"Everyone has their own fears that they're afraid of. But what's important is that you learn how to face it rather than letting your fear control you."

the night before...

DANIEL WAITED IN the alleyway next to his apartment, tapping his foot on the ground impatiently while the wolf inside growled in boredom. Ever since he had heard Henry's howl, he knew what it meant and who was coming and every night, he found himself waiting in the alleyway for him to show up. He should knowโ€”it was his fault that he would go after his son for power. After all, Daniel had been the one to hand over his former alpha's power to him when he passed the alpha title to him in order to stay in the city to watch over his son, and he knew that there wasn't anything that he would do to keep it all for himself.

"Hello, brother."

David Hale smirked as he walked into the alleyway, moving over to where his older brother stood. "Aw, what's with the look? I haven't seen you in sixteen years, and that's what I get?"

Daniel kept his narrowed eyes on him. "Because I know why you're here, David, and I won't let you."

"You know, I'm offended," David taunted with a fake pout. "By the fact that you think I'm up to something."

"You're always up to something," Daniel reminded before he frowned lightly. "David, please. As your brother, I'm begging you, can you please just put a stop to this need for power? You're already the alpha!"

"First, don't frownโ€”it's insulting to our kind," David said in a more serious tone, this time now giving him narrowed eyes. "And second, your son has the potential to steal my title as alpha from me."

"What about Derek and Scott? Your sons? Are you just going to force them to help you go after him?" Daniel questioned.

"My sons know where their loyalty lies, Daniel," David stated. "Yours clearly lies with your son."

"What your sons have isn't loyalty if you use your power to force them to obey your every commands." Daniel told him seriously.

David shook his head as he waved his brother's words aside. "Look, we clearly have different views on what power is," he said. "But you heard that howl just as much as I did, Daniel. Even you can't deny what he is."

"We don't even know if it's for sure," Daniel protested. "But if it is, let him rise up to it on his own."

David scoffed at those words. "And let him take my power? That's not happening."

"David, trust me," Daniel pleaded. "If it's one thing I know about Henryโ€”it's that he doesn't care about power. All he's gonna want is to keep the people he cares about safe."

"People? You mean his pack," David corrected him. "You stayed behind in this city to keep an eye on him, so I know that you know who his pack is."

"You're right, I do," Daniel said firmly. "But I'm not saying anything to you."

David couldn't help but give a low chuckle as he smirked at him. "Oh, no worries, Daniel, I don't need you to tell me anything. I have my ways."

Then, David turned around and began to walk out of the alleyway with a smirk on his face. "It was sure nice seeing you again, big brother! Don't worry, I'll be in touch!"

And as David left the alleyway, Daniel remained in his spot with a concerned expression on his face, a hint of worry in his eyes for his son. The wolf inside of him growled at David's implied threat and pulled at the chains that kept him from coming out and tearing David a new one, but Daniel pulled on the chains from the inside of his mind and refused to give his wolf access from getting out.

But that didn't stop the concern for Henry from growing.

Even if he knew that Henry wanted nothing to do with him at the moment, he knew he had to do somethingโ€”somehow, he had to get Henry to accept his wolf and learn how to control it before it was too late, and someone ended up getting hurt.

David continued to walk away from the alleyway where he met his brother and went over to his sons, who were just a few blocks down. "Now what, dad?" Scott asked.

"Yeah, Uncle Daniel isn't gonna make it easy for you." Derek said.

"Oh, don't worry, boys, I have a plan, but first," Daniel said as he looked over at his sons, a smirk growing on his face. "We have to sign you two up for Roosevelt High School."

present day...

THE MOMENT THAT school had let out, Briana, Henry, Mara, Calista, Zane, Casey, and April were either sitting on a bench or leaning against it on their phones, waiting for the right moment when the alley would be completely empty so, they could head into the sewers. Ever since the night where Henry confronted his mother, he's been avoiding going home to avoid his parents and he was also on the lookout to make sure that he can avoid Daniel as well. After he had ran out of his house and let out his anger, frustration, and stress by screaming on that rooftop, all he knew was that he definitely didn't planned on going back to his house.

