Chapter 47: Nightfall's Edge
After effortlessly taking care of the Nomu, I turned my attention to the other villains, who were still trying to regroup. The air was thick with tension, but I wasn't about to let them recover. With a snap of my fingers, I twisted the very fabric of space itself, warping the environment around me. Each of the remaining thugs froze, caught in the weight of my power as their bodies stiffened, unable to move.
Shigaraki and Kurogiri were the last two standing, both clearly unnerved by the ease with which I had dispatched their minions. The once-chaotic scene now felt almost serene, my magic weaving the world into my control. Aizawa and I stood side by side, panting but unharmed, sweat trickling down our faces. He looked over at me, his eyes narrowed in a mix of concern and begrudging respect.
"You're making this look too easy," Aizawa muttered, his voice rough from exertion.
I smirked, the corners of my lips curling into a confident grin. "I told you, Aizawa. I do whatever I want."
Shigaraki, who had been standing off to the side, watching in disbelief, finally recovered enough to speak. "You're... you're not human," he hissed, his red eyes flickering with confusion and fear.
I tilted my head slightly, the blindfold shifting ever so slightly to reveal the glint of my icy blue eye. "You got that right," I said, the words dripping with calm authority.
Kurogiri, who had remained largely silent up until now, spoke with his usual eerie calm. "This isn't over," he said, his hands weaving a portal between us, but before he could make a move, I snapped my fingers once more.
The rift closed immediately, and Kurogiri stumbled back, caught off guard.
"Don't bother," I said. "This ends when I say it does."
Aizawa stepped forward, his tired eyes still focused on the villains. He'd had enough of their tricks. "You heard her. You're out of options."
Shigaraki sneered, rage flickering in his eyes as he braced himself for another round. But he knew, deep down, that the battle had already been decided.
"You've underestimated me," I murmured, my voice a mix of amusement and finality.
As Shigaraki and Kurogiri exchanged glances, they seemed to realize something. They were outmatched. And for once, it wasn't by a hero. It was by someone who lived outside of their petty battles, a force of nature they couldn't comprehend.
The battlefield fell quiet, the villains left to simmer in their defeat as Aizawa and I stood ready for whatever came next.
But for now, the fight was over. And I had won.
The heroes soon arrived, with Thirteen leading the charge. They quickly swept through the area, securing the remaining thugs and preparing to apprehend Kurogiri and Shigaraki. I stood with my hands on my hips, watching the chaos unfold. There was a strange sense of calm in me—like I already knew how it would all end.
The police moved in, ushering the captured villains off to be detained. Kurogiri and Shigaraki, however, managed to slip away just in time, vanishing into the shadows as their escape portals opened. Shigaraki's red eyes locked onto mine for a brief moment, the unspoken challenge lingering between us, before he disappeared into the rift with Kurogiri.
I smirked, barely phased. It was far from over. But for now, the immediate threat was gone.
A police officer approached me, his face tight with confusion and concern. "Ms. Eternis, I don't have your name in any records," he said, his voice a little shaky. "Thirteen and Aizawa both say they don't know you, and so does All Might. Can you tell us who you are?"
I tilted my head slightly, feeling a flicker of amusement. The police were always so formal, so... predictable. "I'm Nyx Eternis," I said calmly, "And I think the real question is why none of you know who I am."
The officer hesitated, then glanced over his shoulder at Thirteen and Aizawa, who were conversing in low tones, clearly trying to process everything that had just happened. It was clear that they were as perplexed by my appearance as the rest of them.
Aizawa, still breathing heavily, walked over and gave the officer a stern look. "She's not a threat," he muttered, as if that would somehow explain it all.
Thirteen, ever the diplomat, stepped forward with a slightly forced smile. "We don't know where she came from, but she's not our enemy," she explained, her voice calm yet uncertain. "She helped us with the villains. That's all we know."
The officer, looking back and forth between the three of them and me, nodded slowly, clearly still trying to piece things together.
I sighed, tapping my foot lightly, the air around me practically humming with power. "Look," I said, crossing my arms, "I'm not from this world, but I'm not here to cause trouble. I'm here because I want to observe. You can call it curiosity, or fate—either way, I'm not your enemy. So, unless you plan on dragging me away for questioning, I suggest you focus on those two," I pointed toward the portal that had just closed, "and let me be on my way."
The officer, unsure of how to proceed, stood in silence for a moment before nodding once more. "Understood, Ms. Eternis. We'll be in touch."
I offered him a smile, then turned back toward Aizawa and Thirteen, feeling the tension begin to ease. "See?" I said to them, "All that worrying for nothing."
Aizawa shook his head, the faintest trace of a smile tugging at his lips. "Just stay out of trouble, Nyx."
I gave a small bow, my blindfold falling back into place over my eyes. "Don't worry, Aizawa. I do what I want, but trouble isn't my style."
With that, I turned and walked off, the weight of the day's events already fading into the background. One more battle won, and many more yet to come.

Me and Aizawa soon made our way back home, the quiet of the evening settling around us. Thanks to me, Aizawa didn't have many wounds to tend to. The few he did have were quickly healed with the flick of my fingers—my power making it seem almost effortless.
"I'm going to bed," he muttered gruffly, his usual stoic demeanor back in place despite the chaos of the day. I nodded, giving him the space he needed. As Aizawa disappeared inside to rest, I decided to take a moment for myself.
I sat on the porch, the cool night air wrapping around me, and stared out at the stars. A gentle breeze stirred my hair, and for a moment, I just let myself be—no blindfold, no responsibilities. It felt oddly peaceful, despite the danger that seemed to lurk around every corner of this world.
I could feel the pulse of the school in the distance—the students, the teachers, all of them living their lives, learning, growing. There was something intriguing about this place. Despite its flaws and its challenges, it was a place where strength could be honed, where power could be used for something greater.
After a few minutes, I stood, stretching out my arms and letting my gaze linger on the night sky. "This school... it's interesting," I mused aloud, a small smile tugging at my lips.
With that thought, I headed inside, ready to rest and prepare for whatever the next day would bring. Tomorrow would be another adventure, and I was more than ready for it.
