ix.
IN THE SMALL TOWN OF MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE, a young woman walked out of her house, yelling for her dog.
"Rudy!" She brought her fingers up to her mouth, whistling loudly. "Rudy! Come on! It's too hot to make me come looking for you." She said as she bent down to pick up a dog toy from the grass. When she stood back up, Klaus and Violet stood there. Klaus with his arm wrapped innocently around her waist and both with friendly grins plastered on their faces.
The woman jumped with a small gasp. "We are so sorry. Didn't mean to scare you." Klaus told her with a faux American accent.
"Can I help you?" The girl glared. "Yeah, our car ran down a couple of miles back. It feels like we've been walking forever. Yours is the first house we've come to, so we were just hoping that we could use your phone." Violet spoke up sweetly.
The still nameless girl eyed them down. "Don't either of you have a self phone. Violet pulled hers from her back pocket and waved it in front of her. "Dead. And my boyfriend here," she pointed to Klaus. "Forgot his at our home." Klaus pretended to smile sheepishly and shrugged, not bothering to conceal his grin at the fake title. At the girls hesitance, Klaus sighed. "Look, I promise neither of us are serial killers. We just want to use your phone." He insisted.
Finally, she sighed. "Sure." She turned to walk away so Klaus spoke up. "So..we can come in?"
"No." The woman replied. "I'll be the phone and bring it out to you."
With his patience wore thin, Klaus glared and dropped his fake accent. "I though your country folk were supposed to be more trusting." He said with his normal, British voice.
"I'm from Florida." She bit back sassily.
"Well that explains it." He muttered before quickly speeding over to her and grasping her neck in his hands and began to compel her.
"Now, show us a little southern hospitality, sweet pea."
When the three of them entered the house, there was another woman. She was dark skinned with long, black curly hair, walking around the kitchen as she cooked.
"I bet you a hundred dollars that dog ran off to a house with air conditioning." She joked. But her smile quickly fell as she turn and saw her friend with tears streaming down her face, being held by Klaus with Violet by his side.
"What's going on?" She asked a bit fearfully.
"Please don't be alarmed." Klaus smirked. "I'm told Ray Sutton lives here."
The woman lifted her chin with confidence. "He's almost never here. He's on the road mostly."
"But I expect he makes it home...once a month." The hybrid said knowingly. She swallowed thickly, her eyes flickering from her friend to Klaus and Violet.
The corner of his mouth turned up. "That's what I thought. Where is he now?"
But Klaus was only met with silence. "If I have to make you tell me, it's going to be infinitely more painful for you." He said with a smirk.
The dark skinned woman glared before making a run for it, sprinting towards the door, only to be met with Stefan standing just outside. The woman screamed. "I love it when the run." The Original mused.
"He's in Tulley!" The woman finally admitted. "It's near the border. A bar called Southern Comfort. It's off highway 41." She said as tears threatened to spill.
"Thank you, my love. Now," He looked towards the girl from before. "May my friend come in your home?" The girl shook her head but still whimpered, "Yes."
Stefan opened the screen door, entering the house with a look that even scared Violet, though she knew Klaus would never let Stefan hurt her if he ever got too out of control.
"Kill this one quickly." He shoved the crying girl towards Stefan. "Make that one suffer. We'll be in the car."
Klaus lead Violet out of the house, the girl letting out a shaky breath. Her soulmate placed a comforting hand on her arm. "You did good, little flower. Thank you." She went to respond but flinched when she heard screams emit from the house, walking quicker to the car where she slid in a slammed the door shut.
Klaus followed not long after, sliding into the drivers seat and sighing at the sight of a distraught looking Violet. "Flower, how many times do I have to tell you? You've done nothing wrong."
"Klaus, we've been hunting down wolves for the past 2 and half months! Those girls were innocent and Stefan is slaughtering them as we speak! This isn't right! None of this is right!" She yelled as tears welled up in her eyes.
Klaus' face fell at the name. Although they hadn't gotten vey far at all into their relationship like Klaus had hoped, he did convince her to start calling him Nik and get her used to him calling her 'Flower' or 'little flower'. She rarely called him Klaus anymore but it did occasionally come out at times like this when she was upset with him.
"What Stefan and I do and have done to people is no where near right. But we're vampires it's who we are. You however are not like that. All you have done is aid me in getting information. You are not a killer and you will never be a killer. Do you understand?" When Violet refused to look at him, he picked up her chin gently with his fingers. "Do you?"
