"Family. Sure, we fight or annoy each other but at the same time, you can't live without them, right?"
AS HIS EYES opened, Boy Danger blinked to adjust his vision and was able to see that he was trapped in a stone room with no windows or doors.
"What happened...? Where am I?" He questioned before bringing a hand to his forehead and rubbing it. "Ugh... why is my head killing me?"
Suddenly, a few brinks pulled away from the walls to create small, dark openings from each corner of the small room.
"What the...?" Boy Danger looked into one of the openings. "What's goingโ" before he could finish, the opening spat water out at him, getting his face wet. "Aah! What the heck!?" Surprised, he stumbled back from the opening as he wiped the water from his face while the other openings spat out water as well, filling up the room.
"Aw, sewer apples," Boy Danger said, realizing what was happening. "Pretty soon, this entire room is gonna be filled with water."
As he said this, the water continued to rise as it was now completely covering his feet while he frowned. "And I have no way out of here."
SIX
HOURS
EARLIER
"How's it going, guys?" Raphael asked as he and the others were inside the lab. "Any luck?"
"We were able to synthesize the neurotoxin from the brain worm based on yours and Bri's blood sample." Donatello responded.
Briana held up the petri-dish with the toxin while she shivered. "Don't remind me..." she mumbled. "Those things are disgusting."
"Ooh, pretty," Michelangelo looked at the beaker filled with a peach-colored mixture. He went to touch it, but Eclipse smacked his hand away. "You think it'll work on Karai?"
"We're about to find out."
Donatello took some of the green mixture he and Briana had been making into a dropper. He held the dropper over the beaker and squeezed out a drop into the mixture. Everyone watched anxiously, waiting for a reaction as the chemicals began to bubble. Then, the mixture turned dark purple, foaming up and overflowing, onto the table while Donatello and Briana groaned.
"You tried your best, guys," Michelangelo commented. "Even if it totally sucked."
He jumped when Donatello slammed a fist against the table. "Aah! It's useless! We're not even close! We can't do it! This brain worm... it's impossible!" He threw his hands over his eyes with a sigh. "Sensei, I'm afraid there's nothing we can do." He looked up at Splinter regretfully.
"I know how hard the two of you have tried," Splinter responded. "Some things are simply not meant to be." He turned and headed for the doors. "At least I have five wonderful sons, and two wonderful daughters."
Briana froze at those words as her shoulders tensed. She knows her father meant well but at the same time... she couldn't help but feel like she was only making him miserable still. However, she just knew that she couldn't give up just yetโ she had to find a cure for Karai and bring her home.
She had to, for her father.
"Why don't you guys take a break for a while?" Eclipse suggested. "You two have been here for days and nights."
"She's right," Henry said in agreement as he lead the two of them towards the doors. "You two aren't allowed in the lab for a few hours, so just relax."
Although Briana had wanted to stay in the lab and keep working, she knew that she would end up being dragged out by the others so, she went along with it and followed them while everyone else scattered to do their own thing in the main room.
"Guys, you know how much this means to Sensei." Leonardo protested, following them.
"Leo, we're trying as hard as we can." Donatello responded.
"Well, try harder!"
Everyone blinked in surprise at his angry tone. Briana bit the bottom half of her lip while Donatello's back stiffened. Both Raphael and Eclipse, who had just sat down on the couch, had slowly put their book and comic book down onto the couch, their matching emerald green eyes focused on Leonardo. Henry stood there, his eyes focused on Leonardo as well. Michelangelo even muted the episode of Crognard he'd started, eyeing his siblings with concern as if he knew what was coming.
Unlike her siblings, Briana wasn't a confrontation person as back when they were all kids, whenever there was a fightโ specifically a fight between Leonardo and Raphaelโ Briana had the habit of locking herself in her bedroom until she knew for sure that the fighting was over, especially since both Leonardo and Raphael had the habit of dragging Briana into their fights, each one of them expecting her to choose their side.
Before Donatello could said something, Raphael had beat him to it as he snapped. "I got the answer for you! Karai's a lost cause!"
Michelangelo then shoved him. "Don't say that, dude!"
Henry and Eclipse looked between the three mutant turtles, who started arguing. Briana stood back, fidgeting with her fingers nervously as she felt uneasy about the arguing. She watched as Donatello broke away from the argument to answer his phone.
