xvii.
AFTER AN EXHAUSTING TWO DAYS of helping Rebekah find out where the last White Oak Tree was, finding out that the Salvatore's had owned had owned the milling ledgers during that time, and then, after an incident with Damon, burning down the last of the white oak, Violet was finally able to spend some time with her soulmate.
Though it didn't last very long, because soon after, they had to go and hunt down Finn so that the siblings may be unlinked from each other.
"Hello, Finn." Klaus spoke with a smirk, his hands locked with Violet's as they walked. Finn glanced at them. "Hello, Niklaus. I have nothing to say to you."
"Well, I'm not here to chat. I will ask you one time though, where's our mother?"
Finn didn't bother to look at the soulmates as he walked, visibly walking a bit faster like he was trying to get away. "Gone to end our abominable lives." He then turned his head to face his brother. "And when she does, I will sacrifice myself all over again."
Klaus smirked. "How fortunate that I found you. I require your assistance." Finn smiled in disbelief. "I have no wish to help you. Only to see you dead."
"Right, well, that's the thing. You see, you won't be able to see me dead, because if I die, then you die, so wish unfulfilled." Violet snickered at the comment, looking up at the hybrid with a grin which he returned.
"Oh, go bother someone else with your hollow charms, Niklaus. Perhaps your little soulmate over there?" The older of the brothers remarked.
"Why? When I can bother my big brother? I need you to accompany me back to Mystic Falls. I have a witch there who can help undo Esther's spell that linked us together." Klaus explained.
Finn raised his voice, fed up completely with his brother. "I do not wish to be unlinked!"
Klaus placed a hand on Finn's chest to stop him. "Again with the wishes. Let me rephrase--you will come back with me or I will put you back in that coffin in which you rotted for 900 years."
"What happens to one, happens to all." Finn reminded. "You may not feel the effects of the dagger but you'd lose your precious Rebekah." He taunted.
Finn scoffed, shaking his head and walking away a few feet before speeding into an alleyway. But, unfortunately for Finn, Rebekah was already there waiting.
"Lets not make this any worse than it has to be, darling brother." Rebekah spoke. Finn looked at her in disbelief. "You're siding with him?" He questioned. "Rebekah, he stored us in boxes."
The female vampire glared at her eldest brother. "At least he's not trying to make us extinct." She argued.
Finn turned around and came to face with Klaus once again, Violet still by his side. "What are you going to do?" Finn asked. "Kill me?"
Violet resisted the urge to roll her eyes. "Oh, yeah, that's right, you've got a death wish. Fine. Pathetic. But fine. The thing is, I'm not going to have you take the rest of us down with you." Klaus declared before grabbing ahold of Finn, throwing him to one side of the alley and then to the other, dropping him down and watching Finn either in pain.
"Help me grab him." Klaus told his sister. "We need to get back to Mystic Falls."
━
Finn landed to the ground with a thud, looking up at his siblings with wide eyes.
"Gather your witch." Rebekah said. "Let's get his blood and get on with it."
The eldest Original scowled at them. "You can't force me to help you."
"Oh, I most likely could." Klaus countered. "But, why force when I could persuade?" He gestured towards the stairs, a red head Violet recognized as Sage--the woman that had informed her and Rebekah about Damon's plan--slowly made her way down the stairs, grinning when she and Finn made eye contact. "Hello, Finn."
"Sage." The Original gasped out. The former lovers met at the end of the stairs, embracing each other happily.
"What do you know? True love prevails." She states. Klaus shot a fond grin to his soulmate, though she was too busy fiddling with her necklace to notice. "It does occasionally have its uses." He says before messaging Kol back. "Easier than torturing him."
"I have something to do, what do you need from me for this spell?" Rebekah asks, looking like she was ready to take off.
"Just your blood and your blessing." Klaus replies. "Where are you going."
Rebekah's face hardens, Violet suddenly realizing why the Original was in such a bad mood. "I have some unfinished business with Damon Salvatore. Ask Violet what he did to me and you'll understand why retribution is in order."
