WITH A CLENCHED JAW, Klaus pulls the dagger from his chest and dropping it on the ground, the sound of metal clanking on the ground echoing through the warehouse.
At his sisters glare, he smirks slightly. "Don't pout. You knew it wouldn't kill me."
"No, but I was hoping it would hurt more." She growls. Finally noticing Violet's presence, Rebekah turns her head and immediately after she rushes towards the human and pins her by the neck against the nearest wall.
"Who the hell are you?" As Violet struggles to breath, Rebekah suddenly gasps and let's go of her neck, turning to her brother. "Is this..?"
The hybrid nods, sending a concerned glance over to Violet who is panting heavily and massaging her neck. Rebekah turns back over to the human. "Oh, I'm sorry, darling, I didn't realize who you were." She apologies.
"You know who I am?" Violet questioned. The female Original nodded her head. Before she could say anything, Klaus interrupted them with an annoyed sigh. "Can we get back on topic please?"
Rebekah sends him a glare. "Did you not here me before? I said go to hell." The blonde vampire pivots on her heel and walks away, her brother following.
"I understand that you're upset with me, Rebekah..." He places a hand on her shoulder and they both stop. "So I'm going to let that one go. Just this once. Brought you a little piece offering." Klaus looks over at the entrance to the warehouse. "You can come in."
Violet watched curiously as Rebekah whispered Stefan's name when he walked in. She could tell that the Original was very much in love with the younger vampire in the twenties. And Violet felt a bit guilty as she thought of what a cute couple they could be now if it weren't for all the Klaus has done, and because of Elena still being in the picture.
Klaus approaches Stefan, looking into his eyes and whispering, "Now you remember."
The Salvatore boy closes his eyes for a second and then stares at Rebekah as if she was just some hallucination. "Rebekah."
As he slowly walks towards Rebekah, Klaus calls his name. "Stefan." The vampire turns as looks at the hybrid in disbelief. "I remember you. We were friends."
"We are friends." Klaus corrects as he places a hand on Stefan's shoulder and gives it a friendly squeeze.
"Now the reason you're here." He says to his sister. "Gloria tells me, you know how to contact the Original Witch."
Rebekah raises her eyebrows. "The Original Witch?"
"What do you have that Gloria needs?" Klaus questions. The female vampire lifts her hand to her neck as if reaching for something, but only touches skin as a startled expression forms on her face. "Where's my necklace? What did you do with it? I never take it off!" She asks frantically.
Klaus rolls his eyes. "I don't know. I didn't touch it." Violet, too engrossed in the fight between the siblings, doesn't take notice of the look of realization that crosses Stefan's face.
"We need to find it, Nik. Now, I want it back." Rebekah exclaims.
"Tell me that's not what she needs, Rebekah!" The hybrid yells angrily, grabbing hold of his sisters shoulders.
Rebekah quickly yanks his hands from her and stomps over to the coffin, searching inside for the piece of jewelry. Violet flinches as the blonde vampire yells in frustration and flips the coffin over, causing it to loudly break into pieces.
━
Violet and Rebekah each stand in a dressing room of the random store they had picked. Since all Rebekah had to wear was her flapper dress from the twenties, she needed a new wardrobe to fit into the new era. Unfortunately for the human, that meant that she was forced by Rebekah to also try on some clothes as well.
"There has to be more to this dress." Rebekah complained from her dressing room. Klaus rolled his eyes. "There's not."
The female Original steps out from behind the curtains, walking out in short black dress that was low and wide at the collar, revealing most of her chest. "So women in the 21st century dress like prostitutes, then." Her brother raises his eyebrows in amusement. "You know, I got dirty looks for wearing trousers."
"You wore trousers to women today could wear nothing." Klaus retorts causing Violet to roll her eyes though no one could see her.
Rebekah looks up at the speakers on the ceiling in disgust. "And what is this music? It sounds like a cable car accident."
"It's dance music." Stefan explains. The older vampire looks at him. "People dance to this?" Stefan hums.
Klaus looks at his sister in annoyance. "Are we done?" The blonde vampire struts over to him. "And why are you so grumpy?"
"I needed one things from you for my witch to find out why my hybrids are dying, one thing. You're necklace. And you lost it." He replies with a sarcastic smile. "I didn't lose it. It's just been missing for 90 years."