She nodded but tears began to flow quickly and Klaus was quick to pull her into his chest, rubbing her arm as she sobbed into his chest.
"I don't wanna do this anymore, Nik." She whimpered. Klaus quietly shushed her and placed a kiss on her hair.
"It's okay, my little flower. It will all be over soon."
↠
"I don't think I can do this."
Klaus and Stefan only rolled their eyes at Violet's self doubt. "Sure you can. All you have to do is go in their, sit next to him, and be your beautiful self." Klaus said. Violet felt herself blush but kept her face straight.
After a moment of silence, Violet released and breath and nodded. "Okay. Let's do this." She whispered more to herself than her companions.
The blonde walked away, taking one more look at the sign reading Southern Comfort in rusty red letters and and guitar in between them, entering the bar with her head help up.
Violet, Stefan and even Klaus–though he didn't know her as well as the other male–all noticed how much the teenage girl had changed over the last few months. Of course, she wasn't completely different. Violet was still cautious at times, quiet, reserved, and frankly, too nice for her own good. But anyone who knew her at all could see that she was more confident, what with Klaus constantly giving her compliments, telling her that she was smart and beautiful more times than she could count on both hands, her self esteem had boosted.
It felt good for her to have someone constantly remind her that she was beautiful and had a place in this world. Those weren't Klaus' exact words and the hybrid never realized how much he was helping her, but he was. Back in Mystic Falls, Violet didn't have anyone that treated her like Klaus did. She didn't have anyone to give her compliments or treat her like she was the only girl in the world.
Instead, Violet had a father who put her down and beat her, a mother who constantly chastised her over everything she did, and friends who were too blind to see what their friend was going through right in front of them.
Klaus was helping her in more way than one.
Violet just couldn't see that.
She ran her eyes over the bar, stopping when she spotted him and made her way over with a determined look in her eyes. When she reached the bar she sat down, handing over her fake ID Klaus had made especially for this occasion and ordering bourbon, knowing she wouldn't be drinking any of the drink and would end up just giving it to Klaus or Stefan.
As planned, the man she sat next to turned his head to look at her, blatantly checking her out with a smirk. "Hey there, darlin'" He greeted with a slight southern accent. Violet spared him a glance, remembering the tip Klaus had given her. "Act uninterested. It'll make him more determined. Trust me."
The mans smirk only widened more at the lack of attention she was giving him. He scooted his stool closer to hers. "Now, what's pretty little thing like you doing in a place like this?"
The blonde had to fight the urge to roll her eyes at the use of the cliche pick up line. From the other side of the bar, Klaus looked on with a glare. He was already regretting telling Violet to grab Ray's attention, hating the way that the werewolf was looking at her.
"Just passing by for a drink. Won't be staying long." Violet replied without looking at him.
Ray held out his hand. "My names Ray. Ray Sutton. What's yours."
But before Violet could answer, Klaus swooped with with Stefan right behind him. "Ah. So you are Ray Sutton."
The werewolf looked back and forth between Violet and the other two males warily. "Who are you?"
Klaus smirked. "I've been looking everywhere for the you." He wrapped an arm warping Violet's shoulders. "We started in Florida, Pensacola. I met a young chap there who you worked with before you moved to Memphis. Now he directed me to two lovely young woman. And they led me here to you."
Ray stepped off of his seat. "I think I'll be going." He went to leave but was stopped by Klaus. "Not so fast, mate. Your only just got here. Now your type are very hard to come by." Ray once again turned to leave but with this time stopped by Stefan. "Yeah I wouldn't do that." The vampire told him as he shoved him back.
The man flickered his eyes between the three. "Vampires."
"Your swifty swift, Ray." Klaus grinned. "Although, Violet here is a human, my friend over here, is a vampire. He's compelled everyone in the bar so don't look to them for any help. I however, I'm something else. A different kind of monster. I've got some vampire, I've got some wolf."
"You..what?" Ray choked out, the fear in his eyes clear as daylight.
"A hybrid Ray. I'm both. You see, I want to create more of me. Now you being the first werewolf I've come across in many a moon, pun intended, Ray, heh, I need you to direct me to your pack. So, where can I find them, Ray?"
