"Have you ever wondered what it would be like to travel back through time and see what it was like for your parents? Well, little did I know was that this was exactly that for me..."
Japanese Translations -
"Sheipushifutฤ." - "Shapeshifter."
"Ookamikappa." - "Wolf kappa."
"NINJAAAS!" THE FIVE mutant turtles, Henry, and Briana dashed through the woods while being chased by the red-clad ninjas. They stopped to a halt, coming back-to-back with each other as they were surrounded by other ninjas.
"Where are we?" Leonardo asked.
"Not where are we, but when are we?" Donatello corrected. "We're obviously in Japan, but the time period is shaky."
A battle cry was heard as one of the ninjas jumped from the trees, throwing a chain around Leonardo's sword and knocking him off his feet, starting the fight with the other ninjas taking action.
Although the seven teens were able to hold their own, the other ninjas' movements were much faster than theirs. Donatello swerves and spins, narrowly evading the blows as his attacker's blade slices through his LARP costume beard.
"These guys are good!" Donatello says, his hand hovering over the remaining of his costume beard.
Henry felt his eyes widened when he spotted the familiar symbol on one of their uniforms. "They're not just ninja, they're Hamato Clan! Splinter's clan!"
"But the Hamato Clan doesn't exist anymore, right?" Raphael asked.
"I mean, technically, we are the last surviving members." Briana said.
Henry's eyes suddenly flashed yellow as he spun around, blocking the blade with his twin swords from his attacker, whose eyes widened from the sight of his glowing eyes.
Raphael was knocked back by one of the ninjas, who closed in on them and began talking among themselves in Japanese. The ninjas held onto their weapons and moved to attack once more.
"What is going on here?" A voice snapped, as the ninjas moved aside to let him through. "Yokai?" The man said at the sight of the five mutant turtles before looking over and spotting Henry's glowing eyes. "Sheipushifutฤ?"
"Shredder?"
Saki took a step towards them, his lips parted. "This cannot be..." his eyes traveled to Briana, who he could've swore held some resemblance and similars to two of his friends. "You..."
At that very moment, Michelangelo threw down a smoke bomb that allowed them to flee. They abandoned their LARPing gear and headed into the trees.
"Phew! Close call, dudes," Michelangelo said as they jumped from tree to tree. "Awesome save by Mikey, thank you very much."
Donatello dropped down onto the forest floor. "Oroku Saki was part of the Hamato Clan before he became the Shredder."
Eclipse slid down a tree to the ground. "So, we're at least sixteen years in the past then. But why here? Why now?"
"Who knows?" Raphael retorted. "But twenty bucks says it's Renet's fault. She doesn't know the first thing about time travel."
"Maybe it's the timeline trying to fix something." Henry said.
"Hey, guys? Look over there," Briana said as she pointed over at a building. "Isn't that Sensei's old dojo?"
Leonardo started towards the dojo. "Come on, ninjas. Maybe Father's in there." He made his way to the door with his brothers and sisters close behind and stopped, spying on the people inside.
Saki was kneeling in front of his adoptive father, retelling what happened in the forest. "I saw it with my own eyes. They were small green men and woman in strange costumes, and one of them had their eyes glowing yellow. Clearly, the yokai and sheipushifutฤ of legend." He paused for a second. "Except for the girl. The girl looked like a mix of Flash and Twilight."
'Flash and Twilight?' Briana thought secretly to herself, not seeing the slight looks of panic her brothers and sister had given each other.
There's laughter coming from a nearby doorway and the seven teens looked over to see a human version of Splinter-- or Yoshi as he was known back then-- stepping into the room, holding a fan with two other men behind him.
The first was a handsome man that had blue hair and brown eyes--well, more like an brown eye with a athletic build. He was wearing a dark blue button-downed shirt with short sleeves, black jeans, and dark blue sneakers with white laces. He had an eyepatch on his left eye due to an injury he got during the Third Great Ninja War back when he was eighteen.
The second one was also an attractive man with curled blue hair and blue eyes with an athletic build. He was wearing a white shirt with a black leather jacket over it, black jeans, and black sneakers with white laces on it.
"Yokai? Sheipushifutฤ? Your imagination runs wild, Saki." Yoshi said.
The seven teens gasped, ducking out of sight behind the doorway.
"Whoa. Human Splinter."
"He looks so weird without fur," Michelangelo said, leaning out to get a better look at him. But Raphael grabbed him and covered his mouth, pulling him out of sight.
"Small green men and woman? A boy with glowing yellow eyes? A girl that looks like Flash and Twilight?" Yoshi seemed amused by the idea, despite making fun of his brother. "Your head has always been in the clouds, brother."
Flash Sentry scoffed. "More like in his ass." He muttered to himself, clearly not too happy with Saki.
"Do not be too dismissive of the supernatural world, Yoshi." Hamato Yuta lectured. "There are many dimensions, many beings that permeate what we call reality."
Yoshi bowed before him. "Apologizes, father." He sat beside his brother while Flash Sentry sat beside Yoshi and Quill Sentry sat beside Saki on the other side of him. "Please, continue, Saki. Let us hear more of this interesting tale."
"Do not mock me, Yoshi," Saki snapped. "I know what I saw."
Hamato Yuta coughed. "Some legends say when the yokai arrive with a sheipushifutฤ, tragedy is sure to follow."
"Dudes, dudettes, these yokai and sheipushifutฤ sound like trouble." Michelangelo whispered.
Eclipse smacked the back of his head. "He's talking about us, knucklehead."