Henry didn't realize it but the next thing he knew was that he found himself at the lairโ€”the one place where he's always felt like he belonged a whole lot better there than he ever did at homeโ€” that night with nothing but a broken expression on his face. Although he had the support of his friends and one of the extra bedrooms to stay in at the lair, Henry hadn't been able to get any sleep lately with not just the thoughts that ran through his head, but the nightmares that were once again making their way back.

Henry scrolled through the ton of messages on his T-Phone, scanning all of themโ€”some of them were from his mother while the rest were from his sister.

To: Henry
From: Piper
Do you know what's going on with mom and dad? They're always arguing while I'm in my room but the moment that I step into the same room as them, they stop and avoid each other for the rest of the day.

To: Henry
From: Mom
Henry, where are you? Can you please pick up your phone?

To: Henry
From: Piper
How come you aren't answering mom's calls? She's freaking out.

To: Henry
From: Mom
I know you're upset with me, but can we please talk? I don't care if it's in person or in a call.

To: Henry
From: Piper
Okay, serious, what is going on? Dad's sleeping on the couch now and mom cries herself to sleep every night.

To: Henry
From: Mom
You're mad, I get it. I deserve it, I do. But... can you please just let me know if you're safe at least?

To: Henry
From: Piper
Henry, please answer me. Why are mom and dad always fighting? How come you're not coming home anymore? Where even are you?

To: Henry
From: Mom
Please tell me where you're staying. I'm worried.

To: Henry
From: Piper
Mom's and dad's fighting is getting really bad. It's like they can't be in the same room anymore.

To: Henry
From: Mom
I'm sorry. I really am.

Henry exited out of his messages and clicked on one of the games he downloaded to try to take his mind off of the messages. He knew he was no doubt hurting his mother by making her worry about him, but if he had to be honest, he didn't really care about how worried she was at the momentโ€”not after what she lied to him about. But Piper... she was the one that Henry found it hard to do this too.

As much as Henry hated avoiding his sister, the last thing he wanted to do was to make it seem like she had to choose between him or their mother. He wouldn't do that to herโ€”he couldn't, not even after the fact that he practically took on the job of raising her himself with how busy Kris and Jack always seemed to be, never seemingly to stay for long within the house with them as it was often just Henry and Piper alone in the two-story house. A part of him just wanted to go see her and tell her everything, but he couldn'tโ€”how was he going to explain to her what happened and make her feel like she had to choose between him, her brother, or Kris, their mother who was the only reason that they were even related in the first place.

He was already responsible for hurting Jack, he didn't want to end up doing the same thing to Piper too.

He couldn't hurt her too.

"You know, guys, it's awesome having someone else who knows about the turtles," April said. "Asides from Kaz, Henry, and Bri, I had no one to talk too. 'Specially after dad turned into a mutant bat."

"I'll say," Kaz added in agreement. "Even after my mom turned into a mutant bird."

After finding out what happened to April's father and Kaz's mother, Calista couldn't help but feel her dislike for the turtles growing even further. In her eyes, it was their fault that Kirby and Emma got turned into two freaky mutants, and the fact that both Henry and Briana were a part of what happened to them didn't help her as she found herself disliking the two even more. But the part that got her upset the most was that both April and Kaz had willingly came to forgive them for what happened to their respective parents'โ€”as if they weren't responsible for their parents being nothing more than just two freaks.

If she was them, Calista knew that she for sure wouldn't have forgiven them at all.

"Gotta admit, the whole thing's pretty mind-blowing," Casey admitted. "Bunch of ninja turtles living in the sewers with their rat master. I mean, you couldn't make this stuff up."

"Yeah, finally, for once, things aren't gonna be so boring anymore." Mara said with a smirk, actually looking forward to how things were going to be from now on.

Calista, however, frowned at her girlfriend's words and upon seeing the smirk on her face. She, for one, was definitely not excited and all she wanted was for things to go back to normal.

Back to when they had no idea about the turtles.

Back to when her girlfriend didn't know Briana.

As the alleyway began to clear, they all slowly looked up and glanced around, finding that they were the only ones around.

"Coast is clear."