Ray glared at them. "You can't compel me, it won't work." Klaus and Stefan shared a look and Klaus sat back in the stool Ray was previously in.
Stefan turned to the bar, taking out his wallet. "I need a Scotch On The Rocks, please." The vampire cleared his throat. "Tell you what, Ray. We're gonna play a little drinking game. Something I like to call, Truth or Wolfsbane."
"Oh, this is going to be fun, Ray." Klaus smirked.
━
Violet winced as Stefan threw another wolfsbane-covered dart at Ray, impaling into his collarbone.
"Ray, you can end this now, just tell me where your pack gathers for the full moon." Stefan told him as he pulled a dart from the werewolf's neck.
"I can't." Ray breathed as he tugged at his restraints. "I know, I know, you love by a code and all that. But see, he's not gonna let me stop until you tell me. And I do whatever he says. That's the way it goes around here."
Ray looked over at where Violet and Klaus were sitting, Violet with her head resting in her hands and Klaus once again with his arm around her shoulders and his feet rested on the table.
"So what, you just compelled an innocent girl to help you on your little mission?" Violet sighed and her soulmate smirked. "Oh no need to worry, Ray, my sweet little Violet here is here on her own will."
Before any of them could say anything, the woman Klaus had compelled approached them. "Hello, Mr. Klaus." Violet snickered and smiled innocently when Klaus gave her a look. "I have some information for you."
The hybrid gestured for the woman to go on. "You told me to tell you if I saw anything. I saw that guys brother, Damon, at the farmhouse." The woman told him.
Klaus grinned sinisterly making Violet start to worry. "Well, thank you, Claudine. You just tell your friends to keep up the good work with the neighborhood watch, huh?" She walked away quietly just as Stefan approached them.
"My brothers still on our trail?"
"He's getting closer." Klaus glared at him. "I'm gonna have to deal with that." The Original stepped away but Stefan quickly grabbed him arm in protest. "No, no, no. Let me handle it."
Klaus turned around and looked at the younger vampire with raised eyebrows. "Why should I let you leave?" He whispered darkly.
"Cause you know I'll come back." Stefan said a matter-of-factly. "Do I?" The blonde Original asked.
"You saved my brothers life." Stefan stated. "I'm in your service."
The hybrid rolled his eyes. "Oh, that all sounds so tedious and indentured. Aren't you having the least bit of fun?" He asked as he gestured towards the struggling werewolf with a grin.
Stefan ignored his comment. "I'll make sure that my brother doesn't bother us anymore."
When Klaus didn't respond, Violet gulped and spoke up. "Nik." He looked over at his soulmate, his hard stare softening when his eyes locked with hers. "Please let him go. He'll come back."
Stefan fought the urge to roll his eyes at the look of defeat on Klaus' face. The younger vampire hated that Violet and Klaus had become so close in the last few months. From the beginning, he had watched as one of his best friends would blush at the compliments Klaus gave her. As she melted under his stare and allowed him to constantly have his arm around her. As she seemingly forgot what kind of a monster he really was.
Of course, Stefan never voiced his thoughts, knowing that it was most likely some sort of soulmate instinct for her to be so comfortable around Klaus. Still, he feared that if they spent much more time together, that Violet would eventually end up falling for The Original Hybrid.
Klaus sighed with a clenched jaw. "Very well." But as Stefan goes to walk away, Klaus roughly grasps his arm and spoke into his ear, too low for Violet to hear. "But don't expect Violet to be able to get you privileges. You said so yourself, you do as I say. So don't push it."
Violet watched curiously at the two men, smiling softly when Stefan gave her a last nod of appreciation before leaving the bar.
A couple of hours passed, and Ray had finally informed Klaus of where his packed gathered for the full moon; The Smoky Mountains.
During those 2 hours, Violet went from ordering drinks from the bar, to playing on her phone and even falling asleep for a good 20 minutes before she was awoken by Ray's yells of pain. After that, she just sat at the table nearest to Klaus, trying to keep her eyes off of him and the werewolf.
"Ok. It's a three-step process, Ray. This is step one." Violet heard as she emerged from the bathroom of the bar. She sighed and smiled apologetically when Ray looked at her for help.
"I want you to drink from my wrist." Klaus said, circling the pool table that the werewolf was sprawled across.
Ray looked up at the hybrid with a glare. "I already told you where to find my pack. What more do you want from me?"