She looks over to her former lover. "So what do you think?" She turns her body 90 degrees, allowing Stefan to get a full view of her outfit. "I like it." Rebekah gives him an unamused look. "What?" He smiles. "I said I like it."
Rebekah glares at him. "I can always tell when you're lying, Stefan."
Stefan throws his hands up, looking over at Klaus. "Nice one, good work." The hybrid sarcastically tells him.
"You're the one that pulled the dagger out of her." He retaliates. "I heard that." Rebekah calls from her dressing room. A few seconds later she emerges from her dressing room in a regular modern outfit and smirks at her brother. "Well, I refuse to leave until one good thing comes from this shopping trip." She looks over at the other dressing room, where Violet had stood for the last few minutes. "Violet, sweetie, come out and show us your outfit."
"I don't know, Rebekah." Violet says as she stares at herself in the mirror with uncertainty. "Oh come on, love. It can't be that bad." Her soulmate spoke.
Hesitantly, Violet steps out, looking down at her hands that were clasped in front of her causing her to miss the way Klaus' breath hitched in his throat and his eyes slightly widened.
Rebekah had picked out a solid black skater dress that was mid thigh length and had regular short sleeves. Violet sported some red Doc Martens, along with a flower crown of roses that matched with her usual red and silver necklace. The younger Original looks at her brother and smirks knowingly.
Looking up at the three vampires through her eyelashes, Violet gives them a tight lipped smile. Rebekah smiles at her genuinely. "You look wonderful, darling. Right, Nik?"
Violet turns her attention to her soulmate and blushes at his unwavering gaze. After a moment, the corners of Klaus' mouth turn up into a small, fond smile and he nods. "You do look beautiful, flower."
Stefan notices the humans cheeks grow slightly more pink and the equally fond gaze directed at the hybrid. If only everyone from Mystic Falls could see what he was seeing, he thought to himself.
To break the silence, Stefan placed his glass of champagne on the table in front of them. "Alright. I'm gonna get some fresh air."
━
Violet and the two siblings turned their heads when Stefan entered the empty bar. While Stefan was out doing god knows what, the other three had left the store and made their way back to Gloria's bar for the witch to attempt to locate Rebekah's missing necklace.
"You left us." Rebekah told the younger vampire.
"Yeah, sorry." Stefan apologized. "Retail therapy was making my head explode." He explained causing his former lover to narrow her eyes at him.
Klaus rolled his eyes. "Tell me about it." He grumbled. Stefan craned his neck to look at the witch who was currently sitting quietly, performing her spell. "What's she doing?"
"She's failing." The hybrid replied with an annoyed smile.
Gloria spared him a glance. "It's hard to find something when you don't have anything to go on."
"So use me." Rebekah suggested as she swung her legs off of the bar. "I only wore it for a thousand years." The female vampire hopped off the the bar and strutted over to the table littered with candles and took a seat on the wooden surface.
"See? Now this one offers a solution. All right, give your hand, sweetheart." The two older females locked hands and Gloria began to chant quietly in Latin.
Stefan looked at them with an unreadable expression. "She's uh, she's looking for the necklace, huh?"
Violet watched curiously as the witch worked her magic to find he piece of jewelry. Back in Mystic Falls, she always loved to see Bonnie doing what she does best and use her gift to do countless things that helped the group of friends in their times of need.
After a moment, the chanting stopped and Gloria pulled her hand from Rebekah's. "I found it."
Rebekah looked at her expectantly. "So where is it?"
The witch shook her head. "It doesn't work like that, doll. I get images. There's a girl with her friends-"
"Yes, a dead girl with dead friends if I don't get my necklace back."
"Well, I'll have to dive back in to get he details." Klaus got up from his seat, Violet following sensing that they were about to leave. "So dive."
"I need more time." Gloria said giving Klaus a look. The Original placed his hands on the table and leaned causing the witch to sigh. "And space. You're harshing my juju."
Klaus looked at her impatiently. "We can wait."
"I'm sure you can." She said passively. "But that's not what I asked."
Stefan then stepped up, placing a hand on his former friends shoulder. "Hey, you know, why don't we just come back later. I'm hungry anyway. I'll let you pick who we eat."
The two Originals smirked and followed the younger vampire. Violet fell behind a few steps, her mind flooding with thoughts that all centered around her worry for Stefan's self control.
