"So, asides from Zane, I'm usually the other peacemaker of the group when it's usually an argument between Donnie and Mara, and this is a perfect example of that."

"SO, WHY AM I always stuck in the back with the groceries?" Donatello questioned as he, Mara, and April were driving back to the farmhouse after the grocery store.

"Well, somebody has to make sure the eggs don't break, gappy." Mara said from behind the wheel.

"We don't even buy eggs, we have chickens!" Donatello argued before narrowing his eyes at the teenaged girl. "I know what you're up to, Sparks. You always get to drive, I wonder why."

"Well, maybe because a giant turtle driving a hippie bus seems a little suspicious!" Mara retorted.

"Alright, guys!" April interrupted. "I'd just like to have one peaceful trip to the store where the two of you aren't at each other's throats." Both Mara and Donatello looked away from each other. April sighed, looking out the window. "Now, that's better. Peace and quiet."

A car suddenly pulled out in front of them, slamming on the breaks. The van hit the car's bumper and skidded, but Mara managed to keep control.

"Oh, hell no!" Mara snapped angrily. "A little chip 'n chase, huh!?"

"Just pull over, Mara," April said sternly. "Get out of the way!"

"Nobody forces Mara Sparks off the road!"

Mara slammed the van into the car, not doing anything to it. Then, the car crashed into the van, which spun out of control and hit a tree.

"Everyone okay?" April asked.

"Nobody forces Mara Sparks off the road, huh?" Donatello asked, a slab of meat on his head.

Mara didn't said anything as she glared at him before angrily slamming her fists on the wheel, blaring the horn.

THE THEME MUSIC to Crognard the Barbarian plays and everyone takes a seat to watch the cartoon.

"Muurg has the jewel of Koweewah!" Crognard exclaims as his team rides down a wide path.

A centaur with a goat face cackles, cradling a giant pink jewel in his arms. "You'll never catch me, Crognard!" He laughs again as Crognard unleashes his sword as Wizardess uses her powers to create Muurg's hooves. "What's this?" The centaur asks, slipping and sliding.

"Aah!" Crognard exclaims as he leaps onto the centaur's back and starts tugging at the jewel desperately. "Give me back my mystic jewel! Rah!"

"Dude! That centaur doesn't stand a chance against Crognard the Barbarian!" Michelangelo exclaims.

Then, the show gets cut off as a news announcement comes onto the screen. "WHYY breaking news! A word of warning for those planning on driving tonight," an announcer said. A picture of a flaming hot rod appears along with words saying "Lunatic on Wheels." "Stay home! Reports are coming in of a mysterious driver running people off the road."

"That qualifies as breaking news out of here?" Eclipse asks.

"Back in the city, every driver's a reckless driver," Michelangelo agrees before pumping his fist as if leading a revolution. "Bring back Crognard!"

"Yeah, bring back Crognard!" Kyle said in agreement, reaching over as he and Michelangelo shared a quick high-five.

"It was him!" Donatello said as everyone looked over to see him, Mara, and April enter the living room, their arms loaded with grocery bags. "That's the maniac who nearly trashed us!"

"You ran into that nut?" Leonardo asked.

"More like he ran into us!" Mara grumbles, setting the bag she was holding down before she punched the palm of her hand. "We gotta get back out there and teach that guy a lesson! There's no way I'm letting a crazy driver think they can get away with knocking us off the road!"

"Mara, it's not worth it," April stated, setting down the bag that she was carrying onto the table. "Just be glad we're all okay..."

"Yeah, we'reโ€” ughโ€” mostly okay..." Donatello said, sitting down in a chair. "I got shell-lash trying to save all the food." He gave Michelangelo a look.

Michelangelo hugged one of the bags. "A noble sacrifice, D!"

"Your neck okay, Donnie?" April asked, walking over to him. She placed her hands along his neck and started massaging it.

The moment that Mara saw that, she didn't know why but there was a small bubble of jealousy and annoyance growing in her stomach at the sight of April massaging the turtle's neck as she found herself glaring at the purple masked mutant turtle.

"Ooh. Ooh, yeah, a little lower... aww, yeah, that's hitting the spot."

