"New York City, here we come!"
"CROGNARD, MEGALORD ZARRIK'S soldiers guard the entrance to the fortress of the Ragnaroid."
"You will never get through the gates of eternal stagnation, Crognard!"
"Eh, Spooch, Spooch! It's impossible, Crognard! What are we going to spooch?"
"Crognard must think. Spooch will storm the walls and distract the Zarrik army."
"Spooch!"
The cartoon that was playing on the tv was suddenly interrupted by a breaking news report. "Ever since the invasion that is known as the invasion of New York, humans want to know what is going on. Everything is... fine. No human is allowed in or out of the city until Kraanโ uh, the military allows it. This is Carlos Kraang O'Brien Gambe."
"Hmm, did the news guy seem a little Kraang-y to you?" Michelangelo asked.
Raphael smacked the back of his head with a rolled up magazine. "A little? What, are you on the pepperoni?"
"The kraang may have the rest of the world fool, but not us," April said. "What's the plan, guys?"
"Step one is: storm the castle walls," Leonardo responded. "Donnie?"
Donatello spread a blueprint on the table. "It's not as heavily armored as the ShellRaiser, but it's more maneuverable, has more weapons, and gets better gas mileage."
"Then, let's stop jabbering and build this sucka!" Casey said, shoving Donatello aside to get a closer look at the prints.
As everyone began to leave the house to head to the barn, Henry was the last one to start exiting the kitchen when suddenly, he got pulled to the side and away from the exit or any windows.
"See, I told you that you and Leo would figure out a plan," Eclipse said to him, a soft smile on her face. "I'm really proud of you."
"It wasn't just us, a lot of the ideas are yours," Henry said, a small yet shy smile formed on his face. "I... I couldn't have done it without you."
"Well, we do make quite a team, huh?" Eclipse asked.
"I like to think so." Henry admitted, yet there was a small look on his faceโ one that Eclipse took quick notice of.
"Alright, I know that look," Eclipse said. "What's wrong?"
"I mean, nothing's wrong. It's just..." Henry trailed off for a second before he continued. "I guess I'm just a little nervous, this is huge. Leo's finally healed up and we're going back to take back the city. If the plan fails, we could end up losing the city, or we might not find Master Splinter, or we might not be able to stop the kraang, orโ"
Henry's nervous rambling was cut off by Eclipse holding up a finger to his lips, as she stared directly into his hazel-brown eyes.
"But, none of those things will happen because this plan isn't going to fail," Eclipse said, removing her finger from his lips as she continued. "You and Leo spent the last few weeks planning this. It's gonna work."
Henry couldn't help but smile softly at her confidence, his eyes meeting hers. The two were just about to lean in when...
"Oh, my god."
The moment that the third voice was heard, both Henry and Eclipse were quick to stop leaning closer and step back, their heads immediately looking over to find Piper standing there.
"What are you two..." Piper started before she cut herself off. "Wait, I know. It's so obvious!"
Both Henry and Eclipse felt their eyes widened a little at her words, a small look of panic crossed over their faces. "It is?" They both asked in unison.
"Yeah," Piper said. "You guys are trying to think of where we're all gonna hide after we find your dad, but I think I heard Mikey talking about somewhere to hide." Piper started to make her way towards the kitchen's exit. "I guess I'll let you two figure out then. I'll meet you guys in the barn."
Both Henry and Eclipse waited till they heard Piper closing the door to the farmhouse to let out a sigh of relief.
"That was close," Eclipse commented. "I mean, I know we don't care if they know about us but for now, I kinda just want to share it with you for right now, you know? Plus, I just want the time to be right for when we tell everyone."
"Yeah, I get it," Henry said in agreement, holding his hand out. "This isn't the time. We can't take a chance on anyone doing anything different, including us."
However, rather than grabbing his hand, Eclipse smiled softly before she pulled Henry closer to her, pushing her lips onto his for a kiss. Henry doesn't hesitant to return the kiss as he holds her close. The two remain in the position for a second longer before pulling away, starting to make their way towards the exit.