━
Damon groaned out as Rebekah closed the bear traps around his wrists, blood immediately beginning to pour down his arms.
"I found them in the shed." She informed him. "What kind of monster would trap a poor, defenseless animal?"
The younger vampire looked up at his restraints. "Gotta admit. Even for me, it's a little kinky."
From her spot my the cabinet, Violet made a small ugh sound and took a sip of the wine that Rebekah kindly poured her. She was beginning to realize that being around all these vampires was causing her to drink more alcohol than she probably should at 17--going on 18--years old. Not that she was complaining at all though.
"Wouldn't it be easier to like, hang him upside down?" Violet voiced. Rebekah looked at her in surprise. "And how would you know." The smaller blonde shrugged. "I like horror movies."
Rebekah just shook her head and turned back to her victim. "You pretended to be interesting in me, then you slept with me so your trampy friend, Sage, could steal my thoughts." Rebekah spoke as she slowly approached and circled Damon. "Ever since then, I've felt this incessant need to one-up you." She finally stepped in front of him, slightly waving a dagger in his face. "So, I've decided to bleed the vervain from your system."
Rebekah quickly ripped open his shirt, Damon letting out an, "Ooh." But his smirk quickly fell when the Original dragged the knife across his chest, creating a large wound.
"You wanna compel me to be your boyfriend?" Damon taunted, though Rebekah wasn't phased. "Actually, is rather compel you to kill your brother. Or Elena." She told him, his face dropping at the mention of the doppelgänger. "But since vampires heal, bleeding you may take a while. We should probably stick to the major arteries." Rebekah grinned before slicing his throat.
Klaus took that moment to walk in, Violet's face lighting up just at his presence. "Well, look what you caught." He said, holding out his hand for Violet to take as he looked up at his sisters work.
"If you're trying to bleed him of vervain, don't you think hanging him upside down?" He suggested. Violet threw her hands up. "That's what I said!" She shouted making her soulmate smirk proudly.
Rebekah rolled her eyes at them. "I'm perfectly capable of inflicting pain, thank you very much."
"Oh, well, excuse me. It's not like I have an expertise in the matter." The hybrid shot back, Violet and him both letting out quiet laughs.
"You know, why don't you just leave me be and go and manage your witch?" Rebekah suggested, though it was obvious she was just trying to get rid of her brother.
Klaus put his hands up in defense before he and Violet left the room.
"Tick tock. I should hear chanting by now." Klaus spoke as they entered the main room. On the couch, was Bonnie, reading through her grimoire tensely. "I'm still studying the unlinking spell." Bonnie choked out. "It's not that easy, especially under duress."
The hybrid leaned down close to the witches ear, speaking in a threatening voice. "You've been warned. If you're looking for a way to send for help, I will kill anyone who comes to your rescue."
Bonnie jumps out of her seat. "This is the spell. I just don't know if I'm strong enough."
"Then you should have a little more faith in yourself, Bonnie." He says while moving towards Bonnie. "Your energy helped my mother link us. Honestly, I think someone isn't trying very hard." Bonnie held her stare on him, making it obvious that she wasn't going to comply to his orders. "Very well."
Klaus pulls out his voice, quickly dialing a number before putting it to his ear. "Kol. How's the weather up there in Mile High City?" The mention of the city catches the brunette's attention. "And how's our friend? May I see him?"
The Original walks over to Bonnie and holds up his phone, the screen displaying a view of Jeremy and his dog in a park in Denver. "There's Jeremy, playing fetch with his new puppy. Oh, isn't that just the most adorable thing you've ever seen?"
He pulls the phone away. "Thank you Kol, we'll be in touch." He says before hanging up. "So, Bonnie, how bout that spell?"
━
A manly scream sounds from another room in the house, startling Bonnie. "What was that?"
Klaus casually looks in the direction of where Rebekah was keeping Damon. "I wouldn't let it bother you, love."
Bonnie scowled at him. "Well, it does bother me. You bother me. Well, you use people to get what you want, it's not right." The witch turns her head to her former friend, looking at the petite blonde in disgust. "And you're just gonna let me do this to all of us? You're just as much of a monster as he is!"