For a split second, Mara thought that her face was red with anger as she glared at Donatello, the small bubble of annoyance and jealousy continued to grow in her stomach.

Briana noticed the look on her face and looked over at where April stood before looking back over at Mara with a raised eyebrow, her lips pressed together as if she was trying to hide a smirk.

๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘

THE NEXT MORNING, Briana was inside the makeshift lab with her brother and Mara as she was helping Mara finish up fixing the old car that her and Casey had been working onโ€” all while Mara and Donatello kept throwing insults at each other.

"Hey, armpit, hand me and B that 1/4 inch socket." Mara said.

"Sure thing, barf-a-roni," Donatello retorted as he tossed the socket to Mara, who caught it without even looking.

She handed it to Briana, who took it and used it to work on the car. "How's it looking, B?"

"Pretty good," Briana answered without looking up from where she was working. "It'll be all set to go soon, M."

"Alright," Mara said with a smirk before directing her next words to Donatello. "This baby is gonna be awesome on the road, eh, Craang-breath?"

"Uh, kraang is with a 'K,' not a 'C,'" Donatello corrected.

"Says who?"

"The kraang!" Donatello said as he got up from the desk and walked over. "That one doesn't count, come up with another C-word."

"Okay," Mara said as she took the part that he had been working on and placed it back in the car. "Camel-face."

"Alright, that should do it," Briana spoke up before her brother could send her best friend another insult. She wipes a grease strain from her forehead as she looks over at them. "How about we take her out for a test drive?"

Mara lit up with a grin at those words, a hint of excitement in her eyes. "Oh, I'm totally down for that, B."

๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘

THE THREE OF them headed out to the open road as Briana and Donatello were with Raphael, Michelangelo, and Casey as the group were gathered at the Party Wagon, just a few roads down from where Mara was set up with the car.

"You guys ready for Mara Sparks to break some speed records?" She asked through the T-Phone, a smirk on her face.

"I still think it's not fair you get to drive first."

"Sorry, Jones, but you're the one that lost our round of rock-paper-scissors," Mara reminded.

"We're ready, M," Briana then responded. "On my markโ€”"

Michelangelo snatched the T-Phone. "GO!"

Immediately, Mara slammed her foot on the gas and the car shot forward. "Alright, this is awesome!" She cheered.

She sped past the others and kept going without stopping, already with a plan in mind. After a few moments of silence, Mara couldn't help but groan a little when the lunatic didn't appear.

"Oh, come on!" Mara complained. "Why is it that the moment you're looking for someone, they don't even bother to show up?" Then, she glanced at her sideview mirror and noticed the same car from the night before as she blinked. "Never mind."

The car switched lanes, driving past her. Mara smirked and pressed on the gas, speeding up more to catch up with the car. She looked through the window to get a look at the driver, only for her jaw to drop open when she saw the mutated driver.

"What? You're a... mutant?" Mara questioned.

"You! You're that kid who tried to stop me from last night!" The driver exclaimed, having spotted Mara.

Mara turned her eyes back to the road and her eyes widened when she saw a car driving toward them. She gave a surprised yell and turned the wheel, shoving the mutant's vehicle away as the other car drove past safety.

Then, the mutated driver got into a shoving war, trying to push Mara closer to the edge of the road. "Oh, hell no! There is no way you're pushing me off the road!" Mara shouted.

Mara then gave the wheel a hard turn, getting free from the mutant's car but at the same time, she lost control of her own vehicle and hit the side rails as smoke spewed out from the engine. As the mutated driver drove past, Mara glared before slamming her fists on the wheel again. Then, as the Party Wagon pulled up, Mara climbed out of the driver seat.

"Mara, you okay?" Raphael asked as he and the others rushed over.

"Dudette, what happened to your sweet ride?" Michelangelo asked, looking at the damaged vehicle.

But Mara didn't have time to respond as Donatello stormed over, pushing past the others with a glare on his face. "You trashed it! You went after that maniac alone, didn't you?" He questioned angrily.

"I thought I could take him!" Mara protested. "And trust me, he's no road maniacโ€” he's a mutant!"

"A mutant?" Briana asked.

"Wicked!" Casey exclaimed.