"Let's do this."

As they opened the manhole cover and each one of them began to climb down the ladder, April spoke up. "So, what's with the mask? It's not like the turtles don't know who you are."

"Same reason people have worn masks throughout history: 'cause it looks cool." Casey answered.

They all reached the bottom and Mara wrinkled her nose in disgust at the smell. "Too bad you don't have anything to help with the smell though." She remarked.

"No kidding," Zane said in agreement. "How can you guys stand it?"

"I've lived down here my whole life," Briana said with a shrug. "You get used to it."

But then, Henry's nose twitched as it picked up on a scentโ€”one that smelt way worse than it normally did or was already used to it down in the sewers, and he wasn't the only one.

"Is it me or does something really does smell weird?" Henry asked.

"Yeah, like moldy cheese and puke." April added.

Suddenly, a guy came running out while screaming at the top of his lungs. "Squirrel! Giant mutant squirrel!" He ran past them before they all ran after him, only to end up losing him after taking a turn.

"Where'd he go?" Calista asked.

"Hello?" Kaz called out.

"Crazy dude?" Casey called out.

"Something's wrong," April said as she looked around and then, suddenly, a mushroom mutant blew something at her. She coughed, and stepped back.

"Uh, you okay there, Carrot Top?" Mara questioned. "What'd you see?"

But in April's eyes, all she saw were giant mutant bats that looked like her father as she screamed and ran off, leaving them standing there.

๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘

"GUYS! APRIL... SEWERS... hurry!"

The five mutant turtles, who had been sitting on the couchโ€”watching SRMFF, had quickly gotten to their feet at the yell to find them running into the lair.

"What's wrong?" Eclipse asked.

"Are the Foot Bots back?" Leonardo asked.

Casey shook his head. "No, we were on our way here when out of nowhere, April just starts to freak out and runs off. She's gone."

"Wait, wait. You lost April!?" Donatello questioned angrily.

"Did you not hear the part where she freaked out and ran off, gappy?" Mara retorted.

"Relax, I'm sure there's a logical explanation," Michelangelo said. "Like she was eaten by a giant sewer snake or something."

They all gave him a look.

"Let's go!" Donatello said, a panic look on his face as he was already running for the turnstiles. As he ran towards the entrance, he pushed himself past Casey and knocked him into Mara, knocking the two onto the ground while he ran out of the lair with the others watching.

๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘

EVERYONE FOLLOWED CLOSELY behind as Casey was the one that was in the lead before coming to a stop when he halted. "I think we-we lost her around here." He said.

"You think? Oh, that's not vague or anything!" Donatello snapped.

"Back off, stick master!" Casey snapped.

Donatello glared at him. "Who are you calling 'stick master,' puck head?"

"Obviously you, genius," Mara told him sarcastically with a pointed glare. "You're the only one here that has a stick."

The three glare at each other. "If we're gonna find April then, we don't have time for you three to fight." Zane reminded.

Rats suddenly scurried in front of them, causing Casey to jump when he saw them. "Ah, rats! Why'd it have to be rats?" He asked fearfully.

"Dude, they're everywhere down here," Michelangelo told him, picking one up. "They're nature's cuddly little friends." He nuzzled it against his face.

"What is wrong with you?" Casey asked, disbelievingly.

"Question of the day." Calista muttered lowly under her breath, thinking that nobody would be able to hear her.

Henry felt his ears twitched, picking up on her low whisper as he could feel the wolf inside of him growled. Not wanting to said anything in front of everyone else at the moment, he decided to set it aside for now.

As Michelangelo set down the rat, Henry felt his nose twitched at a scent this time. It was the same scent from earlier that smelt just awful. He looked down a tunnel and made a small face, his nose twitching again at the whiff of the smell he caught.

He heard a cough and looked away to find Casey coughing. "That was hideous."

"You put your nose in a New York City sewer," Kaz told him. "What'd you expect?"

Casey coughed again. "Thought I'd sawโ€”" he screamed, confusing everyone else as they saw nothing that could've frightened him.

"Casey, what is it?" Eclipse asked.

"Iโ€”I saw it, dudette. The demon rat!" Casey said fearfully.