"Shizukani!" The arguing came to a stop as the seven teens turned to face Splinter. "What's the problem here?"
"Nothing, sensei," Donatello said bitterly, putting his phone away. "I need to head out, April needs me." He walked past Splinter and towards the entrance.
"You're needed here, Donnie!" Leonardo argued while Donatello ignored him, jumping over the turnstiles. "Donnie!" The blue masked mutant turtle jumped over the turnstiles to follow after them, everyone else gathering at the entrance to watch as Donatello jumped into the stealth bike, driving off down the tunnel. "Donnie!"
Raphael rolled his eyes. "This is your fault, Leo! Why can't you see that Karai's a lost cause?"
Leonardo spun around, glaring at him. "Oh, of course you'll say that! You never trusted her!"
"She literally poisoned us and tried to kill us!" Raphael reminded, moving closer to him in his face.
"Shredder was controlling her!" Leonardo argued, the two brothers glaring at each other. "She's our sister! Karai's family!"
"Name one thing that she's done that proves we can trust her since we found out!" Raphael yelled. "One!"
"I don't have to! Whenever you like it or notโ whenever you trust her or not, Karai's still our sister! And last time I checked, we don't give up on family!" Leonardo said. "Right, Bri?"
But before Briana could answer, Raphael beat her to it as he scoffed. "Leave her out of this, Leo! God, you always do thisโ you always gonna drag her into it just because you know I'm right and you're worried that she'll be on my side!"
Not wanting to watch her two fighting brothers, Briana turned around and quietly jumped over the turnstiles, running towards the lab where she hoped into the Turtle Racer and started the engine to it, driving off down the tunnel.
"Enough!" Henry shouted, his eyes glowing yellow as he came in between them, keeping the two mutant brothers away from the other. Both Leonardo and Raphael went silent at the sudden wave of dominance and authority that washed over Henry. "Geez, you two are acting like two toddlers throwing a fit." He looks over at Raphael. "You need to calm down since you don't think straight before you say something when you're angry. And you," he faces Leonardo. "You have to calm down and relax too, Leo. I get that you want to get Karai back for Master Splinterโ hell, we all do, but Donnie and Bri are doing the best they can, and they're exhausted and stressed about it. If I didn't force them too, Donnie and Bri wouldn't even go to bedโ hell, half the times I go into the lab, Bri's already asleep and Donnie's about to pass out! Telling them to try harder when they're already doing the best they can isn't fair to them, especially not when they're exhausted and stressed."
"Henry is right, my sons," the three of them along with Michelangelo and Eclipse turned towards Splinter. "You cannot drive each other apart. In times like these, unity is important. Do not forget the most basic lessons: an effective team thinks as one and family is the most important thing you'll ever have."
๐๐๐
A FEW MINUTES had gone and the tension in the lair had calmed down, Michelangelo was in the kitchen, playing a video game with Ice Cream Kitty on the table. "Alright, Ice Cream Kitty, I'll beat your Chippyshmoo with my Beebobim." He threw down a card.
The mutant cat meowed, putting down her own card.
Michelangelo gasped. "No fair! Where'd you get a Gallopup?"
The mutant cat meowed again, pulling her cards towards her. Michelangelo then grabbed her paws, pulling them away from the cards as she hissed. "Cheater, cheater, frozen yogurt eater! Give me that card!"
The two of them started fighting until it stopped when Michelangelo's phone started ringing and he answered it. "Donnie, what's up, dude? Where you been?"
"Mikey, meet me at Murakami's. He made this special pizza gyoza that you got to try, dude. But look, you can't tell the others. He only has a sample for the two of us."
"That kind of makes me feel bad." He jumped to his feet. "Okay, I'm over it. See you soon, dude."
Leonardo walked into the dojo. "Mikey, meeting in the dojo inโ"
Michelangelo jumped off the table. "Can't. Got stuff to do, bro." He bolted out of the kitchen.
As he ran for the turnstiles, Henry raised an eyebrow at him. "Where are you going in a rush?" He asked.
"Murakami's!" Michelangelo responded happily, forgetting all about the fact that Donatello had told him not to say anything. "Pizza gyoza, dude! Donnie invited me!" He hopped the turnstiles before Henry could say anything else, running out of the lair.