Klaus placed his hands on the edge of the table, leaning on them. "Have you been listening to a word I've been saying, Ray?" He put a pocket knife up to Ray's eye. "I have great plans for you." Then, in one swift motion, Klaus cut a slit on his wrist, putting his arm up to Ray's mouth and forcing the blood down his throat.
"He'll thank me for it later. There we go, atta boy!" Klaus cheered with a grin.
"What are you gonna do now?" Ray questioned as he panted. "It's time for step two, Ray." Violet looked away and flinched when she heard the sickening snap of the werewolves neck.
"You're back." She heard Klaus say and looked up to see Stefan. "Did you doubt me?" The green-eyed vampire asked.
Klaus shook his head. "Not for a second. I knew you'd pass the text. You still care for your brother; for your old life."
Stefan chuckled bitterly. "I don't care about anything anymore." He said as he took a seat next to Violet.
"You put on a good show, Stefan. I almost believe you. Let's hope for you brothers sake, he does. You never stop caring for family, do you?"
It's definitely possible. Violet thought to herself as she pondered Klaus' words.
"But every time you feed, the blood makes it easier to let go." Klaus whispered in Stefan's ear, the young vampire saying nothing as he stared straight ahead.
━
The next day, Violet, Klaus and Stefan were making there way up the Smoky Mountains, searching for Ray's pack of werewolves.
"You okay? Is Ray getting heavy?" Klaus teased with a smirk.
"I'm fine." The sandy-haired vampire grumbled.
"Are you sure about that? You know, we've been walking for quite some time now. If you need some water or a little sit-down..." Violet giggled quietly from behind them, though both of them with their advanced hearing heard her perfectly and Klaus grinned in satisfaction while Stefan rolled his eyes.
"You know, I get that we're, uh-we're stuck together, but if we could maybe just skip the chitchat, it'd be great." Stefan said as he slightly struggled with carrying the temporarily dead werewolf.
Violet sighed, deciding that she had heard enough of the two bickering to last her a few years. "So much brooding." Klaus spoke. "Your self-loathing is suffocating you, my friend."
"Maybe its cause I'm a little tired of hunting werewolves. We've been at it all summer." Stefan retorted.
Suddenly the two men came to a stop, looking into the distance. Violet came next to Stefan to see what had caught their attention, and her eyes landed on a group of people, all setting up what seemed to be some sort of campsite.
"Thanks to our pal, Ray, we found ourselves a pack."
The Salvatore began to make his way over to them, Klaus making sure that Violet stayed behind him before they followed.
Once he had grabbed all of their attention, Stefan dropped Ray onto the ground, a girl with short red haired quickly running over. "Ray! Oh my god!"
As another member of the pack stood next to her, the girl looked up at him with a glare, though you could clearly see the fear in her eyes. "Who are you."
Klaus took the opportunity to step forward, a smirk plastered onto his handsome face. "The important question is who am I." The girls eyes flickered to him. "Please, forgive the intrusion. My name is Klaus."
The two werewolves began to back away. "You're the hybrid." Klaus smirked.
"You've heard of me. Fantastic."
━
"It's fascinating, actually." The Original uttered. Him, Violet and Stefan all sat on a log, he youngest vampire and the human sitting quietly as Klaus spoke to the wolves.
"A werewolf who isn't beholden to the moon, a vampire who doesn't burn in the sun. A true hybrid." Violet felt that familiar feeling of guilt creeping up on her when she saw the redhead shake with fear.
Suddenly, a startled gasp caught everyone's attention and they looked over to see Ray awake and struggling to breath. "What's happening to me?" He gasped out.
Klaus gave his male companion a look. "Stefan."
Stefan smiled bitterly before lightly pushing Violet in Klaus's direction as he stood up. "Are any of you human? Your friend here needs human blood to complete his transition to vampire. If he doesn't get it, he will die."
"Doesn't take much." Klaus spoke up. "Just a sip. Anyone? A boyfriend, a girlfriend, along for the ride?"
"Why don't you use your little pet human there. She's been sitting there all quiet." The blonde man from before suggested with a glare towards the girl.
Stefan and Klaus both stepped towards her protectively. "If any of you are to harm her, me and my friend here will not hesitate to rip your heart from your body. Understand?" No one answered.
Klaus looked at the man with a sinister look in his eyes. "Wait a minute." There was a pause where all of the wolves stopped breathing. "You."