"You totally ditched me and Bri! We could've helped!" Donatello added.

"That guy challenged me!" Mara argued. "There was no way that I was gonna let some maniac think they can try to push me off the road!"

"And how good did that turned out?" Donatello retorted with a glare.

"Guys, come on, let's bring this back to the house," Briana said, grabbing the rope for the damaged vehicle from the Party Wagon while motioning to her brothers. "Especially before you three get spotted."

"Hey, guys, check this out." Michelangelo called out, bending down to touch the glowing green ooze on the street.

Donatello rushed over and blocked his hand with his staff. "Don't touch that!" He looks at it before taking a vial and scooping some of the ooze in it.

๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘

THEY TOWED THE vehicle back to the farmhouse where the rest of the others emerged from the house while the others exited the Party Wagon. "Mara, are you okay?" April asked.

"What happened?" Kaz asked.

"Speed Demon, 2. Mara Sparks, zero." Donatello responded, sending a quick glare at the teenaged girl.

"Of course, you went after the guy." Zane responded as he shook his head at her.

"The cops can't catch him," Mara responded. "Someone's gotta bring that mutant down!"

"Oh, and that someone just has to be Mara Sparks, huh?" Henry retorted, crossing his arms over his chest.

"That's right, Hen, cause I'm the only one that can." Then, she walked off without another word.

It wasn't long till Briana found Mara inside of the barn, working on the damaged vehicle. She walked over and leaned against it.

"You do know that it's not just your fight, right?" Briana asked. "Donnie only got upset because you went after the guy on your own."

Mara didn't pull herself out from underneath the vehicle, but Briana did hear the slight hesitation in her voice before she spoke up as if she was a bit nervous to ask her best friend. "I know he is, but what about you? How are you not upset? Or are you?"

"Mara, you literally remind me of Raph most of the times," Briana said. "You think I didn't know that you were planning to go after him whenever I suggested the test drive or not?"

Mara gave a low chuckle. "Okay, that's fair."

Then, Donatello walked in as he gave his sister a small smile before heading to his desk. "So, you find the problem with that clutch?"

"I found part of the problem." Mara pushed herself from underneath the vehicle with a chicken in her arms. She lost her grip on the animal and the chicken got free, clucking as it left. "Mikey! Keep your chickens out of the barn, dude!"

Donatello sat down at his desk where he started studying the mutagen. Mara then stood up, faced him, before looking over at Briana, who held her hands up in surrender while nodding at her brother.

Mara sighed. "Look, Donnie, I'm sorry I went after Speed Demon without youโ€” or Bri."

"It's fine," Donatello responded, not turning around to face her. "The others and I are working on our own plan to bring that freak down."

"Donnie, you know that me, you, and Bri know that the hot rod is the best chance we got. We have to team up on this." Mara added.

Donatello sighed. "I don't know."

"Come on, you know I need your scientific genius, Donnie," Mara pleaded. "Pleeeeeaaaase?"

Donatello rolled his eyes at her before looking over at Briana, waiting for her thoughts.

"She's gonna do it with or without you, D," Briana reminded.

At those words, Donatello sighed as he stood up. "Alright, I have an ideaโ€” a crazy, awesome idea."

The next thing they knew was that the three of them got to work on the car immediately, taking parts from the kraang ship in the basement and using them for upgrades for the hot rod.

"This is awesome!"

"Yeah, I know." Donatello grinned, a cocky look on his face. "And it's almost ready." He got into the driver's seat, connecting his laptop to the car. "I just have to figure out the problem with the artificial intelligence for the onboard computer system." He started typing.

"Here chick, chick, chick..." Briana looked over to see Kyle entering the barn with another chicken in his arms. "Where did you go now?"

Briana walked over to him. "Kyle? Did Mikey lose another chicken again?"

"Well... this one snuck out while I was helping him feed the chickens this time," Kyle admitted with a sheepish smile before he looked past her and dropped the chicken he was holding. "Oops."

Briana looks behind him to see what he was looking at, and Donatello and Mara follow her gaze as their eyes widened.

"What!?"

"Holy toledo!"

"Aw, man!"