"Demon rat?" Raphael asked confusedly.

"Get them off me!" Casey started swinging his hockey stick at thin air, as the others only watched with confused stares. "They're everywhere!"

"Um... what's everywhere?" Briana questioned.

"No clue." Leonardo answered.

Then, Raphael and Donatello pinned him against the wall. "Not gonna lie, that felt pretty good."

Raphael stared at Casey. "What is your malfunction?" But Casey only grew more and more frantic as he fell onto his knees, whimpering fearfully.

"Okay, seriously, what's wrong with him?" Calista questioned.

Before anyone could answer, Henry's ears prickled at a familiar scream that grabbed their attention.

"April!" Donatello shouted before running off.

As Kaz and Raphael practically had to drag Casey along the way, they followed down the way that Donatello had gone and emerged into a larger tunnel to find him trying to calm April down, which wasn't working at all in the slightest.

"April, calm down. Everything's going to be okay." Donatello said, but not once did she ever calmed down.

"Hold up," Leonardo said as Henry's ears prickled again. "What's that sound?" The noise got louder, and they all turned to see some kind of blue ball rolling along the floor. It flattened out into a kind of pancake before popping up into a mushroom standing on two legs.

"What the heck is that?" Mara demanded.

"It's a mushroom," Briana replied. "With... feet."

"Aw, it's so cute." Michelangelo said.

"More like creepy." Zane added.

The mutant mushroom suddenly jumped and attached itself to Michelangelo's face.

"AHH! Get it off of me! Get it off of me!"

The mutant mushroom then hopped off and rolled back towards the others. "It's on the move," Leonardo said, drawing his katanas.

"I got this." Raphael said as he took out his sais. He tried to hit the mutant mushroom, but it dodged his sais and jumped over his shoulder.

"Fascinating. Evolved fungi!" Donatello said, awestruck.

Eclipse raised a brow at him. "Really? Now? You're gonna do this now?"

The mushroom jumped in front of Raphael's face and sprayed him with some kind of yellow powder. Coughing, he fell onto the ground.

"Raph!"

The mushroom then attached itself to Leonardo's head, who stumbled backwards while trying to pry it off. It came off as he tumbled over Raphael. The mushroom launched itself at Kaz, who let go of Casey and took his baseball bat and knocked the mushroom out of the tunnel. It disturbed a flock of bats, which flew up, screeching.

"Keep back! Get away from me!" April screamed, scrambling away.

"Ah! The rats!" Casey shouted, running off into the sewers.

"What the heck is going on?" Eclipse questioned.

Leonardo looked over at his brother, as Raphael was still on the ground. "Raph, are you okay?"

Raphael looked at him fearfully, only to see a mutant cockroach instead. "No, it's you. Anyone but you! Keep away from me!"

"Raph, calm down," Henry said. "It's us."

But Raphael shook his head. "That's it. If you won't stay away, I'll splatter you!" He pulled out his sai and charged at Leonardo, who dodged aside and he fell onto the ground. He ran at him, sais in hand, and Leonardo ducked.

"Donnie? Or Bri? Quick explanation!" Michelangelo said.

"Wish I knew!" Donatello said.

"You're not getting me, roach! I smashed you once, I'll smash you again!" Raphael snapped.

"Roach?" Briana asked.

Raphael swung at Leonardo, but he blacked up and continued to dodge the attacks. Eclipse stepped in to help him out and knocked the red masked mutant turtle to the ground.

"Sorry, bro, but you're out of control." Eclipse said.

"No, it's impossible." Raphael said, pressing himself against the wall.

"We're not gonna hurt you, Raph." Donatello said, approaching him cautiously.

"Get back!" Raphael kicked Donatello away, and Michelangelo tackled him.

Michelangelo quickly tied him up with his chain. "Come on, dude! Stop it! Calm down! Breathe with me!"

"Get off me!" Raphael snapped, struggling. "Get off!"

April backed away from the edge of the tunnel, swatting at something in the air as she bumped into Donatello. "Keep away!"

"April. April, listen. There are no bats, I promise." Donatello said calmly. April swatted something again and smacked him across the face. "Ow!"