Eclipse gives him a small smirk. "Did you think I'd leave here with just a handshake?"
Henry gave a small chuckle, smiling softly at her. "No, course not."
The next thing that happens is that everyone is working together on the blueprint that Donatello made. After long hours of work, the new and improved Party Wagon was finally done and what took even longer was the final cleanups and packing everything up, and then packing their belongings into the van. Briana hitches the Turtle Racer to the back of the Party Wagon and making sure that it wouldn't come undone while Donatello say bye to Dr. Cluckingsworth.
Then, Briana took one last look at the farmhouse, letting herself take the surroundings in one last time. It was bittersweet to herโ a part of her couldn't wait to leave the farmhouse behind after all the new mutants or creatures that made it a nightmare but another part of her knew that she was going to miss this place as well, already thinking back to the good memories; hanging out with her family and having fun with them.
It was those good memories that gave all of them the chance to step back from always having to be the hero and just get to be a teenager for a whileโ to act wild and have fun with those that they care about. In those memories, they were just teenagers enjoying their time together as they talked, laughed, made fun of each other, or hung outโ it was the chance to feel like what they always were; teenagers, children.
That's all they were in that one momentโ just teenagers looking to help one of their own get back on their feet and have a good time, not teenagers who always had to step up to be the hero or teenagers who always had the fate of the world on their shoulders.
And so, Briana took one last look at the farm house, smile softly, and then turned as she got back into the back of the van.
Michelangelo shut the door close once everyone was inside. "Hello, New York City!"
And with that, Casey started the engine and they were off to take back their home.
๐๐๐
EVENTUALLY, THEY FINALLY reached the Brooklyn Bridge that lead right into the city. "Alright, team," Leonardo started. "First, we track down Master Splinter. Then, we hunt for Karai and free the city."
"So, what's the plan, fearless leaders?" Raphael asked as the Party Wagon got closer to the city's outskirts. "Ninja-y or all-out attack?"
"Ninja-y," Henry responded. "We park at the gate and sneak in. Then, we split up and search for Master Splinter."
"And my dad," April added.
Suddenly, bright lights turned on, blinding all of them as Casey hit the brakes while the van skidded to a halt.
"Oh, man!" Michelangelo panicked. "They got us, dudes! The jig is up, homeslice!" He grabbed Raphael and shook him.
Eclipse, getting annoyed, grabbed him and clamped a hand over his mouth as the five mutant turtles got down, ducking down to stay out of sight.
Military guards came into view along the wall. "Citizen! This is EPF Quarantine Sector 7B. Roll down your window." One of the guards approached the driver's side and Casey rolled down the window. "Authorized personnel only. No one goes in or out of New York City."
"Whatever you say, army dude." Casey responded as the soldier returned to his post.
"You see that?" Kaz asked, noticing the small device in the back of the soldier's head. "It's a Kraang mind control device. I bet they all have them."
"They're all controlled?" Michelangelo asked. "Like... invasion of the Brain Suckers?" He whimpered as Eclipse pulled him out of sight again.
Casey saw that the guards were charging up their guns as he smirked a little, throwing down his mask. Then, he slammed his foot on the gas pedal, making everyone but him scream. With nothing to hold onto, the five mutant turtles, Henry, Briana, Kaz, Mara, April, Kyle, Piper, and Chloe ended up getting thrown back onto the floor.
"Casey, what are you doing!?" Zane demanded.
"STOP!" The soldiers ordered, firing at the van.
Casey lowered the guard over the windshield, weaving through the bullets before driving past the soldiers. He rammed right through the gate and into the city, away from the guards.
Mara gave a small laugh as she pushed herself back up. "Can we do that again?"
"NO!" Everyone but Briana shouted at her.
"What the hell were you thinking, Jones!?" Kaz snapped.