The chicken hopped down from the desk, its brain getting bigger. "Oh, this is just what I needed! Another mutant!" Mara complained.

The chicken jumped into the car and started pecking at the keyboard on the laptop. "Uh... what is she doing?" Kyle asked.

Donatello studied the text on the screen. "It's... it's communicating with us! Those are complex equations! Maybe we don't need artificial intelligence. Maybe we just needโ€”"

"Dr. Cluckingsworth, M.D." Kyle declared.

"Well, you heard him. Looks like we just needed Dr. Cluckingsworth, M.D," Briana said, giving Kyle a quick wink which made the twelve-year-old boy smile big before turning back to the now mutated chicken. "So, Doctor? Can you interface with the hot rod's computer?"

The chicken clucked, typing on the computer while Briana grinned, sharing a fist-bump with Donatello and Mara.

๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘

ONCE THEY HAD finished working on the hot rod, they gathered the others outside the barn to show off the newly upgraded vehicle. "Alright, you two, what are we going here?" Eclipse asked.

Donatello smirked. "I give you..." Mara drove the hot rod out of the barn. "The Turtle Racer!"

"Whoa."

"So, your co-pilot... is a chicken?" Kaz questioned, looking over at the chicken that was safety tucked in a cage on the car.

"You guys really think this car is gonna stop that maniac?" Leonardo asked.

"Without a doubt, Leo." Mara said with a grin. "With this baby, there's no way I'm losing again."

"Well, that's it. You're gonna end up turning into street pizza." April stated.

"More like roadkill." Zane added.

Michelangelo blinked. "Street pizza? That's like one of my top ten favorite kinds of pizzas!"

"Don't worry, guys," Briana reassured. "With all the kraang technology we put into the hot rod, it's one of the safest cars on the road."

Then, Cluckingsworth clucked, laying a green egg into the compartment of the cage.

"Uh, what is that?" Casey asked, pointing at the egg.

"Oh, that's a highly volatile, radioactive mutagen egg," Donatello responded. "But don't worry, it's perfectly safe." He rubbed the back of his neck. "Sorta."

The rest of them looked uneasily at those words. "I don't trust the kraang technology you guys added to it." Henry said.

"That's why I'm going with Mara," Briana reassured. "To make sure nothing happens."

Then, Mara smirked.

"What are we waiting for? We got a road maniac to stop."

๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘

LATER THAT NIGHT, Mara drove the Turtle-Rod out to where they first met the maniac while the others were all in the Party Wagon as backup.

"Alright, we got the plan, right?" Leonardo asked through his T-Phone.

"You got it, Leo." Briana replied.

Mara let out a small laugh. "Everything's gonna be fine, as long as you guys can keep up in that thing!" She then sped off ahead of them.

After a few short minutes, Dr. Cluckingsworth made a noise and started typing.

"What's wrong, doc?" Mara asked.

"Speed Demon approaching," Briana read. She looked up to see the Speed Demon heading right for them. "You ready for this, M?"

"You bet, B." Mara said with a smirk, before she warned through the phone. "Look out, guys, cause here he comes!"

"Roger that, Sparks!" Donatello responded. "And remember, stick to the plan!"

Speed Demon kept driving straight at them, not switching lanes even as the gap got smaller and smaller.

"Oh, so, you wanna play chicken, huh?" Mara grinned while Dr. Cluckingsworth clucked in protest. "Sorry, doc." She shifted the gear and slammed down on the gas.

"And I regret making this decision." Briana mumbled to herself.

Just as they were about to collide, she turned the car away while Henry, who was driving the van behind them, swerved away from the mutant to avoid the crash. Having lost control of that fight, Mara took a sharp U-turn after the Speed Demon, leaving the Party Wagon behind. To the mutant's surprise, Mara caught up quickly.

"Eh? Dah! I'm gonna splatter you across the road and grind you back in my grill like the bug you are!" Speed Demon taunted.

He slammed the corner of his hood against the back wheel of the driver's side, making Mara lose control. However, she wasn't quite out of the game just yet.

"I think it's time for you to slow down." Briana said with a smirk, pushing a button as the hot rod's cannon activated, shooting chemicals past the Speed Demon. The chemicals exploded and blocked him, causing him to braked and swerved while Mara took the lead. "Yes! It worked!"