"Fungus!" Briana suddenly exclaimed.

"Language please." Michelangelo said.

"No, whatever's happening to Raph is happening to April and Casey," Briana said. "It's like they're experiencing their worst fears. And I think I know why."

๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘

IN A DIFFERENT part of the sewers, both Donatello and Briana had a makeshift lab table. Donatello was trying to get a DNA sample from April, but the red haired girl was too freaked out to let him get close.

"Okay, now, trust me, April."

"No, please."

"Iโ€”I won't hurt you, honest. I just need a quick swab." Donatello said as April leaned away.

While she was distracted by him, Briana was able to take her own swab. She dropped the sample in a beaker of liquid and swirled the liquid around and watched as it turned orange.

"April's been exposed to toxins found in certain types of fungi." Briana explained.

"Those mushroom men must produce them as a defense mechanism." Donatello added.

"Against what? Being stir-fried?" Eclipse questioned.

"I'm freaking out! I'm freaking out!" Raphael said, still bound in his brother's nunchucks.

"It's okay, dude. It's me, Mikey, give your bro a hug. It'll make you feel better." Michelangelo said, reaching out for him.

"Uh, Mikey, probably not a good idea." Henry warned.

"Come on, now. Where's the love? Aw, right here between my arms." Michelangelo said, hugging his brother.

"He's gonna hurl." Kaz said, noticing that Raphael was starting to look a bit greenโ€”more than usual.

"I think I'm gonna hurl." Raphael also said, and a second later, he did hurled.

๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘

THE REMAINING TEENS were once again walking through the sewers, searching for Casey. Michelangelo was dragging Raphael along with him, who was still bound in his nunchucks while Donatello lead April with an arm around her shoulders. Raphael was fighting against the nunchucks, wanting to get free while every now and then, April would scream or shriek and swat at the air every few minutes. They emerged into a large tunnel filled with mushrooms.

"What is that stuff?" Kaz asked, looking up at the ceiling.

"It's fungi mycellium, where mushrooms come from." Donatello replied.

"Uh, you mean like all these right here?" Eclipse asked, pointing over at all of the spores.

"Fungus grows like crazy in the dark," Briana said. "If we don't stop these by sundown, the mushrooms will spread all over the city."

"Millions of people will go crazy with fear." Donatello added.

"Don't worry, Raph, I'll protect you." Michelangelo told his brother.

"Oh, that's reassuring." Calista muttered lowly under her breath.

Once again, Henry swore he felt the wolf inside of me growled at the way she spoke those words. Putting his focus at the more pressing matter at the moment, Henry pushed it aside for now.

Donatello pushed away part of the fungus against the wall, revealing an entrance into another level. Both Leonardo and Henry took the lead as they trekked through, the mushrooms chirping all around them.

"The bats. No, not the bats." April said.

"Don't worry, April, everything's gonna be alright," Donatello said. The mutant mushrooms chirped again and started to stand. "Or not."

"Fungus balls." Michelangelo muttered.

"Keep an eye on Raph and April!" Leonardo ordered, drawing his katanas as the mushrooms started to attack. "No matter what, stay together!"

"Booyakasha!" Michelangelo said, jumping across the mushrooms as he laughed. "Check it out, Super Mikey Brothers!" But then, another mushroom had attached itself to his shell, causing him to let out a yell. "Get it off! Get it off!"

Donatello raised his staff, but the mushroom was gone from his shell before he could do anything. "Where it'd go?" The mushroom attached itself to Michelangelo's head and he screamed again while Donatello swung at the mushroom, but it leapt out of the way and he smacked Michelangelo on the head. "Oops. Sorry, my bad."

Dazed, Michelangelo stumbled back and toppled into the yellow powder that the mutant mushroom had sprayed. He coughed, and then screamed at something as he fell over Raphael, who had freed himself from the chain. The two of them looked at each other and screamed.

"COCKROACH!" "SQUIRRELANOID!"

