"Monsters. Everybody's afraid of them, right? But sometimes you have to ask yourself, if the monster you're so afraid of is really yourself?"

EVER SINCE THE last battle against the Foot Clan, the Mighty Mutanimals worked together with the Crystal Empire guards in strengthening the kingdom's defenses while also patrolling the areas of the forest. Both Splinter and Quill were healing nicely after their encounter against Super Shredder, even with the added help of the healing hands mantra from Leonardo and Henry. Splinter was even given a makeshift crutch for his broken foot so, it could heal properly.

As for Henry, he couldn't help but feel like his entire body felt off to him. He knew that it wouldn't be easy learning to control the wolf inside of him, but out of nowhere, it had suddenly grow tenfold harder. Every now and then, he could feel the wolf inside of him acting up, fighting every chance it got against the chains to break free and come out. What seemed to bothered him the most, or really grossed him out the most, was that he had a sudden craving for raw meat and all he wanted to do was go on a hunt for some deer.

But the thought of eating raw meat, it made his stomach queasy and he felt like throwing up.

It wasn't just that either. He couldn't help but notice that every little thing or every little mumble that Calista had was enough to piss him off and give him the urge to tear her a new one. With each time his ears had pricked at a mumble or whisper of hers, Henry could feel his fists closed tightly, trying to hold back the urge to start yelling at her as the animal side of himโ€” the wolf side of him wanted nothing more than to put the teenaged girl in her place, in hopes that would teach her to keep her mouth shut.

Although first, Henry would really like to know why he suddenly had a much harder time at controlling the wolf inside of him.

"Henry?"

Henry turned his head over his shoulder to find his little sister walking over to him, a slight nervous look in her eyes. "Pipes, hey," he said. "What is it?"

Piper bit the bottom half of her lip nervously, unsure of how to word it. She hadn't had the time to talk to her brother since she got there with the others because of the attack by Super Shredder and the Foot Clan and despite the fact that it seemed to be the perfect time to talk to him, she was still nervous.

"Um... do you... remember the night we confronted mโ€”Kris and dad about me?" Piper questioned, having to correct herself for a second. After learning the truth, she hasn't been able to see Kris the way that she did before discovering the truth.

For a split second, Henry could feel the wolf inside of him growl angrily from the mention of Kris and Jack.

"Piper, I swear, if you tell me that there's something else that theyโ€”"

"No! No, there's nothing else," Piper quickly said, before she paused for a second. "Well...nothing that I know of, but that's not what this is about. I... I know I wanted space from them, but how... how come you gave me space too? You just texted me to find you when I needed to talk, why?"

Henry blinked, confusion growing on his face. "Piper, what are you talking about? Why wouldn't I?"

"Because it's my fault that you didn't get to be a kid," Piper argued. "I mean, you were too busy taking care of me if you weren't hanging out with the turtles and Briana or Zane. And... and technically, because of this, we're not even..." she tried not to show it but her vision grew blurry with tears as she whispers the next words out. "We're not even related. I mean... Natalie's more of your sister than I even am."

The last few words left a bitter taste on her mouth. Although she (or Henry) has never actually say the words to each other, she did care about him and the thought of not having him as a big brother... she didn't like it. After all, she didn't know who she'd be if it wasn't for Henry.

A soft chuckle left Henry's lips and Piper couldn't help but stare at him with a confused look on her face, a small hint of fear in her eyes. Was he about to agree with her and want nothing to do with her?

"Is that why it took you so long to talk to me? Cause you thought that I wouldn't want to anymore?"

Piper only nodded.

"Okay, Pipes, look, that's not true, alright?" Henry told her. "It doesn't matter if we're not related, okay? You're always gonna be my little sister, so yeah, of course, I'm gonna be there for you."

"But Natalieโ€”"

"Natalie might be my little sister from Daniel, but you're still my little sister too," Henry cut her off seriously. "That's not gonna change just because we found out the truth. It's you and me, Pipes."

Piper stared at him as she fought back her tears, trying to keep them from falling. Before Henry could react, Piper had suddenly threw her arms around his waist for a hug, burying her face into her brother's shirt. Henry was taken aback at first before he wrapped his arms around his sister, returning the hug as Piper whispered out softly.

"You're the best big brother that I could ever ask for."

"ARE YOU SURE this is a good idea, guys?" Leonardo asked, watching as Donatello was hooking April up to a psychic neurotransmitter.

"Yeah, cause last time something like this happened, I ended up blind and mentally connected to a giant fish-bird-worm-thing." April added.

Genevieve looked confused. "What happened?"

"Long story," Briana said as she made the final adjustments to the machine that the helmet was hooked up to. "And don't worry, Leo, Donnie and I have upgraded it since then. It's perfectly safe... hopefully."

Leonardo raised a brow. "Hopefully?"

"Well, it's not her powers that I'm worry about," Briana said before she pointed at the crystal that April had around her neck. "It's that. Dr. Rockwell say that when he and April combined their powers, he could feel her psychic powers being amplified more than what should be possibleโ€” and no doubt it's because of the crystal."