Mara grinned, watching the road ahead. "Now, Donnie has to do his part and then, we win."

It didn't take long for them to hear Donatello's voice through the phone. "We got him!"

"Alright!" Briana cheered.

"Ha! That'll show you not to mess with Mara Sparks!" Mara smirked.

Then, Mara started to slow down and turned to meet up with the others. However, the victorious grins on both of their faces dropped when they noticed Speed Demon approaching.

Briana felt her eyes widened when she spotted the large creature sprouting out from on top of the car. "Donnie!?"

Speed Demon raced past them while Mara swerved, slamming her foot on the brakes.

"That stupid, ugly, pickle-headed...!" Mara said angrily, slamming her fists on the wheel again while mumbling the insults under her breath.

"M, forget the wheel! Start the car, we gotta go after him!" Briana said.

Mara was jiggling the key in the ignition, trying to start it back up. "Come on, come onโ€” start already!"

The Party Wagon pulled up alongside them and Henry leaned out the driver's side. "What happened?"

"It's the car!" Mara responded. "The car is the mutant!"

"And it got Donnie!" Briana added as well.

Then, Mara was finally able to get the engine started and backed up the car.

"Mara, wait! We need a plan!" Leonardo called.

"I got one!" Mara responded. "Get Donnie outta that mutant monstrosity, pronto!"

Mara then drove off with the Party Wagon close behind. "How far is he, doc?" Briana asked. Dr. Cluckingsworth started typing as she pecked away at the keys.

"Time to see what this baby can really do." Mara picked up speed, closing the gap between them and the Speed Demon. She pushed forward, smacking the hood into the bumper.

Speed Demon snapped his head in their direction. "You again?" He roared. He slowed down so they were side by side and rammed into Mara's car.

Mara pulled back, yanking a lever to drive right behind the mutant. She rammed into the bumper again. "Let my friend go, freak!" She glanced at the cliff edge. "Or I'll take us both down!"

"Never gonna happen, Mara Sparks!" Speed Demon retorted. "Donatello belongs to Speed Demon now, baby!"

Mara pulled up alongside Speed Demon again, ramming the rod into the car and making them both spin out. They hit the barrier, sending it flying but managed to stop themselves from falling off of the edge.

"Uh, Mara, how about next time we watch the edge?" Briana asked. "Because that was way too close for comfort."

"You know, I'm a sporting guy," Speed Demon started. "So, how about we race for it? You win, I get your super hot rod and all that sa-sweet technology!"

"Fair enough," Mara said.

"And I get you, Mara Sparksโ€” the only driver worthy of my competition."

Mara smirked. "Okay, no need to tell me that cause I already know I'm awesome. Deal!"

"First one to Dead Man's Curve... wins. Starting... NOW!" The Speed Demon races off.

"I know I said that you tend to act like Raph sometimes, but this? It's got to be the craziest thing you've done, you know, M?" Briana questioned, turning to her with a raised eyebrow. "What happens if you can't beat him?"

Mara looked at her and smirked. "Well, it's a good thing that my best friend is here to help me out."

Briana blinked before she playfully rolled her eyes and shoved her arm away from her. "Come on, let's go."

Then, Mara shifted the gears and raced after the mutant. The mutant kept a good distance between them, though Mara was able to catch up. The Party Wagon, however, wasn't so lucky on that.

Speed Demon tried to attack the hot rod but Mara swerved to dodge, pulling back behind the mutant. "Damn it! I can't get pass him!"

Speed Demon pulled a lever, gaining speed. "Ow! Speed Demon's gonna win the race, the car, and a brand new driver! Yeah, baby!"

They took a sharp curve and Mara straightened out as the curve ended. Briana flipped a couple switches and pushed a button that caused a firecracker to pop up behind Dr. Cluckingsworth as it went off, scaring the chicken. The chicken laid an egg, which dropped down onto a tube. The speed boost turned green, and Briana hit it as the hot rod rocketed forward.

"Whoa!"

"THIS IS SO AWESOME!"

They managed to catch up with the Speed Demon, but the mutant refused to let them pass.