Both Michelangelo and Raphael took off down the tunnelโ€”the very same way they'd came. At the same time, Kaz, Mara, Zane, and Calista had gotten sprayed by the yellow powders: Kaz started seeing mutant birds, Mara was seeing snakes, Zane was seeing clowns, and Calista was seeing wolves.

As Eclipse sliced one mushroom mutant, another one jumped and sprayed the yellow powder in her face, as she coughed. Briana stabbed a mushroom mutant and as she turned around, there was one behind her that sprayed the yellow powder in her face, causing her to back up as she coughed. The two sisters coughed before they stared at each other, then both screamed since rather than seeing each other, Briana saw a clown while Eclipse saw the parasite wasp.

"CLOWN!" "WASP!"

"Wait!" Leonardo said, but Briana and Eclipse already ran off.

"Donnie, watch out!" Henry shouted, but the purple masked mutant turtle was already sprayed.

Donatello coughed and looked at April. "April, we need to get outta here." He coughed again, reaching out. "Take my hand!" He backed away. "April? Whโ€”what's wrong with you?" He screamed. "She hates me. April hates me! No! Leave me alone! I don't wanna hear anymore!"

April was still freaking out about the bats she was seeing, as she and Donatello took off running.

"No! Donnie, April, come back!" Henry shouted, only for a mushroom mutant to spray him in the face with the yellow powder as he coughed.

"Henry!" Leonardo yelled, only to get sprayed in the face as well as he started coughing. When he looked up, he was alone in the tunnel and everyone else had disappeared. "No... everyone's gone..." he coughed. "It's my fault... I failed them... it's all my fault."

Still coughing, Henry glanced up to find that he was the only one in the tunnel but then, the familiar menacingly, sinister laugh reaches his ears as he froze, panic and fear setting onto his face.

"You think you can defeat me, boy?" Shredder said with a dry laugh. "You couldn't even stop me from killing them! So, what makes you think you can defeat me?"

At the sight of familiar lifeless bodies laying on the ground around him, his eyes widened while his skin paled. "No... no!" He said, starting to breathe heavily. "This... it's... it can't be real!"

"Oh, but it is," Henry spun around to come face-to-face with himself, who stared at him with nothing but disgust and hatred on his face. "You're a failure, Henry! Your family knows it, your friends know it, and... you know it!"

"I..." Henry squeezed his eyes shut, grabbing onto his head as he tried to ignore the voices, not realizing that he was moving closer to the ledge. "I failed..." he said quietly. "I'm a failure..." he let out a startled yell as he fell off the ledge, landing hard in a different part of the tunnel and losing his twin swords. He groaned in pain. "Where am I...?"

"Henry?"

Henry looked over at his right and saw the blue masked mutant turtle next to him. "Leo?" Henry questioned. "Wait, is this real or...?"

Leonardo shrugged. "I was gonna ask the same thing."

When the two leaders looked towards the front, a giant mushroom was there and at its base was a mutagen canister. The smaller mutant mushrooms around them started to dance while the two leaders stared in confusion. Two mushrooms leapt up in each one of their faces and sprayed them from either side, causing the two leaders to cough.

Henry turned to face Leonardo as he opened his eyes, only to find himself alone with nothing but darkness around him. Once again, the familiar lifeless bodies appeared in front of him while the other version of himself stared him down with a glare that held nothing but disgust and hatred for him.

"You did this, Henry!" The other him said. "It's all your fault that Shredder killed him!"

"No! No!" Henry said, grabbing onto his head again. "Snap out of it, Henry. None of this is real! It's just your fear! Snap out of it!"

"You promised Sensei that you'd look out for them, Henry," the other him said again. "You broke that promiseโ€”you failed him!"

"Shut up!" Henry yelled. "Come onโ€”come on! Snap out of it!"

The darkness around him vanished to reveal the cavern he and Leonardo were in again, only for more mutant mushrooms to spray him again.

"Mutagen. Taste. Fear. Feed," the giant mushroom said.

Both Leonardo and Henry groaned, the flashes of their respective nightmares flashing in their heads. "It's all in my head. Get out! Get out of my head!"

"More fear. Stronger. Spread, my spawn."

"Fight it, Leo! Fight your fear!"

"Spread, spawn."