"Yokai are mythical Japanese monsters," Donatello explained.
Hamato Yuta left the room, leaving Saki and Yoshi alone, the four men getting up and facing each other in pairs-- Yoshi versus Saki and Flash Sentry versus Quill Sentry.
Saki sighed. "I'm telling you guys, we all saw them." The four men bowed to their opponent.
"It reminds me of the yokai friends and sheipushifutฤ friends we made as children," Yoshi took a fighting stance with Saki. "Remember?"
Quill Sentry raised an eyebrow as he and his younger brother got into a fighting stance. "I remember you three using them to trick me to jump into the river when we were kids."
"You're the one that's two years older than us and you still fell for it." Flash Sentry reminded, as the four began to spar against their opponent.
Saki growled, locking together with Yoshi. "You never listen to me. Just like..." he slammed his knee into Yoshi's stomach, knocking him away. "Tang Shen."
Quill Sentry couldn't help but rolled his eyes, letting out a groan of annoyance as he blocked his brother's knee. "Again with this, Saki?" He questioned, irritated by the man.
"Yet again you speak of Shen?" Yoshi retorted, blocking Saki's kick.
"You care nothing for her. Only for the Clan, only for yourself."
Yoshi swept his leg down, making Saki fall. He slammed his knee into Saki's stomach before he had a chance to fall, grabbing his brother's wrist and throwing him over his shoulder onto the floor.
"That is not true, brother. I have always been there for you." Yoshi offered Saki his hand, though Saki slapped it away.
"Oh, boohoo, poor little Saki. He didn't get what he want," Flash Sentry taunted, sending a small glare his way. "Shen made her choice a long time so, get over it, you big baby."
Saki scoffed at his other adoptive brother. "You're no better, Flash."
"I swear to god, Saki, if you say it again, I'llโ"
"I'm not the one trying to protect a weapon thatโ"
"That's it!"
Quill Sentry gave a small sigh in annoyance. "And he's awoken the beast."
But before Flash Sentry could storm over to Saki, the sound of the doors sliding close grabbed the four men's attention. The seven teens darted off before they could get caught.

THE ORANGE MASKED mutant turtle groaned while hanging off from a tree. "Ugh, we haven't had any real food in days." He fell off the tree, landing on the forest floor. "A turtle can't live on berries alone, bros and sisters." He crawled over to Raphael. "I'm feeling weak."
Henry had his head rested against a tree trunk and his ears pricked at a sound. He turned his head to the left and spotted a deer that was drinking river by the river. As he stared at it, he could've swore that his stomach gave a soft grumble while the wolf inside of him was practically begging to come out to try to hunt down the deer. Immediately, Henry shook his head to clear it of those thoughts, his face grimacing with slight disgust at the thought of eating raw meat.
"Ain't no way am I eating raw meat." Henry muttered to himself.
Raphael groaned, shoving Michelangelo away. "Is Renet ever gonna find us and bring us home? Seriously, I hate time travel."
"I've been giving it more thought," Leonardo said as he added more logs to the fire they'd made before sitting down. "It kinda seems like more than just coincidence we're here, right?"
"So, Renet's scepter wanted us to come here?" Eclipse questioned, leaning against Henry.
Donatello thought about it for a second. "Well, the odds we're in this exact time and place by sheer accident is like 879 quintillion to 1."
"But if that's true, what's the reason we're here?" Briana added.
Michelangelo's humming suddenly caught their attention.
"Mikey, what the heck are you doing?" Eclipse asked.
"Baking a pizza," Michelangelo responded, showing them what he'd created. "Berries, spider eggs, and worms on a thin slice of bark covered in mud sauce. Mmm, mmm, mmm." The others looked completely disgusted. "Here, Raph, try a bite." Michelangelo shoved his creation into Raphael's mouth, who quickly spit it out and tackled him to the ground, rolling around.
"Raph, Mikey, come on! Quit it!"
Meanwhile, nearby to where the seven teens had been hiding, a woman was walking. The woman was of a Chinese and Japanese descent with long straight dark brown hair, brown eyes, light skin, and a thin figure. She was wearing a white button up shirt with rolled up sleeves, black cuffed skinny jeans, a brown woven belt with gold hardware, and dark red sneakers with white laces and soles. She was also holding a baby girl in her arms that was bundled in a soft, warm blanket.
"Shen!"
Tang Shen smiled widely at the sight of her best friend. "Twilight!"
Her best friend was a woman with curled purple hair and violet eyes. She was wearing a long violet dress with short sleeves and high heels. She also had a gold crown with a violet crystal star in the middle of it on her head and seemed to be sporting a very noticeable baby bump.
The two women were quick to greet each other with a gentle hug and after pulling away, Twilight Sparkle smiled down at the baby girl that was her goddaughter. "Hi there, Miwa," she said. "Aren't you getting big?"
Miwa gave a baby giggle as her small hands grabbed onto her godmother's fingers, as the woman herself let her hold onto her fingers. "She's excited to meet her little sister." Tang Shen said.
Twilight Sparkle used her free hand to set it gently on her baby bump where her unborn daughter was. "That makes two of us."
"Three of us." Tang Shen corrected. Back when they were kids, the two had always said that they were going to raise their own children together, as if they were sisters.
Then, Twilight Sparkle gave her a gentle smile. "How did it go with Yoshi?" She asked.
At the mention of her husband, Tang Shen sighed. "He still won't leave the clan to go to New York with me."