"Yeah, well, maybe it can help us stop Super Shredder," April defended, suddenly holding the crystal more closely. "You all saw what he did, not even Splinter and Quill together could take him down! We need all the help we can get and my crystal can give it to us!"

"And that's what worries us. We don't know anything about it." Leonardo said.

Donatello looked over at April. "If we could just examine your crystal..."

April slapped his hand away and held her crystal closer. "No! I'm never taking it off! It's safe, as long as I have it!"

Briana, Donatello, and Leonardo blinked at the sudden hostility in her tone of voice. Genevieve, on the other hand, could've swore that the wolf inside of her growled lightly at the crystal.

Donatello then went over to the machine where Briana stood. "If we could replicate how this crystal increases your powers, that could provide a frame of reference..."

"Increase her powers!?" Leonardo questioned.

"Don't worry, only slightly," Donatello defended. "By... maybe 0.3 percent?"

Genevieve blinked. "I don't like how that sounds."

Briana turned the dial on the machine to try and tune it with April's powers. They waited for something to happen while April looked bored. "April, let us know if you feel anything, okay? Tingling, headacheโ€”"

"I told you, I'm fine. Just leave the crystalโ€”" April suddenly started screaming, her eyes turning white as everything in the room shot into the air. She grabbed her crystal as the objects started whipping around the room at an alarming speed.

"I knew this was a bad idea." Leonardo said, trying to make his way to April, letting out a startled yell when she turned to face him. April unleashed a psychic blast that flung all the objects and everyone around her back.

Then, everyone else ran into the room where they found April laying on the ground, unconscious while Briana, Donatello, Leonardo, and Genevieve were recovering from what happened. "What the heck happened here!?" Raphael questioned.

"Were you guys having another Super Smash Dance Party without me?" Michelangelo asked, but his question got ignored by everyone.

"April!" Mara and everyone else quickly ran over to the unconscious teenaged girl.

"What happened?" Eclipse asked.

"It's the crystal, we have to get it away from her," Briana said as she pulled the crystal over her friend's head but when she went to walk away, the crystal started moving around on its own. "Whatโ€” oh!" The crystal shot out of her hands, shocking everyone as it started to make its way back to April. "The crystal!"

Before the crystal could get to April, Henry slammed his hands down around it, trapping it between his palms. "I got it." He moved back to the table, nailing the string to it. The crystal still tried to get back to April, but the nail held it.

"That should hold it, for now." Donatello said.

"If that crystal did this, then let's just get rid of it." Casey suggested. "Problem solved."

"No, that crystal..." Twilight Sparkle said. "It's not just power inside of it. There's something alive in there as well."

"I can sense it as well," Splinter confirmed. "This entity has a strong hold over April's mind and spirit. If it were destroyed, it could risk grave harm to her."

"We'll find a way to sever its connection... somehow." Briana said.

"We will tend to April."

"I got her, sensei." Leonardo picked her up bridal style and carried April away from sight with Splinter and Twilight following right behind him. As they left, Derek snuck a glance at the crystal and frowned slightly, the wolf inside of him growling at the crystal.

There was definitely something wrong with it.

๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘

"PLEASE TELL ME that this isn't another 'beat the crap out of me' training session." Henry commented, staring at Daniel as the two of them along with Natalie were standing out in the grassy fields behind the castle. David, and Derek were with them as well.

Natalie blinked. "Uh, wait what?"

Daniel, however, chuckled at his son's words. "No, it's not. And frankly, I don't even think your wolf would let that happen again."

"So, what is this then?"

"It's harder to keep your wolf from coming out, right? A bit harder to stay in control?" Daniel questioned.

David snorted. "From the way the kid's looking at Diaz, I'll definitely say so."

Daniel gave him a small look. "David."

"Are you seriously going to tell me that he doesn't look like he wants to tear that girl to pieces?"

"I mean, I'm not struggling but I kinda want to tear her apart just to shut her up," Scott commented before looking over at his cousin. "No offense. I know she's your friendโ€”"

"Like hell she is." Henry interrupted as he crossed his arms over his chest. "I'm only putting up with Calista for Mara's sake because unlike her, Mara's my friend."

"See?" David asked, gesturing to his nephew while keeping his eyes on his brother.

Daniel only rolled his eyes at him before turning back to his children. "Well, the reason why you're struggling with control is because tonight's a full moon."

Natalie immediately gave a small groan of annoyance, yet there was a light flicker of fear in her eyes. "Oh, kill me."

Henry blinked. "You know, I think I prefer the 'beat the crap out of me' training session now."

Derek raised an eyebrow. "You haven't even experienced a full moon before."

"Natalie told me what it's like, and I don't want to."

"Well, you still have some time since the clouds are covering the moon." Derek said, pointing up at the sky.

"With everything that's going on right now, the last thing I need is turning into the wolf because of the full moon," Henry said.

"I know, but because you and Natalie are still new to itโ€”"

"I know, it affects us more cause we're still learning."