Raphael then shoved Casey. "You got any brains behind that hockey mask?" He also snapped.
"I had no choice, guys," Casey responded. "They were firing up their blasters."
"Uh, guys?" Chloe asked, looking out at the empty streets. "Where's all the people?"
Piper nodded in agreement. "The place is completely deserted."
Everyone looked out the windshield to see the city in ruins. Crystal trees were everywhere and there were even some crystal trees in a few buildings. A small Krathatrogon was coiling around a street lamp and every light was completely off.
"Youโ you think the kraang mutated everyone?" Michelangelo asked.
Leonardo shook his head. "No way, not possible."
In order to concentrate on her powers, April closed her eyes. "Completely possible. I only sense a few hundred people left in the entire city. They're... gone. Millions of people just... gone!"
"One good thing: we haven't run into any Kraaโ" Michelangelo trailed off as the van stopped, only for Kraang droids to walk in front of them with their blasters aimed at them. "Oh, no! Why did I have to open my big mouth?"
The kraang started firing at the van. "It is the humans known as Casey Jones, Zane Carson, Kazimeras Smith, Mara Sparks, Henry Hart, Briana Hamato, and April O'Neil. Kraang! Eliminate for Kraang!"
Casey pulled out of the alley, only to find more droids waiting in the street.
"Man the defenses!"
"Readying soda cannons." Eclipse said as she and Michelangelo placed glasses on top of the cannons.
"Loading breath mints." Donatello tossed a pack of breath mints to Briana and the two loaded them into the cannons.
Michelangelo opened the side door, he and Donatello stepped out onto the small ledge created. "FIRE!" Michelangelo shouted as the two of them launched the cannons at the droids.
The soda bottles landed directly in the middle of the group. Two of the droids fell over and one started malfunctioning and shooting at the others.
"It stings! It stings!"
"Bomb-a-pult locked and loaded," Raphael said, jumping down into the van. "LAUNCH!"
He threw a lever, hurling an old-fashioned bomb into the center of the second group. It went off, a huge gas cloud erupting from the bomb. The kraang staggered and fell at the disgusting smell.
Immediately, Casey hit the gas and drove through the droids, smashing them and leaving them behind.
"Take a left," Donatello instructed. "There's a secret entrance to the subway right here," he pressed a button on his remote and the entrance opened for Casey to drive through.
Once they came to a stop, Henry opened the hatch on the top of the van, taking a quick look around the area as he did the best he could to use his wolf senses to see if there were any scents nearby. Finding it all clear, he jumped out and the rest followed.
"You think we'll be safe down here, dudes?" Michelangelo asked.
"Shh, full ninja mode." Leonardo ordered.
They all made their way through the subway cautiously, keeping themselves hidden in the shadows. They snuck through a subway station, coming to a halt behind a stairwell at a soft noise. They watched a few kraang droids and some Mousers head up the stairs.
Casey grabbed his hockey stick and moved to meet them but both Raphael and Kaz grabbed him and shoved him back against the wall. The sound of his gear hitting the wall caught a droid's attention. Luckily, they all managed to jump onto the rafters while the droid jumped off the stairs, walking off when the robot found nothing there.
"April, do you think you can use your powers to track down Splinter?" Eclipse asked. "You did it before."
"I can try, but... you said his mind is no longer one with his body, right? Which means he could be crazy... or unconscious, or... or who knows what?" April said.
"Yeah," Donatello agreed. "We still need to find him."
"Ooh, what about the lair?" Michelangelo suggested.
๐๐๐
THE LAIR WAS completely trashed with broken kraang droids scattered all around and on the floor. "Alright. Mikey, Bri, you two stay here." Leonardo instructed as they halted at the turnstiles.
"But I want toโ" Michelangelo was cut off when Briana pulled him back down into cover.