Violet looked down at her shoes, her jaw clenching shut and using all of her willpower to keep the hurt tears from falling. Klaus glared at the dark skinned girl for insulting his soulmate. "You're being emotional, Bonnie. I understand that things have been rough for you. You know, with your mother leaving. Again. It's very sad." He spoke as he approached her. "I can help you find her, if you want. I have people who can find people who can bring her back to you. Or, if you choose I can just bring parts of her back. "
Bonnie pushes Klaus away with her arm with an angry expression.
"Isn't it obvious that I'm just gonna continue to hurt the people you love until you do the spell? Now, I know it's in the grimoire and I know it requires the blood of my siblings, so here we are." He grabs a small case from a near by chest of drawers, opening it to reveal four vials filled with blood. "Elijah. Rebekah. Kol. Finn."
Klaus' hybrid features come out as he bites his wrist, holding it up as blood dropped to the floor. "Where do you want us?"
The witch reluctantly looks away and grabs a glass, holding it under Klaus' hand and allowing his blood to fill the cup.
Bonnie starts the spell, mixing all of the vials of blood into the same goblet, beginning to chant in Latin. Continuing the spell, she pours the blood onto the table, the soulmates watching as the blood starts to disperse into five different circles.
The candles flare up as the once large pool of blood has now completely separated.
━
As Klaus is escorting Bonnie out, Violet stares blankly at the lit fireplace.
Maybe Bonnie was right.
Maybe Violet was a monster. After all, she was letting Klaus casually hurt the people that were once her friends.
But then again, they did hurt her, in more ways than one. They came up with a plan to kill her soulmate and were surprised when she became upset with them. Elena daggered Rebekah, and went along with Esther's plan to kill the Originals even if it meant Violet dying as well.
And if there was one thing Violet had in common with Elena Gilbert, is that she would not back down from what she believed was the right thing.
If the gang wanted to kill Klaus and his family, then fine. But Violet was going to stay by the Originals' sides, and she would do anything to protect the family of vampires even if it meant that Elena would go down in the process.
It was obvious that Bonnie's earlier words had effected Violet, everyone in the room could see. And while they may not have much of an effect on her now, she was going to milk the fact that Bonnie thought they did.
Shooting up from her seat, Violet sprinted past her soulmate and his sister, quickly reaching Bonnie just as the witch was pulling out her phone.
The taller teenager glared at Violet. "What do you want?"
Violet pretended to swallow thickly and look guilty, picking at her nails. "Look, Bonnie, I know things aren't great between any of us right now...but I need a favor."
Bonnie scoffed and began to walk away but the blonde was quick to stop her. "No, no, no, wait! Just hear me out please." When Bonnie made no motion to move, Violet continued. "The other day at the ball, my necklace," She held up the piece of jewelry. "starting glowing. I have no idea why but you're the only person I know who could find out."
The witch quickly shook her head. "I'm sorry, Violet. But I can't not after everything."
"Bonnie, I promise I won't let neither Klaus or Kol hurt Jeremy or hurt your mom. Just..please. Just this one little favor and I promise I'll never ask for anything ever again. I won't even speak to you if that's what you want."
The Bennet Witch clenched her jaw before looking back up at her former friend, nodding after a minute. "Okay."
━
As Violet is helping her soulmate clean up everything that Bonnie had used, an annoyingly familiar voice booms through the house.
"Klaus, I'm here! Let's do this." Stefan yells. The two Originals and Violet enter, all with irritated expressions.
"Oh good," Klaus smirks. "a hero. What do you want?"
Stefan drops he duffle bag he had been carrying at Klaus' feet. "I'm here to make a deal." Damon picks up his head and shoots a confused look to his brother. "Stefan, what are you doing?"
"Eight stakes made of white oak. The part of Wickery Bridge that you forgot to burn." He informs them. Klaus glared at Rebekah, the female vampire looking at Stefan with slightly wide eyes. "That's impossible."
"Actually it's not." The youngest Salvatore immediately responds. "Finn is dead."