Suddenly, as the two were still fighting, both Raphael and Michelangelo rolled right onto their path in front of them. The women gasps as the baby starts crying while Tang Shen cradles her baby to her chest. "Yokai!"
"It's okay, it's okay, we're not gonna hurt you." Leonardo said quickly.
"Yeah, we're friendly yokai." Eclipse agreed quickly as Raphael and Michelangelo got back to their feet.
"Check out the cute eyes." Michelangelo gave the two women his puppy-dog eyes to make himself look cute as possible.
Twilight Sparkle had a hand on her baby bump when her eyes made eye contact with Briana's eyes as the woman found the girl's sapphire blue eyes similar to her husband's. Briana blinked as she stared at her before her gaze landed on her baby bump, biting the bottom half of her lip.
'Is she...? No, it... it can't be.' Briana thought secretly to herself. 'Don't think about it, Briana. Remember that they gave you upโ that they didn't want you.'
Saki suddenly jumped down, slashing his sword at them. They jumped away to dodge, taking shelter behind some trees.
"Mikey, we need an exit." Henry said.
"I'm out of smoke bombs, dude." Michelangelo responded.
Donatello lifted his staff, gasping when a blade slammed through the tree he was hiding behind. Saki grabbed him and threw him to the ground.
"Fear not, Shen," Saki started. "I will destroy these wretched monsters."
Michelangelo's nunchucks wrapped around the blade, preventing Saki from attacking his brother as Leonardo helped the purple masked mutant turtle back into cover. Saki slammed a kunai into the chain, breaking it before throwing the kunai at Michelangelo. Henry ran out from cover, knocking the kunai away with his twin swords, Leonardo and Donatello having disappeared from sight once he was back under cover.
Saki looked around, his grip on the blade tightening.
"Now's our chance," Raphael said. "We can change the future. We can take Shredder down."
Henry grabbed his arm to stop him from moving. "No! Are you crazy? We can't mess with time! Worse stuff could happen!"
Miwa's cries caught Saki's attention and he walked over to the pair as Tang Shen was able to calm her daughter down. "Are you alright, Shen?" He looked over at his friend. "Twilight?"
The two women nodded as Tang Shen spoke up. "Yes, thanks to you."
Saki gently ran the back of his hand down Miwa's face. "I would never let anything happen to you." He turned his attention to the woman he was in love with. "I overheard your conversation with Yoshi. It is futile, you know. He will never leave the clan."
Tang Shen sighed, turning away from him. "Perhaps you speak the truth."
"Shen, take me back," Saki said as she turned to look at him. "We will go to New York together, the three of us. We'll visit Flash and Twilight in the Crystal Empire." Tang Shen looked away, silent. "I'm a different man than the one you once knew." Saki gently hooked his fingers under Tang Shen's chin, turning her head so she was looking at him. "Believe me." He kissed her forehead.
Tang Shen gave him a small smile, turning and walking away with Miwa and Twilight Sparkle.
"Whoa," Michelangelo started from where the group had been watching from the branches. "Young Oroku Saki is kind of a good guy, right?"
Eclipse scoffed. "Yeah, right. He's a total creep."
"Maybe we should take Shredder down." Leonardo said.
"Yeah, sure, and then we'll Marty Mcfly ourselves out of existence," Henry said sarcastically before he shook his head. "No! As much as I hate Shredder, think about what could happen if we take down Shredder here. Master Splinter will never move to New York and buy five baby turtles, which means that nobody will be there to find Briana in the sewers when she's a baby and bring her to Master Splinter, and then who's gonna save all of New York from the kraang invasion."
"But we've already interfered with history," Raphael pointed out. "Shredder just saved Tang Shen and Twilight from monsters. Us!"
Briana pulled out her T-Phone, pulling up a photo of them with Casey, Mara, Zane, Calista, Kaz, and April. In the photo, Casey, Mara, Zane, and Calista began to fade away. "Casey, Mara, Zane, and Calista's pictures are fading away, like we never knew them. Time is already being altered."
"It's just like that movie," Michelangelo panicked. "We're doomed, dudes, dudettes! Dooooomed!"
"Calm down, Mikey!" Eclipse snapped. "We just gotta make sure that Tang Shen doesn't like Oroku Saki."
"We just have to convince her that he's the evil jerk we all know and hate, so history stays on course." Leonardo added in agreement.
๐๐๐
BY THE NEXT morning, the five mutant turtles, Henry, and Briana were hoping to find Tang Shen and to their luck, they found the woman holding Miwa in her arms while walking through the forest with Flash Sentry. Raphael, Eclipse, Donatello, and Michelangelo jumped down in front of them, startling the two women. "Shen! Twilight!"
They went to run, only for Briana, Henry, and Leonardo to jump down in front of them. "Tang Shen, Twilight Sparkle, hold on." Leonardo said.
"We come in peace." Donatello added.
"We're not going to hurt you." Henry reassured.
Michelangelo slid out, humming as he started to dance. The two women looked in confusion before looking at Miwa, who giggled.
"Please, we mean you two no harm." Eclipse said.
The two women stared at them. "Are you aliens or yokai?" Tang Shen asked.
"We're, um, friendly yokai, Shen," Donatello motioned to Henry and Briana. "And they're our sheipushifutฤ guardians." He somewhat-lied since Henry was a shapeshifter but none of them wanted to said what Briana really was. "We need to talk to you two."
๐๐๐
THE TWO WOMEN had brought them back to Shen's house where she was preparing food for them. Leonardo was holding Miwa, who was tugging on his mask tails while he smiled fondly at his sister.