"Well, at least you'll be able to tear Calista a new one if she pisses you off," David said. "And knowing her and considering that tonight's a full moon, she probably will."

A look of annoyance falls over his brother's face as Daniel turns his head to look at him. "David."

"What? It's not my fault if the girl's signing her own funeral or if none of her friends actually like her."

Daniel only rolled his eyes at him as a small, annoyed sigh left his lips. Though, Henry couldn't help but looked a bit amused as he watched the exchange between Daniel and David.

THE GIANT MUTANT rat was meditating while April was laying in front of him, still unconscious. Twilight was using her magic to tend to April but as she did so, flashes appeared before her very eyes and the older woman saw images of strange alien creatures in robes inside of an temple or an unfamiliar planet when suddenly, the images changed to an Aeon taking on a monstrous form with dark blue eyes and razor sharp teeth.

A small gasp left Twilight's lips as she stopped using her magic to tend to April while Splinter was snapped out of his meditation, having seen the same flashes that his friend had seen.

Before either one could say something, April sat up quickly with a gasp, her hands going to her neck where her crystal should be. "Myโ€”my crystal!" She shouted, frantic. "Where's my crystal!?"

"April, calm down," Twilight Sparkle said. "Donatello and Briana are examining it while you rest."

"No!" April shouted, trying to scramble for the lab, only for Splinter to hold her back. "No, it's mine! I need it!"

"April," Splinter said firmly, standing to his feet. "You are addicted to that alien stone. You do not need its power. You must break its hold on you now."

April used her psychic powers to lift the two adults into the air, her eyes glowing white.

Meanwhile, Briana turned to her head to see that the crystal had began moving the table it was nailed to across the floor. "Oh, boy." She grabbed the string as the crystal freed itself from the nail. "No!" She yelped when it started dragging her. "Donnie!"

"No, no, no!" Donatello grabbed her, trying to pull her and the crystal back. The crystal pulled both of them out of the lab and towards the other room.

They crashed through the doors, Briana's grip on the crystal loosening as she fell onto the floor while both she and Donatello rolled to a stop. The crystal floated right into April's hands.

Donatello gasped as his eyes widened. "April! What are you doing!?"

April didn't answer as she lifted both Donatello and Briana into the air.

"April, you must hear me!" Splinter tried to reach out to her. "This being wants to control you! Fight it!"

For a second, her eyes returned to normal as April gave him a pleading expression. "Master Splinter... I... I can't... fight her! She's... too... strong!" Her eyes turned back to white as she threw them onto the floor, laughing before levitating herself into the air just as the others ran into the room, only for April to shot herself into the air through the roof and away from the kingdom.

"Father!" Karai ran to Splinter and helped him up as everyone else ran over to the others and helped them stand up.

"What the hell just happened!?" Kaz questioned. "Since when can April fly?"

"She's being possessed by something," Twilight Sparkle explained. "I've never felt a strong presence like that before. So much power with a hunger for more."

"How are we supposed to fight something that's possessing our friend though?" Zane asked.

"Ooh, maybe we can perform an exorcism." Michelangelo said. "Just like in that one movie!"

"Or we can just let whatever it is have April." Calista muttered bitterly underneath her breath, earning a sharp glare from Henry, who also clenched his fists as if he was trying to stay calm.

"All we have to do is find April. We can get through to her, I know we can!" Mara said, a look of determination was in her eyes while she could've swore that there was a bubble of concern for April growing in her stomach and all she could do was think about if she was okay.

However, Calista did noticed and she couldn't help but clenched her fists. Even if April was being possessed, it seemed like the only thing that her girlfriend could think about was April freaking O'Neil.

She hated that.

And yet, Calista didn't seemed to notice how Briana noticed the way that Calista had balled her fists from Mara's words, especially since she couldn't help but notice how as of lately, Mara and April seemed to be extra friendly with each other.

"Alright, we'll head out and find April. She couldn't have gotten far."

๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘

ABOVE THE FOREST and floating in the sky, the possessed April stopped until she was high enough and she could see everything from where she was. Through her voice, the entity that was possessing her laughed. "I'm free! I can feel the power in this kingdom. So many lives. Look at them. Like insects."

April's eyes returned to normal as she looked around, frightened. "What...? How did I get up here? I was withโ€”"

The possessing entity took control again. "Now, you are where you are meant to be, among the stars. I know you can feel all that power, especially from that friend of yoursโ€” Briana."

April knew that it was true, she could feel it; all of that power inside of her but it wasn't the only thing she felt. There were times where sometimes April had feel a darkness growing inside of Brianaโ€” a darkness that was trying to consume her, to consume the one place inside of her that held light.

Her heart, and to April, it felt like a battleโ€” a battle where the darkness inside of Briana wanted to snuff out the light from inside of her before consuming her whole.

A battle that was constantly raging on from inside of Briana.

"Imagine what we could do with that power on our side." The possessing entity laughed. "How much stronger we would be! We can make the entire world fear us!"