While Klaus reacts by merely narrowing his eyes, Violet's jaw drops and Rebekah's breath hitches. "You killed my brother?"
Stefan clenched his jaw and looked back over to the hybrid. "Damon in exchanged for the last eight weapons that can kill you."
"And how do I know there aren't any more left?" Klaus questions.
"Because there aren't." Stefan replies. "Let's be certain, shall we?" Klaus says. Violet can see the slight panic in Stefan's eyes as the hybrid walks over to Damon.
Klaus leans closer to the raven haired vampire. "Leave." Damon stared at the ground. "No."
"Go on. Leave." Klaus insisted. Rebekah poured. "Nik, he's my plaything not yours." Klaus suddenly grabs Damon by the jaw, forcing him to make eye contact. "I said, go. Home."
Damon growls lowly before he compulsion takes effect and he begins to pull his arms from the bear traps, the flesh from his wrist peeling off in the process. Stefan swallows thickly and squeezes his eyes shut, his heart clenching from the painful screams of his older brother.
After a few more seconds more of Damon grunting and groaning in pain, Klaus grins and puts up his hand. "Alright, stop, stop, stop, before you hurt yourself." The Original chuckled. "Wow. I see that he can finally be compelled. Now." Klaus repeats his earlier actions grabs Damon by the throat, compelling him once again. "Minus the stake that's in my brother, how many more stakes are out there that can kill me?"
Damon pants heavily. "Eleven."
"Eleven!" Klaus exclaims. "Really? So, not eight then."
"You really shouldn't have lied." Violet speaks up. Stefan glares at her and then looks back to Klaus and his brother. "I'll get you the other three."
"Yeah, that'll be nice." Klaus agreed. "Or since you lied, maybe I'll just compel your brother to chew out his own tongue."
Stefan shakes his head with a disgusted look. "What is wrong with you?"
"What is wrong with you?!" The older Original shouts. "Do you really have no appreciation for me? I have given you someone to hate, to loathe, a target for all of your anger; so you don't have to turn it on yourself. I have given your life purpose, as your friend." The hybrid laughs. "I really think you should be thanking me."
Stefan speeds at Klaus, pinning him against a wall, the white oak stake in his hand being held back by Klaus.
"Stop!" A feminine voice shouts.
Everyone's attention turns to Violet, one of the stakes from the duffle bag now gripped tightly in her hand, the tip of the stake poking the skin above Damon's heart. "You may not be an Original, but white oak is still wood and it can still kill Damon. Back down." She speaks in a low, threatening voice. When Stefan doesn't comply, Violet begins to push the wood into Damons skin, making sure Stefan knew how serious she was. "Back. Down."
Stefan loosens his grip, allowing Klaus to easily grab the stake from his hands. "There. Now you only have to get me the other two."
Rebekah sighs. "This is ridiculous."
The taller of the two blonde girls walks over to the barely conscious vampire, opening up his restraints and letting him fall to his knees.
Klaus sends a puzzled look to his sister. "What are you doing?"
"I brought him here. I get to release him. My rules now." Replies Rebekah. "Bring us the stakes and you both live. Take your brother as a sign of good faith."
The female Original picks up the duffel bag with the stakes on her way out of the room. Violet followed closet behind but she stopped to stand next to Klaus rather than leaving.
"Bring us the stakes." Klaus orders. "All of them. Or I will wage a war against everyone you love. I hope I'm being clear."
━
"I can't believe Finn is dead." Rebekah mutters as her and Violet continue to drop the white oak stakes into the fireplace.
Klaus responds without looking up. "Good riddance." He glanced at her through his peripheral vision. "He was an embarrassment, Rebekah."
Rebekah sends him a disbelieving look. "He was still your brother. Mind your tongue."
The hybrid continues to speak casually, zipping up the case of bottles that had formerly contained the blood of the Originals. "Fine. Let's all say a prayer for Finn, who slept in a box longer than he lived as a man. He was a lovesick fool. He's better off in death."
