𝘖𝘢𝘬𝘭𝘦𝘺 𝘑𝘰𝘩𝘯𝘴𝘰𝘯'𝘴 𝘗𝘖𝘝 :

I gasped the moment I saw her staring back at me, she had her blonde hair in a high ponytail as she had tears in her eyes the moment she saw me. It was my sister Layla, I quickly ran over to the door when Nora backed away from the window as she noticed me starting to try and pry away at the wood planks.

" help me! " I yelled before Nora leaned her head back and sighed before hopping off the couch and ran over to the door as Lucas grabbed the hammer from me and properly removed the nails causing the wood pieces on the door to fall off.

I opened the door quickly as Layla ran over to me with open arms hugging me tightly, I didn't let go for a long time. I wanted to just keep hugging my sister, it felt like I had nothing to worry about anymore now that I knew she was okay. I cried happy tears as she did to before walking in.

" your alive " she smiled her voice cracking still as she wiped under her eyes, " yes I am " I smiled over towards Lucas and Nora who smiled back. " I'm glad you all are " she said going to both Lucas and Nora hugging them individually.

" how bad is it out there? " Lucas questioned pointing towards the door, " it's pretty bad, the streets down there are getting more filled, the school was terrible and the city is gonna be bad according to Dylan " Layla nodded as she turned her head over to me, " Dylan's alive? Where is he! " I questioned as Layla smiled.

" hopefully still safe at our new home like I asked him to be " she laughed as she walked around the apartment, " you guys aren't safe here " she turned around quickly as we just looked at her confused. " the school has a timer still set for the bell hours, it will attract more and more zombies here which will cause them to come here " Layla said as I looked at Nora it was her family's apartment it was up to her.

" as much as I wanna stay, Layla is right " Nora sighed as Lucas nodded before walking to the bedroom, " do you and Dylan have room? " I asked as Layla stopped. " yes we do, pack what you guys need we have a car " Layla held up car keys when Lucas peeked out of the doorway holding up his car keys with a laugh.

" alright we got two then, you guys will follow me alright? " Layla spoke as I quickly ran over and grabbed all my stuff packing it into my bag. Nora grabbed a few extra bags as we completely raided the rest of the apartment with stuff we needed.

" follow me " Layla spoke as she got into the front seat of her car as I opened the passenger seat, " I wanna go with you " I said as I sat down buckling my seat belt. " alright then " Layla waved as a signal for Lucas and Nora to start following.

We drove up the road a different direction as we passed herds of zombies small and big ones, " how did you find me? " I said slightly as Layla sighed before telling me the whole story about how she went to the school and nearly died a few different times.

" you did that to try and find me? " I felt a little bit of guilt knowing my sister would go through all of that just to find me, " obviously, I forced Dylan to stay home because he tried to go with me and I couldn't have him get hurt or killed " she formed a slight smile on her face.

She quickly turned up the road towards a house surrounded by trees and greenery along with a lake far down the back yard, " this is beautiful " I gasped as I looked around outside of the window. " Dylan is gonna start crying the moment he see's you here Oak " Layla grabbed the bags we had in the back as I helped. I grabbed the keys to.

She walked up the steps as she began opening the door, the three of us silent like mice behind her as we walked in with amusement. " Dylan I'm home! " Layla called out but got no response when she looked around in the kitchen. " just place your bags here until we figure it out " she pointed next to the counter as we dropped them.

" where is Dylan? " Nora asked from next to Lucas as the boy walked around admiring everything, " no idea, he should be here " Layla walked towards the back door as I walked next to her a weird feeling in my stomach that something wasn't right, that weird feeling suddenly went away when I saw the back of the blonde boys head down by the lake.

" Dylan! " I screamed when the boy turned around confused as his jaw dropped when I waved with happy tears forming in my eyes, he dropped the stuff he was holding as he began running towards me as fast as he could.

" omg Oak! " he yelled as he quickly threw his arms around me nearly knocking my way smaller body then his over onto the ground, he kissed the top of my head quickly as he kept hugging me close to him, " your okay " his voice cracked as he spoke still hugging me.