Henry, however, only frowned while the wolf inside of him seemed to be growing anxious.
"You okay? You got that worried look on your face." Eclipse asked.
"I don't know," Henry admitted. "But... something about this feels off."
๐๐๐
ANOTHER FEW MINUTES went by and Henry's ears pricked at April's voice. "Hey, guys. Hey, guys. Hey, guys?"
"Hey, April." Leonardo greeted, coming out of the dojo with Eclipse, Henry, and Raphael. "Where's Donnie?"
"Um, I don't know," April said with a shrug. "I just got here."
"He said he was meeting you." Eclipse added.
April only looked confused. "I haven't spoken to him all day."
Henry felt the wolf inside of him growing more anxious and restless than it was before. Suddenly, Leonardo's phone started ringing.
Leonardo picked it off from the couch and looked at the text. "It's from Mikey. He says he spotted a kraang and trailed it back to an old warehouse on Hobard."
"What?"
"No way."
"It must be a kraang sleeper cell." Leonardo said.
"Well, then let's tuck them in and say goodnight." Raphael declared.
"Raph, hold on a second," Henry said. "April's here and says that she didn't call Donnie. Now this? It's a trap."
"He's right," Leonardo said. "Okay, April, you stay here."
"Stay here?" April retorted. "Forget that. I'm coming with."
"Fine. Just stay close."
"Be diligent," Splinter called as they ran out of the lair. "I sense something dire on the horizon."
But as they left the lair, Henry still couldn't shake the uneasy feeling he was feeling or stop the wolf inside of him from growing anxious and restless.
๐๐๐
THEY MADE THEIR way to the warehouse and snuck in through the overhead skylight. Heading along the platform, they found Donatello and Michelangelo tied up on the floor below.
"Donnie! Mikey!"
"Guys, thank goodness," Donatello said. "Hurry! Get us out of here!"
Boy Danger frowned as they all jumped down, looking around the room as if he was expecting for their captors to jump out and ambush them, but nothing came. The wolf inside of him gave a small, warning growl and on high alert more than ever.
"Hold on, dudes," Raphael said. "We got you."
His eyes widened in realization as his nose pricked, catching some familiar scents in the air. "Raph, wait!" Boy Danger tackled him to the ground before he could reach Donatello and Michelangelo, just as the images flickered out.
"Well, I was expecting only Leonardo, but having you all here makes it so much easier."
As Boy Danger and Raphael stood up, everyone looked towards the platform to find Karai standing there holding a voice changer, the holograms of Donatello, Michelangelo, Murakami, and April surrounding her.
"Karai?" Leonardo questioned.
"Cool, right? With just a little clever staging, I captured you all." Karai lowered the voice changer, shutting it off. "Baxter Stockman managed to hack into your T-phone signal, and then he loaned me his Mousers. It was my idea to use their holograms." The holograms vanished as the Mousers shrieked. "Now that I have all of you, and I'll soon have your little sister and Splinter will have no choice but to fight me for your lives."
"Free our brothers now!" Raphael responded, pulling out his sais.
"I'm afraid that's not happening, Raphael," Karai responded. "My friends won't allow it."
Rocksteady burst through the crates, laughing. "Nyet." Bebop appeared on the railing while FishFace jumped into view.
"This is gonna be fun." Razar walked out from behind some crates with a howl.
TigerClaw stalked into view. "Greetings, little ones."
The evil mutants jumped down onto the floor below, surrounding the teens as they drew their weapons.
"Aw, sewer apples."
"Oh, yeah!" Bebop threw a laser at Raphael and the turtle dodged. "It's on like ping-pong." He turned invisible when Raphael attempted to strike, Rocksteady slamming the turtle and knocking him back.
Eclipse lifted her kamas and swung at Razar, but the mutant dog blocked her attack. But then, Eclipse kicked Razar's face and knocked him back, only for Rocksteady to slammed into her, like he did with Raphael and knock her back into Boy Danger.
"I hate that stupid rhino." Eclipse groaned.
"You and me both." He admitted.
April swung her tessen at FishFace, hitting him several times and knocking him back. He ran at her, landing a kick to her stomach and knocking her to the ground.