Violet can feel a pang in her heart, though she just inhaled deeply and throws another piece of wood into the fire.
The female Original glanced at the human before approaching her brother, her feelings hurt as well. "Is that how you would speak of me if I died?"
"Well, you let the Salvatores loose with two stakes that can kill us, so I guess we'll find out soon enough." Klaus sneered. "And since when did you have a soft spot for them?"
Rebekah scowled at her brother. "The Salvatores may fight like dogs, but in the end they would die for each other." Tears welled up in the vampires eyes, and Violet made a mental note to scold her soulmate once Rebekah left. "At least they know what family means. You destroyed ours."
"I wanted a family." He informed. "They just didn't want me. And now we're unlinked we're no longer responsible for each other."
Rebekah glares at him. "So are you leaving?"
Klaus makes a 'maybe' face. "As soon as I get my stakes, I'm gone. I'm gonna take Elena and use her blood to create a new family--of hybrids."
"And if I choose to stay?" Rebekah questions.
The older Mikaelson lifts his head to look at his sister. "Then you're just as pathetic as Finn."
Ignoring his soulmates disapproving look, Klaus stomps out of the room, leaving the two blondes in silence.
"Bekah..." Violet is the first to speak up. "He didn't mean that."
The vampire shakes her head, her lips pursed. "Yes. He did." She sighs. "Honestly, I don't know why you try to defend him anymore, Violet."
The teenager shrugs, throwing the last of the stakes into the fireplace before turning to face Rebekah. "I know you all don't get to see it very often, but he's always been sweet with me. Ever since he came on the day of the sacrifice. I guess I just hope that I can make him better. So that you can all see why I defend him."
"So what was that earlier?" Rebekah asks. Violet gives her a puzzled look. "What was what?"
The Original rolls her eyes. "Don't play dumb. When he called Finn a lovesick fool. You were hurt. I could see it. And when he mentioned taking Elena to make more hybrids, I could here your heart beating faster." She pointed out. Realizing that everything the vampire was saying was true, Violet looks down at her feet. "He even hurt you and yet you still hope for his redemption."
"He's my soulmate. It's my job to make him better."
━
The next day was spent at the Salvatore Boarding House with Klaus, doing all they can to speed up the process of finding the last white oak stakes.
They had easily found one of them in the Salvatore house, but the location of the last one was still unknown to everyone but Alaric's alter ego. When Evil-aric--as Damon liked to call him--refused to make his presence known, Klaus resorted to killing him, though that didn't work either.
Soon after, Stefan was able to beat out the mans alter ego and they found out where the stake was; in the cave, where no vampire can enter.
Esther had also decided to make an appearance, dying soon after and, unbeknownst to everyone else, inhabiting Rebekah's body.
The following morning, Klaus and Violet occupy the same room as the night he announced that he would be leaving.
As the hybrid expertly painted on a canvas, Violet looked up from her phone, opening to mouth to say something but quickly closing it. She didn't know how Klaus would react, what with everything going on, she never knew what he would say anymore.
"Nik," She managed to let out. The Original looked at her over his shoulder, his eyebrows raised. "Yes, flower?"
Violet began to stammer. "U--um, when you told Rebekah that you were uh..leaving. Did-did you mean that I would..go with you?" Klaus set his paintbrush down, looking at his soulmate with a confused expression.
"Of course I did. Why would you not come with me?" He questioned, taking slow steps towards her.
The human shrugged nervously. "Well... you just–you never mentioned me when you were talking about taking...Elena, so I wasn't sure if you wanted me to go with you or not." She responded.
Klaus frowned, now understanding why she was asking such an obvious question. He approached her and took her small hands in his larger ones, looking into her mesmerizing hazel eyes. "I will never leave you. Ok? When I was talking to my sister...I was angry–I wasn't thinking and I forgot to mention you. Once that white oak is destroyed, we'll leave. And I'll take you anywhere and everywhere. Anywhere you want to go. Ok, flower?"
She squeezed his hands, a small grin growing on Violet's face. "Ok."