" I am now " I spoke as Dylan looked over at Layla and went over and hugged her as well, " you did it " he smiled proudly as Layla did as well, " yes I did " she looked at me.

It about 2 hours later after reuniting with them and getting settled in, their was multiple different rooms I had a bedroom next to Layla's as Nora had one next to mine and Lucas chose the bedroom next to Dylan's, it made a lot of sense knowing they've been best friends since they were little kids.

I had a long sleeve dark blue shirt on as I had tucked it into the sweat pants I wore, I sat in the living room area as I had covered the windows with the curtains. It was dark outside and I had a bit of a fear in the apocalypse when it's dark.

" Oakley " Nora walked down the stairs as she sat next to me with a smile on her face, " hey Nora " I pulled my hair back into a low pony tail. " I'm happy for you " Nora nodded as I looked confused, " why? " I raised an eyebrow.

" for finding your family " Nora looked like she was hiding her sadness behind her smile, " I'm sorry about your dad " I took off a bracelet I had on my wrist as I grabbed her wrist and began putting it around it, " that was your moms " Nora shook her head refusing to keep it.

" I know " I clipped it onto her wrist as she looked at it carefully on her wrist, " you should have it tho " she went to try and take it off before I stopped her from taking it off, " you deserve to have it more then me right now " I smiled.

" keep it safe for me " I smiled as I stared at the blank tv on the wall, " it's weird how everything can go from normal to not " Nora sighed as I nodded, " true, it went from no fear to living in fear " I began standing up when I saw it getting more darker outside as I yawned.

Nora got up as well as the two of us went upstairs before going our separate ways into our bedrooms, I closed the door behind me and quickly closed my curtains as I plopped down in the nice warm bed that sat in the middle of my bed room, I instantly fell asleep the moment my head had hit the pillow case.

I woke up early in the morning to silence, not what I was used to especially knowing I'm sleeping under the same roof as Layla and Dylan again. I would always wake up to the sound of Dylan screaming at his video games with Lucas.

But I changed out of my sweats and shirt and put on some black jean shorts with a green t-shirt I found as I tucked it into my shorts, I skipped down the the stairs carefully as Layla quickly stopped me handing me a belt that had two holders on the side, " put it on " she smiled.

I took it from her as I wrapped it around my waist it was the perfect size for me as I put my knife in it and Layla placed a gun into it, " don't use it unless it's an emergency, we can't attract more of them " she spoke as I nodded my head.

I walked outside seeing Dylan chopping some wood outside, " what are you doing? " I questioned sitting down on a log near him. " getting wood to build with " he spoke out of breath as he pushed his blonde hair back.

" hopefully we can be able to build some sort of wall around here and maybe a few other houses so we can build our own town " Dylan smiled proudly, he was always full of ideas and I loved that about my brother. He was always so pumped to get stuff done and help out for others.

" need me to get Lucas? " I spoke but then turned around when I heard footsteps, " no need to " Lucas carried a few logs as he dropped them down next to Dylan. " that's it? " Dylan looked up at him a little confused. " what I had to get here a little quicker I saw some of them " Lucas pointed out towards across the lake.

" how many? Is it bad " I turned around with fear spread across my face as Dylan quickly got up, " not that bad just a few I didn't wanna make anymore noise " Lucas stared at Dylan before looking back at me, " we'll be fine Oak " the blonde boy placed a hand on my shoulder.

" just go inside alright? " Dylan reassured me as I nodded my head slightly, " I'll take her " Lucas offered as the blonde boy smiled and nodded before I walked up towards the house with Lucas next to me keeping me safe.

" maybe help Layla out? Or Nora " Lucas offered the idea as I gave him a little hug for walking me to the house as I disappeared through the back door and into the kitchen, " we've running dangerously low now " Layla looked in the fridge as Nora just held out a can of brown beans from a cabinet, " yeah and I don't think any of us wanna be eating these " Nora held them out.

" I'll go on a supply run " Layla looked at me when she noticed me staring blankly at her, " but you can't it's dangerous " I pointed to the door as Layla shrugged, " I've done it before I can do it again " Layla grabbed her empty backpack.