━
Violet flinched at the sound of Klaus' teeth puncturing the skin of a random girl they had picked up off the streets of Chicago.
Klaus and Stefan greedily drank from the necks of the girls while Violet attempted to distract herself with her phone.
"My girls dead. I'm bored." Rebekah complained from her seat on the table.
The hybrid pulled his pace away. "You weren't kidding about being hungry." He said to the green eyed vampire across from him.
"Yeah." Stefan replied, his face fully vamped out with a drop of blood outside of his lips. "It's been a long day."
"Try being related to her." Klaus uttered, gesturing with his head to his sister. Rebekah glared at him. "You're being mean." Her words caused Stefan to laugh and she turned her glare to him. "And why are you being mean? You used to love me."
The older Mikaelson sighed in annoyance. "It's been 90 years, Rebekah. Give him a minute."
"Why are you taking his side." She asked defensively. "Because, my dear sister, I feel pity for any man who doesn't give you what you want."
Her glare only seemed to harden as her voice grew louder. "Will you stop making me out to be a brat? I am not a brat!"
"A thousand years old life experience says otherwise." Violet lifted her hand and hit her soulmate in the shoulder. "Nik, she's you're sister don't be rude." She scolded making Rebekah smiled triumphantly.
Stefan chuckled. "Well you're not picnic either." He said to the hybrid. "I mean I've only spent one summer with you and I feel like I want to blow my head off." The two girls both giggled.
"Fantastic." Rebekah grinned.
The youngest vampire in the room pushed the dead girls body off of his lap and stood from his seat. "I need to go."
Everyone's eyes followed him as she exited the warehouse. "Where's he going?" The female Original asked quietly. "To write a name on a wall." Her brother replied. Rebekah looked to the other blonde girl for an explanation.
"It's a long story." Violet said.
━
After the soulmates had gone back to the bar to check on Gloria, they found that the witch had disappeared and quickly made their way back to the warehouse where they were hoping Stefan had gone back to after his trip.
"Gloria's gone, she's cleared out. We need to find a new witch immediately." Klaus told them as soon as they entered the building.
Seeing their former lovers expressions, he stopped in his tracks. "What's going on?"
Rebekah gave her brother a look. "Something's wrong. He was asking about Mikael." Violet felt Klaus tense from their close proximity and followed his glare to Stefan.
"He's not with us, Nik. I can sense it."
With a slightly panicked expression, Stefan looked over at the hybrid. "She's wrong. Klaus.."
Klaus quickly sped over and snapped Stefan's neck, allowing Rebekah to take him away. Violet worried for what she might do to him after finding out that he had been hiding something but she couldn't really blame her. Whatever Stefan was hiding was unknown to her as well so she couldn't necessarily defend him.
When his sister had left, Klaus turned sharply and looked at his soulmate. "If you know what Stefan is hiding I need you to tell me."
Violet shook her head with wide eyes. "Nik, I swear I have no idea." When his look of anger increased she unclasped her vervain necklace from her neck, knowing that he knew that she hadn't consumed vervain in months. "Here. Compel me. I cross my heart, I have no idea what he's hiding."
Klaus hesitantly took the jewelry from her hands and placed his palm against her cheek, looking into her eyes.
"Do you know what Stefan has been keeping from me?" He compelled.
"No." Violet told him in a monotonous voice. "I don't know what Stefan has been keeping from you."
After Klaus was sure that Violet was being honest, they quickly left Chicago in the same truck they were in before. Klaus and Violet sat in the driver and passenger seats while Rebekah and Stefan were in the storage part of the truck. The human would every once in a while painful screams and thuds but she ignored them as best as she could.
The Original refused to tell her where they were headed, only making her more eager to know. When they arrived at their destination, Klaus ordered his sister to do something, Violet couldn't hear what, and the soulmates stayed in the back of the storage truck waiting for Stefan to wake from his unconscious state.
The blonde human jumped a bit when the sandy haired vampire gasped awake, backing away cautiously when his eyes landed on Klaus.
"Just give me a chance to explain myself, okay?" He said in a defensive manner, holding up his hand.
"No need." Klaus told him with a curious smile. "I'm not mad, I'm just curious. Rebekah seems to think you're holding onto something. A piece of your old life." Violet examined Stefan's expression, not being able to really read it but she did see that his eyes held a series of emotions. "The thing is, she's got flawless instincts; borderline supernatural. So I thought I would check it out. See for myself what it is you've been hiding.
