...
It came out like a question but reality defused it as a statement.
"Oh come on Rany, you are the only person I know who would be able to trick him."
Rana's voice became inconceivable.
"What did you call me?"
Fiona looked partly confused about the change of topic.
"You mean- the part I called you Rany? That's the new nickname I came up with. I mean, your original name is already so short and-"
The female carried on with the dialogue, but didn't notice that the other person wasn't listening anymore. Finally coming to the end of her rambling, she heard Rana softly whispering to no one in particular.
"That's what she used to call me..."
It was clear to the other female who she was.
Fiona looked up disconcerted, ready to defuse the tension around them.
However Rana beat her to it.
"I will do it."
Seeing the confused sight of her best friend. She rolled her eyes and added vexed.
"I will seduce him, like you said he's playing right into our hands."
Before Fiona could interrupt her, she raised a hand.
"Yes the boy can not fall in love," twisting her scarlet painted lips into a sinful smirk. She twirled a strand of hair playfully around her fingers.
"But he's no exception to feeling lust. At the end of the day- men simply will be men."
The next hour were spent creating a plan to slowly let Tom be infested by Rana's charm. Their end goal was to kill him. Make him vulnerable. And strike when he is on his lowest point in life.
Poison was out of the question, Riddle's too clever for that. Attacking him upfrontโ overly risky. Sure the surprise effect would be on their side but Tom was someone who recovers fast. Not without a reason was he the best student in DADA, Rana not that far behind.
Nevertheless, one thing is for sure.
He will fall and how deeply he will fall. Both girls could already grasp their anticipation.
Hours later there was a knock on their door. Someone opened it, it was Rosier's little sister.
"Ladies, it's time for dinner, suivre." Her frenchย french accent was lightly noticeable.
Both girls looked surprised at the time, clearly shocked that it's already so late. Druella already gone, doubtlessly on her way back to the great hall.
Rana interrupted the sudden silence with closing the door wand-less, no one moved for a moment.
"This is a good opportunity for usโ we can finally destroy his Horcruxes."
Fiona eagerly nodded at that but stopped instantly. Realization crossed her face.
"What- Horcruxes ? You mean plural? How-"
The Black heiress opened her hand, a fine little box and a green fluid in a flask magically appeared out of nothing.
"You mean Gaunt's ring? Or the Basilisk venom?"
There was something wicked in her eyes. "I have my ways..."
Fiona openly gapped at the view in front of her, she couldn't believe it.
Did Rana went down alone to the sewerage and killed that monster? Fiona never doubted that the female in front could kill without mercy, for that the three unforgivable went too easily over her lips. There was no denying it, Fiona detected something unstable about her.
She should have known better, Rana came from none other than the noble and most ancient house of black. Their influence reached beyond her plain imagination. And with great power came great misuse.
Finally getting herself under control, she grabbed the raven-haired hand and dragged her along.
"What are we waiting forโ let's go to the Potion classroom."
On their way to their final destination, they meet some belated students who were in a rush to get to supper. Dumbledore was the exception. He leisurely walked down the hallway, on his way back to the office, as his gaze landed on them. The Head of Gryffindor smiled friendly at them, there was a twinkle in those eyes, as if he knew exactly what they were up to.
The girls looked away, not feeling comfortable with the thoughts of the old geezer knowing stuff he should not.
Standing in front of the Potion classroom, Fiona attempted to open the door, but no luck- it was locked.
Her female companion whispered a wand-less alohomora. It still didn't work, suddenly a random memory of a valuable lesson appeared in Fiona's head.
It only works with magic if there was magic involved before.
To test her theory she took a bobby pin out of her hair. And proceeded to unlock the lock.
Few minutes later, they heard a clicking sound.
Without any further delay, Rana opened the door and ushered her friend in. However, Fiona couldn't let this go without barging about her welcoming success.
"Don't you wanna know, from where I learned picking locks?"
With urgency in the other female's movements the Black heiress magically locked the door, also making it soundproof and proceeded to gather all the necessary things for the upcoming event.
Casually stating. "Your muggle upbringingโ no doubt."
Crossing her hands at the comment, the female pouted.
Fiona decided to avoid a debate and started to take preparations for their next actions. She went in the storage room, taking out the necessary things. Going into her next task, lightened up a some candles, which give off an ominous mood.
Lastly crossing the room, she went to the last row, in mind cleaning up the desk.
Rana came behind her and placed both dark objects into a shallow bowl which was already prepared by Fiona. The Gaunt Ring and Riddle's Diary darkly glowing from the light of candles. The female pulled out two daggers, handing one to her partner in crime.
"Careful, they are dipped in Basilisk venom." The raven-haired female proclaimed in a warning tone.
Fiona gripped the handed dagger with caution, she could see a dark green texture dripping down and looked up expectantly.
The final moment has come.
Euphoria was running down her veins, she could practically hear her own heart pumping blood into her system.
At the same time, with swiftness they lowered the daggers into the objects.
Out of the diary came an unknown red substance, which suspiciously looked like blood, even going over the edge of the table. And through the ring came out a black fog. Suddenly a bright light immersed over the room. Blinding those in the room.
Both witches couldn't see anything for a moment but after some time, they hesitantly opened their eyes. Having to adjust their eyes for the short living brightness, they blinked a few times.
The Zabini Heiress searched for the destroyed dark objects. But the only trace left was a pile of dark dust.
Not able to contain her excitement, she leaped into the arms of her best friends. But her happiness was only short-lived. The smile on her face vanished.
Realizing that their actions will have serious consequences on the timeline. From now one she won't be able to predict the future. Then destroying Tom Marvolo Riddle's insurance to immortality will change everything she knows.
Her knowledge about the future will be almost useless. A new timeline is about to be created.
Rana gazed over the entire room and sighed.
The classroom was encased in a black substance and smelled strongly after Sulfur. It was like something exploded in here, no place was spared. Even after everything got quickly cleaned with an easy charm, the girls could still smell the penetrant scent of Sulfur.