"Mara, give me the wheel." Briana said, hitting another button that sent out the wings of the car.

"Wait, what? Wait, can you drive?"

"I don't know."

"Uh, what?"

"That mutant literally has my brother and so far, we can't get past him. So, give me the wheel cause there's no way that we're losing to this guy." Briana told her, a determined look in her sapphire blue eyes.

Mara blinked and with a steady nod, she released her seatbelt, jumping up and walking out on the closest wing to the Speed Demon. For a split second, the hot rod swerved out of control until Briana hopped over the console and took the wheel.

Mara took the baseball bat that she stole from Casey. "Hey, road freak! You're going down!"

She smacked the mutant with the bat and when Speed Demon tried to hit her, Briana dodged easily, letting Mara get another hit. She switched sides and Mara jumped across to the other wing, smacking the Speed Demon back. Speed Demon grabbed her and slapped her with his mechanical tongue. Mara used the baseball bat to slam the end of it into the mutant's face, causing the mutant to throw her back onto the hot rod. Briana dropped back behind the car, letting Mara jump onto the back and pulled up on the other side, taking the lead.

Speed Demon scratched his head as he didn't spot any signs of Mara. "Where the heck did she go?!"

Mara grabbed the Speed Demon's head. "You're going down!" She went to pull the mutant out but before she could, the Speed Demon grabbed her and tossed her away.

Briana dropped back and caught her with the hot rod before she could hit the pavement.

Speed Demon cackled, speeding ahead. "See you at the finish line, Mara Sparks!"

"I don't care about this stupid race!" Mara retorted. "I just want my friend back!"

Briana drove the hot rod closer, catching up once again. She made a sharp turn and switched gears so the hot rod was driving in reverse ahead of the mutant.

Mara jumped off the hot rod and grabbed the mutant, pulling Donatello out of the car and sending her rolling across the street. The mutant car spun out of control and crashed against the cliffside while Briana drove the hot rod to a halt before jumping out of the driver seat, running over to her brother.

At the same time, Mara got back to her feet and ran over to the mutant turtle, who was back to normal.

"Donnie! You're okay!" Briana said.

"Iโ€” yeah, Iโ€”I think so." He responded.

The three of them all turned when they heard an engine revving to find Speed Demon stopped a few feet ahead. "I'm gonna chew you up and spit you out, Sparks!"

Mara groaned. "Oh, come on! What's it gonna take to bring an end to this freak?"

Donatello pushed her aside, pulling out his staff. "I got it this time, Mara!" He ran at the car as it approached. He jumped up, slamming his staff under the hood and effectively stopping it from snapping shut. "Leave my friend alone!"

Speed Demon swerved to a stop, knocking the mutant turtle off. It snapped its hood shut, breaking the staff. The mutant car started speeding towards the three teens, only for the Party Wagon to slam into it, launching it off the road and over the cliff edge.

"I'll... be... back!" The car exploded.

"Woo-hoo! Ow!" Michelangelo cheered. "The Party Wagon takes the win!"

"YES!" Both Donatello and Mara did a high-five as they got back to their feet. Then, Mara turned towards Briana as the two share a fist bump, calling out in unison. "Pound it!"

The hot rod then pulled up as Dr. Cluckingsworth made a clucking noise. "You did good too, doc." Donatello said.

April was the first to get out of the van. "I'm so glad you guys are okay! And I'm so glad you're actually getting along!"

"Thanks, Cupcake," Mara said before turning back to her friend. "Hey, Donnie, how awesome was me grabbing your giant head, huh? So weird!"

"Yeah, or when you guys used the mutagen boost!" Donatello responded. "It actually worked!"

"Oh, that was the best! I actually thought you were gonna squash us on that one turn, dude!" Mara said with a laugh as the others climbed out from the van.

Briana blinked as she watched the two, not entirely used to them getting along as she got so used to her best friend and her brother often getting themselves into arguments.

"I thought I was glad they're getting along." April sighed.

"Yeah, it's gonna take me a while to get used to them getting along." Briana admitted to her.

"You get so used to being the peacekeeper between two people that when those two actually start getting along, it definitely takes a while to get used too when they spent many times arguing with each other."