"April, there's too many of them!" Leonardo called. "Get out of here! You've gotta warn Master Splinter and Briana!" He was cut off as Rocksteady threw Raphael at him, who slammed into him as the two tumbled to the ground.
April nodded and ran for the exit with FishFace behind her.
"Teenager go squishies!" Rocksteady yells, bursting through some crates to try and attack April with his sickle. April flipped out of the way and the mutant rhino hit FishFace instead.
April kept running, only to slam into something.
Bebop laughed, turning visible. "Come on, girl. What are you gonna do?" He squealed as she slammed her fist into his nose and ran past. "Ow, my piggy nose! You hit me in my piggy nose! Why is everyone hitting me in my piggy nose? First, it was the princess and now you!"
April grabbed the garage door, pulling it up but barely managed to open it a bit when Karai dropped down and slammed a foot into her, knocking her to the floor. "If it isn't the wannabe kunoichi, always trying." Karai spun, kicking April in the head and knocking her out.
"APRIL!"
Rocksteady slammed into Leonardo and sent him flying into a metal beam, knocking him out. "LEO!" The others yelled.
Raphael and Eclipse ran to help him but Rocksteady was able to knock them out in a matter of seconds as well.
"NO!"
"You're the only one left, Henry," Karai said with a smirk. "You can't take everyone here on your own."
Boy Danger growled, glaring at the evil mutants as they surrounded him. His eyes glowed yellow and Razar charged at him, moving to attack him with his claws, but Boy Danger caught the mutant dog's hands, kneed him in the face, and threw him across the warehouse into a crate. FishFace went next and Boy Danger blocked his metal legs before punching the mutant fish in the guts and kicking him in the face that sent him back. Bebop threw his lasers at him and Boy Danger jumped to dodge them. He leaped behind the mutant warthog and the moment that Bebop turned around, Boy Danger threw his fist into the mutant's face and kicked him away.
His ears pricked at a trigger and he quickly jumped out of the way to avoid the ice blast that came from TigerClaw's gun. As he was jumped to dodge one and the moment his feet touched the ground, he didn't have time to react as Rocksteady slammed into him, sending him flying into the wall as the back of his head hit the wall.
Boy Danger crumbled to the ground and gave out a small groan. He tried to look up, but his vision was getting blurry as he could feel his eyes starting to close. He did the best he could to stay awoke but the last thing he saw was Karai approaching with an evil smirk before everything went black.
PRESENT
TIME
"Oh, right..." Boy Danger said, the memory of what happened coming back to him. "That's what happened."
"Greetings, turtles, Henry." Karai's voice echoed over the intercom. "It's time for us to play a game. You've all been placed inside a room with a unique trap and one of you has been paired up."
"That doesn't sound like your style, Karai." Boy Danger said.
"Oh, we all had input," Karai responded. "Isn't that right, Xever?"
"I helped design yours personally, Raphael, Eclipse." The mutant fish responded. "Everyone loves baked turtles."
Both Raphael and Eclipse snarled. "I'll bake my foot up yourโ"
"And Jake designed yours personally himself, Henry." Karai added.
Boy Danger rolled his eyes. "Of course he did."
"Raphael, Eclipse, you're inside the first trap, aptly called the Hothead," Karai continued. "Can you figure a way out?"
Eclipse growled while Raphael kicked a wall in response.
"Hello, Leonardo."
Leonardo opened his eyes, having been mediating in his cell before standing up and glancing up at the security camera. "Karai?"
"Welcome to the Courage Slayer."
The blue masked mutant turtle looked up as bricks shifted and a large red glow came from above. He gasped, jumping in the corner of the room.
"To save your siblings, you'll have to face ninja blades as skilled as your own, which isn't all that formidable." A large ball lowered into the room, blades ejecting from it and spinning rapidly. "So, I cranked up the speed to 100. Donatello, are you smart enough to beat the Brain Boggler?"
Donatello was hooked up to a machine in his cell, sitting in a sort of VR experience. In the VR, he was standing on a colored tower, blocks appearing above as they started to dodge, forcing him to dodge.
"Connect the pieces as they appear on the game grid. Make a mistake, and you get zapped." One of the blocks landed on Donatello, the turtle failing to dodge it and getting electrocuted. "Get zapped enough times and then you'll truly know what it feels like to be brain fried."