"I was raised in Fukuoka, but my grandfather is Chinese," Tang Shen said. "I moved here to be closer to Yoshi." She was chopping up cucumbers on a cutting board while on two other plates was a piece of cooked meat. "I've heard that yokai are always hungry. That's why I made a meal all kappas love."
"Kappa? What's a kappa?" Leonardo questions.
"Turtle yokai," Tang Shen responded, setting a plate of cucumbers down on the table for the mutant turtles. "And your favorite food is cucumbers. At least, that's what the legends say."
"Cucumber?" Michelangelo questioned. "Little known factโ our favorite food is pizza. Thick crust, thin crust, no crustโ hook a turtle up!"
The two women laughed, before Twilight Sparkle placed two other plates on the table. "And meat for the ookamikappaโ wolf kappa."
"My grandmother told me the story of a kappa that came out of the river as a young girl was fetching water," Tang Shen started. "The kappa terrified her. But the girl always carried cucumbers with her to ward off yokai. The kappa was so thankful, it told her of a great hurricane that would devastate her village. It saved her people."
"That's right, and we want to save you, Tang Shen." Eclipse said.
"Which is why, we, um, yokaiโ have come to talk," Donatello added. "We also bring you dire news."
"You can't leave Hamato Yoshi," Henry started. "He's a good man. Oroku Saki is evil."
Tang Shen shook her head. "No. Saki is a good man." However, she didn't seem to realize how her best friend bit her lips hesitantly at her wordsโ as if she knew something about Saki she didn't.
"But if you choose Oroku Saki, the world itself could be at risk." Briana said.
Donatello nodded. "Take it from us, the yokai siblings."
Tang Shen glanced down at Miwa. "Yoshi is too dedicated to ninjstu to raise a family."
"That's not true," Michelangelo responded, eating the cucumbers. "Splinter loves little Miwa. She's so cute!"
"I don't know who I will choose. I must do what is right for my daughter."
At those words, Twilight Sparkle took a small glance at her baby bump, resting a soft hand on it while her violet eyes were fill with worry for her unborn child that had a terrible fate on its shoulders. However, Briana seemed to notice her reaction.
'She looks worried about something.' Briana thought secretly to herself before shaking her head. 'Stop it, Briana. Remember that she didn't want you. If she was so worried about you, she never would've given you up and sent you away.'
"Follow your heart, Shen," Raphael said. "You know who the better man is."
Tang Shen only smiled. "Please, let me get you more cucumbers." She started to cut up more of the vegetable.
Donatello gasped, pulling out his phone and bringing up the picture. "Um, guys?" He held it to them to reveal April and Kaz fading from the picture. "What's the plan now?"
"The only noble thing we can do is finish Shredder... once and for all," Leonardo responded.
It wasn't long till night had fallen and the seven teens left the two women, Twilight Sparkle was lost in her thoughts as she recalled the warning that they've given Tang Shen, comparing to what Saki had said to Flash Sentry a few weeks ago. She knows that her best friend wanted to see the good in Saki but Twilight... she wasn't so sure if there was any left, not after how much Saki's changed.
"Shen? Do you really think that Saki's a good man?" Twilight Sparkle asked her best friend, who was feeding Miwa.
Tang Shen hesitated for a second before she slowly nodded, yet even her nod seemed hesitation as if she wasn't quite sure herself. "I do," she said before she gave her a small concerned look. "Why are you asking?"
Twilight Sparkle looked down at the table before resting a gentle hand on her baby bump. "Did Yoshi or Quill ever tell you why Flash is upset with Saki after they had that fight?"
Tang Shen shook her head. "No, why?"
Twilight Sparkle bit the bottom half of her lip nervously before she sighed, looking at her best friend in the eyes while keeping a hand on her swollen stomach.
"Saki was telling Flash that he thinks Flash and I should turn Briana into a weapon when she's born because of the prophecy."
Tang Shen looked shocked, almost frightened by what she was hearing. "He... but she's just a child. Saki really..." she trailed off before glancing over at Miwa, as if she was imaging Saki ever saying something like that about her own daughter. "He... he wouldn'tโ"
"Shen," Twilight Sparkle told her best friend, reaching out to grab her hand. "I wouldn't lie to you about something like that. That's why Flash is still mad with him."
Tang Shen closed her eyes for a second before she reopened them, setting down the baby food in front of Miwa before placing her hand on top of Twilight's hand, giving her a soft smile. "Thank you for telling me this, Twilight."
Twilight Sparkle smiled back at her. "Of course, Shen. You know I would never lie to you. Do you..."
Tang Shen nodded.
"I know who I'm choosing."
๐๐๐
"THE HAMATO CLAN has gotten weak!" Saki cries, holding up a torch that shows the faces of the gathered ninjas. "It is rotting from the inside. The Foot was the oldest of all ninja clans, but it was wiped out by Hamato Yuta when he killed its master, Oroku Keiji... my father."
The gathered ninjas gave out gasps at the words, eyes widening while Saki steps off the shrine. His hands had blades on them while his face was covered with hatred written all over it.
"I was adopted by the Hamato Clan as an infant," he continued. "Raised by my enemy in ignorance! I will have my revenge on them all!"
He turns and throws the torch into the shrine, burning it. Saki then holds up the flag of the Foot Clan as the ninjas kneeled before him. But a gasp leaves one ninja's lips when he looks up, and the other ninjas follow suit.