Klaus stood up followed by Violet and Stefan, both shielding their eyes from the rays of sun that entered the formerly dark space.
It only took a second of looking around for Violet to realize that they were back in her hometown.
"Welcome back to Mystic Falls, Stefan."
━
"Nik, what are we doing here?" Violet questioned as Klaus hurriedly pulled her through the hallways of her high school.
The hybrid sighed and the two of them were pulled into a stop. He turned and looked at the girl with an apologetic look. "I'm sorry." He told her.
Violet's eyebrows furrowed as she looked up at her soulmate. "Sorry for w-"
But before she could blink her vervain necklace had been ripped from her neck. "I want you to go the gymnasium and stay there until I tell you otherwise." With glazed over eyes, the blonde girl nodded and began to mindlessly make her way through the school.
When the entered the gym, she was met with many other students laying out plastic cups filled with water across the floor. Remembering that tonight was Senior Prank Night, she smiled sadly. Since freshman year her and the rest of the group of friends had been looking forward to finally become seniors and be apart of supergluing things to teachers desks and various other pranks that teachers would have to face on the first day of school. It made her miss her friends more than she did before, just the thought of not being able to enjoy this night like she had thought she would.
Violet sat on the bleachers, watching everyone set up the cups before they were interrupted by Klaus himself along with someone who Violet didn't expect to see.
"Attention seniors! You have officially been busted, prank night is over! Head on home." He called in a faux American accent, causing all the students to groan and began to leave the gym.
The blonde girls eyes widened and she felt tears come to her eyes at the sight of her very alive best friend. "Elena?"
Said doppelgänger looked up, startled but also looked relieved to see her friend safe and well. "Violet!"
Klaus ignored the exchange between the two girls and stopped the students Violet recognized as Dana and Chad. "You two! I remember you."
"I'm sorry, who are you?" Dana asked, confused.
"Oh, don't worry, I wasn't in my right head the last time we met." His eyes dilated as he began to compel them. "Dana, lift your foot up, please. If she drops her foot, Chad, I want you to beat her to death. Understood?"
The blondes heart dropped as she heard the words fall from his mouth. At some point during their time together, she had convinced herself that he wasn't a psychotic murderer. But now it was impossible to dismiss what she was witnessing with her own eyes.
"Don't, Klaus. You don't have to hurt anybody." Elena protested.
"Oh, come on, love," Klaus smirked. "Of course I do."
Dana began to whimper as keeping up her foot became increasingly difficult. "Keep it up." Klaus encouraged.
"Where's Stefan?" Elena spoke up. "What did you do to him."
The Original rolled his eyes, glancing at his soulmate for a split second and trying his hardest to ignore her fearful expression. "Stefan's on a time out."
Suddenly, the door to the gym opened and entered Bonnie and Matt. "Bonnie get out of here!" Violet yelled. Klaus may be her soulmate, but she was not going to aid him in hurting her friends.
"Violet?" Bonnie whispered just before Klaus sped in front of her, startling the young witch. "I was wondering when you'd show up. Now we can get started." His gaze snapped to the two students he had recently compelled. "Ah, Dana, why don't you and Chad sit tight."
Klaus looked back down at Bonnie with his usual intimidating stare. "I assume you're the reason Elena is still walking around alive?"
"That's right. If you wanna blame someone, blame be." Bonnie responded confidently.
"Ah, there's no need for blame, love. Just your witchy interference seems to have caused some undesirable side effects and since you caused the problem, I'm going to have you find the fix."
For the third time since Violet arrived with the Originals, the gym door opened only this time it was Rebekah holding a struggling Tyler that entered. "Get off me!" The werewolf growled. "Hush now."
"I'd like you to all meet my sister." Klaus introduced causing the female vampire to smirk slightly. "Word of warning--she can be quite mean." Rebekah glared at her brother. "Don't be an ass." She said before shoving Tyler towards him.
"Leave him alone!" Elena demanded through gritted teeth.