"No! She's my friend!" April shouted, trying to fight back as hard as she couldโ€” to take back control. "There's so many innocent people! My friends!"

"You don't need them anymore." The possessing entity stated. "I am all you will ever need. And with this power, we'll make the entire world fear us and punish those who deserve it."

๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘

OUT ON PATROL and scouting the forest with the guards and the Mighty Mutanimals, Scott sniffed the air to see if he could pick up the scent of anyone from the Foot Clan but nothing caught his attention that belonged to any of their enemies. He frowned lightly when his nose pricked at a scent that smelt familiar but at the same time, there was something off about it.

"Any luck?" Slash asked.

Scott shook his head. "Finding the Foot Clan? No, but there's something else. It smells familiar but at the same time, there's something... off about it."

"He's right," Pollyanna said, her own nose pricking at the scent that reached her scent of smell as well.

"Off how?" John asked.

"Like that." Josephine pointed over at something and everyone turned to see the possessed April hover closer toward the ground, glancing at each one of them with a sinister smile.

"She can fly?" Pigeon Pete questioned.

"April?" Slash questioned.

"That's not April." LeatherHead said as he, Josephine, Pollyanna, and Scott could feel it.

"April, what is going on?" Rockwell questioned.

"There is no April O'Neil. Only Za-Naron."

"Uh, Za what?" Mondo asked.

"What's a Za-Naron?" Muckman asked.

Scott, on the other hand, narrowed his eyes. "You're a Aeon, aren't you?"

"Indeed. I am the soul of an Elder Aeon, one of the First Seven," Za-Naron explained. "After 100 millennia, our physical forms had disintegrated so, our spirits were each planted into the Soul Star to exist forever. I have been transplanting my mind into her consciousness... slowly, but the Aeons did not know how corrupt the planet could be, but I also never anticipated there being power in this world. Not only do I intend to save this world and punish those who deserve it, but I will also take every bit of that power for myself."

"Hey, uh, what the hell is a Aeon?" John asked.

"Long story short: they're a race of space-angels who we saved when we fixed their planet after the black hole generator corrupted it," Scott said. "But from the looks of it, their planet isn't the only thing it corrupted." He glared at Za-Naron. "We could do this the easy way if you just let our friend go."

Za-Naron, though, certainly didn't agree with him and telekinetically lifted him into the air before throwing Scott into a tree as he then fell onto the ground.

Scott groaned. "Geez, a simple no would've worked fine."

"Take her down!" Slash ordered.

Immediately, everyone rushed ahead to try to take her down. LeatherHead tried to tackle her from behind, but Za-Naron easily lifted him up into the air before throwing him over her and sending him tackling into Slash and Pigeon Pete. Rockwell tried to use his own psychic powers to restrained Za-Naron while Josephine, Pollyanna, and John leapt at her. However, Za-Naron was stronger than the mutant monkey as she easily broke free from his powers before sending a psychic blast into Rockwell, sending him crashing back through several trees till he fell onto the ground after the fifth one. Then, Za-Naron lifted Josephine, Pollyanna, and John into the air by using her powers, slammed the three of them into each other, and throwing them several feet away. Then, Maya used her powers to manipulate the air into making a small tornado and sending it towards Za-Naron, who sent a psychic blast towards it that destroyed it before using her powers to lift the teenaged girl up and throw her back several feet.

As the guards tried to come at her, Za-Naron used her powers to easily send them flying back and away from her.

Pigeon Pete flew in from behind her and grabbed her. However, it didn't last long as Za-Naron used her powers to pull the mutant pigeon off of her before blasting a psychic blast into him that sent him crashing into both Mondo and Muckman.

"April, stop!" Scott said. "This isn't you! Snap out of it!"

For a second, April managed to flicker back. "Scott...! I... can't...!" A scream of pain left her lips as Za-Naron took hold again before lifting Scott into the air with her powers and then, squeezing his neck.

But before she could, Za-Naron was forced to released Scott when she was kicked back into a tree while Scott fell to the ground.

"Scott!" Derek ran over to his younger brother with the others following him.

"It's a corrupted Aeon!" Scott exclaimed as he pushed himself up. "It's possessing her! And it's way stronger than the ones we fought before!"

"Those demon-bats!? I thought we were done with them!" Michelangelo said.

Before anyone could say anything else, Za-Naron sent out a large psychic blast that pushed all of them back, except for Mara, who moved closer to her.

"April! It's me, Mara!" She pleaded with her.

"M... Mara?" However, Za-Naron was quick to take control again.

But Mara kept moving closer, confident that she could reach her. "April, listen to me," she said. "Just give me the crystal and everything will be fine."

"No!" Za-Naron grabbed Mara in her psychic grip and pulled her up into the air, just as everyone else recovered.

"Mara!" Briana exclaimed as they all watched, none of them knowing what to do.

"This isn't you, April!" Mara continued. "It's the crystal! It's changing you! You have to break free!"

April fought as hard as she could, but Za-Naron was too much for her. "She's... she's too strong! I can't control it anymore!"