Leonardo vaulted over the half-wall into the lair with Henry, Raphael, Donatello, and Eclipse following close behind. They quietly made their way into the dojo and Henry jumped onto the pipes overhead, stopping at the entrance of Splinter's room. He hung upside down to open the doors and checked to make sure the coast was clear before dropping down and entering the room.
His ears twitched at the sound of yelling and the sound of laser-fire outside the room. He glanced out to see the others pressed up against the pillars as a kraang search drone fired past them. The drone's fire cut off as it paused, then shot at something away from the others, causing Henry's ears to twitch at the sound of a squeak that came from a rat, and then, the drone flew off away from the others.
Henry cautiously and carefully made his way back through the dojo and over to the others, grabbing Donatello's shoulder while startling him and the others in the progress. He shook his head and gave a signal for them to follow before leading the way out of the lair and back to where everybody else was, who were waiting near the entrance of LeatherHead's old home.
"No sign of sensei." Henry said.
"The kraang have some sort of freaky security system to make sure we don't come back." Eclipse added.
"Why not just go take it down and move back in?" Michelangelo asked. "I miss our home. I miss my comic books, my VHS tapes, my action kick unicorn man, my collection of human underwear."
Leonardo shook his head. "It's not that simple, Mikey. I don't think we can just move back."
"Guys, IโI thinkโ" April closed her eyes, putting her hands to her head and concentrating. "I think I sense Splinter close by. It's faint, andโ and he seems... different. Come on, hurry." She ran off, the others close behind.
As they came to the end of a tunnel, a familiar mutant rat was fighting off a couple of Mousers.
"Sensei!"
They started to pull out their weapons but stopped when Splinter completely took out the Mousers. He turned to them and hissed, down on all fours. He ran at them, knocking the five mutant turtles, Henry, and Briana aside before going after Casey. He jumped on the teenaged boy and snapped at him, trying to bite him.
"Ah, get him off of me! Get him off of me!" Casey shouted.
The five mutant turtles, Henry, and Briana quickly grabbed Splinter, pulling him off of Casey.
"It's okay, sensei," Donatello said. "It's us! We're your children!" Splinter stopped struggling enough that Donatello released him, running around so he was in front of him. "Try to remember."
Splinter growled, snapping at him and Donatello backed up.
"Ugh, too strong!" Michelangelo said, struggling to keep hold of the mutant rat.
"Sensei, it's us!" Leonardo called. "It's us. Calm down."
Splinter continued to fight them for a moment as Leonardo released him, though he soon went still in Eclipse's and Raphael's hold, lowering his head and taking deep breaths.
Henry felt the wolf inside of him give a small growl in anger, wanting nothing more than to go after the man responsible for what Splinter was going through.
'This is all Shredder's fault.' Henry thought secretly to himself.
But then, his ears twitched to a sound coming from nearby and turned his head, eyes widening as a Mouser started shrieking, sounding the alarm.
"Oh, no! Foot!" Briana warned, as Foot Bots lowered into the room.
Leonardo drew his swords. "Get ready, team. Don't let them harm sensei."
They charged at the robots, fighting back against them in hopes of keeping them from getting to Splinter. Briana stabbed a robot through its head with her katana.
Just as Henry's ears pricked, he turned to see Foot Bots drop down on top of Splinter, tasing him.
"SPLINTER!" Leonardo shouted.
As one of the bots ran off with Splinter, three more charged at them, only to get taken down by Eclipse, Michelangelo, and Donatello.
"After him!" Henry said.
They bolted after the robot, stopping at a grate. On the other side was the same robot carrying Splinter away.
"Sensei!"
๐๐๐
ONCE THEY WERE able to find a way past the grate, Henry managed to track the bot's scent trail to a hatch that was guarded by two other Foot Bots. Henry took out a smoke bomb, dashing through the entrance of the tunnel and throwing it, blinding the robots. Then, Leonardo ran forward with his katanas drawn and cut down the robots.