Saki turns and sees six white-eyed silhouettes standing amongst the flames. "Yokai," he snarls. "Finish them quickly. I have business to attend to."
The ninjas prepare and while Saki leaves, the fight begins.
๐๐๐
"IF YOU'RE HERE to try to talk me into forgiving Saki, guys, you're out of luck," Flash Sentry said, leaning against the railing of the dojo with clenched fists as Saki's words replayed in his head. "I refuse to forgive him for what he said. Hell, I don't even want him to go near my daughter when she's born."
"We're not," Quill told his brother as he and Yoshi joined him. "It's not like he apologized for what he said anyways."
Yoshi couldn't help but let out a small sigh. "Saki gets worse everyday."
Flash Sentry scoffed. "Sometimes he makes me wanna strangle him and now, with what he said about Briana, sometimes I just wanna kill him." He looks down a bit to gaze down at the ground. "All because of that stupid prophecy, he thinks I'll willingly put my own child through the abuse and torture my father put me and Quill through."
As the words left his lips, a frown came onto his lips as unhappy memories of his childhood came into his headโ the brutal training, the killing that his father forced him and Quill to doโ all of the blood that was on Flash Sentry'sโ or Quill Sentry'sโ hands.
His childhood was the reason why at first, Flash Sentry never planned on having children of his own, having always been afraid of turning into his father or ruining his own children like his father ruined him. But then, he met Twilight Sparkle when Tang Shen had introduced her best friend to them, and from there on, everything had changed.
He has always been afraid of the future, especially when Twilight Sparkle had came to him to tell him that she was pregnant. At first, he was convinced that he'd screwed up and ruin his child, but the moment he had heard his baby girl's heartbeat for the first time at one of their ultrasounds, it was the very moment where once again, everything changed and all he wanted to do was to be the best father he could beโ a better father from how his own father had been.
"You're not our father." Quill Sentry told his brother.
"Remember what my father say," Yoshi added, placing a hand on his shoulder. "You are who you choose to be, not what others make you."
Flash Sentry couldn't help but chuckle, looking up with a small smirk. "You just gotta use Sensei's words against me."
"If it works, it works."
Footsteps were heard and the three men turned their heads to see Tang Shen and Twilight Sparkle walking over to themโ Tang Shen was carrying Miwa, who was asleep in her arms. Quill nodded at the two and took a few steps back, letting his sister-in-law move over to his brother while Yoshi and Tang Shen moved to the other side of the dojo.
Flash Sentry let his gaze move to his wife's baby bump while she stood next to him. He reached out slowly and placed a gentle hand on it and the moment he did, he felt a kick against his head as if it was his little girl was letting him know that she was in there.
And the fact that his wife was carrying their first childโ a little girl that would be born out of their true love, he couldn't help but feel terrified at the thought of becoming a father.
It didn't help his little girl had a prophecy that rested on her shoulders while he and his wife had no way of knowing if she'd be able to reach her futureโ one that she rightfully deserved.
"I'm sorry, Twilight," Flash Sentry apologizes softly to her, his eyes stared at the baby bump for a few more seconds before meeting her violet eyes. "I know I told you that we'll figure something out, but... I'm scared. I don't know how to help Briana and... that scares me."
Twilight Sparkle gave a small smile, a look of understanding in her eyes. "I know, I'm scared too," she admitted, resting a hand on his. "But you're not alone in this. I'm here, and we'll figure something out." She took his hand and rested it on her swollen stomach where her baby bump was. "For Briana."
Flash Sentry gives her a small smile before he rests his forehead against hers. "I can't lose either of you."
"You won't." Twilight Sparkle reassures him.
"Pathetic," a familiar voice said bitterly, making the four people turn their heads to see Saki standing on the dojo porch. "I will not abide by this dishonor."
"Saki." Tang Shen whispers, latching onto her husband.
"Shen, I ask you one last time. Make the right choice." Saki ordered.
In that very moment, Tang Shen made eye contact with her best friend as she recalled what Twilight had told her earlier. A firm look settling onto her face as she moves to step behind Yoshi. "I have already made it."
Saki lets out a short, low growl as his muscles tensed.
"Take Miwa and go, Shen." Yoshi told his wife.
Tang Shen felt her eyes widened. "But, Yoshi... Saki... please!" She begs, holding her sleeping daughter closer to her. "You are brothers."
"No, we were never blood." Saki snaps.
Yoshi's jaw clenched tightly as a flick of hurt was shown in his eyes. "Shen, go... now."
"Twilight," Flash Sentry whispered to her. "Go with Shen."
Twilight Sparkle hesitated, looking up at her husband. There was something about this she didn't like. "Flash..."
"It'd be okay, Twilight," Quill reassured her. "I'll make sure Flash catches up to you later."
Tang Shen hesitates, looks at Saki then at her best friend, and then bows her head. She moves past her husband, then Saki, as she and Twilight Sparkle move down the dojo steps and out to the base of a small footbridge that was surrounded by sakura blossom trees. The two women stop again before looking back at their respective husbands, who smiles at them, and the two return the smile before walking away.
Now, there stood the four friendsโ the four brothers. Three of them on the same side while the other one was against them with hatred, anger, and vengeance boiling inside of him.
"How can one love and hate someone so fiercely?" Saki questioned through gritted teeth.
"If your desire is to fall by our hands, brother... so be it."
๐๐๐
THE FIVE MUTANT turtles and Briana were leaping across the logs while scarring off the frightened ninja. Michelangelo dropped down with his kusarigama chain laced over his arms. "Booyakashaaaaa!" He howls evilly.