"You're stronger than her! I know you are, Cupcake! You can do it!" Mara added.

"No... I can't... Mara... I'm sorry."

"April... please..." Za-Naron aimed her hand at him and a blue aura formed around Mara. "April!"

But it was too late as Za-Naron closed her fist, reducing Mara to atoms.

"MARA!"

"Oh, my gosh!"

"No!"

Za-Naron let out a shout and lightning shot out from the clouds, hitting the ground and knocking the others back. By the time that everyone had pushed themselves up, Za-Naron was gone and a familiar black leather jacket with pink undertones fluttered into Briana's sightline as she grabbed onto the jacket.

"Did that just happen...? What even just happened? Is Mara... gone?"

But nobody spoke up as they were all still in shock from what happened. Briana glanced down at the jacket she held, a light frown on her face.

Calista, however, clenched her fists as she squeezed her eyes shut tightly, wanting nothing more than to rip the jacket out of her hands and into her own handsโ€” to yell at everyone there and blame them for what happened.

"Poor Mara..." Casey mumbled.

"As if you'd guys actually cared." Calista muttered underneath her breath.

๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘

APRIL FELL ONTO the ground, rolling to a stop. She pushed herself up and brought her hands up to her lips, realizing what she did as tears filled her eyes over the realization that Mara was gone.

Maraโ€” someone that was once one of her friends but over time, she had grown to see the girl in a different way because damn it, she had fallen for the cocky and irresistible
Mara Sparks.

But now, she was gone and it was because of her.

"No! Mara!" April sobbed. "I can't believe it. How could I?"

"You made your choice, and you chose the crystal," Za-Naron said, grabbing the crystal. "Let go of your connection to these sub-life forms who pollute this planet and of your love for the girl. I must cleanse it, starting with this kingdom." She laughed as her laughter echoed throughout the forest.

๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘

THE EVENT THAT just took place was still setting in on everyone and Briana was still holding onto Mara's jacket. Henry could feel the wolf inside of him making small mournful whines over the sudden loss of Mara.

"I can't believe Mara's gone..." Donatello said, a small frown on his face. Although there may be times where Mara annoyed him, he still cared about her since she was his friend.

Calista rolled her eyes as she mumbled. "Like you freaks cared."

Out of nowhere, Henry found his gaze landing on her with a heated glare on his face, his eyes holding nothing but a burning rage in them. He could feel his body shaking with his anger and although he was trying to hold it backโ€” to hold the wolf inside of him back, the full moon was making it harder and harder to do so.

And Calista Diaz had just pushed his last button.

"You wanna repeat that a little louder, Diaz?" Henry spat bitterly, glaring at her.

Calista could hear the bitterness in his tone and for the first time, she couldn't care less as she didn't hesitate to return the glare. The others, on the other hand, only looked between the two, feeling the tension rise and continued to rise from then on.

"Oh, I'm sure you heard me, Hart." Calista retorted, her tone holding the same bitterness as the one in his own.

"You're right I did," Henry snapped. "So, give me oneโ€” just one good reason why I shouldn't tear you to shreds right now."

"As if you would. After how long you spent trying to keep it in?"

"Oh, trust me, letting it out to tear you to shreds sounds like a good idea to me because you have been nothing but a pain in the ass to deal with, Diaz."

Calista scoffed. "And risk becoming a monster like David?"

"Hey!" Scott yelled, offended as he glared at her.

Derek glared at her before turning to Henry. "If you don't kill her, I just might do it myself."

"Or even like Daniel?" Calista continued.

Natalie glared at her. "Excuse me?"

The wolf inside of Henry was thrashing against the chains and for the first time, Henry was actually considering on letting go because all he wanted to do was to tear her to shredsโ€” to kill her because he didn't want to have to deal with her anymore.

"Okay, why don't we just calm down before someone saysโ€”"

"This whole thingโ€” Mara getting killed because of that... thing is because of you freaks anyways," Calista interrupted, cutting Leonardo off. "You are the ones who went to space."

"Whoa, whoa, how were any of us supposed to know that there was a freaking alien inside of that crystal?" Casey defended. "None of us are fluent in outer space!"

"Who goes to outer space and brings home a damn crystal from an alien planet as a souvenir?" Calista retorted. "It's common sense."

"You know, if you're so smart, then why didn't you say something before?" Zane retorted sarcastically as well before glaring at her. "You think you're smarter than everyone, Calista, but you're not. Nobody saw this coming."

The anger continued to rise from inside of Henry as his entire body felt off while he drifted off from the conversation for a second. His body wasn't just shaking nowโ€” it was aching and his joints and bones shook. Despite the fact that there was a chilly breeze, his skin still felt like it was burning hot as body wasn't violently shaking from the rage he was feeling and the feeling of the wolf inside of him just wanting to burst out.

"H... Hen... Henry...?"

But Henry's anger was directly on Calista as his body continued to violently shake with rage. "Diaz, shut the hell up before I make you."