Just as Klaus makes it back to his painting, Rebekah walks in, Violet's phone also ringing at the same moment, the name Bonnie displayed on the screen. The petite blonde sends the siblings a smile before walking out of the room.
Klaus looks at Rebekah. "What took you so long?"
Rebekah/Esther purses her lips. "Alaric didn't want to hand over the stake." She holds up the stake. "Luckily I'm quite the charmer."
The corners of his lips turned up to a grin. "That's it?"
"The last of the white oak stakes that can kill us." Rebekah/Esther confirmed. "Do you want to do the honors or shall I?"
The hybrid smirked and took the piece of wood, immediately throwing the the stake into the fireplace then turning back to his painting.
"Well that's that then." The female vampire smiles.
"Pack your bags." Klaus speaks up as she's walking away. "We're leaving."
Rebekah/Esther halts. "Today?"
Klaus nods. "Why not? There's nothing keeping us here. We'll grab the doppelgänger and be off by sunset."
"But tonight is the decade dance." She responds. "So?" Klaus asks. "So, I'm head of the committee, we have to go." Rebekah/Esther insists.
Klaus gives his sister a look. "I'm not going to any dance."
"What about Violet? Haven't you thought about whether she wants to go or not?" The younger siblings questions.
Klaus went silent, sighing. "She hasn't mentioned anything."
Rebekah/Esther raises her eyebrows. "Well, she happened to tell me that she did in fact want to go. Besides, don't act like you wouldn't love to see Violet in a little flapper dress."
The older Mikaelson rolled his eyes, a small grin growing on his face. "Okay, fine. One last hoorah."
The vampire/witch smiled. "One last hoorah, Nik."
Violet then walked in, her eyes slightly wide and her heart beating quickly, her phones grasped tightly in her hand. Klaus looked at his soulmate in concern. "Is everything ok?"
The human nodded. "Yeah. Yeah everything's great."
━
Violet slipped on a pair of cream colored heels, the color identical to her 1920's style dress.
"Flower!" She heard her soulmate shout from down the stairs. "Are you ready?"
She yelled back a yes and quickly grabbed her matching clutch, slipping her phone inside and sprinting out.
Violet saw Klaus before he saw her. He seemed lost in thought, staring thoughtfully at the flames trapped in the fireplace. He was wearing a 20's style white tux, his hair styled slightly to fit the era a bit more. Over he looked like nothing less than perfection and Violet wanted nothing more than to jump his bones, as Caroline would say.
"Nik," The human spoke up, announcing her presence. The hybrids head snapped over to her, his breath hitching and his mouth dropping open slightly. "O-oh--um, you're ready?"
Klaus wanted to slap himself just then. Not once has a girl ever made him speechless and Violet was able to do so without even realizing the effect she had on him.
The blonde teenager simply nods, sending her soulmate a small grin. After a moment, Klaus smiled and held out his arm, linking arms with her and leading her out of the house.
Because of Violet's love for the rush vampire speed gave her, and her inability to do so, Klaus sped them to the high school. Music from the Jazz Era could be heard from outside of the building and, although she always did love her schools decade dances, Violet had a bad feeling in her gut about the events that would happen tonight.
As they enter the gym, Violet curses under her breath upon seeing Caroline on the dance floor with Tyler Lockwood. They hadn't even been in the dance for more than a minute and things have already gone wrong.
Violet sighs heavily when her soulmate begins to lightly pull her towards the other couple.
"Where've you been, mate?" Klaus questions, his eyes hard.
Tyler swallows thickly but maintains his composure. "I just got back in town."
"That's funny," Klaus deadpans. "I don't recall giving you permission to leave in the first place."
Caroline sends Violet a pleading look, the shorter blonde girl nodded quickly and placing her hand on Klaus' shoulder to get his attention. "Hey, Nik, why don't we, um--why don't we go dance, yeah?"
The hybrid clenched his jaw, glancing at Tyler once more before nodding and leading his soulmate away.
Violet sighed as they started to sway to the music, raising her eyebrows at the Original. "You don't always have to prove that you're the alpha male, y'know?"