The hybrid swiftly grabbed the humans arm, taking a chunk from his forearm and shoving him to the ground where he was pinned down my Stefan. "No!" The redhead yelled and attempted to run forward only to be grabbed by the neck by Klaus.
"If you don't drink it, Ray, I will." Stefan growled to the heaving werewolf. "Problem is, I don't know how to stop."
"It's he new order, sweetheart." Klaus told the girl. "You join us, or you die."
She scowled at him with a glare. "I'd rather die than be a vampire."
Klaus' face began to vamp out. "Wrong choice." He bit into his wrist, forcing the girl to drink his blood before she fell limp in his arms. "She'll thank me for that later." The Original chuckled, snapping her neck swiftly.
The hybrid turned his body, licking some of the blood off of his fingers making Violet want to punch herself in the face for the inappropriate thoughts that flooded her mind at the sight of his vamped out face and golden eyes.
"Ok, who's next?"
━
Violet looked around at what used to be Ray's pack, all now dead, but with Klaus' blood in their system.
There," Klaus said as he pulled his now healed wrist from Derek's, the boy who made the retort about Violet, mouth. "Good as new. Now you relax, ok, mate? We're gonna need you when the rest of them wake up." He compelled.
The hybrid stood up, walking over the the log where Ray and Violet sat, Violet having scooted over when Ray went to sit, afraid that he would try and attack her, knowing that he knew that she was just a defenseless human that meant a lot to both of the men.
"They're dead." Ray breathed out as his body shook. "They're all dead."
"Ah, he's through his transition. He should be feeling better soon." Klaus stated as he examined the undead werewolf. "So is this your master plan? Build an army of hybrid slaves?" Stefan questioned with a bit of attitude.
"No, not slaves." The Original denied. "Soldiers. Comrades"
"For what war, might I ask?"
"Oh, you don't arm yourself for after war has been declared, Stefan. You built your army so big that no one ever dares pick the fight." He explained with a confident smirk.
Stefan cocked his head at the Original. "What makes you so sure that they'll be loyal?"
"Well, it's not difficult to be loyal when you're on the winning team. That's something you'll learn once you shake that horribly depressive chip off your shoulder." Klaus told him with a grin.
At that moment, Violet stole a glance at Ray and did a double take when she saw the tracks of blood pouring from his eyes. "Nik," She uttered quietly, catching the hybrids attention. "Look." She nodded her head towards the werewolf.
Stefan laughed bitterly. "That's why your keeping me around? To witness my attitude adjustment?" Klaus looked up at Stefan as he took a seat next to Ray, forcing the wolf to look at him. "You'll know why I'm keeping you around when I've decided that I want you to know."
"Something's wrong." Said Klaus as he released Ray's face. Stefan stepped closer to take a look, making a noise when he saw the blood. "That shouldn't be happening, should it?"
Klaus glared at him. "Well, obviously."
"You said it was gonna feel better?" Ray whimpered. "Why doesn't it feel better?"
"Some master race." Stefan said with raised eyebrows. "Lose the attitude." The blonde man demanded.
Another gasp was heard as the girl from before awoke, looking around with wide eyes. "Derek, come feed your girlfriend." Klaus called. But just as Derek held out his arm, a loud roar emitted from Ray's throat. The werewolf sped away, jumping onto some large boulders and climbing over them easily.
"Go get him." Klaus ordered fiercely.
Once the redhead had fed, Klaus went to go check on Stefan, forcing Violet to go with her, not trusting any of the wolves not to hurt her. "Where did he go?"
"He uh-he got away. Forget him, let's go." As Stefan shoved passed him, Klaus grasped a hand over his arm. "A fatal werewolf bite," Klaus smirked as he ignored Violet's gasp of horror. "Ouch."
"Yeah, I'm gonna need your blood to heal me." The younger vampire said, also ignoring Violet's concerned gaze.
"Well, I'll tell you what. You find Ray, and then I'll heal you." The blonde girl looked at her soulmate in disbelief and anger.
Stefan scoffed. "You can't be serious."
"You better hurry, cause that bite looks nasty." Without waiting for a response, Klaus walked away. Violet looked up at Stefan with an apologetic expression. "He'll give you his blood, I promise, Stef."
The vampire sighed. "I think you put too much faith in him, Violet. He may treat you like you're the love of his life, but he has no remorse for anything that he does. He's a monster. And no matter how much you think you are, you're not capable of changing him."