Donatello took out his T-Phone, hooked it to a device, and knelt beside the hatch. "I'll have this baby open in no time." As if it was on cue, the hatch opened immediately. "Like a ninja do." He grinned.
"Pat yourself on the back later, Donnie," Eclipse said. "Let's move."
"Uh, guys...?"
Zane was looking up at the wall where there seemed to be a familiar shadow. The others looked up and gasped when they spotted the shadow while Henry felt his nose twitched as an unfamiliar scent reached his nose.
'Wait, that's not...' Henry thought secretly to himself.
Henry, and the others, turned around to find a short mutant with an overly large head and helmet to match. Everyone blinked and stared at the creature before bursting out laughing.
"What the heck is that supposed to be?" Raphael asked. "Mini-Shredder?"
"It's kind of cute," Michelangelo said. "Like a shrimp."
The creature, though, did not like the teasing it was getting and sprang at them, taking them all by surprise. Everyone managed to duck aside as it kicked off the wall and latched onto Casey's face.
"What the heck!?" Casey grabbed the mutant, throwing it off.
They all quickly bolted for the hatch, jumping down the hole and slamming the hatch shut before them, preventing the short mutant from following them. Henry and Leonardo took the lead as they made their way down the tunnel, coming into Stockman's lab as they stuck to the upper ceiling beams for cover and to remain hidden, just above a glass cage where Splinter was kept.
Baxter approached the cage, knocking on the glass to gain Splinter's attention. "You want the cheese, don't you?" Baxter held out a plate of cheese for him to see. "You want the nice Swiss cheese, yeah? Hmm, come on. Take the cheese. Come on."
Baxter spit out onto the cheese and ate it, laughing as he flew off. Henry clenched his fists as he fought back the wolf inside of him that growled in anger.
"I'm gonna squash that bug." Raphael mumbled.
"Agreed." Eclipse mumbled as well.
Once Baxter was out of sight, they jumped down in front of the cage, looking in at the mutant rat.
"Sensei," Leonardo called quietly, tapping on the glass to get his attention. "Sensei!"
Splinter hopped off the giant hamster wheel he'd been sitting on and came to join them.
"Quick, get him out of there." Henry said softly as Donatello managed to hacked into the cage.
The glass lifted up and Splinter backed away from them.
"It's okay," Briana said gently, holding out a hand. "It's okay. There's gotta be a way to reach him."
"Red, remember the time you reached the turtles through their dreams?" Casey asked. "What if you could, like, do the same thing for Splinter? Yโyou know, mind-meld and stuff?"
"Hmm, based on my research on telepathy, it might be possible," Donatello said. "But there is only one way to findโ"
"What izz this!?" Baxter cut him off, hovering behind them as they all turned to him. "Bzz, turtles? Bzz, Henry? Bzz, Princess Briana? Here? You were all destroyed! Zzz!"
"How's this for destroyed?" Raphael hurled a shuriken at him, but the mutant fly dodged and started spitting acid at them.
"Look out!" Leonardo shouted as they all dodged. "April, try to wake Splinter up!"
And so, the five mutant turtles, Briana, and Henry jumped down to keep the mutant fly busy.
"Splinter?" Mara called as she, April, Kaz, Casey, and Zane approached slowly while Kyle, Piper, and Chloe stayed back a bitโ and Splinter backed himself against the wall. "Wake up, Splinter."
Splinter hissed at them.
"You are not a rat," Kaz said firmly. "You are Hamato Yoshi."
April put her hands to her head, closing her eyes and telepathically reaching out. Splinter groaned, clutching his head. He looked between them before launching himself at Casey, knocking him down and snapping at him.
"Not again!" Casey yelled. He got out his taser and shocked him, shoving the mutant rat off.
April, Kaz, Mara, and Zane were kneeling by the mutant rat, shaking him to try and wake him up.
"Come on, Master Splinter," April begged. "Come on!"
Splinter's eyes snapped open and he bolted up, startling them as they stumbled back. "I got this, guys." Casey said as he pulled out his bat.