"Ah, yes. Karai, another excellent villain pun." FishFace commented.
Karai ignored him. "Then, we have the Flush-O-Matic." Michelangelo was strapped down to a contraption, trying to struggle out of his bonds but it was no use. "Once the tanks are full, the flush valve will open and dump mutagen all over your poor, little Michelangelo."
Michelangelo rolled his eyes. "First up, gross. Second, who came up with that lame name?"
"Me and Rocksteadyโ I mean Steranko," Bebop corrected quickly. "Yo, that name is tight."
Michelangelo scoffed. "Figures. You guys have no imagination. I mean, if I were an evil villain, I'd at least try to come up with something cool, like the Flush of Fear, the Toilet of Terror. Ooh, the Dump of Doom. Now, that's got sparkle to it."
"I told you that name needed some work!" Bebop snapped at the mutant rhino.
"Kind of liking the Dump of Doom." Rocksteady answered. "Is nice."
"And lastly, we have the Aquatic Hazard," Karai responded. "Can you figure out a way out before the water reaches the top, Henry?"
"You're not gonna win, Karai!" Eclipse said. "You don't have Briana!"
"Oh, I may not have the princess yet, but I will soon," Karai said, a smug grin on her face although none of them could see her. "Where do you think Razar is right now? Baiting her into a trap."
Boy Danger scoffed. "She's not gonna fall for it, Karai!"
"Oh, but she'll do anything for her dear big brothers and big sister that she admires so much, right?" Karai taunted. "And once I have Princess Briana, Splinter will come after all of you. He'll have no choice but to fight me. Good luck, turtles, Henry, and good riddance."
"Let them go, Karai!" April snapped, her hands chained up to the wall. "You're under the control of a brain worm! Shredder's using you!"
"Lies!" Karai snapped back. "The only thing greater than watching the turtles' and Henry's demise is to watch Splinter bear witness to it right before I finish him off."
๐๐๐
RIGHT WHEN BOTH Briana and Kaz had finished putting their shoes back on after hanging out at the ice rink for a while, Briana heard her phone ringing and pulled it out to find her father calling her. She clicked answer and held the phone up to her ear.
"Sensei?"
"Briana, are you safe?"
Briana blinked at the sudden question, puzzled. "Um, yeah. Kaz and I just finished hanging out at the ice rink." She pulled the phone away from her ear and placed it on speaker. "We were about to head back to the lair."
"No, do not bother. I fear something is terribly amiss."
"Sensei, what's going on?" Briana asked, now even more confused and a bit worried.
"Michelangelo left shortly after you and Donatello. April arrived at the lair and announced she had not called Donatello at all. She went out with Leonardo, Raphael, Eclipse, and Henry to investigate a kraang Michelangelo had tracked."
Kaz blinked. "Mikey found a kraang?"
"I don't think there was a kraang," Briana said. "Are they still gone, sensei?"
"Yes, your brothers and sister have been gone for hours and I have not heard from them. They will not answer their T-phones and neither will April. Something is terribly wrong."
"They've been gone for hours with no response? Someone clearly went through a lot of trouble to trap them." Kaz said.
Briana nodded. "Yeah, luckily, I can track their T-phones." She brought her attention back to the call. "Sensei, I'll call you back if we get any news. We'll see if we can find them."
"Very well. Tread cautiously, my daughter."
"Hai, sensei." Briana hung up the call and clicked on the tracker app to see if she can track down her siblings but frowned slightly when the app was off. "Well, there goes that plan. Whoever has them turned offโ or destroyed their phones."
"Princess Briana."
The two teens spun around at the voice to find Razar stalking towards them. "Can't find your brothers and your sister?"
"Razar," Briana responded from the sight of the evil mutant. "Where are they?"
But Razar's only response was to spin around and bolt, running in the opposite direction as them. Immediately, both Briana and Kaz chased after him, following him until they reached an abandoned subway station, stopping just at the entrance while Razar ran into the darkness of the station.
It was pitch-black and Briana knew that the moment they stepped inside, Razar would already have them exactly where he wanted them. Both Briana and Kaz shared uneasy glances before looking back at the dark station.
"He doesn't think we're really gonna fall for this, right?" Kaz questioned.