Violet stared nervously as Klaus pulled Tyler so he was in everyone line of sight. "I'm going to make this very simple--every time I attempt to turn a werewolf into a vampire hybrid, they die during the transition. It's quite horrible actually," He spoke before biting into his wrist and forcing his blood into Tyler's mouth. "I need you to find a way to save my hybrids, Bonnie," Klaus said as Tyler struggled in his grip. "And for Tyler's sake, you better hurry." With a quick movement of his arms, Klaus snapped Tyler's neck making the teenagers in the room all gasp as they watch their friend fall dead.
"He killed him." Matt said quietly, still in shock from seeing his best friend get killed.
"He's not dead," Violet spoke up, causing everyone looked up at her. "Klaus' blood will turn him into a vampire." She informed them.
Klaus hopped off from his seat that was a few bleachers down from Violet's. "And if Bonnie's successful, he'll live through his transition. Go on, then. Go and fetch your grimoires and enchantments and what-not. I'll hold onto Elena..for safe keeping." He told them as him and Rebekah approached the group.
Elena nodded at her friends and Bonnie and Matt left the gym, leaving Elena and Violet with the two Originals.
"So this is the latest doppelgänger." Rebekah suddenly observed making Elena jump. "The original one was much prettier." She insulted, looking the brunette up and down.
"Enough, Rebekah." Klaus groaned. "Take the wolf boy elsewhere, would you?" Rebekah smiled falsely at Elena and did as her bother said, dragging Tyler out by the arm.
"Just ignore her. Petty little thing."
━
As Elena tended to the frightened Dana and Chad, the double doors opened to reveal Stefan as he hesitantly entered.
"Stefan..." Elena spoke softly as she stood up.
"Come to save your damsel, mate?" Klaus asked with a glare.
Stefan slowly approached them. "I came to ask for your forgiveness. And pledge my loyalty."
Violet eyed her soulmate wearily. She knew that he wouldn't hurt her, especially not after he constantly assured her that he wouldn't do no such thing. But of course, he didn't care about hurting her friends no matter how much they meant to her. She just wished he realized it sooner before she convinced herself that he wasn't as bad as people thought.
"Well, you broke that pledge once already."
"Elena means nothing to me anymore." Stefan spoke coldly, glancing at said doppelgänger. "And whatever you ask of me...I will do."
Klaus looked at the younger vampire for a moment before smirking and stepping down from the bleachers. "Fair enough. Let's drink on it." The hybrid said. "Kill them." He demanded, pointing at Dana and Chad.
The two teenagers got up quickly, backing away slowly in fear. "What are you waiting for? Kill them."
"No, Stefan, don't." Elena protested. "He's not going to hurt me. He already said--" But she was cut off by Klaus speeding over and backhanding her hard enough to send her to the ground. This caused Violet to abruptly stand in her seat and Stefan to attempt attacking Klaus.
"She means nothing to you?" Klaus questioned with his hand around Stefan's throat. "You're lies just keep piling up."
"Let her go! I'll do whatever you want, you have my word!" Stefan rasped out.
Klaus only glared at his and tightened his grip. "Your word doesn't mean much. I lived by your word all summer, during which time I never had to resort to this--stop fighting." He began to compel him.
Stefan shook his head rapidly. "Don't do this. Don't do this." He pleaded.
Violet felt helpless as she watched on but she knew that interfering would be worse than letting Klaus do what he was about to do.
"I didn't want to. All I wanted was your allegiance. Now I'm going to have to take it." Stefan began to protest pleadingly but his words were ignored. "You will do exactly as I say. When I say it, you will not run, you will not hide, you will simply just obey."
The blonde human held in a whimper as she watched the what was left of Stefan's control fade from his eyes as he waited for Klaus' orders.
"No! Stefan!" Elena whispered helplessly as she stared at her lover.
"Now kill them," Klaus ordered. "Ripper."
Stefan's eyes began to transform as his fangs elongated, using his enhanced speed to grab a hold of Dana and bite into her neck, quickly draining the blood out of her and letting her fall to the ground, dead.
"It's always nice to see a vampire in his true element." Klaus said as he crouched next to Elena who was staring at her boyfriend in horror. "The species has become such a broody lot."
"No. You did this to him." The doppelgänger spat as Stefan turned around, wiping the blood on his face with the back of his hand. "I invited him to the party, love. He's the one dancing on the table."
The door bust open as Rebekah entered with a furious look in her eyes. "Where is it?! Where's my necklace?"