But Splinter dashed forward, throwing Casey along with Kaz, Mara, and Zane aside and launched himself at April, pinning her to the wall. April managed to keep him back and from biting her.
"Master Splinter!" April said, grabbing his head and connecting their minds. "Look!"
Splinter stopped, closing his eyes. He lifted his hands, grabbing April's wrists and moving her hands away from his face.
"Uh, Splinter?" Mara asked cautiously.
Splinter turned to look at them before looking over to find the five mutant turtles, Henry, and Briana struggling with some mutant clones of Shredder. He ran to help them.
"Nice job, April," Zane said. "You did it."
"Thanks." April said with a smile as the rest of them headed out to join the others.
"Father?" Raphael asked.
"Sensei," both Henry and Leonardo said in unison.
Splinter turned to them, smiling. "My sons and daughters."
Immediately, the five mutant turtles, Henry, and Briana wasted no time in running over to him and hugging him.
"You're back," Briana said.
"IโI can't believe it." Donatello added.
"How I have missed you, my sons and daughters," Splinter said before he looked over to where the others hung back. "And the rest of my family."
"Just, please don't try and eat my face anymore." Casey responded.
"So, the turtles, Henry, and Princess Briana live." A familiar, low voice filled the room and Henry's ears twitched at the tone, immediately clenching his fists as he held back the growl that threatened to come out. They all looked up as Shredder and Jake came into view overhead with a handful of Foot Bots and TigerClaw. "And the rat thinks like a man again. Now you will know when my blade is at your throat."
Henry found himself glaring daggers with pure rage and hatred in his eyes, clenching his fists tightly as the wolf inside of him growled, wanting nothing more than to come out.
Splinter took a fighting stance but Leonardo grabbed his arm. "Wait, sensei."
Splinter nodded. "Yes, now is not the time to fight."
Leonardo took a glance at their enemies, making eye contact with Jake as he glared back at the eighteen-year-old with a hateful look on his face. For a split second, he forgot about stopping Splinter from fighting as the urge to fight Jake grew inside of him.
Henry, however, saw it and grabbed his arm. "Leo." He said firmly, snapping the blue masked mutant turtle to reality.
Leonardo nodded and Eclipse threw down a smoke bomb, allowing them to escape.
๐๐๐
EVERYONE WERE ON their way through the subway tunnel when a loud thud sounded from overhead. TigerClaw hung down in front of the windshield. "There is no escape!" He roared, trying to break through the windshield.
Michelangelo already had a plan in mind. "Hey, TigerClaw... meet Sir Siz-a-lot!"
A deer head popped up on the top of the van, shooting out a blast of flames and knocking the mutant tiger off. He hit the front of the van before rolling down as it drove past.
"Haha! Party Wagon is full on effect, boy!" Michelangelo cheered as they reached the surface.
Donatello released. "We made it."
"Yeah, by the skin of our noses." Eclipse said.
"Now, where do we go?" Briana asked. "We can't go back to the lair."
"Homes are transitory," Splinter responded. "What matters is that we are together."
"We still need a place to hang our masks, sensei," Leonardo said. "Where are we gonna live?"
"Well, there's the old power plant, or maybe an abandoned subway tunnel." Donatello suggested.
Michelangelo grinned. "Wait, I have the greatest idea ever!"
"Do we really wanna hear this?" Raphael asked.
"It's secret, fortified, and no one would ever think to look for us there."
They soon found themselves inside the boarded-up Antonio's Pizza shop, looking around.
"Perfect, right?" Michelangelo asked with a smile.
"I wouldn't exactly say 'perfect'," Raphael responded.
"It will serve for now," Splinter said.
"Next up, take the city back." Leonardo said.
"And find my dad," April added. "He's out there... somewhere. It's like he's right here. Right next door."
"Master Splinter was back with us and things are slowly starting to go our way. Soon, we'll finally take back our city from the kraang."