One of the ninja yells in Japanese and every frightened ninja starts running. One of them throws a cucumber at Michelangelo's face, who slumps it off his forehead and eats it. "Mmm, mmm, mmm, I'm starting to get a taste for these things." He comments.
"That's right, ninja," Leonardo says. "We yokai will steal your souls... through your butt!" He lets out a sinister laugh as Eclipse tackles two ninjas with a cackle. Donatello hops on his hands as he chases the frightened ninjas, laughing.
"Through your butt?" Eclipse repeats as the ninjas flee.
"What? That comes from real Japanese legend." Leonardo said as he slips down a tree trunk.
Suddenly, there's a loud howl coming from nearby and the ninjasโ both human and mutantโ freeze in their place. Although, the five mutant turtles and Briana had small smirks on their faces, knowing who it was while the ninjas only panicked more.
"OOKAMIKAPPA!" One of the ninjas panicked in Japanese as the ninjas start searching for a way out.
From a nearby bush, the only thing that the ninjas saw was a pair of glowing yellow eyes and the sound of an animalistic snarl mixed with a growl was heard, which was enough to send the ninjas running off.
๐๐๐
"TWILIGHT?" THE WOMAN herself pauses in her walking as she faces her best friend, who looks anything but calm and collected as she holds her sleeping daughter.
"Shen? What's wrong?" Twilight Sparkle asked.
"I have to stop them," Tang Shen said softly. "They're fighting, but I know they can resolve it peacefully. They're brothers, I have to fix this."
"Shen, noโ listen to me," Twilight Sparkle tried to convince her. "I hate that they're fighting too, but Saki... he's changed, Shen, for the worst. Saki isn't worth your life. Don't go back, do for it Miwa. Quill, Flash, and Yoshi will be okay, they have each other to help."
But Tang Shen only gives her a soft smile and for a split second, Twilight Sparkle could've swore that she saw tears pooling in her eyes. But before she could question it, Tang Shen was already setting the sleeping Miwa into her arms and although Twilight Sparkle was startled by the sudden move, she made sure to hold onto her goddaughter gently and firmly, making sure not to drop her.
"You're the best friend I could ever ask for and the sister that I always wanted, Twilight," Tang Shen said, tears filling in her eyesโ as if a part of her knew that this was going to be the last time she saw her. "And I know you're going to be an amazing mother, that's why I wanted you and Flash to be Miwa's godparents. I know you'll protect my daughter and love her as if she was your own, just like I know her and your own little girl will grow up to be the best of friends and sisters like us."
"Shenโ" Twilight Sparkle chokes out, tears filling her violet eyes.
But it was too late as Tang Shen was already running back to the dojo.
"Shen!"
But her best friend had already disappeared from her view while she stood there, holding onto her goddaughter.
"Oh, Miwa..." Twilight Sparkle whispered, cradling her goddaughter close to her chest. Her eyes widened when she saw a plume of smoke in the air. "No..."
And so, holding onto Miwa tightly, Twilight Sparkle rushed back to the dojo as fast as she could as well.
๐๐๐
"SHEN, WAIT!" BUT Tang Shen had already ran into the burning dojo while Twilight Sparkle panicked, holding Miwa in her arms, who had just awoke and was now crying. Not only was her best friend was inside there, but so was everyone else she cared about.
Twilight Sparkle looks around and spots a chair that was a safe distance from the burning dojo. She rushes over to it and cradles the crying child in her arms, pressing a soft kiss on her forehead.
"I promise, I'll be back for you, Miwa," Twilight Sparkle whispered to her. "And I'll make sure to bring your mother too."
And with that, Twilight Sparkle gently rests the crying baby underneath the chair before running into the burning dojo, hearing seven voices call out from behind.
"Twilight!"
"Twilight, wait!"
As the seven teens raced forward, Briana was the only one that managed to get inside the burning dojo before the five mutant turtles and Henry are blocked when the flaming rafters collapses in front of the door, blocking the path. Briana stares at the blocked entrance and her siblings being on the outside of the burning dojo at the moment, she keeps going.
As she rushed through the burning hallway, Briana couldn't help but bring an arm up to her lips as she coughed into it, feeling the smoke being exhaled into her lungs the more further she walked, and despite that, she kept going.
On the outside of the burning dojo, the five mutant turtles and Henry managed to pull off the burning wood, breaking it off and clearing a path for them. They ran inside, catching up with Briana as they ran towards the dojo, making sure to avoid Saki, who was running out of the dojo.
The seven teens ran towards the collapsed pile of wood and immediately got to work, moving the beams out of the way. As Leonardo, Eclipse, Henry, and Raphael got Yoshi, Twilight Sparkle, Flash Sentry, and Quill Sentry out of the burning building, the only ones left were Briana, Donatello, and Michelangelo remove another beam, only to find the lifeless body of Tang Shen, whose back was badly injured from Saki's attack with blood oozing out from the wound.
Both Michelangelo and Briana looked away, biting back their tears while Donatello ushers them away despite his own sorrow before picking up her body and walking out the door.
Yoshi is the first to wake up, holding his head. He looks up at the blazing fire before him, then down at his folded hand. He opens it to see the same little blossom that Tang Shen had given him clutched inside. His eyes fill with tears as he sobs, pressing the flower to his heart.
"Shen!" He cries, holding onto his wife's lifeless body. When his friends wake up, Quill Sentry rests a hand on his shoulder while tears pricked at his eyes.