"I don't have to prove anything, love. I am the alpha male." Violet could only chuckle at his competitive manner. After a second, Violet looks up at Klaus with a grin. "Is this what you looked like in the twenties?"
Klaus cracked a smile and shrugged. "More or less, but yeah this is basically what it was like." His eyes trailed over her face admiringly. "You would've loved the 1920s. The girls were reckless, sexy, fun. They literally used to dance until they dropped."
Violet beamed. "Sounds fun. Although I'm not sure I'd want to be with you then. I can barely handle Stefan now, I don't think I would have been able to go a day without insulting him." Klaus chuckled. "The way he is now is not the same as he was before. Stefan used to be fun and like I said, we were like brothers. But all good things must come to an end, I suppose."
A comfortable silence falls upon the soulmates before Violet remembers the phone call she had gotten earlier. "Oh, Nik I-"
Klaus pulls back from her, holding up his hand as he searched the gym, his eyebrows furrowed. "What is it?" Violet asks.
The hybrid looked at her. "Where is Rebekah?"
━
"Rebekah, call me back immediately!" Klaus demanded into his phone as the two of them exited the school. "I only came to this ridiculous dance because you begged me to and now you're nowhere to be found."
A strange white line on the ground catches Violet's eye and as they step closer, she realizes that it's a line of salt, going completely around the school. She nudges her soulmate. "Look."
"What is this?" He questions, sharing a troubled look with Violet.
Stefan walks behind them, clearly annoyed with the situation.
"Your mother is back."
━
Later in one of the classrooms, Violet stands with Klaus, the other occupants including the Salvatore's, Bonnie and her date Jamie, and Jeremy. The witch continued to chant a spell in Latin, several candles lit around her and everyone watching her intensely.
"She does this all the time, right?" Jamie questioned, being new to all of this supernatural stuff.
"What's taking so long?" Klaus asks loudly. Bonnie opens her eyes and glared at the hybrid, not effecting him at all. "All boundary spells have a loop hole."
Matt then enters the classroom. "People are walking right out of the dance, past the barrier."
Jeremy wore a determined expression, worrying everyone except Klaus who was only amused at the human. "Matt and I can leave, we can stop Esther ourselves. We just gotta find out where she is." The Gilbert boy explained.
"It's suicide, Jeremy." Stefan scolded, looking up at the ceiling, annoyed.
Klaus suddenly speeds over to Jamie, picking him off the ground by his throat, ignoring the surprised, "Nik!" That came from Violet. "Suicide would be disappointing me! Now work your magic, witch, or I'll start killing people you fancy." The Original threatened with a smirk.
"Let him go!" Bonnie demanded with a shaky voice. Klaus smirked at Jamie, fear clear in the innocent humans eyes. "Not until you get us out of here."
"Ah, don't be stupid, Klaus. Bonnie doesn't give a damn about us." Stefan spoke bitterly as he approached them. "The only reason she's helping us right now is to save Caroline and Tyler. You start killing the people she cares about, she'll tell us all to go to hell."
Realizing that this is true, Klaus clenches his jaw and looks towards Bonnie who could only hold her stare. Violet sighed. "Just let him go, Nik."
Reluctantly, Klaus, quite violently, let go of Jamie, and then Bonnie proceeded.
━
Damon walks into another classroom shortly after Bonnie does, Klaus and Violet following a few feet behind.
In all honesty, Violet didn't think it was absolutely necessary for her to be at Klaus' side all the time, but with his mother back and ready to terrorize them once again, Klaus was not going to take any chances.
"Here." Damon held out a vile of blood. "Jeremy made a little Gilbert blood donation for your locator spell."
Bonnie flickered her eyes between the three of them. "I have to do this with you three lurking over me?"
Damon gave her a 'really?' look. "You're still mad at me for what happened to Abby. Let me apologize. I'm sorry Elijah forced us to turn your mother into a vampire to save Elena's life. Didn't exactly have a choice."
"There's always a choice." Bonnie scowled. "Whenever you make one someone else suffers."
Violet looks at the witch, disbelief clear in her face. "Would you rather Elena have died?"