"It's not real, Henry. Fight it! Don't let your fear win!"

No matter how hard both Henry and Leonardo tried to block it out, the mushrooms kept spraying them in their faces with the yellow powder.

"It's all in your head, it's not real." Henry told himself as the voice of the other him came back.

"Oh, boohoo! Poor little Henry Hart," the other him said. "You were a failure from the very beginning! They almost died that night you all faced Shredder for the first timeโ€”and it was all because you weren't strong enough! You're nothing but a failure! Hell, your own father probably thinks the same thing now that he knows the truth about youโ€”that you're not even his!"

At the last part, Henry couldn't help but fell onto his knees with his eyes squeezed shut tightly. "I'm a failure... Iโ€”I can't do anything right..." he whispered to himself. "I... I failed my family."

"Henry!"

At the far-fetched yell, Henry looked up a little as he opened his eyes. "Leo?" He questioned.

"You're a failure, Henry," the other him repeated, refusing to let him out. "Some leaderโ€”some second-in-command you are."

"Henry! It's not real!"

"You're nothing but a mistake from your mother's affair," the other him said. "Hell, you wouldn't even exist if she hadn't cheated."

"Remember what Sensei said about fear? All leaders must face the fear of losing their team. They need us, Henry!"

"Everyone would be better off without youโ€”the biggest mistake in their lives." The other him said.

"No," Henry said firmly as he took a deep breath. "Maybe I am a mistake from my mother's affair but over my dead body am I gonna let my fear control me. It's all in my headโ€”none of this is real! I'm in control of my fearโ€”my fear doesn't control me! I control it!" He opened his eyes as he stood up, sharing a determined nod with Leonardo as the two faced the giant mushroom.

"Your spores won't work on us! We face our fears everyday," Leonardo said.

Finding one of his twin swords, Henry grabbed it while Leonardo drew his katanas. As the two leaders sliced through the smaller mushrooms, Henry's blade caught a flashlight from a crack in the ceiling above, and deflected it onto the giant mushroom. It groaned, shrinking away from the light.

"So, that's your fear," Henry said with a smirk. "Well, you're really gonna hate this then. Leo!" He gave him a signal, and the blue masked mutant turtle nodded.

Henry grabbed one of the exploding eyeballs and threw it at the small gap while Leonardo jumped and bounced off of the mushrooms to get higher. It exploded, letting in more sunlight and using his katanas, Leonardo deflected the light at the giant mushroom, as it exploded.

๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘‘

VOICES WERE HEARD in the background as both Henry and Leonardo laid on the ground, unconscious.

"Leo, Henry."

"Oh, no."

"Dudes."

"Guys."

"Speak to me, bros," Michelangelo said. "Do you need mouth-to-mouth?"

Hearing that, both Leonardo and Henry immediately woke up as Leonardo lifted a hand, shoving his face away. "Absolutely... not." He told him.

As the two leaders sat up, Henry saw that the others were gathered around them. "Everyone's okay?"

Eclipse nodded with a smile. "Everyone's okay." She reassured.

"Whatever you guys did, you both saved usโ€”all of us. Thanks," Raphael added in agreement.

Leonardo and Henry only smiled. "No problem."

ONCE EVERYONE HAD arrived back at the lair, they were all talking about what they'd seen under the mushroom's influence. Both Leonardo and Henry were sitting with Splinter at the edge of the pool.

"And then, the sunlight destroyed him and his little mushroom freaks." Leonardo finished.

"Impressive," Splinter said. "And would you two say you conquered your fears?"

"No," Henry said, taking a small glance at the water before looking back up at him. "We just faced it, sensei."

Splinter smiled at the two. "And that, Leonardo, Henry, is why you both are great ninjas and leaders."

The two smiled at him.

"Yeah, boy, check it out!" Michelangelo called, coming in with a box of pizza. They all walked over to join him. "An extra large pizza with anchovies, pepperoni, and extra... mushrooms." He opened the box to reveal the mushroom topping.

The others all scowled at him. "Mikey!" They exclaimed, then walking away one-by-one in disgust.

"You can't be serious."

"Okay, that is just wrong."

"Mushrooms..."