"Oh, Shen..." Twilight Sparkle whispers, tears filling her eyes before they widened. "Miwa. Oh, my, god, Miwa!"
"Twilightโ"
But Twilight Sparkle was already rushing off to where she left her goddaughter underneath the chair, her husband following her closely. By the time that the pregnant woman reaches the chair, her eyes widened with horror when she doesn't find her goddaughter where she left her.
"No. No, no, no!" Twilight Sparkle yells, the tears that had pooled in her eyes were silently falling down her face. "She... she was here! I..."
"Twilightโ"
"Miwa was here, Flash!" Twilight Sparkle says, facing her husband while her tears fell. "I know she was because I was the one that placed her there to keep her safe! She... she can't be gone!" Her voice trembles as she chokes back on her sobs. "I... she trusted me to keep her safe and... I failed. I failed my best friend, Flash! Miwa's gone and it's all my fault!"
Flash Sentry pulls his sobbing wife into his arms as he holds her close. "It wasn't your fault, Twilight, you did the best you could. The only one at fault here is Saki."
But what neither one of the four adults knew was that the seven teens had been watching the scene sadly before backing up into the shadows and fleeing back to their campsite.
๐๐๐
BY THE TIME that it was morning again, none of them were celebrating. Donatello pulled out his phone and saw that the rest of their friends had reappeared in the picture again. "Everything's back to normal... finally." He says.
"Except for the part where we're stuck thousands of miles from home and sixteen years in the past!" Raphael snapped.
"We might as well get used to it, guys," Michelangelo responded. "Maybe being a yokai won't be so bad."
A time door opened above them and Renet was floating dow to them, only to fall the rest of the way. "Yes!" She jumped back to her feet. "Finally, I found you!"
"Renet!" Michelangelo quickly hugged her.
"Heh, it's good to see you too, Mikey."
"About time! Where the hell have you been?" Eclipse snapped. "We've been stuck here for days!"
"It's not my fault, seriously," Renet said. "I've spent, like, the last six months trying to hunt you guys down."
"Why?" Henry asked. "Why did we have to come here? Of all times? Of all places?"
"It was the scepter," Renet explained as Michelangelo released her. "It brought you here... to make sure Splinter, Flash, Twilight, and Quill survived."
"Wait," Donatello started. "So it's always been this way? We were always destined to come here in time and save Splinter's life?"
Raphael groaned. "Can you just take us home now? My head is starting to hurt."
"No problem. Future New York, here we come." Renet held up the scepter, opening a time door.
As they were going through the black void, lightning suddenly crashed around them and Renet frowned in confusion, looking at her scepter. "Something's wrong again! Something's messing with the scepter!"
Henry, Raphael, and Eclipse groaned in unison. "Not again!"
Amongst the chaos, Briana looks past Renet and for a split second, she could've swore that she saw the silhouette of a person floating behind the time-traveler. It looked like the person's hands were glowing as Briana locked eye contact with the silhouette and the person mouthed the words: it'd all be explained soon, dear.
Briana blinked in confusion and before she knew it, the five mutant turtles and Henry were pulled back. "Guys!" She and Renet yelled.
But it was too late as the five mutant turtles and Henry were pulled back into a void that snapped shut the moment they went through, their screams echoing around them while Renet and Briana were left on their own.
๐๐๐
LIKE BEFORE, GROANS came from the six teenagers as they fell out of the time door and hit the ground hard. They pushed themselves up and as they did, Raphael rubbed his head.
"I hate time travel. I hate it," Raphael complained. "Where the hell are we now!?"
"Uh, guys?" Eclipse asked, getting their attention. "You might want to look at this."
They walk over to where she was and their eyes widened to find themselves standing within an empty, quiet kingdom. The only sound there was were the crickets that chirped throughout the night.
"What the fโ"
"Where are we?" Leonardo asked, cutting the red-masked mutant turtle off.
As they all looked around, Henry spotted a flag hanging outside a window and in the middle of the flag was a familiar symbol of a crystal starโ a symbol that he's seen in his history textbook during school.
"There's no way..." Henry said.
"What is it, dude?" Michelangelo asked.
"That symbol on the flag," Henry explained as he pointed at the flag. "I've seen it in my history textbook. It's for the Crystal Empire."
"Wait, so we're in theโ" Donatello started.
"Don't! Don't you dare do it!"
Henry and the other mutant turtles turned to the red masked mutant turtle with confusion on their faces while Raphael stared back at them with the same look of confusion as he held up his hands in defense.
"Wasn't me." He said.
"What do you mean it wasn't you? That was your voice." Leonardo said.
Henry's ears pricked in a direction as he looked towards it. "Come on, this way."
Henry led the way as the six of them walked towards a field, only to find a future version of Raphael standing in front of what appeared to be a future version of Briana being held back by a unknown woman, who held a sword against the girl's throat, just a few feet away from him.
The unknown woman had long brown hair and blue eyes. She had a black jumpsuit with red lines going down the sides of her legs.
"Don't do this," the future Raphael pleaded, holding his hands out towards them. "You can'tโ damn it, she's one of your grandkids! Don't do it!"
"That doesn't matter, Raphael," the woman told him seriously. "She isn't just my grandkidโ Briana here is also the prophesied Last Destroyer, and the prophesied Last Destroyer cannot live or else, Davina will come for us all."
"I don't care! I don't care about Davina!" The future Raphael snapped, panic in his emerald green eyes. "Let her come! We'll find a way to stop her! Justโ just don't do it!"