"He probably is," Briana said. "All we know is that he's probably waiting for us and the moment we step inside, that's when he'll attack."
"So, we're not doing this then, right?"
"Right," Briana said with a nod. "And I have a plan."
๐๐๐
"KARAI, PLEASE TALK to me! Karai!" Boy Danger's ears had pricked at what sounded like Leonardo's voice as he turned his head while the water was already at his knees.
"Give it up, Leo! She's not going to talk to you!" His ears pricked again at the sound of his girlfriend's voice.
"Clips! You can hear me?"
"It sounds like you're above me and Raph."
"Leo? Clips?" Boy Danger asked, his ears pricking at their voices before pricking again at another familiar voice.
"Henry?" Raphael questioned. "You can hear us too?"
"Yeah, it sounds like you two are right next to me." Boy Danger admitted, moving to the right side of the wall before his ears pricked at a scream. "Donnie!"
"Henry?" Donatello called out. "I can hear you guys through the vents. I'm in some sort of trap."
"Dudes, dudette, I'm on my back!" Michelangelo panicked. "I don't know where anyone is!"
Boy Danger continued to look around, trying to find out but with no windows or doors, he had no idea how to get out of there, and the water was rising faster by every minute.
"We got to help each other," Leonardo stated. "Work together."
"As much as I agree with that," Boy Danger said, frowning as the water had already completely covered his legs. "The water's rising faster and I still can't figure a way out. I don't know how long I'll have air for."
"Yeah, and Clips and I are baking in here. It's like an oven," Raphael added in agreement. "Leo, what do we do?"
"We need some serious science-y stuff, Donnie." Leonardo responded.
"Can't think. I got to focus," Donatello answered. "If I make another mistake, I'm gonna get zapped again."
"I'm about to double mutate!" Michelangelo called. "I'm scared of what I'm gonna turn into! Get me out of here!"
Boy Danger gritted his teeth as he spun around, searching for where the vents were with a panicked look on his face. Maybe if he found where the vents were, he could use them to escape...
He glanced down at the water as his eyes widened to find the water already starting to reach him mid-chest.
All he had to do was hope he'd have enough time to do so.
๐๐๐
"SENSEI!" THE MUTANT rat ended his meditating and stood as Briana and Kaz rushed into the dojo. "Briana, Kaz," he said, relieved that one of his children was alright. "What is going on?"
But before a word could be said, the cheese phone started ringing and Briana walked over to it, taking off the glass that covered it and answered it. "Hello?"
"Bri!"
"April?" Briana asked. "Where are you guys? What's going on?"
"The others are in a trap, but so are you and Master Splinter!"
"Hello, Princess Briana." Karai's voice suddenly came over from the other end.
Briana's eyes widened. "Karai."
๐๐๐
A FAMILIAR MUTANT rhino was patrolling the sewer tunnels, keeping an eye out for Splinter or Briana. At least, he was until he got distracted by a mouse. Rocksteady barely had enough time to dodge the blast of fire that was aimed at him before getting knocked out by Splinter, who managed to hit his pressure points by sneaking up behind him.
Bebop made himself visible long enough to kick Splinter before turning invisible again. "So, you're the sensei rat master supreme, huh?" He laughed. "Not so tough."
At those words, Captain Violet leapt down in front of her father, blocking the mutant's attack and kicked him back just as Bebop became visible. She reached into her belt and pulled out a small vial, emptying out the contents onto her palm.
"Hey, Bebop!" She jumped out of the way to avoid one of the kicks that was aimed at her. "Why don't you take a nice nap?" The moment that Bebop charged at her, Captain Violet held out her opened palm and blew the contents into the mutant warthog's face, watching as the evil mutant started coughing.
She smirked when the evil mutant fell onto his knees before face-flat on the floor, the loud snores leaving his lips.
"That's what happens when you mess with my family."
๐๐๐
AFTER THE THREE of them were able to sneak into the area where Karai was waiting and where April was chained up on the platform, they dodged Razar's snapping jaws and Splinter grabbed his arm and threw him into a pipe, stunning him and causing him to fall back into the water.
Karai smirked, motioning for Splinter to come closer. He jumped into the water, only for FishFace to grab his leg, pulling him down.