Violet glanced at the ground, hurt by his words and nodded while her lips formed a straight line. "Got it." She whispered and quickly turned to walk away. Stefan, realizing the harshness of his words went to call out for her but she was already gone to where Klaus had left to.
He sighed and ran a frustrated hand through his hair, glancing back at where she once stood, before speeding off to go find Ray.
━
"Bad news, my friend." Klaus spoke to a weak and confused Derek. "End if the road for you." Violet sighed as she looked up at her soulmate with a mild disappointed look. But he didn't meet her eye, too focused on his hybrids to notice.
The redheaded girl stepped forward, covered in some of Derek's blood and some of her own blood as well. "Careful, love. There's only one alpha here." Klaus warned.
The Original frowned as he watched all of his hybrids walk around in confused states. But his look grew murderous when the redhead looked at Violet with a hungry look in her eyes. "Bloody hell." Klaus growled as his face vamped out.
"Violet, I need you to run." He said. She looked up at him with scared and confused eyes. "W-what?"
"I need you to run! There's something wrong with them and I won't be able to protect you!" When she still hadn't moved from her frozen state, he turned to look at her and growled loudly. "I said run!"
Finally realizing what was happening, Violet took off as fast as she could, speeding up when she heard the sounds of bodies falling to the ground behind her.
Violet ran through the woods as fast as her legs could take her, looking back every so often to make sure she wasn't being followed by a wolf. She sprinted blindly, not being able to see very well due to the dark, the only light source being the large full moon in the sky. Suddenly she heard voices up ahead, and recognized one of them as Stefan's.
"Stefan! Stefan!" She called out in between pants of breath as she saw him along with another figure in a clearing. The blonde began to slow down as she got closer. "Stefan, oh my god, I've been running forever, I..." Her voice trailed off as her eyes landed on Damon, who stood there, looking at her with wide eyes. "Damon." She breathed.
He cracked a small grin at her. "Violet."
There was a pregnant pause where none of them knew what to say, until the youngest Salvatore finally spoke up. "Why don't you get home." Stefan said, being careful not to mention Elena, as Violet still believed that she had died in the ritual. The vampire looked back up at his brother. "See if you can stay there this time."
━
Stefan and Violet made there way back to the campsite silently, Stefan with a dead Ray on his shoulders and both a bit shook up from their encounter with Damon.
When they reached the clearing, there eyes landed on Klaus, sitting on the log with a beer bottle in his hands, surrounded by dead bodies.
"They went rabid." The hybrid stated as Stefan dropped Ray to the ground. "Some of them I killed, the others just...bled out." He spoke quietly with a distant look in his eyes. Klaus then stood up, walking closer to them slowly. "In the end...they're all dead."
Violet flinched back when Klaus yelled and threw the glass bottle at a nearby tree. "I did everything I was told!" He yelled with blind rage.
"I should be able to turn them." Klaus said darkly. "I broke the curse. I killed a werewolf. I killed a vampire. I killed the doppelgänger."
No one spoke as Violet felt tears come to her eyes at the mention of her apparently deceased best friend. Stefan however, looked at Klaus with wide, panicked eyes.
"You look like hell." Klaus commented to Stefan. "Last I checked, I'm dying," Stefan remarked. "And you don't want to heal me." He said as he held out his arm.
The Original hybrids gaze moved to Ray. "I had to take him out. I didn't have a choice." The leafy-eyed vampire explained. "I failed you. I'm sorry." Stefan took a step towards him. "Do what you have to do." Violet looked at her soulmate, fearful for what he would do to her friend. Klaus' eyes flickered between the two. "It should have worked." Stefan swallowed thickly.
Klaus turned and picked up and empty beer bottle, giving Stefan a look before chomping down on his hand and letting the blood drip into the bottle. The younger vampire looked on with furrowed eyebrows while Violet sighed in relief. "Bottoms up." Klaus handed Stefan who bottle who took it hesitantly. "We're leaving."
He motioned for Violet to come forward and she obeyed without a second thought, going to stand next to him. Klaus took one more look over his hybrid failures and then back up at Stefan and Violet. "It seems you two are the only comrades I have left."
The Hybrid turned to leave, placing a hand innocently on Violet's lower back when she caught up to him.
And then they were off.