"What are you talking about?" Klaus questions his sister. "She has my necklace, look." Rebekah held up what looked to be Caroline's phone and showed him a picture of Elena and Stefan where Elena was clearly wearing the piece of jewelry.
"Well, well. More lies." The Original said as him and his sister glared at the lovers.
The female vampire scowled at the brunette. "Where is it?" She asked in a deadly tone. "I don't have it anymore."
"You're lying!" Rebekah yelled and sped over, sinking her fangs into Elena's neck.
"Rebekah, stop!" Violet protested as she made her way town the bleachers quickly. "Knock it off!" The hybrid yelled as he pulled detached her from the human.
"Make her tell me where it is, Nik!" She demanded. Klaus sighed through his nose and turned to the wounded doppelgänger. "Where's the necklace, sweetheart? Be honest."
"I'm telling the truth. Katherine stole it." She told them.
Klaus smiled bitterly. "Katerina. Of course. Well, that's unfortunate. If we had the necklace it was make things a whole lot easier for your witch, but since we're doing this the hard way, let's put a clock on it, shall we?"
He walked over to the machine and hit a button, the timer the school used for the basketball games lighting up and producing a buzzer sound. "20 minutes. If Bonnie hasn't found a solution by then, I want you to feed again. Only this time, I want you to feed on Elena. You know you want to."
"Nik, please don't." Violet whispered quietly, knowing that Klaus could hear her. But her words we're ignored. "Klaus! Don't do this to him!" Elena begged.
"No one leaves. If she tries to run, fracture her spine. Violet, come with me."
Violet sent her friends a look of fear and worry as she was dragged by the arm gently away from the gym.
━
Klaus had put Violet in the room where Caroline had been waiting for Tyler to resurrect, leaving her with Rebekah. Tyler would wake soon with a thirst for blood so the Original make sure to tell his sister to keep Violet from harms way.
As the blonde Original messed with Caroline's phone, the transitioning werewolf gasped awake, the vampire shushing him comfortingly. "Where am I? What happened?" He questioned frantically.
"Don't be shy about it." Rebekah spoke making their heads snap to her.
Tyler panted heavily as he looked up at Caroline. "What's going on?"
"Klaus is turning you into a vampire. A hybrid." The only human in the room explained. "You're in transition." The youngest vampire finished softly. Tyler looked up at his girlfriend in disbelief.
"Don't leave out the hard parts, sweets." Rebekah told her. "You'll only survive if your witch is successful. If not...you're pretty much dead."
Violet sighed and ran her hands tiredly down her face. "You're not helping, Bekah."
Caroline furrowed her eyebrows at the nickname Violet had for the Original but said nothing and instead looking at Tyler. "You're going to be ok. Ok? It's gonna be ok." She assured him with a shaky voice.
"I wonder how she's doing." Rebekah turned the phone so the screen faced them showing the timer on two minutes. "Tick tock goes the gym clock."
━
"Well, the verdicts in. The Original witch says the doppelgänger should be dead." Klaus said as he entered the room.
"Does that mean we can kill her?" Rebekah asked excitedly. "No, I'm fairly certain it means the opposite." He responded.
The female Original quickly grabbed Caroline and restrained her from helping her boyfriend.
"Call it a hunch--" The hybrid said as he leaned down and held a test tube filled with blood. "Elena's blood. Drink it."
"No! No, no, no, Tyler, don't!" Caroline protested as she struggled in Rebekah's grip.
"Caroline, if he doesn't feed he'll die." Violet said quietly to her friend. Her and Tyler were never close even after knowing each other since childhood, but she certainly didn't want him to die because he refused to try the only thing that may keep him alive. "Consider this an experiment." The oldest male said.
Tyler reluctantly took the tube and shakily brought it to his mouth, swallowing the crimson liquid. The werewolf gagged and his body began to spasm as he dropped to the floor. Tyler grabbed his head in pain and he screamed, panting heavily. Suddenly he looked up and paired with his golden irises and canines, were dark veins that protruded from under his eyes and fangs that sat right next to his canines.
"Well, that's a good sign."
━
okay I know that was kind of a sucky place to end it but there wasn't really a part where I thought Violet would fit in so that's the end I guess. Since I'll be starting the first part of exams soon at school, I'm going to attempt to update again tomorrow but no promises. Love y'all!