The dark skinned teenager pursed her lips, staring coldly at the petite blonde girl. "Let's cut the dramatics and begin, shall we?" Klaus cut in.
The Bennett witch glares at them before opening the vile, pouring the blood onto the map of Mystic Falls and beginning to chant. "Phasmatos Tribum Nas Ex Veras, Sequita Saguines, Ementas Asten Mihan Ega Petous."
The pool of blood doesn't move, frustrating Bonnie. "Esther is fighting me."
Klaus leans over the table, peering at the map intensely. "Esther couldn't possibly have this much power. Unless she's channelling something."
"A hotspot?" Bonnie suggests.
Klaus inhaled deeply. "Get the humans ready. I know where she is."
━
"You know this is your fault." Klaus pipes up. "You set us on this path when you released my mother. I wonder if revenge will prove worth the cost."
"Oh, I'm done with revenge." Stefan informs. "As far as Esther; we've stopped her before, we'll stop her again."
A few feet away, Violet sits on the curb, the few supplies she had taken from the classroom held tightly in her hands. As she writes on the piece of notebook paper, her mind flashes back to the day of the sacrifice; the day she first met Klaus.
He informed her that she was to leave town with him, and Stefan she found out later on. When there was no way for her to say her goodbyes to her friends, she wrote them a letter that was way too long--due to her being quite an emotional person--and that was it. She was now doing the same, except instead of the letter being addressed to her friends because she wouldn't be seeing them, this letter was to Alaric and she was only writing it because she wasn't sure if anyone would even allow her to see the man before he either passed or completed his transition.
Word had gotten back to the group at the high school that Esther had spelled Alaric to be a vampire, and not just an vampire, but an Original one. And his only mission would be to kill the Original family, getting of rid of all the vampires in the world, once and for all.
With everything that had happened and all of her former friends hating her for sticking by Klaus' side, Violet took to writing a heartfelt letter to the history teacher, hoping that he would be able to read it before anything fatal could occur.
Klaus grinned. "We're strange bedfellows, you and I. You know, all of this, reminds me of our time together in the Twenties."
The youngest Salvatore chuckled bitterly. "You say that like I'm supposed to have happy memories about it."
"Well, there were moments. Real friendship. Brotherhood." Klaus is cut off by Damon, who walks towards them with an annoyed look. "Well, he already has a brother. Not to be, you know, territorial or anything."
"Oh no, of course, the Salvatores. And their unshakeable bond." Klaus mocks with laugh. Damons smirk falters as he is clearly effected by the hybrids words. "I wonder what'll happen when Elena finally makes her choice. Will we see you shake just a little bit?
Bonnie then emerges from the school, her face expressionless. "It's done. Esther's not fighting me any more. The boundary spell is broken."
Violet stands up as Klaus tests the boundary with his arm, holding up a finger for him to wait. "Damon." She calls out, catching their attention.
The eldest Salvatore looks down at the blonde with raised eyebrows. Her eyes flicked down to her feet before holding out the folded picture of paper. "Can you just..give this to Alaric. And tell him that I'm sorry," Tears gather in her eyes as she looks over at Stefan and Bonnie. "For everything."
They all silently nod at her and, in the blink of an eye, her and Klaus are gone.

Violet stands next to Klaus as he rips the dagger from Rebekah's chest, intertwining her hands with his when he steps back to his mothers coffin.
"Your trap failed, mother." He muttered to her body, both of the soulmates glaring at the dead woman. "I live and I will go on living. Let your beloved spirits try to preserve you again, I dare you to come after me. I will build an army so big, no one will ever touch me. My survival will haunt you through eternity. You will never destroy me!"

yAY AN UPDATE FINALLY I KNOW. yes I know I skipped like three episodes and yes it was intentional. The episodes I skipped just didn't have much Klaus in them so to speed things up, I skipped them. And to all of you who are wondering, I am planning to make a sequel to this that takes place in The Originals. You're welcome. Also p.s. I just re-dyed my hair blue and I love it ok that's it bye.