Calista, however, didn't take the warning seriously and kept going. "What are you gonna do about it? Whine about how you had to grow up too fast because mommy and daddy didn't give a damn about you or your sister?"

"HEY!" The five mutant turtles, Zane, and Briana yelled in unison.

Henry sucked in a deep breath, his closed fists shaking with rage as a small, animalistic snarl left his lips. Right when he went to move forward, Natalie beat him to it as she grabbed Calista and slammed the back of her head against a tree, knocking her out.

"Finally! Can we just leave the expired coupon out here for her to get eaten?" Derek questioned.

But Henry's body hadn't stopped shaking from rage and his fists remained closed tightly, a red liquid dripped onto the ground as if something sharp was being pressed into his palms. Scott looked up at the sky and his eyes widened a bit when he spotted the full moon coming out from behind the clouds before whirling his head back down to look over at Natalie, whose body had started to shake violently as well.

"Move, everybody move now," Scott said. "Derek, grab Natalie."

"Oh, god, now what?" Casey asked while Derek moved to grab Natalie and pulled her over.

"How come they're shaking?" Michelangelo asked.

"It's the effects of the full moon," Daniel explained as he walked over. "Scott's right about something: you kids are gonna want to back up."

"Just give them space," Derek said as he and Scott made the others stepped back. "Trust us, they're gonna need it."

And for a second, when Henry felt the violently shaking of his body end, he thought it was overโ€” that the pain was finally done with, but it was far from it.

Because that's when it started.

The bones in Henry's legs snapped as it shifted into a different position, causing the teenaged boy to sharply hiss in pain while falling onto his knees and hands. A sharp gasp of pain leaves Natalie's lips when the bones in her legs snapped as well, shifting into position as it causes her to fall onto her hands and knees beside her brother.

"It's starting," Daniel said before he bends in front of them as he kept his eyes directly on his son and daughter. "Henry, Natalie, listen to me, this is going to hurt so, you both have to concentrate on the air in your lungs and the ground beneath you. Focus on keeping the air in your lungs and your hands and feet planted on the ground."

Another painful snap is heard as the bones in both Henry's and Natalie's backs shift, moving into different positions.

"The first few times, the shift can take hoursโ€”"

"Hours!?" Henry cut Daniel off.

"If you fight it," Daniel continued. "The pain is going to make you want to delay because you think that's all you can take but, I'm telling you two right now, if you let it inโ€” if you allow that pain to swallow you whole, then it can't break you. I know you're both scared about this because you're afraid that you're gonna do something that you'll regret and I get it, but I also know that it won't happen as long as you let this happenโ€” to allow the pain swallowing you wholeโ€” to accepting your wolf and embracing it because that is the only way you'll ever learn to control it." He gives them a serious look. "You two are not monsters or abominations. You're shapeshifters. Protectors. Guardians. Werewolves."

Letting his words sink in, neither Henry and Natalie looked away from him and slowly nodded.

"And when you're done, run wild and free, just run. Feel the wind blowing through your fur as you run, and always remember," Daniel said, the serious expression turning into a soft smile on his face. "I am so proud of you two."

At those words, Henry could feel his heart swelling from the soft, proud smile on his face while Daniel stood up and backed up a bit to give them space. He closed his eyes as the bones in his back snapped again, shifting into position. His eyes opened for just a few seconds to show that they started glowing yellow, just like Natalie's eyes did as well, before the two closed their eyes again, focusing on what Daniel told them to do.

To keep the air in their lungs and their hands and feet planted on the ground while every single bone in their bodies snapped and shifted, moving into position.

Shift.

Bones snapped painfully and moved into position.

Shift.

Clothes ripped.

Shift.

Fur grew throughout their bodies as did their claws and sharp teeth.

Shift.

The pain was agonizing as the transformation continued, but both Henry and Natalie kept their eyes closed and focused on what they needed to do, allowing the pain to swallow them whole.

Shift.

And then, finally, while everyone else could only stare with looks of awe or amazement, Daniel could only smile at what stood in front of themโ€” because standing in front of him stood two wolves.

One was a giant reddish-brownish furred wolf and the other was a giant whiteish-grayish furred wolf, both with glowing yellow eyes.

The two wolves stood there, staring at Daniel, as if they were waiting for his reaction. There was no reactionโ€” nothing but the proud smile that Daniel wore on his face with a prideful expression written all over his face and just by the sight of itโ€” of the proud smile on his face, the two wolves stood up straighter, completely relaxed just be the proud smile they were being given.

And at the soft nod that Daniel gave them, the two wolves turned and ran into the forest and the moment that they did, it was if the forest had awakened as it seems that the chirps of birds and crickets sounded even louder while it felt like the wind was blowing harder than it did before.

And that was all Daniel needed to confirm what his thoughts about what his brother had told him: about what Henry's wolf really is and how much powerful Natalie's wolf really is.

But now knowing just what Henry's wolf really is, he knew it was only a matter of time before he arrived.

