𝐓𝐔𝐍𝐄 of Elton John's Your Song played as Brooke sat at her office, diligently working on the bi-weekly payroll. After taking a sip of her cherry water, a knock resonated on the door. "It's open!" she called out

Landon walked in with a coffee cup in his hand and closed the door behind him. "Hey, I thought you could use a little pick-me-up."

Brooke turned around in her chair, smiling at her boyfriend. Standing up from the comfort of her chair, she walked over to embrace him and pecked his lips. "You're a lifesaver. Thank you," she said, graciously accepting the coffee and taking a sip. "So, how was your morning?"

The couple walked to the corner of Brooke's office, took a seat on the couch, and Landon said, "It's been slow. How about yours?" while sipping his coffee.

Brooke sipped her coffee before she answered, "Aside from the constant ringing of the phones, it's been slow." she said, then set her coffee cup on the table beside the couch before she continued. "By the way, Valley Fest is tonight, I'm meeting the girls and my brother there. You want to come along?"

"You sure I wouldn't be intruding?" Landon asked as he caressed her knuckles with his thumbs

Brooke shook her head no. "Besides, I want you to come. We go every year."

"All right then, I'll be there." Landon smiled

"Good." Brooke smiled as she wrapped her arms around his neck, then pecked his lips

"I love you." Landon said

"I love you too." Brooke smiled

Landon parked his Mustang as Mötley Crüe's Dr. Feelgood played, and Brooke placed her sunglasses atop her head as he turned off the ignition. They stepped out of the Mustang, hand-in-hand, and joined the crowd. There, they found Whitney, Kaitlin, Farrah, and Mason.

"Hey guys!" Brooke smiled as she embraced her brother and cousins

"There you are, we were wondering what took you both so long." Whitney smiled as she embraced her cousin and Landon

"Hey sis." Mason said as he embraced his sister, then greeted Landon

"So this is Valley Fest?" Landon smiled as the group walked around the fair grounds

"You better believe it." Farrah said as she sipped her lemonade. "We love Valley fest."

"We used to come every year." Brooke smiled as Landon paid for her cherry coke and his regular coke

As the day progressed, the group played different games and rides. Missie eventually arrived with her sisters in-law and Beth, and her boyfriend Randall. The sun had set and the sky was now an inky black. Bright white lights lit up the stage in the center while a blonde guy with a guitar played for the crowd.

"Coming up next, do I have a treat for you. Please direct your attention to the LaRusso Auto booth for a presentation from Miyagi-Do Karate." The woman on stage announced pointing to the booth

The lights dimmed, and the only light that could be seen was that of the light coming from the booth. The silhouettes of Robby, Sam, and Daniel were the only things you could see against the orange light that was projected onto the Miyagi Do symbol. The three bowed to the crowd before they got into their stances.

Amanda ran behind the booth and grabbed a staff, quickly giving it to Daniel, before returning back to her friends and her nieces and nephew. Slow drums started playing as Daniel twirled the staff, then Sam and Robby moved around him while punching the air, then turned to Daniel.

As Daniel tried to strike Sam with the staff, she brought her arm up, and blocked it. Then he swung at Robby, who flipped over it and the crowd gasped in amazement, then applauded. Sam, Daniel and Robby bowed again.

"Now time for the grand finale." Daniel said to the crowd.

Daniel ran behind the booth and grabbed the handle of a wooden stand and pushed it on the stage. It had blocks of ice in it. As they were reaching the center of the stage, the power went out.

"What the hell?" Mason said

"Cobra Kai!" Miguel shouted,

"Cobra Kai! Cobra Kai! Cobra Kai! Cobra Kai! Cobra Kai! Cobra Kai! Cobra Kai! Cobra Kai!" The students chanted

The crowd cheered crazily and followed the group, apart from Brooke and her family. "What the hell is going on?" Whitney asked

"I don't know." Missie said, glancing up at the stage where Johnny stood

"What the hell is going on here?" Daniel asked on the stage

The group saw a banner with a logo drop behind the Cobra Kais as they got into their fighting positions. They all yelled as they demonstrated different moves, such as punches and kicks.

Red lights and sparklers were added. Brooke and Jesse shared a look and glanced at their mother, who had her arms folded over her chest, and was shaking her head in annoyance.

"Cobras, show them what real karate looks like!" Johnny instructed from the side of the stage.

The Cobras began sparring throwing kicks and punches, flipping each other over, until Miguel was the last one standing, and the crowd went wild.