"Raphie," the future Briana choked out, holding back her sobs as tears pooled her sapphire blue eyes, knowing what was about to happen. "Raphie, I... tell Kaz that I love him."
"Hey, no, don'tโ you're gonna tell him yourself, okay? You're gonna be all right, Little Warrior," the future Raphael said to her before glaring at the woman behind his youngest sister. "I swear to god, if you do it, I'll kill you! Don't do it! Iโ I'm begging you!"
"Raphie!" The future Briana choked out again, wanting to beg him to pass the messageโ hell, she wanted him to pass the messages that she had for everyone but she knew she wouldn't have time to say it all.
"I'm sorry, but... you lose, Raphael." The woman said.
"NOOO!"
Everything moved in slow-motion as the six teens were forced to witness the woman pulling her sword away from the girl's throat and just as the future Briana squeezed her eyes shut while the future Raphael started running, the woman plunged her sword into Briana's back before pulling it out. And just as the woman backed up and disappeared after throwing a smoke bomb, the future version of Raphael fell to his knees after catching his youngest sister in his arms, whose eyes wouldn't open as her breathing slowly came to a stop.
"No, no, no," the future Raphael said, holding his youngest sister in his arms while her body went limp. "Hey, hey, baby sis. No, no, Bri. Briana, Briana..." tears pooled in his emerald green eyes as he held her close.
The six teens stood back, watching the entire scene with wide eyes and horror written on their faces. None of them moved as neither one of them knew what to said. From behind them, a time door opened and Renet grabbed them, yanking them into the time door as it closed after the six of them were pulled through.
The six teens landed on a rooftop, now back in modern New York Cityโ in their time. They whirled their heads to the time-traveler that stood in front of them.
"Okay, I know you guys are probably confused but before you ask, I dropped off Briana before coming to get you guys. She's back at the lairโ"
"What the hell was that!?" Raphael snapped, cutting her off. "What did we just saw!?"
Renet hesitated to answer, holding the scepter protectively. After a few seconds, she sighed. "The future."
"The future," Donatello started slowly before completely losing it. "THE FUTURE!? How the hell was that the future!?"
"And why were we in the Crystal Empire? We don't even know where it is!" Henry added.
"Well, not yet," Renet said with a nervous laugh. "But one day, you will."
Eclipse felt her eyes twitched. "You better start explaining and fast!"
"Raph was there and so was Briana, and some womanโ" Leonardo started. "Who even was that!? That version of Raph said something about Briana being one of her grandkids."
"Iโ I can't tell you guys."
"THE HELL YOU MEAN YOU CAN'T TELL US!?" Raphael snapped.
"That woman... she killed Briana," Michelangelo said, still coming to terms with what they had just witnessed. "That... is that actually gonna happen?"
"I don't know." Renet said honestly.
"You don'tโ how the hell do you not know!? You're from the future!" Henry snapped.
"You guys shouldn't have seen that," Renet said with a light frown. "I don't know why the scepter made you guys see thatโ"
"Who cares about why we did! We still saw it!" Eclipse snapped. "And you didn't answer the question! How the hell do you not know!?"
Renet sighed. "I don't know because I don't know what's going to happen to Briana in the future."
"How do you not know? It doesn't make any sense!" Leonardo argued.
"It's because of what she is," Renet explained. "She's the prophesied Last Destroyer and because of that, there's multiple endings as to what could happen to her. That's what happens with the Destroyers, you don't know what happens in their futures. It's been like that for the other Destroyers in the past."
"We just watched her die," Raphael said. "We just watched myself try to save her but I didn't make it in time. You better tell us that this isn't going to happen to her."
"What you guys saw was one possibility of what could be her future. What may be, what may not." Renet explained.
"So, that means we can stop it from happening, right?" Donatello suggested. "You said we go to the Crystal Empire one day so, if that day comes, we'll figure out how exactly it happenedโ who that woman is and we can just make sure that we don't meet her. And if we don't meet herโ"
"Guys, this is why I wasn't supposed to tell you anything," Renet said. "Nobody is supposed to know this much about their futures, just like there's infinite universes in the multiverse, there are infinite possibilities to the future, especially to Briana's future. Her future especially is always bending, always changing, and there's nothing you guys can do to stop it."
"And what? We're just supposed to let her die?" Eclipse asked with a scoff.
"We spent our whole lives protecting her and now, we're just supposed to let her die?" Raphael added. "Over my dead body am I letting that happen!"
"Look, it isn't written yet, and it might not even turn out to be what you saw," Renet said seriously. "It was just a possibility. You guys just have to focus on the here and now. You guys have to live your lives."
When nobody said anything after a while, Renet cleared her throat. "I think it's time for me to go." She readied her scepter as she heads to the edge of the building.
"Will we ever see you again, Renet?" Michelangelo asked.
"Let's hope not." Raphael said, crossing his arms over his chest while Michelangelo growled at him.
Renet ignored his comment as she turned to the orange masked mutant turtle. "Maybe someday, Michelangelo." She kissed his cheek, making him swoon, and she opens a new time door. She flies towards it, waving. "Goodbye, Danger Force! See you in history!"
The window closes and the six teens are finally left alone on the same rooftop they had been on before the whole time-travel adventures started.
Leonardo sighed. "Let's just go home, guys."
Nobody had any complaints as they all turned and began to leave, making their way to head back to the lair as none of them wanted to talk about the possibility of what could happen to Briana just yet.
"So, asides from getting to see my parents in the pastโ even though they didn't know who I was, the others got a peek at possible ending for my future."