ZA-NARON WAS WITHIN the kingdom's grounds, using her powers to do exactly what she say she would do: cleansing it. The guards that had stayed behind from patrolling and scouting the forest to protect the kingdom were no match for Za-Naron as everybody else showed up.

"You can't do this, April!" Leonardo called. "Or Za-Naron, or whoever you are!"

"Do not stand in my way, or you will be cleansed just as Mara was." Za-Naron snapped.

"We have to stop her." Eclipse said.

"Well, what if April is still in there?" Casey asked.

"Are you kidding?" Raphael retorted. "I don't like it, but April O'Neil is... gone."

Scott shook his head. "No, that's not true. Every now and then, April was able to come out before Za-Naron would take control again."

"If Mara was able to reach April, then so can we," Briana added stubbornly. "April's family and the last time I checked, we don't give up on family."

"Yeah, but right now, we don't have a choice," Zane said. "Unless we take Za-Naron down, she's just gonna get rid of everything that's in her path."

None of them liked it but they all charged in on the possessing entity that was in control of their friend. Michelangelo threw his kusarigama chain at her and wrapped it around her as he and Scott pulled on the chain tight while the others tried to grab ahold of her, but Za-Naron only used her powers to flung them away before they could even grab her.

"We know you're in there, April!" Donatello said.

"We're your friends!" Kaz added. "Your family!"

"Remember who you are!" Leonardo said, tightening his grip on the chain as Za-Naron struggled. "You're April O'Neil! Remember everything we've been through together!"

"Yeah, like the time we fought a giant mutagen man," Casey said. "And our dope missions in space."

"And Master Splinter," Michelangelo added. "And pizza parties. And Ice Cream Kitty."

"No!" Za-Naron snapped, sending all of them back with a powerful psychic blast. She dashed for Briana, throwing Kaz, Casey, and Raphael aside when they tried to block her.

Briana cried out as Za-Naron lifted her up. "April! Remember... Mara!"

The moment that she had said that name, April managed to flicker back. "Ma... Mara?" She gasped when she realized what she was doing. "No!" April screamed in pain as she clutched her head, falling to her knees and Briana fell onto the ground.

But Briana wasn't done yet as she pushed herself up and walked over to April cautiously. "April, you're the only one that can destroy that crystal," she said. "You can do it."

April grabbed her crystal, pulling on it until the string snapped. She lifted it up and slammed it against the ground, shattering it. She screamed in pain as the Aeon was pulled from her mind, the spirit forming into a corrupted Aeon above her.

"Foolish creature," Za-Naron snapped, making April gasp. "You could have had all the power of the universe." She charged at April, and Briana moved in front of her, ready to defend her friend.

But Za-Naron never reached the two because an animalistic growl fills the air and before they knew it, a familiar reddish-brownish furred wolf leapt over the two and tackled the corrupted Aeon, kicking it away from the two before standing in front of the two protectively, snarling its sharp teeth at the corrupted alien.

Za-Naron glared at the reddish-brownish furred wolfโ€” that was Henryโ€” and moved to lift her hand, ready to use her powers to finish the wolf. But before she even could, a familiar whiteish-grayish furred wolfโ€” that was Natalieโ€” attacked the corrupted alien from its side and bit down on the alien's arm with its sharp teeth, earning a cry of pain from the alien.

The whiteish-grayish furred wolf leapt back to avoid getting hit by the alien's other arm before letting go, snarling its sharp teeth at the corrupted Aeon. Za-Naron turned to face the female wolf, leaving her wings exposed. Using it to his advantage, the reddish-brownish wolf leapt forward and tackled the corrupted alien, using its claws to scratch its wings while sinking its sharp teeth into the alien's shoulder. With the corrupted Aeon weakened and unable to fly away, the reddish-brownish wolf leapt away and looked up towards April.

And immediately, April could hear his thoughts due to her own powers. "April, finish it!"

Without hesitation, April pulled out her tesson and threw it at the corrupted Aeon as the tesson sliced through the alien before flying back to April as she caught her weapon.

Za-Naron screamed as her form shattered, a beam of light engulfing her until nothing was left, and the beam disappeared.

"Red, is that really you?" Casey asked.

"I think so," April responded before she glanced at her hands, shaking while tears filled her eyes. "Butโ€” but Mara... what have I done?"

"It's not your fault, April." Eclipse told her gently.

"But it is," April argued, fighting back the tears that threatened to spill. "It was all me in a way, and because of me, Mara's gone."

Everyone's mood went still as the loss of their friend was once again hitting them. Briana glanced at the jacket she held and frowned lightly, not wanting to believe that her best friend was gone.

"You can bring her back, you know." Unagami said from inside her head. "I tried to tell you this when your brother was bitten by that annoying mutant fish."

"What?" Briana whispered lowly, not wanting anyone to know about the sudden conversation the demon inside of her was having.

"She's not even gone, she's just molecularly scattered. You can easily bring her back," Unagami replied before she rolled her eyes. "Just follow my lead and hold onto the jacket."