Michelangelo shrugged in response and picked up a slice. He lifted it to eat it, then froze when a tiny mushroom dude sat. It scooted around the pizza, squeaking while his eyes widened in disbelief.

DANIEL FOUND HIMSELF standing on the front porch of the Hart household, debating if he should be doing this or not as the sound of arguing from the inside could be heard. He knows it wasn't the best idea coming here, especially not after what happened the last time he showed up.

Daniel sighed as Henry had ran out of the house, ignoring Kris's calls for him to come back. He did tried to warn Kris about this happening but she didn't want to listen to himโ€”he was lost in his own thoughts that he didn't realize that Jack had left his side and had moved into further his house.

"Jackโ€”"

"Were you ever going to tell me?" Jack questioned in a hurt tone that held anger in it. "Or were you just going to let me act like an idiot?"

"Jack, Iโ€”"

"Answer the question, Kris," Jack interrupted sharply. "Were you ever going to tell me about it? About your affair? About..." he paused for a second before he swallowed, forcing him to finish. "Henry?"

"I... I don't know," Kris admitted softly, tears forming in her eyes. "Jack, I... I can explain."

"I don't want to hear it." Jack said sharply, staring at her with an angry look but his eyes held the hurt in them.

Daniel knew that he should've left, but he hadโ€”no, he needed to talk to Kris about something important. So, against his better judgement, he walked further into the house.

"Kris, we need toโ€”"

Daniel didn't get to finish because Jack had slammed his fist into the left side of his face, causing Daniel to stumble back while Kris's eyes widened, a small gasp leaving her lips.

"Jack!" She said, desperately trying to stop them from fighting.

"It's fine," Daniel said, rubbing his jaw. "Don't worry about it." He felt the wolf inside of him growled and pulled at the chains inside his head, wanting to be sent free to tear Jack a new one, but Daniel gripped the chains tightly and refused to let his wolf out.

Kris shook her head. "You should go, Daniel," she told him. "I... we'll talk later."

Daniel only nodded as he turned and left. But the moment he stepped outside, he heard a howlโ€”and he knew exactly who it was from.

Taking a deep breath, Daniel reached out and knocked on the door. Immediately, the arguing stopped and he waited as the front door opened to show that it was Kris that opened it.

"Daniel," Kris said as she looked over her shoulder before back at him. "Look, this isn'tโ€”"

"It's about Henry," Daniel said. "He's in danger."

Kris stared at him before opening the door further open, letting the man step inside as she closed the door behind him. Jack looked away, a small scoff leaving his lips as he crossed his arms over his chest the moment Daniel stepped into the houseโ€”his house.

"What happened to Henry? Is he okay?" Kris questioned worriedly.

"He's fine," Daniel said. "Iโ€”"

"You said he was in danger, Daniel."

"Because he is," Daniel said. "Remember when I told you about my brother?"

Kris nodded.

"My brother's here in the city," Daniel informed, causing Kris to freeze at his words. "I know you heard when Henry howled that night, Kris. You know why he's coming."

"And why is he?" Jack spat bitterly at him. "What does he even want with Henry?"

"Henry's not a normal kid, like you think he is," Daniel told him, ignoring the bitterness. "He's specialโ€”really special."

"You told me that you weren't sure that it was Henry," Kris reminded. "That those things were too rare."

"They are, but from what I've seen of him, I think I was right about him, and if I was, then he's in danger because my brother won't stop till he..."

"Till he what?" Jack questioned.

Daniel doesn't said anything as he stared at Kris for a while, her eyes widening as her skin paled.

"No. No!" Kris shouted, worriedly. "Iโ€”this is exactly why I didn't tell him, Daniel! Henry's a kid!"

"I know that," Daniel said. "But he's not just a kid, Kris. He's a part wolf mutantโ€”and you know why my brother is after him."

"Can one of you just spit it out already?" Jack asked bitterly. "What does your brother want with Henry?"

Daniel sighs as he turns to face him.

"He wants to kill Henry."

"Having a fear is normal for everyone to have. But sometimes, there are people that learn how to face it while others... their fears ends up controlling them."