FishFace surfaced, now without his breathing device, and turned himself belly-up so his gills were in the water.
"Karai." Splinter stood on the platform.
Karai turned to face him. "Welcome, Splinter. It's been a long time."
"Do not make me fight you, my daughter."
"Never call me that!" Karai snapped. "The only way to free your pathetic family is to fight me to the bitter end." She unsheathed her blade, pointing it at him.
Splinter sighed silently, getting into a fighting stance.
"Now you will pay."
Right when TigerClaw pulled out his gun and aimed it at the giant mutant rat, Captain Violet leapt forward and kicked his face, knocking him back into the water while Splinter was fighting with Karai and Kaz was dealing with Razar. Then, Captain Violet landed on the platform next to April as she reached into her belt and pulled out a lock pick.
She grabbed the chains that were on April's arms and started to pick them.
Splinter grabbed Karai's hands as she tried to attack, stopping her from hitting him with her blade. "Miwa, listen to me. I am your father, Hamato Yoshi. Your mother was the love of my life."
"Don't you dare desecrate her memory!" Karai shouted, jumping back only to run in for another attack.
๐๐๐
JUST AS HE RESURFACED, Boy Danger coughed as he gasped for air while the water was up at his throat. "Come on," he muttered. "Where is that stupid vent?"
"Clips and I are finished, guys," Raphael said. "We're a baked turtles."
Michelangelo screamed. "It's impossible, dudes, dudette! I don't even have a way out!"
"Leo, it's up to you to find a way out!" Boy Danger called. "Cause I'm about to be submerged!"
Just as those words left his lips, Boy Danger took a deep breath just as the water fully submerged his head. He held his breath for as long as he could as he desperately searched for a way out. However, the more he held his breath, the more he could feel his lungs burning as if they were on fire, begging for some air.
His ears pricked at the familiar voices but since he was underwater, the voices sounded all muffled and far away that he couldn't tell who was who.
"Leo, you gotta hurry! Who knows how long Henry can keep holding his breath for!"
"Hang in there, Henry!"
"I'm almost there!"
'Just focus, Henry. You can do it, just focus on holding your breath.' Henry thought secretly to himself.
But the more he struggled to hold his breath, his lungs burned and burned while he could feel his eyelids slowly starting to shut. He squeezed his eyes shut but unable to hold his breath for any longer, the last thing he remembered were the air bubbles that left his lips before everything went black.
๐๐๐
THE BLUE MASKED mutant turtle managed to get into the same cell as Raphael and Eclipse, who were both nearly passed out from the heat. Leonardo was repeatedly slamming his katana into the wall as the room continued to get scorchingly hot, and it was only getting hotter.
Leonardo then managed to push a brick out of place and then did it to another. He shoved his katana through the gap and the red glow behind the vents faded, allowing the room to cool down. Then, Leonardo helped his brother and sister up onto his feet as they coughed and then, more bricks moved aside to make an opening, only for water to come splashing into the cell.
The three mutant turtles coughed, spitting out the water that they had swallowed. They pushed themselves to their feet and spotted a familiar body laying on the floor, unconscious.
"Henry!"
They rushed over to him and after they were able to find a pulse, Leonardo handled the chest compressions while Eclipse handled the rescue breaths. They did this four times and before they could try a fifth time, Boy Danger started coughing while water spilled out from his mouth.
Boy Danger coughed one more time before he gave a small groan. "If we ever have to go underwater for a mission... we're taking the sub," he commented. "Cause I refuse to swim."
"We're just glad that you're okay," Eclipse said as she and Leonardo helped him up while he smiled.
Then, the four of them were able to make an opening and get into the next cell, only to get surprised at the next trap on the other side. "What theโ?"
"Guys, help me!" Michelangelo yelped.
Leonardo sliced through his straps as the mutagen started to pour down. The orange masked mutant turtle quickly made his way up on top of the contraption, out of reach of the mutagen that flooded the room.
"We've got to get Donnie!" Leonardo said, looking up at the ceiling. He slammed his katana into the bricks overhead, making an opening. They pulled themselves through and spotted the purple masked mutant turtle strapped to chairs with heavily-wired helmets on their heads.
Leonardo pulled out his sword. "I'll cut you loose."