Briana blinked but did what the demon say, her grip on the jacket tightening as she looked up with a new look of determination and hope on her face.

"Mara's not gone," Briana repeated. "At least, not really. She was just molecularly scattered."

Holding onto the jacket, Briana closed her eyes and focused, repeating what the demon inside of her told her too. "Flower gleam and glow, let your powers shine, make the clock reverse, bring back what once was mine, heal what has been hurt. Change the fate's design, save what has been lost, bring back what once was mine, what once was mine."

As she came to an end, teal blue psionic energy left Briana's hands before lifting the jacket up into the air, a figure forming from it. In a matter of minutes, Mara had reformed and was wearing her jacket, groaning as she fell to the ground.

"Yes!"

"Alright!"

"Mara!" April ran to her as she got to her feet, practically tackling her in a hug, though she managed to keep her balance. "Thank goodness." But then, April passed out in Mara's arms.

"APRIL? APRIL." THE teenaged girl slowly opened her eyes at Splinter's voice, pushing herself up.

"I'm so sorry. I should've listened to you about the crystal." April looked over at Mara. "Especially you, Mara. Iโ€”I'm sorry for..."

"For what?" Mara asked jokingly. "For technically killing me? Eh, don't worry about it, Cupcake. Mara Sparks has faced worse." She winked at her, which made April's heart skipped a beat.

"I am impressed, April," Splinter said. "You literally destroyed your demons."

"What about your powers?" Zane asked.

"They were always part of me," April responded. "I can't harness the power of the Aeons anymore, but I think I know how to control my powers better." She held up her hand, the others panicking. Her tesson flew into her hand. "So, at least some good came out of this."

REACHING THE VERY top of the tallest mountain was none other than the evil Foot Clan. In front of them stood a temple with two large doors in the front that were already open, as if their arrival had been expected this whole time.

"That's freaky, dog!" Bebop exclaimed. "How are they open already?"

"Dah, it's like the temple knew we were coming." Rocksteady agreed. "It freaky!"

Razar sniffed the air and looked over at the mutant tiger. "You can smell it too, right?"

"Yes," TigerClaw confirmed. "There is a greater force at works here."

Tyson felt his nose pricked at the same scent that the two mutants were getting. "What is it though?"

Stockman-fly buzzed in excitement. "Look at this place! I can't wait to study itโ€”" he was suddenly cut off when he started gasping for air as Jakestiltskin used his magic to cut off his oxygen.

"This is the Temple of Destroyers, you idiots!" Jakestiltskin said as he released Stockman-fly. "None of you are to set foot inside. You are to wait outside for father and I."

"Master Jake, with all due respect, we don't know what's in there." Soren said.

"I must agree," TigerClaw added. "We can provide assistanceโ€”"

"SILENCE!" Super Shredder snapped, as his henchmen went silent. "My son gave you all an order. Remain here and await our return."

Nobody dared to argue as they all bowed. "Yes, Master Shredder."

And with that said, both Jakestiltskin and Super Shredder marched into the temple, following the voice. The moment that they stepped through the entrance, the doors closed behind them and the entire room went black.

Oh-oh-oh

"Show yourself!" Super Shredder demanded. "I know it was you that called me here! I can sense great power here! Give it to me!"

Oh-oh-oh

A series of bright lights illuminated two paths, clearly wanting the two to go on their own from there.

Oh-oh-oh

Both Super Shredder and Jakestilitskin went on their separate ways, choosing a path to follow to the end of it on their own. In one tunnel, Super Shredder entered into a darkened chamber where the only source of light was a single sparkle floating in front of him. Then, the sparkle flew straight up, illuminating the entire chamber with memories.

His memories; his battles with the people he's interacted with, rebuilding the Foot Clan, taking Jake in as his adoptive son, raising Karai, and his time with his former best friends and brothers: Hamato Yoshi, Flash Sentry, and Quill Sentry before their falling out. His entire life was being played out in front of him.

Then, the single sparkle flew back down in front of him as it started glowing. As it glowed brighter and brighter, a familiar person appeared in front of him as he narrowed his eyes at her.

"You..."

Meanwhile, inside the other tunnel, Jakestilitskin found himself entering another darkened chamber where the only source of light was the single sparkle. It flew straight up, illuminating the chamber with memories of his life.

His parents, his uncle and aunt, convincing Soren to try to poison his aunt when learning of her pregnancy with Briana just to get rid of his cousin, the fight with his parents that resulted in him killing his own mother, disowning his family, and getting taken in by Shredder as his adoptive sonโ€” everything he's seen and done was played out in front of him.

Then, the single sparkle flew back down in front of him as it started glowing. As it glowed brighter and brighter, a familiar person appeared in front of him as he narrowed his eyes at her.

"Twilight Velvet."

"That's the thing about monsters. Sometimes you become one in order to protect your family. While in other casesโ€” take Shredder, for example, he used to be Oroku Saki, the brother and best friend to Hamato Yoshi, Flash Sentry, and Quill Sentry. But now? There's nothing human left about him and the only thing left is a monster."