Hawk grabbed Demetri and pulled him on to the stage. Demetri was handed a board, before Hawk walked a few feet away. Hawk jumped into the air and broke the board, the crowd went crazy, and Brooke leaned into Landon.

The Cobra Kais swarmed the stage again, holding up Cobra Kai merchandise, such as towels, tee shirts, even sweatpants. The crowd screamed and held their hands out, and the Cobras threw the merchandise and the crowd went crazy, elbowing people out of the way to grab it.

Johnny walked onto the stage and stopped behind a row of concrete blocks that had been set up. "Cobras, light it up." he instructed

Two Cobra Kais ran onto the stage, and one poured lighter fluid on the concrete, while the other one lit the fire. As the fire grew Johnny stepped forward, he looked at Missie, and she couldn't help the small smile that formed on her face. Johnny winked at her, which sent butterflies in her stomach to swarm.

The Cobra Kais came back onto the stage with Miguel on Johnny's right, and Hawk on the left. Johnny smirked at Daniel as he glared at him. Amanda walked over to Daniel, Sam and Robby, guiding the three of them away, while Missie led her children, sisters in-law, best friend, and nieces away, along with Landon

While Missie and her children pushed their way through the crowd, Missie looked in the sound booth and saw John Kreese.

"Johnny, what the hell were you thinking?" Missie asked as she stood in Johnny's Reseda apartment

"Advertising." Johnny said as he sat down on the couch and opened a beer. "Sure didn't hurt him to advertise his dojo and run mine into the ground. He's offering free karate. How the hell am I supposed to compete with that? He called my dojo a snake in the grass." Johnny said

"Not this shit again, John." Missie sighed, rubbing her temples. "You're not the only one who's entitled to run a dojo. Just let it fucking go—"

"Free fucking karate, Missie!" Johnny said, taking a swig of his beer. "What the hell was I supposed to do? I wasn't gonna stay quiet while he attacked the dojo."

"John, you never stop to think about your actions and how much they might hurt the people around you." Missie said

"Oh, please, save me the fucking guilt trip, Melissa." Johnny raised his voice.

Missie raised her voice in exasperation, "John, don't you realize how you sound right now? I just want you to stop think that your actions might hurt those around you. Think about Robby—he's your son."

Without thinking, Johnny slammed his fist down on the counter, making Missie flinch. He tried to read her expression, and saw something he hoped he would never see. She was afraid of him. Feeling frightened with himself, he backed away, while she wiped the tears that streamed down her face.

"Johnny, all I'm asking from you is this: instead of striking first, you need to think first. Be the better person. I don't know what Kreese is preaching to you, but quite frankly I don't like it.

"Missie, please don't—"

Before anything else could be said, Missie walked out the door, gently closing it behind her.

Missie woke up at 12 am, feeling parched. Getting out of the comfort of her bed, she wrapped her bathrobe around her body, and walked into the livingroom, to fix herself a glass of cherry coke.

Outside, Johnny parked the challenger in the driveway, next to Brooke's chevelle. He couldn't stop thinking about the Missie, and how he made her cry, after he made a promise to himself he would never do that. He also knows he went to far at Valley Fest, and she was just trying to make him see the light, and that was one of the many reasons why he was still so in love with her, and it killed him to make her flinch.

After getting out of the challenger, he walked up the walkway, then knocked on her door and waited for her to answer. After a few minutes, she answered the door. "Johnny, what are you doing out this late?" she said as she rubbed her beautiful blue eyes

"Can we talk? It's important." Johnny said

Missie nodded and opened the door further for him. He walked into the apartment and she led him inside. "What's going on? Is everything ok?"

"I wanted to talk about what happened." Johnny said as the two sat down on the couch

Missie nodded then turned to face him. "John, I—"

"No, princess. Don't apologize." Johnny said. "I'm sorry I raised my voice to you, and I'm so sorry I—"

"Hey, I also raised my voice as well. I should be apologizing too. I just wanted you to think first, before you struck first, because one day, you'll end up striking first with the wrong person and it will get you hurt bad, and I don't want to think about that." Missie said as she was close to tears. "I just got you back, and I don't want to lose you again."

"Hey, I'm not going anywhere princess." Johnny reassured. "I'm so sorry I made you flinch. You know I would never hurt you. Please don't be afraid of me."

"John, I know you would never hurt me. You've made that perfectly clear on several occasions. I'm not afraid of you." Missie smiled as she took his hand in her own.

"I'm so sorry Missie." Johnny said. "Please forgive me."

"I forgive you Johnny." Missie smiled as she rested her forehead against his. "I forgive you."