"No!" Donatello yelled. "The helmet is totally wired. If you try to free me, you'll fry me." He screamed as he got electrocuted.
"Chillax, I got this." Michelangelo said. "I've got, like, fifty puzzle apps on my T-phone." He grabbed Donatello's helmet, getting zapped himself.
The others stood back as the two mutant turtles were electrocuted from the trap before they managed to pull the helmet free of the wires.
"Mikey... you're awesome!" Donatello panted, looking up at him.
"Yeah..." Michelangelo said tiredly. "I was born with a naturally rare awesomeness." He promptly fainted.
"Hold still, Donnie," Boy Danger ordered, using one of his twin swords to pry open the shackles binding Donatello to the chair as Michelangelo regained consciousness.
"Now, for us to get out of here, save April, and stop Karai."

WITH THE HELP of Kaz and April, Captain Violet managed to take down the evil mutants while Splinter handled Karai, who was in her snake form with her actions uncontrollably by the anger and hatred that the brain worm was giving her.
"Miwa," Splinter said, trying to reach her. Karai screamed at him and dove into the water to make a surprise attack. Splinter closed his eyes and centered his breathing, performing the hand gestures of the healing hands mantra.
Karai gave a feral screech and leaped out of the water, preparing to strike with a deadly blow. But Splinter avoided and landed three blows to her pressure points, temporarily immobilizing her as Karai slumped forward.
"I love you, Miwa." Splinter whispered, lunging forward and striking two fingers against the crown of her skull.
Karai broke free of her paralysis and wrapped her body around his body. Splinter gasped in pain as Karai hissed and struck out as if she was about to rip out his throat, but suddenly stopped. She hissed as she wrapped her arms around her stomach, releasing Splinter as he fell to the floor of the platform.
Karai fell back against the side of the platform, losing her balance and falling toward the rapidly draining sewage.
Captain Violet lunged forward, grabbing the edge of the platform with one hand while grabbing onto Karai's arm with her other hand, the two of them dangling over the sewage water. Captain Violet could feel Karai's arm slipping from her grasp as she struggled to hold onto the mutant snake. But when the platform shifted unexpectedly, Captain Violet lost her grip, causing Karai to fall and vanished down the drain below.
"NO!" Captain Violet shouted. "Karai!" At the same time, Splinter cried out his daughter's name in anguish, making a motion of jumping in to retrieve her, but April and Kaz leapt forward and stopped him.
"Your victory has come at a price, Yoshi-san!" TigerClaw snarled triumphantly, using his jet pack to hover over them with his laser gun pointed at him.
Captain Violet growled at his words and using her only free hand left, she took her katana blade and threw it at the mutant tiger's gun, causing it to explode in his face while the mutant tiger roared angrily and glared down at her.
"Sensei!"
"April!"
"Kaz!"
"Violet!"
The five mutant turtles and Boy Danger leapt down, landing on the same platform as them. TigerClaw glared at each one of them. Although he was a strong fighter, the mutant tiger could see that he was outnumbered and didn't stand a chance at defeating all of them on his own. Instead, the mutant tiger laughed as he took off, leaving them to their bitter victory.
Leonardo reached a hand out, letting his youngest sister grab it as he pulled Captain Violet back onto the platform.
"I trust that you are all unharmed?" Splinter said, his tone was heavy with grief.
"Sensei, what happened?"
"She forced me into combat," Splinter explained, everyone lowered their heads at his tone. "But the healing hands I used on her were meant to help her, not harm her. I fear we will never see Miwa again."
Although the loss was registering in their headsโ what the loss meant, Boy Danger, for some reason, didn't seem to see it that way. To him, it was just another challenge.
To him, there was still hope.
There had to be, and he wasn't quite sure if he was ready to stop believing in it.
"Never give up," Boy Danger stated. "That was the greatest lesson you ever taught me as a kid, sensei."
Even if Karai wasn't with them, he still had the rest of them and if they still believed that one day, Karai would be home with the rest of them.
Splinter smiled appreciatively at the smiles he was getting from them.
"Come, let us return home."
"So, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter if you got into a fight or if they're annoying you, family is always going to be the most important to have and cherish because you never know if they'll be gone one day. In a way, your family is like another part of you and without them, you could lose yourself but you can always count on the ones you love to help find you again."
