𝘓𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘴 𝘚𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘩'𝘴 𝘗𝘖𝘝 :

I hopped out of the vehicle quickly making sure that Nora and Oakley were right next to me, the three of us all ran up the stairs to Nora's apartment as a zombie stood at the top of the stairs, it growled violently in our faces.

I quickly ran up the stairs ahead of my two friends pushing the zombie back as far as I could away from Nora's apartment, I managed to shove it off the balcony as Nora had finally opened the door into her apartment.

" dad! " Nora called out as I walked into the apartment quickly, I wasn't bit at all thank god I would have been disappointed if I were to die already, I quickly searched around the apartment just to find Nora's dad sitting against the floor of the kitchen area.

" dad are you okay? " Nora knelt down in front of him as she looked at her father that groaned in pain before making eye contact with his only daughter, " oh sweetheart " he spoke so slightly before coughing a bit. " are you hurt Mr Blaine? " Oakley stood next to me her voice soft.

" they got me " his voice cracked so slightly as he lifted his shirt up revealing a bite mark on his right torso, " no.. " Nora's eyes watered as her body shook the moment she saw the bite mark. " you got to get me out of here " her dad insisted as he wanted the three of them to be able to stay in the apartment safely.

" we can't leave you out there like this! " Nora had tears streaming down her cheeks as she glanced over at us, I stared at the girl and just gulped and nodded my head and she just shook her head in disagreement. " we can't Lucas! " she argued and I felt my heart break.

" your dad is turning Nora! " I pointed at him and said to her as my voice broke I knew this was hard on her but her dad was right, as much as I didn't wanna have to throw her dad out or put her dad down we have to do it.

" Lucas is r- right Nora " her dad slowly started closing his eyes as he twitched a little bit thats when Oakley took a few steps back a little frightened now, " Dad! " Nora cried out as she shook his shoulders a bit getting no response.

Not even a few moments later her dads hands started moving as Nora sobbed more, he turned his head over as his eyes turned a completely different colour his skin had gotten all moldy and gross like as he began trying to bite Nora, while growling at the young girl.

" ah! " Nora screamed as she sobbed and jumped back still sitting on the ground as I quickly grabbed a random knife when I stabbed at her dads neck, realizing what I have done I had a bit of tears forming in my eyes. Also realizing that her dad hadn't been killed yet I raised an eyebrow trying to think of something.

" Nora get away from him! " Oakley screamed from behind me as Nora quickly backed away just as her dad grabbed a hold of her foot, right when he was about to bite her leg I quickly yanked the knife out and stabbed his head.

" the brain " I spoke when I noticed her dad suddenly not moving, I have killed Nora's zombified dad now realizing that the only way to kill the zombies is by the brain. The brain was what kept them moving still.

Nora quickly got up as Oakley hugged the girl I was still out of breath while trying to figure out what I just did, I murdered someone well not an alive person but someone that meant a lot to me and my best friend.

I quickly took the knife out putting it into my pocket and grabbing a hold of her father instead of going to the front door where a bunch of zombies may be I went to the back balcony and opened the door, I did what I had to do and that was I tossed him off of the balcony.

I sighed as I gripped onto the railing of the balcony as I watched the body fall down into the cement below, a bunch of zombies ran past it as I looked up towards the city and world around. Everyone was destroyed nothing looked the same anymore, it changed so quickly.

I turned around and decided it would be best we start getting the apartment ready for the apocalypse it was just the three of us for now we didn't know who else is out there and alive right now or we don't know anywhere else to go, it's not like we were planning on going to one of the refugee camps we don't even know where they are because the dumb tv cut out.

I closed the door quietly behind me as I walked in, both the girls turned to look at me as they had been crying still from the death of Mr Blaine. " we need to get ready " I spoke trying to move on from everything. The two nodded as I quickly went to Mr Blaine's work room. It was the room where he had all his tools and any wood.

I walked out with a box of nails and a flew planks of wood that I could carry as I noticed Nora head into her bedroom, I ignored it and went back to placing the planks against the door and trying not to make to much sound while banging the nails into the door to hold the planks up.

Just as I finally finished putting the last plank I headed over to the back door copying the same thing I did to the front door, as Oakley walked out into the kitchen with a bunch of large blankets scrunched up in her arms. I looked at her confused for a moment.

" is their any extra nails we can cover the windows with these? " she asked as I nodded my head and grabbed the nail box their was indeed still a bunch of nails left, " yeah come on " we went to each of the windows in the house quickly covering each of them with the blankets.

" I think we need better clothes for this " Oakley pointed out her outfit as she knew running in the clothes she had on from zombies would not be a very smart idea, " go ask Nora " I suggested as I began looking around the apartment for things.

As I was searching I knocked a little bit on Nora's door as I knew Oakley had already gone in there and began changing into new clothes, " come on in " Nora spoke as I opened the door slightly peeking my head in. " Pebbles is still here " Nora glanced over and smiled when I smiled and walked through the doorways.

" let's keep it that way " I sat on the end of her bed as I looked at the bird cage and smiled towards the brunette girl, " what if we have to move somewhere new? " she asked as I looked up at the ceiling in a deep thought, " we use a shoe box to carry him in? " I suggested as she smiled.

" thanks Lucas " she looked over her shoulder as I did the same to the blonde girl who was sitting down in the corner of the room, she looked like she was hurting inside and was just trying to hide it from them, " what's up Oakley? " I questioned as the girl's lip quivered.

" I don't know if Layla and Dylan are alive still or not and it's bugging me " she picked at her finger nails before glancing over at us, " Dylan's a smart guy trust me, I've been friends with him for a while your brother should be good " I told her hoping that he was alive, I mean Dylan was my best friend after all and I cared about him.

" I hope " Oakley wiped her eyes to stop them from tearing up as all she wanted to do was see her siblings alive again and be able to hug them, I knew that I had to keep her alive and Nora, because Dylan would absolutely kill me if he found out his little sister was killed in the hands of me who was supposed to keep her alive.

" how much food we got? " I got up and headed over to Nora who shrugged, " not sure I can check " she slowly got up as she walked out of the doorway into the hallway. " so how are we sleeping tonight? " I questioned as Oakley thought about it, " I say we all sleep in Nora's room it's best if we stay together " she suggested as I nodded in agreement.

The two of us walked out and headed to her dads room as we grabbed a few things and the blankets and pillows off of the bed, we headed back and tossed them into Nora's room, we were just gonna deal with it after but first we wanted to check on Nora.

We walked into the kitchen as Nora showed us the food situation, " hm still plenty, but if we run out we will live on canned food until we have to go get more " I said as I grabbed a can of mushroom soup from the cabinet.

" got it " Nora spoke softly as I began searching drawers, " what the hell are you doing? " Nora asked as I glanced over with my eyes widened " oh just looking for knives and weapons " I began handing the two girls some knifes.

" Okay so night is falling now so we should go get some sleep for now " I spoke to them before walking back to the bedroom as the two girls followed me, we quickly set up the bed and a smaller bed on the floor next to it as we closed the door and made a fake lock that could actually lock the door as Nora did not have one.

" goodnight " we all said to one another before I threw the blanket over my head and fell asleep in fear, we all did I mean falling asleep in an apocalypse is not really a sweet dreams kind of a sleeping place to be in.
